Happy New Year! Here we are! Not just a brand new year but a brand new decade. New decades always feel that bit more significant and life enhancing.

I, like many others, would love to embrace the Twenty Twenties feeling more svelte, toned, healthier & happier. A massive part of that is underpinned by what we eat, when we eat it and why? In turn, how we feel mentally underpins our eating habits. Eating feelings, celebratory meals out, food rewards etc. By being balanced and mindful around food will help us all stay on track.

I know that if I don’t keep on it by setting goals, logging, calorie counting, utilising time restricted eating, and eating a mostly Mediterranean style diet I would gain month on month. Diet and weight loss isn’t a one size fits all. There are so many enjoyable options. Personally If I eat a carb heavy diet I hold not only extra weight but also carry water. My whole silhouette blobs out. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

I’m petite in statue, have an under active thyroid (medicated) and every bit of extra weight shows. Previously I allowed myself to get obese but since dropping 20+ lbs I’m no longer in that category. I’m still working on getting my BMI into the ‘normal’ category and this is one of my goals for 2020.

The previous threads have proved wonderfully supportive and inspiring The ladies on these threads have been awesome and shared some great achievements!

Morning - bit of a whoosh here today.

Down 0.5kg to 57.8 (9st 1 and a bit lb). MFP says I've lost 20kg in total now since I first logged on. Shock

Need to stick at this I guess. Grin

I think I'd still be putting on weight or just losing/gaining/losing the same 2lb over and over without the support and accountability here, so thanks @BustedDreams and all :)

Galvantula · 24/01/2020 07:12

Stressful ilovetrees!

I'm always starving the week before my period though. So hard not to eat rubbish for me.

Foreverlexicon · 24/01/2020 07:43

Wow Galvantula thats amazing, well done!

Yesterday was a bit more snacky snacky less proper meals but I stayed around 1800 calories tops which I’m pleased with.

Only a half night tonight then nights so going to have to work hard to hold it together as I tend to struggle a bit. Also not feeling very well but I’m hoping it’s lack of sleep and coffee and a nap later will put me right.

SunshineCake · 24/01/2020 07:44

Just a quick hello and log in as have to do the school run for a change.

I am 0.6 lb down since yesterday. Can I claim it when it's weight I've already lost once ?Confused.

Winecheesesleep · 24/01/2020 07:52

Well done @annabell22 that's great, exercise is phase 2 for me, I really want to get fitter this year.

Amazing @Galvantul, you must be feeling great!

MrsJonesAndMe · 24/01/2020 13:48

Just a quick pop in. Well done @Galvantula that is amazing.

user1468234673 · 24/01/2020 15:40

Great thread. How's everyone's weight loss journeys going?

I started LighterLife on the 3rd Jan and so far I've lost 12lbs which I'm so happy with.

The products taste better than expected too which is a bonus.

My goal is my holiday in June. What's your motivation?

fallfallfall · 24/01/2020 20:34

Hello everyone, all’s well over here! My Seville oranges arrived and the jam set nicely...too many taste tests but par for my days.
Busy knitting for the granddaughter this time, a challenging piece, very very challenging.
But no problem sticking to the steps/track/IF etc.
Probably could drink more water vs tea.
Still 149 and pleased to stay at that till Feb.

Galvantula · 24/01/2020 20:51

In a slight drip feed I first logged in to MFP about 5 years ago 😂

I lost a stone before I got pregnant with DC3, then put on loads while pregnant. Then I lost about most of the weight within a year or so.

This is the most sustained weight loss I've done in a long time.

Accountability helps I think!

Skyejuly · 24/01/2020 20:55

I'm eating my Maltesers :(/in my Cal allowance but I feel so bad as not ideal but I was going to binge!

Galvantula · 24/01/2020 21:08

I'm not in my Cal allowance eating hand made fudge I got for Christmas. And 🍷. BlushBlush

Hopefully staying on track next week....

Skyejuly · 24/01/2020 21:14

Sometimes it has to be done!

Galvantula · 24/01/2020 21:29

It was good fudge to be fair 😅

ilovetrees30 · 24/01/2020 21:53

Oops mindlessly ate some tortilla chips tonight. Cant even log the cals because I have no idea how many I ate. All this Infertillity stuff and my period arriving tomorrow just mean I eat.

NorthernPowermouse · 25/01/2020 07:16

I mindlessly ate chocolate last night. We had a friend over so had some drinks and my self control went out of the window. Rubbish. I haven’t even got an excuse (other than the week from hell at work).

Hope you’re ok ilovetrees30.

MrsJonesAndMe · 25/01/2020 08:19

That sounds tough @ilovetrees30 In your circumstances, no one blames you for that reaction. Feel free to talk about it here if you want, we are all happy to listen to non food stuff too.

BustedDreams · 25/01/2020 09:33

Good Morning All

Great to hear about the losses.

I totally get the ladies who are feeling despondent. When you are doing what you think are all the right things but not seeing results is really disappointing. I’d say keep on it in a sensible way. Don’t overly restrict yourself, have treats and enjoyable food. Perhaps shift your focus from the scales and take notice of how you feel and how you look. Are you clothes becoming looser? Are you more energised? I particularly feel more energised after exercise/activity and it serves as a distraction from food and conversely dampers my appetite (unless swimming which makes me ravenous)

Keep on it ladies ... visualise how you want to look and feel in a week, month, in a year or by your holiday etc. This is a lifelong commitment to feeling and being your best.

Have a great weekend ladies ... me, I’m making marmalade whilst the Seville oranges are available Grin

fallfallfall · 25/01/2020 09:53

Wow amazing I certainly don’t meet too many who make jam, certainly not marmalade. I also do grape (from our own fruit) and one batch of a berry jam (last summer I did raspberry).
I’ll bring some to give away to my daughter and family.
But this will suffice for a year.

2020newme · 25/01/2020 10:17

Checking in.

I have had an infected wisdom tooth removed so feel like I have been hit around the head with a hammer. Also on killer antibiotics and feel sick.

On the plus side, I can barely eat Grin

Slinks back to sofa with blankie...

BustedDreams · 25/01/2020 10:35

@fallfallfall I’ve just used up the last of the raspberry jam I made last year so I can rinse the jar and use it for the marmalade Grin. Nothing taste as good as home made! And it’s very satisfying to see all the jewelled jars lined up after you’ve filled them.

BustedDreams · 25/01/2020 10:35

@2020newme sorry to hear that! Toothache pain is the worst! Hope you feel better soon.

Foreverlexicon · 25/01/2020 12:39

Good day yesterday for me. Around 1800 cals and mostly healthy. Didn’t really do any exercise beyond basic horse care and walking at work but pleased with that given it was a half night.

Going onto nights which is where I usually start to struggle but then I’m off and weigh day is looming so I will be good!!
Will ride before work and maybe get a quick run/shred in but I don’t mind if I don’t, nights are about survival!

annabell22 · 25/01/2020 17:49

@2020newme I hope you feel better soon.

I have spent HOURS in the kitchen today. Made chana masala for DH to take for bring and share work lunch tomorrow. Made sweet potato and chickpea Moroccan stew, which is lush and had some for dinner with couscous (and turned out to be under 400 cals for both). Made a chocolate sponge cake that I can't even eat (not a vegan recipe) because DH was craving it, but although the recipe said 30 mins and we got it out at 25 it was burned on the bottom when I got it out of the tins. He also wanted a whipped cream filling as he dislikes buttercream, so he whipped the cream and nothing happened for ages until a millisecond later it split, so the whole cake was really just a waste of time, money and effort! Then I made little raw energy balls with dates, almond butter, oats and chia seeds and rolled them in desiccated coconut. After all that I was really quite fed up with food and couldn't really be bothered to have dinner!

Not much exercise today, just a fair bit of walking to my book club and back. Hopefully gym tomorrow.

@BustedDreams I was a bit despondent after losing only 100g in the first week, but I'm down 1.8kg since 1 Jan and I'm ok with that.

LouHotel · 25/01/2020 22:46

Can I join in, weight 12st6lbs on New Year’s Day, have hit it hard and now 11st11lb but feel my resolve going mainly as my 11 month old has woken up hourly the past 3 nights so I just want to stuff my face with chocolate.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 26/01/2020 09:53

Still not started and can’t decide what approach to take. What has worked best for everyone here?
