Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

Count me in!!! Way back in August when we started this I had the motivation so it is there somewhere, I have just got to find it. If anything, at least we still have this thread. Summer here we come.

Fimbles5 · 02/05/2008 22:33

P.s. Next time you go to the coffee shop, I coming too!! Hazelnut coffee sounds delicious.

fedda · 03/05/2008 09:44

Don't even dream of it, Fimbles. Stay away from all the coffee shops, it's soooooo adictive. Okay, you can come. You might be stronger then me.

kidsrus · 03/05/2008 15:52

hi all glad to see you are both still here.
Don't worry fimble we all have to have someone to moan too and by the sounds of it we are all very similar slim, sexy, caring, busy, fit, mums.
you carry on it helps to release your woes somewhere.
i have found this week i have got up earlier every morning to play on wii fit between 30-60 mins, it has helped me lose 2lb this week and made me feel more alert and is improving my posture.
i think i mentioned months ago i would like to try the alexander tecnique but i feel the wii fit tecnique is working for me although some of the poses are near on impossible for me

Fimbles5 · 04/05/2008 10:20

Well done kidsrus. You sound so motivated at the moment. Keep up the good work. Tell me more about the wii fit, as I am thinking about getting one. When you do the virutal jog, are you actually jogging on the balance board???? So do you actually run the same as you would if you went out jogging, hence working as hard?? and burning as many calories?

kidsrus · 04/05/2008 23:25

id defo recommend it fimble it also keeps the kids quiet.
no you don't jog on the board you hold the remote in your hand and run at a steady pace but you can cheat like my ds does he sits on the floor just shaking the r/c pmsl
i enjoy the step and hula hoop.
haven't mastered the shoulder stand yet i can only just get my legs off the floor let alone my back and as for lowering my legs to touch the floor the other side of my head they are having a laugh!!!!!!!
the male trainer is a bit of eye candy no wonder i can't wait to get up early in the mornings

kidsrus · 05/05/2008 00:05

just going through the entire thread and found my original stats i will measure in the morn and see how different they are now!

I am: (was)
(whispered)
11.12 stone,thighs60cm,waist,100cm,chest,107cm,arms 33cm & 5ft 4

Fimbles5 · 05/05/2008 16:36

kidsrus - Very, very proud fimbles says well done you for having the confidence to post your stats. Can't wait to see how you are doing in the morning. Perhaps I will take a leaf out of your book and measure tonight.

fedda · 05/05/2008 21:51

I don't think I'm brave enough. Good luck, girls.

Fimbles5 · 06/05/2008 08:09

I wasn't brave enough either. Took one look in the mirror, with tape measure ready in hand, and thought to myself "You are having a b**y laugh!!!" Hence, tape measure went back in drawer pretty sharpish. Good Luck for this morning kidsrus. You are an inspiration.

fedda · 06/05/2008 11:12

Fimbles, let's have a plan to measure in July.

Fimbles5 · 06/05/2008 21:53

Fedda - Does this mean that you have found the courage to measure now in order to compare in July, or shall we just put it off until July in the hope the tape measure will go round us twice.

kidsrus · 06/05/2008 23:27

I am: (was)
(whispered)
11.12 stone,thighs60cm,waist,100cm,chest,107cm,arms 33cm & 5ft 4

11.10 stone,thighs 57cm,waist 97cm,chest 105cm,arms 31cm & 5ft 4

im not sure if they are truly correct i can't remember where i measured exactly last time perhaps i should use a permanant marker:0
as for the weightwell at least i maintained lol

kidsrus · 06/05/2008 23:30

my next plan of attack is going to be smaller portions as i do eat quite a bit and im looking for lots of low cal alternative snacks.

Fimbles5 · 07/05/2008 20:45

kidsrus - Well done you. I am so impressed, it goes to show that showing a loss on the scales isn't everything. I would feel fantastic if I could lose 3cm of my thighs and waist. Also, you are the only one that has been open and honest enough to measure. You should be so proud of yourself. Fedda and I will follow in July. Won't we Fedda

fedda · 07/05/2008 22:19

I was so proud of myself in the morning when I couldn't put on my skirt without the belt as it was sliding down - I thought my waist has been smaller! Well, after the whole day celebrating in the coffee shop - I went there twice and I had (you don't want to know really) my skirt is now back to normal. I don't know what's the point to mesure if I can slide down to naughty myself in one day, Fimbles. Well done, kidrus. okay, I'll mesure myself tomorrow and whisper what I am and next time in July. How about you, Fimbles? Shall we be brave?

Fimbles5 · 08/05/2008 08:29

Fedda. Please don't worry (thats what you told me ). At least when you slip I know that I am human!! We all seem to be having a troubling time at the moment, but I am sure if we all stick together we can get through this. As for measuring - I will if you will

fedda · 08/05/2008 10:56

fimbles, i tried to messure myself but I'm so hopeless. Each time it's a different figure depending how tight or not tight i do it. I decided not to do it. I think I've lost tiny bit of weight. it's funny because I've posted on another site that i've gained 2 pounds and now I think I've lost 2 pounds, may be it takes time for my body to register all the naughty overeating and I'll see I've gained it back tomorrow. My weight changes too often so I'm not sure what my weight or my messurments are. Sorry. Oh, yes, we are humans all right.

kidsrus · 09/05/2008 00:39

i have discovered that my weight is going up and down all week since i bought the wii fit
it said i had lost 1lb this morning lets hope i have lost another in the morning to have hit my target of 3lbs in 2 weeks.
walking lots at the moment as its race for life on sunday.
wish me luck as i think its going to be hot hot hot unlike last year when it was wet wet wet!!!!!!!!!!!

kidsrus · 09/05/2008 00:44

Race for life (w-s-m) last minute sponsors please

Fimbles5 · 09/05/2008 08:19

Fedda - I know how you feel, I think you are also supposed to measure on breathing out. I tend to take a deep breath in and then pull the tape measure as tight as I possibly can, simply because I cannot bear to look at the result. (Anything to look slimmer!!). I am like you in that I weigh myself 2-3 times a day. I know this shouldn't be done, but I cannot seem to stop myself. Our weight will and does fluctuate daily, so how about we both ditch the scales for a week (put them in the shed, garage or somewhere out of the way), and promise to only weigh in once a week. I know this is hard, and I will try to practice what I preach, and report hopefully a loss next week. (Still living in hope!!)
Kidsrus - Good luck with the race for life on Sunday

fedda · 09/05/2008 17:50

Fimbles, the best I can do and I have done is to weight myself once a day. I do it several times in the morning just to make sure I get some sort of accurate reading as the reading varies but I found myself running from my scales when my weight was lower then I thought, I didn't want to check it as it possibly would change not in my favour. If I put my scales in the shed I'll simply open my shed evey morning, it's that bad Anyway, I was snacking on blueberries - luckily I bought 2 boxed because I've polished one off before my kids came back from school. Yes, all the box for myself, how bad is that?

kidsrus · 15/05/2008 10:23

hi there have you been able to avoid those scales?
i try not to weigh after breakfast because i know that my weight goes up during the day and i want to be lighter not heavier
i completed the race in an hour and it was hot hot hot with a lovely wind we had a fab time and raised lots of money for a good cause. i always find it very emotional reading peoples backs and seeing how many have lost close relatives and friends to cancer.
lost 2lb this week.
how are you all & hows the water intake?

fedda · 18/05/2008 21:53

Hi, Kidrus. I avoided scales today but otherwise I jump on mine every day. Water - yes, with my dinner meal and when I feel firsty. i had lots of cups of tea and a lot of vegies although I'm not vegitarian. Anyway, Summer is not long now and if the weather is nice I'll do plenty of walking. No running, it's not my thing I'm afraid. How is everyone? It's soooooo lonely without you, girls!

kidsrus · 19/05/2008 19:21

i am sorry would love to chat like i used to but dd now crashes on school run and is awake till 12 and then only goes to bed with me!
hopefully it wont be for long they all go through these phases and she will be taking herself to bed when she is tired
summer is here and we are busy in the garden decking it also blitzing the house and decluttering so im feeling fab.
how are you?
