Welcome founding & new members alike. Jump on board the WoW wagon if you want to be slimmer, healthier, happier and more energetic! You've certainly come to the right place! These threads have been going for sometime now and seem well received. The ladies who post are supportive and inspiring in equal measure. There is no shaming, competition or harsh words.

As no one size fits all members generally follow their own way of eating. Nonetheless we will offer guidance and support if required.

Me personally? I keep on it by calorie counting, logging via MFP app, Intermittent fasting, eating a low carb Mediterranean style diet and staying well hydrated. I can’t emphasise enough the importance of drinking plenty of water. There are so many enjoyable options without the need to resort to extreme measures. Whatever way you choose, it needs to be enjoyable & sustainable for the long term. This is a long term commitment rather than a quick fix. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

Interested? Add your name, personal goals, eating/exercise plan etc.

Wednesdays will be WoW (weigh on Wednesday)

He is having a heart scan now. Couldn't remember if I said but he had a heart attack

MissDream · 22/02/2020 12:49

Hi Everyone

I was previously known as @BustedDreams. For some reason I am unable to log into that account. When I sign in it takes me to a previous user name.

I’ve created a new account to be able to send positive vibes to @SunshineCake. I’m so very sorry to read about your dh! I wish him a speedy recovery.

Sending good vibes to everyone else @Foreverlexicon
@Galvantula @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa @MrsJonesAndMe @annabell22 @fallfallfall .... apologies if I’ve missed anyone.

I’m trying to get my previous account back! This account won’t even allow me to attach pics. My MumsNet is proper broken.

NorthernPowermouse · 22/02/2020 19:12

Thinking of you and your DH Sunshine.

I’ve had a shocking week, half term has NOT been good for the diet. Too scared to get on the scales so will try to have a good week then weigh again next weekend.

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/02/2020 20:57

Oh no @sunshinecake I didn't realise it was a heart attack. I hope that you (and DH) are both feeling a bit better now...that you've had some rest and some food. It is often someone being kind in the smallest way that makes life easier/nicer. (((hug)))

I've had a shocking fortnight food wise, so Monday is day #1 again for me. Do you have a plan @NorthernPowermouse? I think I need to sit down and plan tomorrow

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/02/2020 20:58

Hi @MissDream how weird can technology be? Hope you're OK x

SheepSocks · 22/02/2020 21:04

I've fallen off the wagon big style this week. I caught hand, foot and mouth from my toddler. I've eaten an unhealthy amount of chocolate but will get back on the wagon on Monday.

SheepSocks · 22/02/2020 21:05

Sorry to hear your news @sunshinecake - thinking of you

SunshineCake · 22/02/2020 22:00

Thank you @MrsJonesAndMe and @SheepSocks.. Tbh I think I am still in shock. He told me not to go to the hospital but something made me ignore him and thank goodness I did as I got him seen sooner than he would have tried and he has come away with no damage to the heart muscle.

I just keep thinking about what could have happened or rather it just hits me at times. I've only told two friends who aren't local and saw a fried today but didn't tell them. He probably won't be home until Monday.

Worried about my sons now as BIL has a heart attack in December last year as well. PIL are fine.

RubySlippers77 · 24/02/2020 09:07

Sending you and your DH Flowers @SunshineCake and best wishes for a speedy recovery. I hope you are doing ok at home in the meantime, please try to look after yourself too (easier said than done, I know!)

Well, half term has been a real challenge here as I was ill - my cold turned into sinusitis, which turned into inner and outer ear infections - I've been exhausted, had awful stomach pains from the antibiotics I'm on, lost my appetite completely (almost unheard of!) and had to deal with the DTs most of the time... aarrgggghhhh. Where's school when you need it?! I thought at least I'd lost a bit of weight, as I really couldn't eat anything for a while and my clothes are looser, but turns out I've lost... half a pound Angry don't think all the illness has been worth it!

@Creativebee hope you are feeling better now after the horrendous AF? I had to go to the GP in the end about mine, and there still isn't a lot they can do Sad

@MissDream what a pain about your username/ MN account! I agree about the flowers though, we pass some crocuses on the way to school, lovely to see them out already!

Creativebee · 24/02/2020 09:21

RubySlippers77 feeling a lot better now thank you. I suffer every single month but this month was a lot worse due to being late (not sure if that’s due to IF, maybe a change in eating habits 🤔). I’ve had all the tests and scans and they can’t find anything or do anything. I was hoping if I lose weight maybe it would help but this weight isn’t budging ☹️.

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 24/02/2020 09:54

Looks like AF woes are the theme of the month, mine has decided to arrive with a jack hammer this month, feel like my innards are trying to thump their way out.

Glad to hear DH is coming along well sunshine, take care of yourself too!

RubySlippers77 · 24/02/2020 10:56

I was the same @Creativebee, after a few really heavy AFs the GP sent me for blood tests etc, but didn't find anything wrong. It isn't always that bad but when it is I can't leave the house! I think for me it's perimenopause (going from my age and symptoms) and yes, if I could lose a bit of weight it would probably make things easier too.

Hope you feel better soon too @TorysSuckRevokeArticle50. I did find that painkillers, hot water bottles etc helped but rest and gin worked the best for me!

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 24/02/2020 11:50

@RubySlippers77 got my feminax tablets and a huge vat of beef chilli to see me through. I get mega cravings for chocolate and red meat during AF, can't have chocolate so going with chilli with mushrooms and green beans on the side instead of my usual thickly buttered bread or rice.

Also subbed out the beans in the chilli for yet more mushrooms (good thing I love them) to reduce the calorie count, so one portion is 244 calories.

Today so far

B - half a grapefruit with 1/2 teaspoon of honey on to cut through the bitterness
S - medium skinny latte
L - portion of chilli with steamed green beans and mushrooms

490 calories

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/02/2020 12:43

Hi all, just checking in. Weight still maintaining at 13kg/28lbs loss so maybe not doing as badly as I thought.

Sending you Flowers Sucks to be a woman doesn't it??

How are you all today @SunshineCake? Don't worry about DS, he's young and indestructible at this stage. Just get yourself and DH though this bit x

SunshineCake · 24/02/2020 16:09

Hi everyone

Dh doing well. I'm shattered as didn't sleep well and my day started at five. I'm struggling with my asthma. Have done two extra ventolin puffs and two extra of my new inhaler but they haven't helped. If I take a deep breath it hurts as well.

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/02/2020 20:59

Look after yourself as best you can x

Foreverlexicon · 25/02/2020 09:51

Flowers to everyone who is poorly. I’m also still ill, trying to book a doctors appointment as it’s been going on 2 weeks and showing no signs of getting better.

I ate everything Saturday night and Sunday - turns out the gf makes an absolutely incredible cheesecake. Back firmly on the wagon yesterday which came to 1300 calories.

I want to lose 5lb by the 21st March so need to get back in the zone although I won’t be exercising until this wretched illness goes.

MotherOfLittlePeople · 25/02/2020 11:13

Well I skipped weigh in yesterday as I'd been completely off plan Sunday and yesterday. I'm not feeling brilliant at all and haven't since Friday. Trying to get back on it today but still feeling crap and feel like I've lost motivation. I have two stone left to lose having just lost two. So I'm finishing February losing 5lb x

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 25/02/2020 15:18

So much alcohol and so many calories consumed in the last week. Ah well. I will weigh in in the morning and draw the line. Pancakes for tea though. 😊

MrsJonesAndMe · 25/02/2020 21:22

Hi all, sorry to hear about all the germs doing the rounds!

How are you @SunshineCake?

SunshineCake · 25/02/2020 22:17

Hello @MrsJonesAndMe. I'm just about to go to bed as I've got my appointment tomorrow. But worried about leaving dh for 3 hours but he said he'll be fine. I am beyond exhausted and still feel like I am in shock as I get tearful when I think about what happened and how badly it could have gone.

fallfallfall · 26/02/2020 00:15

back after 1am but home :), i'll get up the courage to step on the scales soon.
overall a good visit with a few stressful moments.

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 26/02/2020 09:23

Morning WoWers. I have gained a well deserved 1lb this week, taking my loss for February to 8lbs. 👍🏻

RubySlippers77 · 26/02/2020 09:26

Hope you had a good rest @SunshineCake and that your appointment today goes well. Glad you got home ok @fallfallfall!

Well done on your 5lb loss @MotherOfLittlePeople Smile

And feeling solidarity with everyone who still has the lurgy!! My ear infection still hasn't gone completely (although thankfully is much better) and this cold weather is just unbearable for me. May have to make another trip to the GP when the antibiotics finish although they are snowed under so who knows if/ when I'd even get an appointment - fingers crossed I don't need it! Been so hungry in the last few days after spending last week feeling rotten and not eating much. This doesn't bode well for any weight loss plans...

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 26/02/2020 10:36

No loss this week so total for Feb is 5lb.

Hoping I'll weigh in a couple of days when AF is over and find I've lost more but who know. Keep plodding on.
