Happy New Year! Here we are! Not just a brand new year but a brand new decade. New decades always feel that bit more significant and life enhancing.

I, like many others, would love to embrace the Twenty Twenties feeling more svelte, toned, healthier & happier. A massive part of that is underpinned by what we eat, when we eat it and why? In turn, how we feel mentally underpins our eating habits. Eating feelings, celebratory meals out, food rewards etc. By being balanced and mindful around food will help us all stay on track.

I know that if I don’t keep on it by setting goals, logging, calorie counting, utilising time restricted eating, and eating a mostly Mediterranean style diet I would gain month on month. Diet and weight loss isn’t a one size fits all. There are so many enjoyable options. Personally If I eat a carb heavy diet I hold not only extra weight but also carry water. My whole silhouette blobs out. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

I’m petite in statue, have an under active thyroid (medicated) and every bit of extra weight shows. Previously I allowed myself to get obese but since dropping 20+ lbs I’m no longer in that category. I’m still working on getting my BMI into the ‘normal’ category and this is one of my goals for 2020.

The previous threads have proved wonderfully supportive and inspiring The ladies on these threads have been awesome and shared some great achievements!

@SunsetBoulevard3 I am calorie counting using myfitnesspal and making sure I dont eat back my exercise calories. Although I have completely fallen off the bandwagon this weekend. Sodding hormones!!

MrsJonesAndMe · 26/01/2020 14:15

I do Intermittent Fasting @SunsetBoulevard3

I've gained a kilo this week - that'll be 2x take out and a period. I'm sure it'll come off again!

Sending you all positive vibes.

Pelobates · 26/01/2020 14:49

I'm doing a combination of WFPB (whole food plant based - spend 2 years slowly transitioning on to that so it is more like going deeper than a change), calorie counting (usually in range 1250-1450 kcal/day) and (sort-of) intermittent fasting (trying to get on to 16:8 but I'm still more like 15:9/14:10 at the moment...I may just accept that).
I'm trying to make somethings permanent changes in a bid to stop the yo-yo dieting.

Foreverlexicon · 26/01/2020 15:31

I’m basically eating less, healthier and exercising more. I have a long history of eating disorders so if I go too extreme, I get obsessive and start binging.

I’m pleased with how I’m handling my nights this set. My calories are probably around 1700-2000 so not ideal for weight loss but I’ve kept it pretty healthy. I haven’t had anything remotely close to a binge for months now which I’m super pleased with!

I didn’t run yesterday. I was all dressed and ready to go when my gf rang me, she’s away for a few weeks and due to my shifts we hadn’t spoken much for a few days so I chatted to her instead then ran out of time.
I’ll do something before work today but it may only be 10 min of abs exercises as it’s pouring with rain and I don’t run in the rain and my housemate is home and I don’t feel like she needs to see me doing the shred 😂

One more nightshift and then I’m off. Will weigh on Tuesday!

MrsJonesAndMe · 26/01/2020 20:27

Well done @Foreverlexicon a Star for you

I've done 16:7, done yoga, taken my tablets etc. Not bad for a cold and period!

@SunshineCake how are you doing?

ilovetrees30 · 27/01/2020 09:24

Its interesting with the daily weigh in. Apparently i lost 3/4lb between Saturday and Sunday and then out it back on for this mornings weigh in. But i did eat a lot of processed food yeah and my period arrived full flow at 2am this morning (thanks for that wake up call body!!) so will be interesting to watch what it does this week.

MotherOfLittlePeople · 27/01/2020 10:26

Just checking in. Last weigh day today for January for me. I lost -2.5lbs bringing my total Loss of January to 8lb x

DrDiva · 27/01/2020 11:52

Morning everyone! Time has run away from me again, and I am yet again way behind in the thread. I shall come and read properly when I am not supposed to be doing work Blush and in the meantime, I hope you are all well, and I announce that this year I have lost the princely amount of 2lbs. Oh well, at least it’s in the right direction!

MrsJonesAndMe · 27/01/2020 12:45

Sending hugs @ilovetrees30

waves @drDiva it's better than nothing.

Well done @MotherOfLittlePeople

I'm hoping to be a bit more in control today. Full of cold but period on it's way out now.

Finished the 6 episodes from Jason Fung. Very interesting stuff and now onto a video from him called Therapeutic Fasting if anyone is interested in that. explains the theory behind it.

Good luck all!

SunshineCake · 27/01/2020 12:58

Hi @MrsJonesAndMe lovely of you to think of me. I've had a difficult weekend so not surprised I am up today. If I had weighed January 1st and today and nothing in between I would be just over a pound down. In reality 8 have lost about eight but it keeps going back on. Today I start again.

I was exhausted over the weekend so did have breakfast both days, had some crisps and chocolate and today I'll have soup and maybe shepherds pie for tea or else home made potato salad.

MrsJonesAndMe · 27/01/2020 18:23

Just keep on hanging on sweetheart.

I have stopped eating now (8hr window). Taken my vitamins, body brushed, lots of water and chocolate, pasta and garlic bread About to do yoga.

BustedDreams · 27/01/2020 19:31

Evening All

Had a very busy weekend/Monday and only just got round to popping in on the thread. Stayed mostly to plan with the addition of Strawberries & cream after my evening meal of home made stew.

Welcome @LouHotel, @SunsetBoulevard3 & @Pelobates, jump right in. Read thread to get an idea of how these threads work. Some great posters on here who are happy to support & motivate.

@DrDiva hi 👋 nice loss.

@MotherOfLittlePeople fabulous result for January! 🏅👏🌟 Well done!

Keep on it ladies whilst being kind to yourselves. It’ll be worth it.

Thank you @BustedDreams and @MrsJonesAndMe over the moon with it. Not far to go now for 2 stone loss in total. Just hoping my losses keep up.

Good luck every one else for your weigh ins.

LouHotel · 27/01/2020 19:55

I’m only weighing myself every two weeks and doing it so I don’t weigh when I’m about to go on my period.

Breastfeeding is really throwing everything off for me so I’m trying to do specific fat burn HIIT training and then not eating for 2 hours after.

Had a smoothie for breakfast, homemade cauliflower soup for lunch and chicken, rice and salad for tea.

SheepSocks · 27/01/2020 21:19

I fell off the wagon this week, I had a short break to Milan and just had to try real Italian pizza. Over the 3 days I was there I did nearly 50k steps in total so hoping the scales won't be too brutal!

fallfallfall · 27/01/2020 23:18

hello, just letting everyone know all is well over here. i'm very content with my wt loss this month a solid solid pound possibly two which is almost miraculous for me and my bod.
loads of walking and i need very little to reach my apple watch january challenge 1590 exercise minutes for the month. and i'm at 360 days of meeting my exercise goals since christmas 2018 (i got the watch on christmas but didn't start using it till after the 29th).
slow and steady is my goal. not sure what will be realistic for feb.
i'll be visiting my daughter in the uk from the 7th to the 24th. so two long flights with preserved (salty) food...blurgh and heaven knows what my dd will feed us...always a nightmare

Foreverlexicon · 28/01/2020 06:21

Weigh day for me and I’ve lost 3.2lb in the last 10 days!

That’s a total of 4.4lb for January as I won’t weigh in again this month and I only started on the 10th so I’m pleased with that!

Aims for the next 10 days is to continue with the healthy eating/exercise and but also swap my cappuccino habit at work for white coffee and swap 1 meal a day for a meal replacement bar/shake a day (mainly as I need to get rid of them!).

I’m aiming for a further 8lb down by the end of March and then another stone from that by mid June for a holiday.

I’ll let myself have a few treats the next few days - some chocolate tonight, Dutch chocolate sprinkles on toast for breakfast tomorrow (these need using up before they go off and they are too good and I have them too rarely to go to waste!) and possibly a meal out on Friday as my gf is back but basically I’m letting myself have those 3 things as treats each set.

Plans for today are a lesson on the horses, 30 day shred, some chores and playing with my new cat!

Foreverlexicon · 28/01/2020 06:23

@SheepSocks I think when in Milan you have to enjoy it! It’s all good and well losing weight but it needs to balance with real life too.

@fallfallfall that sounds like it might be a challenge, I would just try and make good choices but make the most of seeing your daughter and what will be will be with the scales!

Skyejuly · 28/01/2020 07:30

When I went to Rome I didn't actively diet but i tried to be mindful. Don't restrict as you will regret the trip.

SunshineCake · 28/01/2020 11:32

Hi

Same as yesterday. No loss since Friday and have gone up. Right now I'm so hungry but I've got some water and sitting for a bit as I'm so tired. I can eat after my dog has her lunch at 12.30. I'm disappointed I've not lost anything never mind being up but while I feel like crying I feel like something more emotional is going on and I have no clue what.

BustedDreams · 28/01/2020 14:29

Hi @SunshineCake bless ya’ lovie. If you are truly hungry I would eat. Something warming & comforting like soup and buttered gluten free toast. Then have a nap if time/commitments allow. Your body might need it. Hope your ok.

@LouHotel your menu sounds lovely.

@SheepSocks wow 50k Steps in a weekend. Well done! You deserve pizza after that!

@fallfallfall you are so committed and consistent you truly deserve your loss! Well done. Are you coming to the north or south of the UK?

@Foreverlexicon bloody well done! That’s great progress.

I had a light lunch of tinned salmon and Nairn’s gluten free flat breads. Off out tonight, meal then the theatre. Looking forward to it. I know it’s WOW tomorrow but tonight was bought as a gift for Christmas, so will have the good grace to enjoy it fully.

Have fun! But not too much it’s wow tomorrow Grin

SunshineCake · 28/01/2020 16:19

Hi @BustedDreams Thank you. I waited until doggy had her lunch then had homemade butternut squash soup and then mince pies for after. Couldn't sleep as had to go for an appointment. Quick trip to Asda for fruit and GF crackers. I'm sore and emotional after my appointment and now have a headache. DS doing his own tea. DD not back yet and DH at work until after eight and maybe ten so hopefully once everyone is fed I can just lay on the sofa for a bit.

I'll weigh tomorrow again and then try and weigh less than daily.

fallfallfall · 28/01/2020 17:13

busted about two miles from big ben.
the grocery stores are different than I’m use to, her oven is different and I don’t have any of my cook books. The children are fussy and dd’s partner is fussy as well. dd is most likely on a vegetarian or lentil kick but craves meat and is hangry 50% of the time.
Last time one of the first and worst meals was...boiled barley with puréed veg so the mushy lot was khaki brown and tasted like dishwater “the kids need to eat their veggies” that was all that was served. Thankfully there’s a baker nearby with lovely fresh bread, a veggie grocer ( who only takes change) and two delis that have bailed me out on several occasions. Then comes time management drama “mom why are you doing dishes (almost the only useful thing I can do) your taking dgs to school NOW.
Each visit includes drama, loads of laundry for several visits washed in conditioner of some type as there does not seem to be recognizable laundry soap brands. Stairs, three flights. Multiple exits that the little ones use to cause me constantly run around in circles; down the stairs out the garage to put the scooters out front then they open the front door I go in a different way only to find the little one in the back garden. By the time I exit via the kitchen he’s entered via the gym or workshop...
And I get the critical side eye 90% of the time, “mom it takes me 19 minutes” to walk dgs to school, I’ve given you 15, you’ll have to run, and don’t get lost this time. On go the yoga pants and tee shirt off I run, there and back to be met with “you’ll need to change, I’m taking you for brunch” hurry the table and Uber are booked...that was last visit the one before that included an impromptu group workout with kettle balls.
I’m stressed remembering all this. Zen I need zen...

MrsJonesAndMe · 28/01/2020 17:27

Oh gosh @fallfallfall that sounds very stressful. When my parents come over I know we all struggle with the change in dynamics - they are the parents, but here I'm in charge but I will never expect my parents to take the kids to school or anything like that. They do like doing jobs otherwise they get bored, so washing, cleaning, washing up and gardening I let them get on with thankfully, but otherwise we try to just do nice things like day trips. (Also they come in August not Feb when everyone is in school - a bit of waste)

Weight wise I'm down again. Just really really want to get to February now. I've had enough of everlasting Jan!

Enjoy tonight @BustedDreams you deserve it.

(((hugs))) and Flowers @SunshineCake

fallfallfall · 28/01/2020 17:41

I love doing the school run though, the nursery both grand kids attended is lovely and over the years the main teacher has gotten to know me. I did school tours for the oldest and hope to do one for the little fellow this visit.
Dh spends the days sourcing food, like a proper hunter gatherer ;), which sometimes means he’s lost.
I held my own at the gym challenge and looked well put together for the breakfast date. I’ve always met the time challenges as well.
I’ve bought myself new trail shoes to make the walking/running easier.
