Happy New Year! Here we are! Not just a brand new year but a brand new decade. New decades always feel that bit more significant and life enhancing.

I, like many others, would love to embrace the Twenty Twenties feeling more svelte, toned, healthier & happier. A massive part of that is underpinned by what we eat, when we eat it and why? In turn, how we feel mentally underpins our eating habits. Eating feelings, celebratory meals out, food rewards etc. By being balanced and mindful around food will help us all stay on track.

I know that if I don’t keep on it by setting goals, logging, calorie counting, utilising time restricted eating, and eating a mostly Mediterranean style diet I would gain month on month. Diet and weight loss isn’t a one size fits all. There are so many enjoyable options. Personally If I eat a carb heavy diet I hold not only extra weight but also carry water. My whole silhouette blobs out. I also rarely drink alcohol and keep sugar to a minimum. I exercise by walking & swimming.

I’m petite in statue, have an under active thyroid (medicated) and every bit of extra weight shows. Previously I allowed myself to get obese but since dropping 20+ lbs I’m no longer in that category. I’m still working on getting my BMI into the ‘normal’ category and this is one of my goals for 2020.

The previous threads have proved wonderfully supportive and inspiring The ladies on these threads have been awesome and shared some great achievements!

Anyone like to join me in 2020?

Good Morning ... did you know today is otherwise known as Blue Monday. Not for us proactive souls! We’ve taken charge of how we eat, what we eat and making concerted efforts to move more. Monday can be whatever you want it to be. For me it’s going to be an active day where I bottom a spare room and shift and sort some clothes for charity and looking forward cooking & eating my evening meal.

Menu today is salad for lunch and Homemade Chicken, mushroom & Leek Pie (a small top crust only, loads of filling!), cabbage, peas & carrots for evening meal. All CC and within limits.

@fallfallfall every time I think of a mandolin now I get sharp stabby sensations.

@Galvantula Well done On swerving the emotional eating!

How’s everyone? Wishing you all a good day!

Morning!
Today will be a so:so day. Riding the horse this morning and plan to get a 30 day shred in. However I’m going to play ping pong and have waffles with a friend for her birthday (there’s always something!)

Ryvitta with peanut butter and banana for breakfast
Waffles for lunch
Veggie burger in a pita with sweet potato and salad for dinner.

SunshineCake · 20/01/2020 10:26

Hi all

@BustedDreams and @MrsJonesAndMe dh was away all day with dd but I kept busy and managed everything ok plus dd came home with a medal so all worth it.

I'm up a bit today but it is okay. I have enjoyed chocolates over the weekend and hopefully yesterday's two hour walk with the dog will show on the scales. Dh offered me one of his coconut chocolates at 8:50pm but I said no as it was out of my window.

Today I will have sweet corn and red pepper soup and sour dough bread, both home mad for lunch and then dinner will be chickens with rice for the rest of the family and I'll have veg with mine.

Grin at MrBustedDreams.

MotherOfLittlePeople · 20/01/2020 16:11

Just checking in...

I've started exercising more a long with slimming world and so far this month I have lost 5.5lb. Only one more weigh in this month to go 🤞🏻

Foreverlexicon · 20/01/2020 18:18

Didn’t manage a run as still felt sick from lunch which was delicious but probably about 2000 calories. Worth every mouthful and my friend has been having a tough time lately and it really cheered her up Smile but I did yoga instead and I’m soooooo relaxed.

Doubt I’m going to want my planned dinner, might just have some hummus and pita bread and veggies later but I’ll see. Feeling good despite the sugar overload and ready to start my working week tomorrow!

MrsJonesAndMe · 20/01/2020 18:19

Well done @MotherOfLittlePeople that's great!

Not eaten well today, but there we go. On episode 5 of Jason Fung and still interesting stuff being mentioned.

How are you doing now @SunshineCake?

Waffles and ping pong sounds great @Foreverlexicon Smile

MotherOfLittlePeople · 20/01/2020 20:21

Thank you @MrsJonesAndMe

SunshineCake · 20/01/2020 20:38

Well done @MotherOfLittlePeople!

Sometimes it just has to be done @Foreverlexicon.

TBH I am not sure how I'm feeling, @MrsJonesAndMe. I am a bit down about being up this morning and I stupidly weighed myself just now and it had me four pounds heavier than this morning. I am a bit worried that IF is no longer working for weight loss for me. I will carry on as the doctor on this morning today said there are health benefits beyond weight loss for eating this way.

BustedDreams · 21/01/2020 07:45

Morning you lovely lot

I stayed within cal allowance but food choices somewhat lacking (because someone visited us and they brought food) I’m hoping it won’t sabotage tomorrow’s wow 😯

@MotherOfLittlePeople that’s a great result 👍

@SunshineCake Sorry to hear you’re feeling melancholy 😔 The following I’m saying kindly, not harshly. IF might not be for you long term. Some people might feel better and fare better with regular meals over a day. I know food choices for you are limited due to allergies/intolerances etc and that makes the whole process more difficult. Sending a (hug), it’ll be ok Sunshine.

@Foreverlexicon sounds like you had a great day! Sometimes it just has to be done Grin

@MrsJonesAndMe yes I agree he talks about interesting concepts.

SunshineCake · 21/01/2020 07:52

Thanks @BustedDreams. I will keep going. I suspect the two pounds I was up this morning is the weekends chocolates and also I've just finished my period in the last two days and I also think I've not been drinking quite as much. I was out with the dog twice yesterday which was over two hours walking and I am about to go now and will probably do one and a quarter hours as I'm meeting a friend. It will be fine. I don't want to go back to three meals just yet. I will at least do a whole month of this. I'm still down from the 1st.

Have a good day everyone. It's cold and frosty here today.

Skyejuly · 21/01/2020 08:08

I'm up 2lbs this morning too...I shouldn't weigh daily! I have not cheated with calories but maybe not brilliant choices. Ah well still down overall so will stick to it. My official weigh day is Wednesday.

MinnieLatte · 21/01/2020 08:11

I wrote a lengthy post last night & then it wouldn't upload! Angry
I'm leaving home later than usual today so thought I'd take advantage & read the updates!

Thanks for all the lovely supportive messages about my 0.5lb weight loss- your all right, I need to see the bigger prize, and I also need to be pleased I had lost anything. That's what I'm loving about this thread- all the positivity Flowers

Great to read how everyone is doing.
Flowers for @Sunshine, hope you're feeling positive today. I reckon your period cant have helped! Bet next weigh in is more what you want.

I'm after some advice please, part of my determination with this is because I'm heading towards the menopause and want to be healthy. I'm suffering from some symptoms, sleep pattern is disturbed, I have the rage quite a lot!
Have any of you who have been through this got any advice on supplements or things that worked?

Have a great day everyone

Galvantula · 21/01/2020 08:15

Morning all. After being same weight for a week, I'm showing as 0.3kg down today.

Small progress but still progress :)

Super tired this morning as I woke up at 3 and then lay there like 👀 unable to fall back to sleep. 😴

MrsJonesAndMe · 21/01/2020 12:32

Hi all

I'm not weighing every day now I'm at target. Just muddling along as best I can. I have started spotting today, so that'll be the mega carb cravings yesterday explained then! Also currently stress eating all, but hoping to get out for a substantial walk tomorrow. Till then some yoga tonight will have to do.

Sounds good @SunshineCake meeting a friend always helps me feel better.

Hope you get some sleep tonight @Galvantula

No advice @MinnieLatte, hoping to avoid the meno for another decade.

Just keep at it @Skyejuly you will see the results in the long run.

@BustedDreams I'm sure you;ll do fine

Hope you have a lovely day all.

SunshineCake · 21/01/2020 13:13

@MinnieLatte I take Angus Castus each day and I really believe they help as I feel a difference when I miss just one day. I've been asking them for years and I am now peri-menopausal.

You are right, @MrsJonesandMe and I have just come back from seeing my friend. Had a lovely time. I can be antisocial at times though.

Foreverlexicon · 21/01/2020 16:30

Good day here

B - banana and cereal bar
L - Cajun sweet potato and lentil sou
S - pear
Dinner will be veggie burger with pita, hummus, salad and maybe sweet potato. Mango or yoghurt for pud.

Got home from work quite early and I’m trying to peel myself off the coach for a run!

SunshineCake · 21/01/2020 17:28

blooming auto correct. I've been taking them for years obviously..

. You'll feel better for it.

fallfallfall · 21/01/2020 18:35

I fell prey to a big bowl of....CHIPS.
Not at my home, so no further transgressions possible.
I’d like to up my cardio a bit more, and I’ve not been swimming.
forever get that run done please.

2020newme · 21/01/2020 19:16

I was on a course today and fell prey to the danish pastries x 2

In addition I haven't pooped in three days.

So I am really not looking forward to weigh in tomorrow Sad

MotherOfLittlePeople · 21/01/2020 20:37

Thanks @BustedDreams and @SunshineCake.

I've had quite a good day today plan wise. Not managed to fit any exercise in but I did do two hours of that yesterday so taking today as a rest day!

Breakfast was 2 slimming world hifi bars because I was rushing. Lunch was 2 eggs, mushrooms, onions and baked beans and tea was the slimming eats cheese burger pasta and salad

BustedDreams · 21/01/2020 20:48

Evening All

Some losses which is always motivating & inspiring to read. Well done all.

I cleaned and closed the kitchen at 18:30pm as OH returned home later than normal. Stuck to plan and within cal limits. Cheesy mushrooms on 1 slice gluten free bread and large salad for lunch. Chicken and veg for evening meal followed by 2 satsumas. @2020newme I’ve not been for 2 days myself Blush. I’m hoping for some serious bathroom action tomorrow Grin

@fallfallfall Don’t be to hard on yourself. we’re they nice Chips? I love a nice chip myself but only have a very small amount on rare occasions.

@Foreverlexicon your menus always sound delish!

I’m off for an early night (was up ridiculously early) as very tired. Night All; I’m sending good positive vibes to you all for tomorrow’s WOW 🤩.

Hello all.

I went back into work today to arrange my phased return following surgery. I was absolutely ravenous when I got back and very very nearly slipped back into old habits for lunch. Instead I cooked myself some heck chicken sausages and had them on a wholemeal thin. I'm doing SW and this was 12 additional syns, but converted into kcals it was just 364, which I find interesting. I do double check using MFP at times.

Weigh day tomorrow!

fallfallfall · 22/01/2020 02:26

DH has a 2 hr beekeeping meeting, I’m stuck at the pool and track complex :).
Stay focused everyone.

fallfallfall · 22/01/2020 05:52

laps for 30 minutes, 10,000 steps and some cardio with the skipping rope (did more than usual) and wall ball for a few minutes.

annabell22 · 22/01/2020 06:10

Morning all,

Weigh in on Wednesday for me shows 600g loss and a total of 3.7kg since 7 Dec, which is a respectable 8 pounds. I'm pleased with that.

Hope everyone else gets what they are hoping for.
