Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

Oh Fedda - I've only just read your wonderful post, and I'm afraid its too late for today. I have eaten badly again and am stuffing biscuits as I am typing. What is wrong with me. The worst thing about it all is I am good all day, until I come in from the school run, then I eat so much whilst preparing tea. It doesn't make any sense, but would you believe me if I said I can't seem to stop. Anyway, I will try to start tomorrow full of hopes, and will hang on to the hope I will look better for the Summer. Thankyou for your kindness.

fedda · 11/04/2008 17:31

Fimbles, thank you so much for your beautiful post. Of course I believe you. I have it so often myself and I'm afraid it makes perfect sence as after the school run you need some energy replacement. I hope tomorrow will be a good day for you. Unfortunately for me weekends aren't so I live my so called sensible eating (wishful thinking) to the week days. Anyway, good luck and I'll be thinking of you if that helps. Biscuits is my downfall as well, Fimbles.

kidsrus · 12/04/2008 00:22

hi all sorry i haven't been around for you both but i am still here!
reading your posts im the same don't drink enough but eat lots.
do you think we should try drinking instead of eating?
perhaps the thirsty message from the brain is getting us confused with the hungry message!

i have lost a little weight this week not through trying but a stomach bug!!!!!!!!

feeling better now and eating for england again.

i wont be around till next sunday but will fill you in on whats been happening then.

all the best keep your chins up and lets all drink more liquid for the week and see if it works!

fedda · 12/04/2008 12:29

good to hear from you, kidrus. Congratilations on loosing some weight. yes, drinking instead of eating (I assume you mean drinking water?) is something to think of.

Fimbles5 · 13/04/2008 10:45

kidsrus - Well done on the weight loss, but sorry to hear you have been unwell. Hope you are feeling better now.

Fimbles5 · 15/04/2008 21:20

Hi - How is everyone getting on this week?? I have had a better couple of days, not great but better than the binge eating that I had relapsed to, so hopefully my willpower is making a return (I can but hope).

fedda · 15/04/2008 22:22

That's great, Fimbles. I had a bog slip today - went out with my kids and they fancied Subway - the place where you can get bread filled with whatever fillings you like. I simply couldn't resist so I had half sub with ham, cheese, sweetcorn, tomato and cucumber and later on at home - chinese chicken, chicken Kiev, chips and baked beans followed by lot's of cups of tea with sugar and some biscuits. Before today I thought I felt lighter but not any more!

fedda · 15/04/2008 22:23

Not a bog slip - a big slip.

Fimbles5 · 16/04/2008 07:13

Fedda - I know it is of no comfort to you, but at least I know I am not alone. I think it was you that said not long ago we are all human. I hope you enjoyed the food and savoured every bit, now its time to start again today. Not that I am one to advise with my eating habits over the last few weeks, but try not to beat yourself up about it. As you said it is only a bog slip!!

Fimbles5 · 21/04/2008 20:39

Hi kidsrus - You obviously had a great week, its good to have you back. As you can see from my posts things aren't great here. Finding it really difficult to stay motivated and think healthy. I thought I had a really good week last week only to find I had put on another 2lbs. Trying to stay positive and starting each day with positive healthy thoughts. Good luck with the wii. Let me know if it helps. I would love to here some positive success stories as we seem to be lacking them on this thread at present. Oh well, tomorrow is a new day!

fedda · 25/04/2008 17:12

How are you. girls? I'm still trying to be good when I can and I'm not giving up.

kidsrus · 25/04/2008 22:11

i think we are all feeling the same fimble.
did you watch the documentary about weight loss with Natalie ? (sonia Jackson from eastenders)?
she said all the fady diets make you fatter and the way she lost weight was by eating healthy and cutting out crap snacks.
well i bought thw wii fit today and it told me im a overweight 48 yo Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee im only 37 and 3 quarters.
it measured my bmi and weight so heres hoping i have told it i want to lose 3lb in 2 weeks so heres hoping.
Im looking for snacks that are lower in points too that we can eat and not feel guilty the sains bgty chinese rice crackers are nice.
have you found anything we can snack on?

fedda · 26/04/2008 00:10

I was snacking on blueberries, raspberries and red grapes and I also have some Rivita to keep me going. i can't live without snacks so I'm snacking on any fruit/veg/berries I have at hand.I'm very happy for suggestions though.

kidsrus · 29/04/2008 21:02

kidsrus · 29/04/2008 21:04

fedda are you timing yourself between each fruit/veg?

fedda · 29/04/2008 23:43

Kidrus, no way. I eat them quicker then people can wink Well, it's guilt free food as far as I'm concerned (she says eating a whole palm of raspberries in one go).

Fimbles5 · 30/04/2008 08:23

Well done kidsrus - are the wii fits really that good? If so, then I am off to buy one. No update here I am afraid, still struggling hence I haven't posted for a while, as I feel you are all probably fed up with my whingeing by now. But I am still following the post with interest and impressed with your efforts. Will let you know if I ever have any good news
P.s so glad that you are keeping the thread going as it is my favourite and the support is fantastic from you guys. What would I do without you?

fedda · 30/04/2008 18:11

Fimbles, please don#t worry if you feel like complaining. I think we all do from time to time. I'm here if you feel like sharing how you feel. {smile]

fedda · 30/04/2008 18:12

Oh, here it is:

Fimbles5 · 01/05/2008 08:19

Fedda thankyou - problem is I feel that I am complaining to you all the time at the moment. I feel really stressed and just cannot get motivated, then I pile on the pounds and feel even more miserable. It is such a vicious circle. I know as Mums' we all lead busy lives, and I wouldn't change it for the world, but everything seems such a rush all the time. You would think that I wouldn't have time to eat, but I still manage to stuff it all in!!! I feel so selfish, as I come on here and moan about me, me, me and I am not normally like that, I am the sort of person that always puts others first. Sorry! How are you??

fedda · 01/05/2008 22:32

Fimbles, I'm so glad to hear from you. I honestly thought I said somethig which upset you. I'm very happy to talk to you and I don't at all feel that you're selfish. Selfish people actually never worry that they are selfish, it just doesn't cross their mind. People like you who put others first are so often full of guilt and worry that they are not doing the right thing but it's because they care so much. I often eat more then I should. Mother's life is stressful and we need some comfort whether it is food or getting out to shops or chatting to our friends. We do need it so please don't worry. The guilt you feel that you eat too much makes you eat more so you are right it's a vicious circle. Try as much as you can to stay positive and to take another approach: may be rather then thinking how much you were eating think what wonderful things you can have tomorrow - have a school run, go to your local shop and stock for some berries, fruit, anything good which wouldn't make you feel guilty. I had shop bought soup today and it was lovely - winter vegetable soup with lot's of vegies and I also had some hot and spicy ready cooked hot chicken legs - easy peasy. For dinner I had beef steak with baked beans, some oven baked chips and fried egg - I can't say it was a marvellous choice but it was wonderfully tasty. I had a small piece of chocolate with my tea with 1 sugar. I haven't lost any weight for ages and it goes up sometimes but then it goes slightly down so I'm feeling I'm maintaining it although I do have bad days when I eat biscuits (it has to be at least 4 or I'm not happy so you see, I can overdo it easily). Please, Fimbles, don't worry yourself and post whanever you feel like. I'm here when you'd like to talk. You don't need to entertain me with happy messages, just write how you feel and if I can help in any way, I will.

Fimbles5 · 02/05/2008 07:33

Fedda - Bless you, how could you possibly offend anyone. You are fantastic inspiration and above all a really good listener. It is so good to have you here. I start every day really positive, and up until tea time don't really eat anything too bad. It is around 4pm I start to eat when the kids get in from school (not that they are to blame), but then I eat right through until evening
What really annoys me the most is that the week before Easter I had got to the 2 stone lost mark, but now I am piling it all back on, and nothing seems to stop me. There is no way I want to go back to the way I was, but help!! it is so hard. I am so hoping that all of a sudden something will click and I can get back on track. In the meantime, I appreciate your kindness, and thankyou so much for being there for me.

fedda · 02/05/2008 22:27

Fimbles, I'm very happy to help in any way I can. I know what you mean about 4 o'clock. I took my kids to the coffee shop and I had honey nuts with hazelnut coffee with some chocolate powder and vanilla powder on top. Before that I was really good having blueberries and raspberries for my snacks and I had sea bass with potatoes and vegies for dinner but from time to time I need some treats although I can tell anyone what to have instead of food - hair done, getting new outfit, massage, facials, I can go on and on yet I go for food myself. So you see how I am. And I find myself giggling after the coffee shop - all this sugar rush makes me really happy. Anyway, let's try together. I know what to advice, you know what to advice, we can advice each other and try to follow each other's advice. We have Summer to aim for. Let's try to loose a bit of weight. If we loose too much we'll end up gaining so let's try to take it easy, slowly but surely. Would do you think, Fimbles? And thank you very much for your kind words.
