Welcome founding & new members alike. Jump on board the WoW wagon if you want to be slimmer, healthier, happier and more energetic! You've certainly come to the right place! These threads have been going for sometime now and seem well received. The ladies who post are supportive and inspiring in equal measure. There is no shaming, competition or harsh words.

As no one size fits all members generally follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless we will offer guidance and support if required.

Me personally? I keep on it by calorie counting, logging via MFP app, Intermittent fasting, eating a low carb Mediterranean style diet and staying well hydrated. I can’t emphasise enough the importance of drinking plenty of water. There are so many enjoyable options without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

Interested? Add your name, personal goals, eating/exercise plan etc.

Wednesdays will be WoW (weigh on Wednesday)

Sounds very sensible, I'm sure you'll do well. Yes, I'm telling myself that I can't control what's going on around me, but I can limit what damage I do by comfort eating!

Got up and straightened my hair, put on a casual jumper/jean/scarf combo that I've had compliments for and walk for an hour in the sun (windy though) Much better frame of mind. Even survived doing fractions with a 7 year old Wink

@SunshineCake could you do the NHS prescriptions pre payment to save a bit of money? I do it as I need a prescription every 4 weeks - costs £10.50ish per month (for 10 months of the year). Was well worth it when I had the extra prescriptions for antibiotics for my persistent ear infection! Regardless, hope you are feeling better today Flowers

@MustHaveBlankets I know what you mean about SW, I enjoyed (and still use) some of the recipes but it did rely on me being able to buy fresh fruit & veg fairly often. Just not possible at the moment! Our local parks have now put padlocks on the gates - helps (a bit) to explain to the DC that it isn't just Mummy being mean and not letting them go in...

@MrsJonesAndMe I'm in awe of you dressing up, I feel overdressed now if I'm out of pyjamas Grin no idea on the fractions though, I'm sure it's changed a lot since I last did them - I'm dreading my DC being old enough to ask me about multiplication and suchlike!

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/04/2020 07:22

@RubySlippers77 I still have to open the door/go for a walk. We've never been a live in PJs family, but definitely not dressy! I should sort medical exemption which I'm eligible for, but 9 months on haven't done Hmm

How are you all? @SunshineCake @Foreverlexicon @MustHaveBlankets

also @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 hope you're OK?

MustHaveBlankets · 01/04/2020 10:14

Well I managed 11k steps yday by jumping on the trampoline with my 3 year old dd and going for a walk around the block, this morning I tried (for about 4.3 seconds to do the joe wicks pe with ds (10) and gave up so don't think I'll hit double figures today.

I stayed under 1300 cals but I'm starving today so think a tough few days ahead, especially as the crave to binge takes a while to go too! Going to drink lots of water and hope that helps

SunshineCake · 01/04/2020 13:54

Hello!

Just back from hospital. Got sent there by the GP after my asthma nurse rang me to see how I was doing. He didn't want to admit me as felt safer to send me home but I've got strict instructions. Feel lousy. I have moderate CV.

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/04/2020 14:01

@sunshinecake I'm so pleased to hear from you. I was getting worried. Rest up - now it is doctors orders you have no choice!

Well done @MustHaveBlankets that's impressive baring in mind we're all stuck in. That's sounds like a low calorie count, but I've never done that.

RubySlippers77 · 01/04/2020 14:51

@SunshineCake I hope it was a weight off your mind to speak properly to someone? Completely agree that home (and isolation!) is better than hospital, we all know that hospital stays aren't usually restful glad they have given you a proper diagnosis and instructions anyway. Will the asthma nurse contact you again soon for an update?

I'm not usually a pyjamas during the day fan @MrsJonesAndMe but whilst I've been feeling rotten it would be lovely to have the option... not a hope though with two small DC to look after. DS1 has moaned relentlessly all day I've still got aches and pains and no sense of smell - would probably be on the mend if I didn't have to home school and could rest properly...

My Fitbit broke just before all this kicked off @MustHaveBlankets - I'm gutted - I think I'm doing my 10K a day but perhaps I'm just deluding myself!!

SunshineCake · 01/04/2020 16:14

Knowing how lovely my asthma nurse is I expect she will ring. She was cross that I hadn't phoned an ambulance already. I'm back in bed. Feel ok then tearful and when I can't breathe normally it is terrifying. Also not allowed my dog or cats on the bed with me. That is the worst thing. I haven't walked her for two weeks and she already knows something is wrong. Sad💔

fallfallfall · 01/04/2020 19:19

oh ladies....i did it again...rolled my right ankle (and chipped the bone where the ligaments attach) AND successfully broke my left leg.
so watching what i eat will be crazy important as i'm totally non weight bearing on the left and only feather weight bearing on the right.
will the six screws and plate add weight on the scale??
sunshine i'm sorry to hear about the asthma :( and i hope you feel better soon.

SunshineCake · 01/04/2020 19:44

*@fallfallfall Shock. You poor thing. Screws and a plate will add loads so you'll be doing better than you think.

Lots of fruit and veg and good protein etc will help though tbh I have had nearly a whole bar of chocolate today.

MrsJonesAndMe · 01/04/2020 21:10

Oh no @fallfallfall but I'm pleased to hear from you again too. Were you in hospital a while? What are things like over there? Sending you healing vibes.

Just take it as easy as you can @SunshineCake. You will get there, it's just going to be a slow process. Can the dog and cat come up to see you? Bet it will cheer you and them up.

Is DH still at work @RubySlippers77?

Reasonably good day here. Walked to school and back as the children still there made a big rainbow last week. DS spotted 28 other pictures and scooted round. Got 95% of the shopping list at Waitrose and hardly any queuing!

SunshineCake · 01/04/2020 22:01

Not allowed animals on the bed but my dog sneaked up Grin. I had gone downstairs to see her as was sad without her and cried Blush.

fallfallfall · 01/04/2020 22:01

i fell at 7:30 pm, went home and hummed and hawed about going in the emerg dept (knowing neither gary or i would sleep since we don't have x ray eyes). called an ambulance as i was not walking to the truck.
in preparation for covid, the department i went to was virtually empty they took several x rays and i was ready to go home by 1130 pm.
they sent me home with instructions to fast and come back to the ortho clinic at 0900am.
i saw the specialist at 0900, and was sent to surgery by 0930 primarily because i'm so fit and it will get me on my feet sooner. the OR was virtually empty with lots of staff on standby.
i had a general vs spinal and nerve block and was ready to go home about 4 pm. at no time was my hubby allowed in the building.
the anesthetist said this timeline was highly unusual but because of the staffing/preparedness i was "fortunate".
within this health district there are 107 confirmed cases, but realize in british columbia the health district is huge.
sadly so far people in the community must be mild and still going to what few work places are open because most of our cases are in being picked up in very very sadly long term care facilities (people who would literally be in the last 18 months of life). it has been mentioned that most of these people are not suitable for ventilation.
social distancing, very few workplaces remain open. and daily government briefings.
the financial piece doesn't apply to my husband or i so i haven't focused too much on that. although i have one son who was laid off, but my oldest is secure (works IT for a school district and teaching is going online) my daughter is in the UK close to downtown but lives in a house with yard. my mom is 87 and as per the government guidelines in the province of quebec is to home isolate for the duration. my brother shops for her.
here where i live there is no shortage of food or basics and with a costco in town were well stocked up.
my IT son lives in a very remote minuscule village and i always well stocked. my other son lives in a central location with loads of access.
i'm at the top of a hill in a subdivision with larger sized lots so i'm really really not seeing many people out at all.

RubySlippers77 · 01/04/2020 22:17

Oh @fallfallfall, sorry to hear that you've hurt yourself! Wishing you a speedy recovery Flowers at least it sounds like a decent situation where you are, no panic buying and everything is prepared in case things get worse.

That's a great idea about school @MrsJonesAndMe, ours is set back a bit from the road so we wouldn't be able to see, but a couple of local ones are nearby and we could have a look for pictures - the DC love rainbow spotting! DTS1 has been hideous today, before all this started I was trying to get an ASD assessment for him which of course will be massively delayed, but today he couldn't/ wouldn't concentrate on anything and has been generally appallingly behaved. DP is still working thank goodness but I know he'd have lost patience ages before me and gone upstairs to sulk rather than helping out/ giving extra attention.

Hope you enjoyed the (forbidden!) doggy cuddles @SunshineCake Smile

Foreverlexicon · 02/04/2020 09:00

Oh Jesus @fallfallfall that sounds horrendously painful!

I’m okay. The day before yesterday was a bad day, pretty much got into bed when I got in from work and stayed there until I went back. Yesterday was better and I went for a 4.5km run when I got home. Losing weight a little too fast as I’m struggling to eat properly but hey ho.

Miss my partner so badly. I’m a bit needy at the best of times and whilst I completely understand and support her reasons for moving, I hated it anyway. Now facing 3-6 months before I can see her and bleh. I’m very lonely and very jealous of everyone who is holing up with their loved ones. I really don’t know what I’m going to do when I go off on reserve in 2 weeks time. I’m just hoping this lockdown is lifted slightly by the start of May as I’ll of been off work long enough for it to be safe for me to visit by the end of my reserve period. I think it’s unlikely though.

MrsJonesAndMe · 02/04/2020 14:53

Oh crikey @fallfallfall I think you were lucky, but DH must have been frantic having to wait outside for you. Glad to hear you and the family are OK, Lodon quite the hotspot, so hope DD and G-kids stay safe.

Oh sweetheart that sounds tough @Foreverlexicon Does being in work help or worsen the isolation for you? How is GF's mum?

@SunshineCake that sounds like what you and Ddog needed. How are your kids and DH now?

@RubySlippers77 that sounds very tough for you and DS1. DS has a bit of stamina now, so we can go quite a way in our estate. We are making sure we go out every day. Worth posting on the SN board if you haven't to ask for some advice?

FWIW I could have run away screaming by the time I'd done our school work today and he's very capable. Irritated the hell out of me (we are all only human)

MrsJonesAndMe · 02/04/2020 14:54

Food related @MustHaveBlankets how are you doing? I'm roughly sticking to my 16:8 IF and making sure I get some exercise in. Walk and yoga at the moment!

fallfallfall · 02/04/2020 15:24

Well ladies it wasn’t painful yesterday and from my rolling computer chair I; washed and dried and put away dishes, made half the bed, cleaned the bathrooms (except the shower stall) and managed laundry...
I will not be doing that today...the discomfort is significant.
DH isn’t the type to worry about stuff that is standard (and hospital surgery would be considered pretty basic) although he’s not letting me transfer on my own.
Yesterday he made me oatmeal with fresh fruit for breakfast, a half chicken sandwich
for lunch (I was happy with the protein) and I had a small slice of pizza for supper. I behaved with my fluids no sugar or milk in my tea.
We roasted red peppers and I showed him how to peel off the skin. I’m looking forward to toast with red pepper and avocado. He made fresh bread yesterday and has really mastered using the organic spelt.
0700 and already two Tylenol extra strength, the prescribed tramacet has codeine in it that caused me great bowel problems after my breast surgery so I’m avoiding that and will take a laxative daily preventativly.
I had no patience with my trio, I really feel for those with young ones underfoot in tight quarters. Home schooling isn’t as easy to establish as it seems.
My Dd says she’s managing okay but I’m not convinced her food supply chain is satisfactory.

SunshineCake · 02/04/2020 16:37

*@RubySlippers77 I did enjoy doggy cuddles and she has been up today. Dh has realised the benefit to me is worth more than the never happened before allergic reaction / intolerance I am meant to suffer with.

*@MrsJonesAndMe - the kids and dh are all well though dd would say she has it. DS1 has made a cake and is also cooking dinner for us all.

I felt a bit better so folded up two items of laundry. I am now back in bed coughing, pain, breathing trouble so will not do that again.

fallfallfall · 02/04/2020 17:16

Well done for trying sunshine
I’m back in bed also. Visualizing the leg healing.

MustHaveBlankets · 02/04/2020 19:38

Blimey I hope everyone is ok

I've been rubbish on the steps and exercise but have been great with the calories 3 days in a row now, no snacks, no kids left overs, no sneaky biscuits when no one is looking!

SunshineCake · 02/04/2020 20:15
MrsJonesAndMe · 02/04/2020 20:22

No I'm not convinced with our food chain either @fallfallfall so I'm just trying not to think about it really! Nothing we can do - if we had to rely on producing our own food, we'd expire rather quickly - the slugs and cats seem to undo any of our efforts!

Tsk Tsk @sunshinecake you must rest! What day are you on now?

I did my yoga and I may have just killed myself Hmm felt OK at the time, but now I bloody well hurt!

That is a win @MustHaveBlankets

fallfallfall · 02/04/2020 20:58

My raised garden beds are a flight of stairs away....
Hubby is good but busy with the bees. And he hates weeding...
Even if I plant carrots today, the reality is the produce won’t be ready till fall.
