Happy New Year! Here we are! Not just a brand new year but a brand new decade. New decades always feel that bit more significant and life enhancing.

I, like many others, would love to embrace the Twenty Twenties feeling more svelte, toned, healthier & happier. A massive part of that is underpinned by what we eat, when we eat it and why? In turn, how we feel mentally underpins our eating habits. Eating feelings, celebratory meals out, food rewards etc. By being balanced and mindful around food will help us all stay on track.

I know that if I don’t keep on it by setting goals, logging, calorie counting, utilising time restricted eating, and eating a mostly Mediterranean style diet I would gain month on month. Diet and weight loss isn’t a one size fits all. There are so many enjoyable options. Personally If I eat a carb heavy diet I hold not only extra weight but also carry water. My whole silhouette blobs out. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

I’m petite in statue, have an under active thyroid (medicated) and every bit of extra weight shows. Previously I allowed myself to get obese but since dropping 20+ lbs I’m no longer in that category. I’m still working on getting my BMI into the ‘normal’ category and this is one of my goals for 2020.

The previous threads have proved wonderfully supportive and inspiring The ladies on these threads have been awesome and shared some great achievements!

My scales have not moved. Ughh. I need to stop this daily weighing as my main focus was health and I am healthier....just not thinner yet+

ilovetrees30 · 22/01/2020 07:29

Morning. Sorry I have been AWOL life has been hectic. Had a couple of days not recording my food as I was away and limited with my options but for january so far I am down 5.25lbs so not much change this week. My period is due this weekend though and I normally put on a fair bit of water weight!

MrsJonesAndMe · 22/01/2020 07:59

Morning all, just running in quick as it's WoW - 13.4kg/29.5lbs down in total now Halo Not even trying to lose now, just seems to be happening by still doing 16:8...

Hope everyone else has great results!

BustedDreams · 22/01/2020 08:08

Good Morning You Lot

WOW is 142.8lbs.
Last wk 144.9lbs.
Loss of 2.1lbs.

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa How was work? I don’t know how SW works. We are having Chicken Heck later. I think they are the low fat ones (only ones available at the time, I don't avoid fat, I avoid sugar).

@fallfallfall I can think of worse places to be stuck at .... the Pub for one Grin Well done! You are such an active person.

Im getting my books out later as wanting to mix it up a bit menu wise. Today’s menu is omelette for lunch and Heck sausage & veg tray bake for evening meal.

Enjoy your day!

Quick Wow post.

58.4 today, down 0.3kg for the week, and 3.9kg since I joined the thread :)

SunshineCake · 22/01/2020 08:44

Morning all.

Same weight today as yesterday which is two pounds up since Monday. What I find interesting is that while I was disappointed I am okay as I can see where the weight might have gone on and I know I've still had positives from doing IF.

Had a strawberry, banana, blueberries and quark milkshake for breakfast. As it is a drink I am hoping it will be okay. Emotionally I am struggling with life stuff so better than chocolate.

Good day to you all.

Skyejuly · 22/01/2020 10:36

I'm 10st today so overall loss of 4lb I think I this week....but scales not moved in 2 days x

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 22/01/2020 11:21

Morning all -WoW, just a 1lb loss this week. 🙁 I'm a bit gutted tbh. I had a perfect week food wise so was expecting a bit more.

I'm now back at work, albeit only for a few hours but it's an increase in activity. I'm also still trying to cycle 10k a day too.

Desperately want to break into the next stone bracket next week.

Have a great day everyone.

BustedDreams · 22/01/2020 12:46

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa I share your frustration. There is nothing more disheartening than not getting rewarded on the scale when you’ve been on point. I’m also wanting to break another stone milestone. So near, yet so elusive! We can do it! We can. Might not be as quick as we’d like but by being consistent with our plans it will happen. Keep the faith.

Some great results!

Hope work goes well and just keep at it @WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa

I'm off to McDs this afternoon between school and activities, but there you go!

Thinking of you @SunshineCake you can do it, just an hour at a time x

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 22/01/2020 14:07

Thank you both. I'm not giving up because it just won't help will it? I gave myself the year to lose this weight, and I need to accept it IS going to take that long. Ah well.

2020newme · 22/01/2020 19:19

Wow

Starting Weight 12:9
Week 1 12:4 Loss 5lbs
Week 2 12:2 Loss 2lbs
Week 3 12:1 Loss 1lb
Total Loss 8lbs

I am happy to have even lost a pound to be honest as my routine has gone to pot the past four days. All back to normal tomorrow so I should lose more next week.

Also, a pound of fat is two half pound packs of butter or lard and that is quite a lot really isn't it? I will be aiming to get below 12 stone.

Foreverlexicon · 22/01/2020 19:32

Sounds like everyone is doing really well!
I’m not joining in with Wednesday weigh ins due to shifts - if it falls on a day where I haven’t had much sleep I’ll be disappointed! I usually weigh on my second rest day once I’ve recovered from nights.

Relatively good day here;
Breakfast was banana and cereal bar
Jaffa cake and a jam tart for a snack
Pear for a snack
Ended up skipping lunch as was busy at work so had a stollen bite (100 calories for a mouthful, tempted to throw the rest away as it was nice but not worth that!) and a packet of sun bites.

Did the 30 day shred
Asian chicken with rice and stir fry veg for dinner with a yoghurt for pud

Not the healthiest with skipping lunch for snacks but that’s how it goes sometimes.

BustedDreams · 23/01/2020 06:45

Good Morning Ladies

Some great results being posted! Well done!

Had a heap of stress yesterday. Won’t go into detail but it was unsettling. Later I semi unconsciously sat down with a cup of tea, bag of crisps and a small bar of chocolate. I opened the crisps and unwrapped the chocolate. I ate one small square of chocolate and 2 small crisps. Then I stopped after identifying I wasn’t hungry, just simply eating my feelings. I was a little over my cal allowance but avoided a total blow out.

Today’s menu is home made soup & fish tray bake. Fruit. White tea, water. Might have a turmeric nut milk latte.

Have fun!

@SunshineCake Hope you’re ok.

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa No, don’t give up! At least the scales are going in the right direction. You can do this.

@2020newme I hadn’t thought about weight in those terms...1lb really is quite a bit! Makes me wonder how I’m carrying so many of them though 🙈

I weighed this morning and I’ve lost another 1lb with which I’m pleased given Saturday’s transgressions... Going out for lunch today so will try to be good.

Have a good day everyone!

SunshineCake · 23/01/2020 07:55

@BustedDreams good recovery there. I think I might have been doing a bit of emotional eating yesterday. I knew it though. When I think it is I do usually stop and think and then feel I am hungry hungry so do have something small but then I am wondering it I'm confusing the feelings?

Thank you @MrsJonesAndMe and @NorthernPowerMouse. I'm still feeling a little under the influence of my hard therapy session yesterday but I know exactly what I am doing today and eating for both meals so that will help. My dog will also see her best friend today and they always have a lot of fun so that will be lovely.

Well done on all the maintaining, losses and good choices. Plus exercising.

I'm confused to find myself a pound down today. I had my first packet of sweets of the year yesterday plus three of DHs chocolates and a sour dough bagel as an early supper. Am I right in thinking in what I eat one day, when not such great choices mainly, and indeed do well won't show on the scales until at least two days later?

Galvantula · 23/01/2020 08:21

I'd say it's more your overall average calories, not instant.

I can have a really "bad" day but I can see on MFP that my average for the week is still close to target.

So I try to balance out higher calorie eating buy reading a lighter meal that day, or by using to balance it out better for the week.

Galvantula · 23/01/2020 08:23

*by eating

Creativebee · 23/01/2020 09:28

I’ve not checked in recently, things have been really manic at home. I’ve started intermittent fasting but I’m confused because some websites link Keto diet with intermittent fasting. Apparently the two together really boost weight loss. Anyone able to give any advice? Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Skyejuly · 23/01/2020 10:04

Keep going everyone. I'm still maintaining...😶

MrsJonesAndMe · 23/01/2020 13:09

Hi all

Keep going @SunshineCake and gentle (((hugs))) With regards to food, I think it's overall as well rather than I've eaten badly, I will gain weight tomorrow.

@BustedDreams sounds like a good ave there. Hope today is less stressful.

@Creativebee I suppose that if you combine the two you would be having massive losses. I've found wheat to be a big contributor in my losses, but have lost while still eating flapjack, sweet potato, normal potatoes and rice

Well done @NorthernPowermouse and @2020newme

Ticking along here. Hate January with such a passion. Cannot wait for it to be over!

Winecheesesleep · 23/01/2020 23:57

Just checking in, I'm 6.5 pounds down since the beginning of January and my willpower is still going strong which I'm thrilled about. A couple of things that are really working for me:

  • Planning meals for the week and doing a weekly shop. I'd fallen out of the habit of doing this and was doing mini shops after work trying to think of healthy ideas on the spot while wrangling the kids.
  • Doing dry January - my calorie allowance goes much further when I'm not keeping any back for wine
  • Tracking everything in My Fitness Pal
  • Taking lunch to work every day
  • If I'm eating out, trying to go for places with calorie counts on the menu/packaging. This sounds a bit rubbish but it's only short term.
  • Switching from cappuccinos to Americanos - seriously saved loads of calories doing this as I love coffee!
  • Remembering that if I can keep this going for just a few months I'd be at my goal weight for a trip to London in April and our summer holiday. And I'm actually really enjoying the food and it's healthy.

Ive also been fortunate that I've had a run of weeks with not much going on socially because that's always tricky, I've got more going on from next month so I know it'll get harder. Hope everyone else is doing well.

annabell22 · 24/01/2020 06:57

@winecheesesleep sounds like your plan is really effective, great progress.

I'm now 1.5kg down for January, still really enjoying Veganuary too. I fast from 8.30pm to 4pm most days but not Saturdays as that's when I relish my weekly hot chocolate.

I went to the gym after work yesterday and met another one of my 2020 goals- I ran 5km in under 30 minutes. I knew I could if I just made the effort. Several minutes off my PB but I'm ok with that, I'm not in my 20s (or even my 40s!!)

Hope everyone has a good day.

ilovetrees30 · 24/01/2020 07:07

Struggling a lot this week with feeling hungry and not really losing much. I am wondering if its a mix of my period being due this weekend and the fact I finally have my date for my laparoscopy for an endometrial cyst which is the back end of next week. Hopefully I can ignore the hormonal and emotional eating but i failed yesterday. Was still at only just about 1500 calories. But it wasnt the best use of my calories if that makes sense.
