Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

That's excellent, Starbear. I'm so happy for you. I had left over chicken with steamed courgette and sliced tomatoes while my DH had sausages with much and baked beans followed by coffee with chocolate. My tummy still looks like a baloon. I hope my pregnancies didn't make me like that for ever. it's amazing how my friends have 3 or 4 kids and they are slim, no tummies to speak of. i work hard, well, in my own way and the results are modest - lost some weight which has manifested on my thinner face (my face always looks bad when I try to loose weight and my tummy still looks big even if i loose 2 or 3 kg). Do you have any tips on how to keep my face look good while I'm trying to loose some weight. I do eat healthily and I never starve myself.

fedda · 24/09/2007 21:49

Sorry, meant to say mushed potatoes, not much.

Starbear · 24/09/2007 22:13

Hi Sorry no tips as yet for the face but I'll see what I can find out. I was horrified when I saw my tummy after ds was born. I still looked 6 months pregnant without the firm feel of the baby. (I was hugh at 9 months) I always did have a tummy but now I'm fat under my boobs as well (yuk I didn't want to admit to that) All I can think of is more crunching and sit ups and leg raises. We can do it Must go now to make my packed lunch.

Thanks, Starbear. I'm off to dancing in my living room.

Starbear · 26/09/2007 21:36

Where is everyone? Hope you are all exercising soo much that you haven't got time for Mumsnet. Fedda how's it going? I've been to spinning class and a little swimming haven't got a clue what to eat now it's so late. It all seems to be working as I can get my normal jeans on now. Not those nightmare M&S jeans with elastic waist that horrified me so much that I started this thread.

fedda · 26/09/2007 21:46

Oh, Starbear, please don't say that - 'm so comfortable in mine!
Well. I bought this skipping rope which gets on my way each time i jump. Naughty rope! As for the food tonight - what have you got in your fridge - yesterday when I was hungry about this time I cooked courgette and had it with chopped tomatoes - guilt free snack! Have you got any fruit or veg? Enjoy it as if it's your best food ever. i went to Sience museum and they have mirrow which makes you fat and another which makes you slim - I was gigling with the fat one and I couldn't take my eyes off when i saw myself slim. My family had to drag me out!

Starbear · 26/09/2007 23:13

Hi, In the end I had 2 crisp bread (brown with seeds, celery, carrot sticks a little cheese a little tomato and some gualmole.
Kidrus stick with it we are her for you. Good night all sweet dreams. Fedda will try courgette tonight

Hi Starbear - I'm still here!! I weigh in on Thursdays so will let you know later how I have done this week. Feeling pretty low at the moment as ran 6 miles in aid of cancer research at weekend (biggest achievement of my life as up until three months ago I was a couch potato!!), anyway managed it and felt really good, but have just seen the photo finish. Talk about huge I don't think I realised just how big I was getting!! So I desperately need your support, I am following the thread so please keep posting, you will always hear from me on Thursdays if not before. Keep it up everyone. Off to purchase photo now, as if that isn't inspiration on the fridge then I don't know what is!

Fimbles5 · 27/09/2007 17:50

Well not quite sure how but managed to lose another 4lbs this week, so feeling a little bit better about myself now. How is everybody else getting on? Keep up the motivation. You are working wonders!

Starbear · 27/09/2007 19:16

Thank goodness you posted Fimbles5 I need as much inspiration as possible and 6 mile run is fab. Wow, it must be working as you've lost 4lbs. Apparently Joanne Hall says you should put an old photo on your fridge of when you were slim, as it's positive reinforcement. But what ever works for you. I'm working on various old jeans and trousers. I have saved them all, in every size because I thought I would go back to that weight. So I'now working on a black pair of trousers BC. After that it will be beige trousers that I wore after dating my DH for a few months. KEEP GOING WE WILL GET THERE

A bit cheesed off as DH said he was not going to the pub but staying for dinner. He has now gone to the pub. I hate work and in the process of trying to change it. Work both at home and work is stacking up and I haven't got the time to work on everything or even mentally find the right time to do it all. I sticking with the weight lose. Tonight Roasted Mediterranean Veg, small pieces of lamb and handful of rice with natural yogurt and I'll have the same for lunch.

Congratulations, Fimbles5!

Your meal sounds fantastic, Starbear. I'm afraid I had confit of duck with the skin on with green beans and mixed salad. I feel really low about myself. I hope I can do some dancing now.

Fimbles5 · 28/09/2007 08:13

Sending everyone big hugs this morning as we all seem really low!! We can all do this together, and I am sure that once the weight is gone we will all feel better about ourselves and our lives. today and think positive thoughts.

fedda · 28/09/2007 11:42

That's really kind. Thank you, Fimbles5.

Starbear · 28/09/2007 20:18

Starbear, your meals sound delish. i had grilled fish with salad (toms, red pepper, avocado, cucumber, spring onions), DH had it also with french fries, then i had tiny bit of cheese as a treat with celery and grapes and DH added water buiscuits, then he had ice-cream and coffee with chocolate while i was settling DS happily escaping from the sweet stuff. For lunch i cooked butternut squach with carrots and cabbage soup which I truly enjoyed - I added a spoon of goat's yougurt which was nice and creamy. I hope tomorrow will be better weather and we can all go out. I'm planning to dance tonight if i can manage it. Did 20 minujtes yesterday.

kidsrus · 28/09/2007 23:39

fedda that sounds lovely how do you make that. i have bns carrots and cabbage in soup would be nice and warming over the weekend

fedda · 29/09/2007 15:51

kidsrus, I shreaded cabbage, cut carrots in small pieces and pealed butternut squach and cut it un small chancks, washed it and put in a saucepan with colled water, brought to the boil and simmered for 25 minutes. Normally i add some herbs and spices but this time i was too busy reading MN so when the soup was ready i added chopped spring onions and a dalop of goat's yougurt and some freshely ground black pepper. I just loved the taste and it was such a simple soup without any salt or added chicken or veg cube, not even with potatoes or onions and i knew i could eat as much as i wanted to as it was tottally guilt free. When I came back from work i had another bowl as i was hungry.

kidsrus · 30/09/2007 16:35

that sounds good fedda do you think i could throw in some chickpeas that are cluttering my cupboard too?
I'm also thinking i could cook it in the slow cooker and freeze remainder for another day. what do you think?
feeling positive this week hope you all are too!
good luck for weigh in tomo

fedda · 30/09/2007 22:54

That all sounds absolutely perfect to me, kidsrus. i just didn't have chickpeas or I'd definately added it as I love it. you could always play with the ingredients and sometimes I add frozen peas to my soup or some canned beans, anything you fancy really. I just like the idea of having it made quickly. Actually, occasionally I get some cooked hot chicken and put it in small pieces in my soup when it's nearly ready. Can chopped tomatoes is also nice. I also sometimes add a handful of oats tomake it thicker so that I'd avoid having bread with my soup yet I'll be sutisfied with it, not hungry in half an hour.

Starbear · 01/10/2007 08:15

Good morning. 70 kgs this morning 2lbs lost another YIPEE! It's getting easier to have no carbs in the evening and I'm eating wraps and pitta bread for lunch which is okay I now have work harder and not eating biscuits, cake and sweet things. Team building day at work tommorow which will be a six mile walk then lunch in a pub. I just have to be careful in the pub. I feel very lucky because now I've started I get a lot of support at work as my supervisor lost 3 stones last year and now is a fitness freak and eats healthy food. He did a print out of his weight loss plan last week. How lucky can a girl get. I don't feel I can let him down now. How is everyone doing?

Fimbles5 · 01/10/2007 11:17

Well done starbear - keep up the good work. I will think of you today, as I am also off for a pub lunch. Trying to decide early what to have, so that when I am faced with the menu I will not be tempted with the bad stuff!! (We can live in hope!!) Anyway, thought I would try to opt for chicken, or baked potato. Not very exciting though is it?!? And what about the wine, do we have to opt for diet soft drinks instead. The things we do to look good.

fedda · 01/10/2007 16:32

Well done, starbear. i wish i had a boss like you. I'm glad no carbs after 5 works for you, I feel it works for me too. Those diet drinks are supposed to be bad, not good as they are packed with sweeteners. sometimes a small glas of wine is better, healthier, that's for sure. otherwise tomato juice, bottled water. good luck in the pabs, girls.
