Happy New Year! Here we are! Not just a brand new year but a brand new decade. New decades always feel that bit more significant and life enhancing.

I, like many others, would love to embrace the Twenty Twenties feeling more svelte, toned, healthier & happier. A massive part of that is underpinned by what we eat, when we eat it and why? In turn, how we feel mentally underpins our eating habits. Eating feelings, celebratory meals out, food rewards etc. By being balanced and mindful around food will help us all stay on track.

I know that if I don’t keep on it by setting goals, logging, calorie counting, utilising time restricted eating, and eating a mostly Mediterranean style diet I would gain month on month. Diet and weight loss isn’t a one size fits all. There are so many enjoyable options. Personally If I eat a carb heavy diet I hold not only extra weight but also carry water. My whole silhouette blobs out. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

I’m petite in statue, have an under active thyroid (medicated) and every bit of extra weight shows. Previously I allowed myself to get obese but since dropping 20+ lbs I’m no longer in that category. I’m still working on getting my BMI into the ‘normal’ category and this is one of my goals for 2020.

The previous threads have proved wonderfully supportive and inspiring The ladies on these threads have been awesome and shared some great achievements!

Anyone like to join me in 2020?

@BustedDreams Very nearly into February... time passes so quickly! Enjoy yourself, it’s later than you think!

@creativebee the scales are a bit like a watched kettle, no action while you're looking. On a serious note, weight loss isn’t linear. Weight fluctuates throughout the day as well as from day to day. This is normal. There are many variables that can affect the fluctuations to a more or less degree. Including medications, alcohol, too many simple carbs, health, hormones, sleep patterns, exercise etc. It’s very frustrating when the scales don’t reflect our efforts to the degree we expect. Please don’t lose heart, this is a life long lifestyle change. Don’t deprive yourself. Have sensible portions and be honest to yourself about that. I know if I get out of weighing my food then return I’m always shocked how much they have increased in size over time. Use an app to see the long term trends rather than look for instant results. Hope the above link helps. You can do this!

Hang in there @Creativebee. If you look at previous threads where I have posted I have sulked many a time as I was the only one it seemed not losing weight, even when I felt I was doing well nothing came off. Then randomly I'll lose a pound or two when I genuinely don't understand what I did.

Just checking in. So glad we’re at the end of January, it’s felt like a very long month especially with the gf being away for most of it!

B - toast with peanut butter and jam
L - ham, cheese and salad wrap and grapes
S - roasted corn and chickpeas
D - Mediterranean pork, potatoes and veg
D - yoghurt

Took the horse to a comp and ran 5k so feeling rather pleased with myself! Taking a few months off trying to diet has done me wonders, I feel so sane around food!

Probably wont post tomorrow as working 7-5 then meeting the gf straight from work but planned food is;
B - protein shake
L - salad with mozerella and an amazing pesto dressing I found
S - grapes
D - going to a posh kebab place (more restaurant than 3am clubbing!), I’ve checked out the website and there’s a ‘kcal’ one for 586 calories so plan to have to have that, some mayo and pinch some of the gf’s chips.

So expect calories to come in at 1600-1700 which with a dinner out sounds great to me!

MrsJonesAndMe · 30/01/2020 20:45

Grin @BustedDreams

Can you share the pesto recipe when you have time @Foreverlexicon it sounds good. DH and DS made fresh pesto the other week - it was delicious!

fallfallfall · 30/01/2020 22:27

Thankfully I have one more day to TRY and flush the salt. Otherwise it looks like I’ve only lost .l lbs.
Yet I know better, so positive thoughts my plan to drink more water does what it’s suppose to do.

SunshineCake · 31/01/2020 08:06

Morning all.

End of the month and we've all done it and stuck together Star.

I started the month in 12 stone 7.8 lbs and I end after a tiny increase from yesterday on 12 stone 3lbs.

While the net loss is 4.8 lbs, and I know low compared to some but is still the suggested pound a week, I have actually lost 12.4 lbs over the month as I've gone up and down.

I feel I've gained more than a weight loss log though. I like to think I have found friends, I have learnt more about myself and how my childhood is affecting me and therefore I am not useless. I have learnt I don't understand the science of how I can lose when I have done badly in my eyes and gain when I feel I have done well but I still haven't learnt whether it is best for me to weigh daily, weekly or monthly Grin.

Off to walk the dog now then I will walk for an hour in a round trip to the supermarket.

Have a good day everyone.

SheepSocks · 31/01/2020 08:59

@SunshineCake I feel the same, everyone here is part of a support network. It's refreshing to be amongst women who are all together!

BustedDreams · 31/01/2020 09:56

Good Morning Ladies

1st January145lbs. I’ve bounced about a bit (normal for me).
Finished at 143lbs.
Overall Loss 2lbs.

If I do that every month that’s a potential year loss of 24lbs, which will see me at goal and beyond. I’d settle for losing 15lbs Grin

Here’s February’s Thread Grin

@SunshineCake why don’t you only weigh once a week on WoW for February? See how you get on.

@fallfallfall are you drinking sparkling or still water? The sparkling I drink is full of sodium Blush. Celery is a natural diuretic. That might help.

@Foreverlexicon hope you have a good shift!

February brace yourself, here we come Grin

Smile @SheepSocks.

@BustedDreams I will try weekly as it is only for a month and it won't be three stone going on.

I will carry on with IF but I am eating something now after my walk as I've been looking forward to it and I don't want to waste it. I'm feeling a bit my body isn't a dumping ground or a bin but this is something too nice to throw out whereas the left over homemade potatoes salad is early a week old and may go in the bin and not me as when I had some yesterday it was disappointing.

I'm not walking to the shop but will go on the bike. Feel free to reminder me!

LouHotel · 31/01/2020 10:45

Baaaaad day yesterday, DD2 was up all night and then woke for the day at 5am and no nursery for DD1 so just had to get through it. When I'm that tired with kids I just pick and pick. But!

I decided to go to bed with baby at 7pm last night so even though I woke up 4 times before 6am I feel well rested and heading out for a run in a bit before DH goes to work. Having a no sugar no meat to compensate the chocolate I ate yesterday.

SheepSocks · 31/01/2020 11:29

@LouHotel - I understand completely what happened to you. My 2 year old has started to wake in the night. I think it's to do with her potty training, and my go to is eating chocolate to get through the day, that's proving my hardest habit to break.

BustedDreams · 31/01/2020 12:13

@SheepSocks & @LouHotel it’s a thing that lack of sleep = increased appetite. Hero mums are up against it as it is without the lepton & ghrelin hormones giving you a hard time. I’d have healthy snacks and food available when only a good munch will do. Wholemeal toast and peanut butter is filling & comforting (if not gluten or nut intolerant). Or baked beans in place of the peanut butter. Branston BB are gluten free. Soups, not necessarily home made. Heinz are relatively nutritious and not calorie dense. I realise it’s hard to think what to eat when your attention is taken up by babies. Keep on it, you’ll be pleased you did come June when the sun is shining.

busted sparkling water isn’t a thing in Canada. But I’m down .9 since yesterday and think another .9 is possible if I drink and stay on top of the food (non salty choices) I also squeezed in some cardio...I hate cardio but jumped rope in between track laps and used the rowing machine while dh caught up to my 10,000 step minimum.

fallfallfall · 31/01/2020 18:00

I’m posting the recipe of the salty soup culprit; the cook used all half and half vs half and half with whipping cream...
But the salted meat, bistro seasoning, sauerkraut, and canned soup are loaded enough BUT he added in a packet of Knorr vegetable soup mix in there as well to take care of the veggie greens and carrot.
The flavor and texture was amazing BUT it will need serious tweaking.
