Welcome founding & new members alike. Jump on board the WoW wagon if you want to be slimmer, healthier, happier and more energetic! You've certainly come to the right place! These threads have been going for sometime now and seem well received. The ladies who post are supportive and inspiring in equal measure. There is no shaming, competition or harsh words.

As no one size fits all members generally follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless we will offer guidance and support if required.

Me personally? I keep on it by calorie counting, logging via MFP app, Intermittent fasting, eating a low carb Mediterranean style diet and staying well hydrated. I can’t emphasise enough the importance of drinking plenty of water. There are so many enjoyable options without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

Interested? Add your name, personal goals, eating/exercise plan etc.

Wednesdays will be WoW (weigh on Wednesday)

Oh @RubySlippers77 happy belated birthday Flowers The more I hear of your DP the less I like him.

It's DH's birthday in May, so I ordered stuff off Amazon so he will have presents and we were going to go eat somewhere for our wedding anniversary last month, but that didn't happen. They've now set up to do take aways, so I have said we'll order from there for his birthday. It's not hard!!! Sending you a (((hug)))

I'm worried about the face masks bit because I can't really sew and haven't got a machine. Any info/tips you can share @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 would be great.

Poor toes @fallfallfall

Hope you all have a good day. @SunshineCake our shops seem to have recovered now, so I need to get my bum in gear and stop baking and eating everything in sight....maybe Monday Wink

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 01/05/2020 07:35

@MrsJonesAndMe

Probably the easiest solution is to buy a pack of bandanas, I've actually done this as well as DH is really reluctant to wear a mask but has said he would wear a bandana cowboy style if he has to.

You can also make a no sew mask with one or from a T-shirt like this which is from the CDC

www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/diy-cloth-face-coverings.html

I have ordered a 12 pack of bandanas from eBay for £8.99 which will give us plenty to have 1 on the go while the others are in the wash.

Galvantula · 01/05/2020 08:51

Hi all. sorry I have been a total fail at checking in on here. Blush Blush

The last few weeks have felt like a blur tbh!

I will need to have a read and catch up a bit, glad to hear @BustedDreams is ok though.

@TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 that's the best link for masks I've seen. I don' have a machine but can hand sew badly so might have a go :D

I've definitely succumbed to the comfort eating, but have managed to stay just under 60 kg. I've set that as a limit for myself as I think I'm not going to lose weight at present and have kind of accepted that for now.

I'm still at work, it's a bit stressful and uncomfortable trying to stay 2m apart all day and constantly hand washing and remembering to clean work areas at the end of a shift. Plus the weirdness of temperature scanning on entry. Thinking myself very lucky not to be in a job where I have no choice not to get close to patients/the public though and being reasonably secure in work for now.

best wishes to all, will try to catch up on my coffee break. Flowers

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/05/2020 14:16

Ah, pleased to see you @Galvantula

I've gained 3lbs and just shouted at everyone. Stressful times!

Thanks @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50, will contemplate the options

SunshineCake · 01/05/2020 19:57

Happy birthday *@RubySlippers77. I hope you've had a good day today.

*@fallfallfall. I was looking on your card for the piggies Grin. I read your post three times before I got it Blush.

I've spent all day cleaning. I decided I would deep clean a room a day as I keep reading about people having the houses cleaner than ever. Today I did the en suite and most of my bedroom. I'm now having a glass of Prosecco while watching Corrie and hating it. Come on Yasmeen Sad.

What a fun card sunshine with a great amount of bling 😊

SunshineCake · 01/05/2020 22:19

Thank you. Couldn't get the photo right. I was taking a photo on my iPad from my phone and made a right mess Blush.

Foreverlexicon · 02/05/2020 10:32

Day before yesterday wasn’t great but could of been worse.
Yesterday was good (on food and exercise front)
Still just waiting and twiddling my fingers. Feel sick to my stomach most of the time.
Thankfully they’ve decided to cancel this on call/reserve stuff so I’m back to work on Monday (for 2 nights then 4 days off 🙄) and as daunting and stressful I find the idea of actually having to care about anything less than life threatening, it’s got to be better for me than just sitting here waiting. It’ll pass the time quicker.

Feeling a bit glum today. I just want this done now, I want to give my partner a hug and I want my life back

MrsJonesAndMe · 02/05/2020 11:05

Hi all

Nice card @SunshineCake

I hope that being back at work does indeed help @foreverlexicon. I think there may be a glimmer of light now after Boris' speech the other day.

Yesterday was good. A walk and some yoga. 3 meals and one snack and stuck to 16:8. Today I've sat on the sofa with a blanket that needs constructing. Slow going! And I've had breakfast and a snack already Hmm

Thinking of you all x

SunshineCake · 02/05/2020 14:11

I'm posting I'm half a pound down as it won't last long I expect Grin.

MrsJonesAndMe · 02/05/2020 20:20

Well I've managed to stick to an 8hr window, but crammed in cake, a toastie and lasagne and dough balls Hmm

RubySlippers77 · 02/05/2020 21:45

Beautiful cards @fallfallfall and @SunshineCake Smile and well done on the half a pound off... I'm aware that I'm on a weight loss thread but it just isn't happening!!

Welcome back @Galvantula - I can imagine that work is very busy for you - one of my friends works in endoscopy at a major hospital and she is rushed off her feet all day, plus very uncomfortable with extra PPE, less breaks etc. DP is on a building site but also has the constant temperature checking, hand washing, distancing etc as a condition of them staying open.

Thank you for the bandana tip @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50! I've ordered a pack plus a couple of 'proper' face masks (cotton ones) and one each for the DC just in case. I've ordered them nice patterned ones in the hope that they won't moan too much about them...

@MrsJonesAndMe I've just had a Nutella sandwich as I was still hungry after dinner Sad where is my willpower?!

DP has been thoroughly shouted at today for letting the DC play with their cousin (similar age) - he was with his DGF nearby - he said "oh they're only kids, kids don't get ill with it" which I was furious about. I won't go into my rants here but suffice to say he won't be doing it again...

Any news @Foreverlexicon? I hope that being back at work will help Flowers

SunshineCake · 02/05/2020 22:18

*@BustedDreams sends her love to you all .

SunshineCake · 02/05/2020 22:20

Just a quickie, dh keeps saying make some when I ask about masks. I have a sewing machine but happy to sew by hand as my machine is in the cupboard and heavy but I'd rather buy ready made. I need for five of us though and no clue where to start.. any suggestions, help or links will be gratefully received thank you.

RubySlippers77 · 02/05/2020 22:29

Hi @SunshineCake - these are the bandanas I bought (perhaps the same as the ones Torys ordered?):

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151927968812

And I ordered one of these for me:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/283860907606

I ordered kids ones (in cute designs!) via a friend of a friend on Facebook, can PM you the details if you have any little ones to buy for Smile

SunshineCake · 02/05/2020 22:33

*@RubySlippers77, Thank you very much. My kids are 14-19 but the younger one and I would go for some fun designs Smile.

Galvantula · 02/05/2020 22:38

@RubySlippers77 working in a hospital sounds so stressful at the moment. My work is in a factory type setting, our smaller department is not so bad. It feels uncomfortable though going to the canteen and more highly populated areas. Also we make products that people certainly like, but they don't feel "essential" to us so we all feel a bit like we'd rather be somewhere else! Office staff have all been sent to work from home, but all the "hands on" people have to stay.

Sitting with 🍷 here, trying to stay awake and snacking too much. Blush

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/05/2020 07:49

Morning all

Very lovely looking masks on Etsy, but I'm conscious of not wanting to buy stuff when my earnings have been affected Hmm

A new day, though I woke in the night and was starving! Going shopping later, so need to get some salad and jackets so I have a better chance at this!

My neighbours (guess in late 60s/70s) have 4 kids who are still coming round - at least one daily and the grandchildren including a great grandchild aged under 1 and one of the pregnant DILs too! Looked like a party yesterday when they got out of the car with 2 boxes of Krispy Kremes, a pregnant belly and 2 kids and disappeared inside Angry

SunshineCake · 03/05/2020 08:10

Thank you for the PM *@RubySlippers77. I'll look later when I have got up. I slept in a bit and dh says he has ordered some face masks already but we may need more.

Some people are beyond help, *@MrsJonesAndMe. My son reported some people for having a picnic near us, two groups and I'd be tempted to do the same with your neighbours. I feel people are getting blasé and acting like the risk is over. I told someone a few weeks ago I thought I had had it and I was feeling awful and they told me to be careful telling people as others might not be very positive towards me. I think she was implying they might get physical with me. I could tell idiots how bad it is but surely looking at over 28,000 dead means everyone knows by now?!

Foreverlexicon · 03/05/2020 10:12

Yesterday I had
B - cereal and peach
L - flatbread with cheese and soy broad beans
D - beef stew with peas
S - chocolate, bit of fudge and small bag of popcorn
E - ran 6k and rode the horse for an hour and 15 min.
Came to approx 1600 calories.

No real news. Yesterday the nurses said matter of hours but she rallied and became more stable. I haven’t heard anything yet today. I’m extremely anxious and on edge constantly waiting for news. Just trying to keep busy the best I can which is difficult in current circumstances!

Foreverlexicon · 03/05/2020 10:17

I’m finding the rule breakers infuriating. It almost feels like a personal slight that I’m up here, away from my partner during one of the hardest times in her life, unable to visit or do anything because I swore an oath to protect the public, yet so many of them are just refusing to protect themselves. Not to mention all the hate the police are getting at the moment - usually it’s water off a ducks back but actually finding it’s getting to me a little now.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 03/05/2020 13:43

One of the activities we've been doing with our 5 yr old is gardening as it checks a few of the school boxes: outdoor activity, learning about health and biology/nature cycles.

I really think I love it, always thought I had a black thumb but 8m really enjoying growing stuff.

We've got perpetual salad leaves, spinach and rocket on the go which we've been eating.

Several strawberry plants with little green strawberries growing.

Radishes are plumping up, as are red onions and the sugar snap peas are about 8inches high now and carrot tops are getting bushy.

Spring onions have started shooting up, tomato plants are getting big, just waiting on some flowers.

Had fresh rosemary on our roast potatoes the other day and fresh mint in our drinks.

Today I've potted in a blueberry bush and started a new bag of potatoes, also sowed seeds for more peas, tomatoes and cucumber.

I could really get into this. Gone from nothing to 3 small greenhouses and a bunch of pots. The soil in our garden is clay and rubble so will need to do a lot of work or build raised beds to make it useable on a bigger scale but it's done wonders for my mental health.

I've seen the wonderful cards being made on here, has anyone else discovered a new hobby while in lockdown?

MrsJonesAndMe · 03/05/2020 13:59

@SunshineCake yes, you can't control stupid Wink They've been doing it the whole time - nothing in their behaviour has changed. The granny who lives on our street is still getting the bus - where to? Presumably to one of the childrens houses as town is shut! She never comes back with bags of food anyway and her husband drives, so they could go to Tesco which is less than a mile and not go on public transport. I'm just quietly seething. Bet they'd be the first to moan if they didn't get a hospital bed - probably in a Daily Mail sad face picture Grin

I'm supporting key workers to go and do their job and I feel guilty for not doing more @Foreverlexicon. Thank you for your sacrifice. Must be unbearable. Sending you a big (((hug))) Sound like your food yesterday and exercise was all good!

Well done @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 we have varying success thanks to slugs and snails that outsmart us - copper tape, egg shells, coffee grinds, whatever we try, they decimate stuff. We do have spinach beet, rocket, nasturtiums and sweetpeas currently surviving!

No flour of any variety or yeast in the shop today. Got pretty much everything else and enough in the cupboard for now, but want some SR for DH's birthday in a few weeks!

Take care all

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 03/05/2020 14:04

@mrsjonesandme

Asda and Morrison's have been decanting flour into bakery bags like the ones used for sausage rolls and selling it on the same aisle as the fresh baked bread. Asda near me are hiding it on the bottom shelf so only saw it by accident. 60p for a kilo bag.
