Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

Hi, DforDiva, sounds like you had a fantastic day . I'd love your recipy of chicken with lemon and garlic, please

DforDiva · 20/02/2008 10:00

Hi fedda,
Its very easy one. I often use chicken breast fillets
use one medium lemon and small garlic clob per chicken
chop chicken into strips, boil in water. add sliced lemon and garlic, spring onions. ( can add baby corns or sweet corns or spinach last minute)
sweeten with a pinch of sugar, it takes the zingy taste off
thats it. serve it with boiled or steamed rice.
Im about to nip gym, its freezing outside drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

fedda · 20/02/2008 11:07

Thank you, Dfor Diva. Good luck with the gym

i started the day badly having coffee morning with a friend with coffee with 2 sugars and 3 fudge sweets. At 10 I had 4 fish fingers, 4 small slivers of cheedder and tea with 1 sugar and nuts. I'll make carrot and coriander soup for lunch and for dinner - sausages with red lentils, mush pots followed by coffee with 2 sugars and more nuts.

fedda · 20/02/2008 19:51

So, here is my day: I started a day with 2 sugared coffee and 3 tofee sweets. I had 4 fish fingers, some pieces of cheese and tea with 1 sugar later, for lunch I ended up munching on my home made pizza made from scratch and only admired by DS1, not DS2 so I can say it was DS2 fault with home made veg soup, tea with 1 sugar and nuts (not in my tea ; for dinner I had more soup and 3 sasages with mush pots and lentils. I forgot I also had 2 sugared coffee again with little cheese and I'm most probably going to have more coffee, poss with nuts at around 10 (my time when all normal people are in bed .

DforDiva · 20/02/2008 20:39

fedda · 20/02/2008 21:23

Hi, Dfor Diva, i think everybody is busy with the kids as most schools have half term this week. My DS1 is 10 and my DS2 is 4 and they are a handfull of course. I like the writing on the bib i saw in shops one day: 'Before you ask, I'm a boy' so you can see what it is like when ther are two boys. They are really lovely and they make me smile a lot but they can be challenging sometimes. i think it's normal for kids. Anyway, I#ve been overeating today and many days since I've stopped my no carbs after 6 pm. I think I still have post diet effect . i made my soup though but i'm the only one eating it so you can imagine - I feel like a baloon. i stil want some coffee. isn't it awful? And yesterday while I had my tummy ache i was craving for ice cream which was calling me from my freeza. I had to be sooooooo strong and resist it and i did . Mind you, it's still in my freeza

kidsrus · 20/02/2008 23:30

hi all im still here but dc are still awake @ 10 most nights this week. mind you we haven't been eating before 7.30pm this week.
I'm enjoying the lie ins but hoping no one knocks on the door before 11am.
doing well with the healthy eating most days starting with weetabix, then salad, scampi and oven chips last night and pork medallions with veg tonight.
but picked with the kids cakes, choc, biscuits.
having to be more active out and about to make up for it all.
diva your lemon chicken sounds lush might make it tomo do you use organic chicken like hugh fernley suggests?

fedda · 20/02/2008 23:56

Hi, kidrus, nice to hear all is well
May i ask please what is dc?

kidsrus · 20/02/2008 23:59

fedda · 21/02/2008 09:44

Thank you, kidrus.

Fimbles5 · 21/02/2008 19:18

I'm still here too. You don't lose me that easily. Just got back from weekly weigh in and in need of support. I put on 3lbs this week and am very and

fedda · 21/02/2008 19:30

Poor fimbles. Better luck next week

Fimbles5 · 21/02/2008 21:18

Thanks Fedda - How are you getting on?? Do you think we will ever get to where we would like to be?? I suppose the good thing is that I feel healthier even if I don't look thinner. That has got to be good hasn't it? Just not talking to hubby at the moment - he bought me those chocolates for Valentines, he should have know better - they were tasty though and I enjoyed every last one

fedda · 21/02/2008 21:42

Hi again, fimbles. i think we'll get there and you're right, we eat healthier then before even though we get some treats. I think it's important to have some chocolate and bicuits as they help us feel not deprived and we don't wnat to get too upset and sad for our family sake. Anyway, i still eat more then I should but I had a good day.
B- poridge with semi, honey and grapes
L- cheese and grapes sandwich (on white bread I'm afraid with thin butter)with tea with 1 sugar
Coffee with 2 sugars and muesli and granola cereal dry to munch on something
D - 2 small lamb chops but with the fat and 3 pieces of roast pots with ketchup followed by grapes. So, not really strict but not a crap diet either, somewhere in the middle, i think

fedda · 22/02/2008 21:37

Hi, how are you all doing? i took kids out today to the library and shops, so there was some walking and i avoided a coffee shop (not easy especcially when DS2 loves it a lot, just like his mummy does. Anyway,
B+L - sheese and grapes toasty made with white bread and a scraping of butter, tea with 1 sugar
4pm - BBQ chicken wings from hot counter in Sainsburrys, cherries and grapes
D - DH home made fish cakes with home made french fries, asparagus, a tiny piece of cheese with grapes, 1/2 an apple, almonds flakes and cashu nuts, tea with 1 sugar and more nuts
I'm going to have a cup of coffee with 2 sugars later.

mrsmalaprop · 23/02/2008 11:19

Hi all - sorry I haven't been about for a little while. This week has been completely horrendous.

My teaching practice is going very, very badly. I had a hideous observation on Wednesday when I was, very unfairly, completely taken apart. I have had my confidence knocked so much that I'm finding standing in front of a class terrifying and you can't teach when you have no confidence in what you're saying.

Plus I've been up until midnight and up before 5 everyday just getting the planning done.

The upshot of all this is that I haven't done any exercise and have hardly eaten a thing all week. I feel so sick that I can hardly force any food down at all and when I do I get stomach cramps. Not good. At least I seem to have broekn the habit of eating buckets of food when stressed!

How is everyone else?

fedda · 23/02/2008 16:02

Hi,mrsmalaprop. Sorry for your teaching experience. I hope you'll get your confidence back.
I'm trying to avoid dangerous things to eat - my danger zone is biscuits, chocolates and cakes as I can live without crisps, no probs. Anyway, I overeat often and although I tend to have good quality home made food I weigh more then I'd like.
B - poridge with honey and grapes made with semi-skimmed milk
l - eating out - warm bread sticks with dips; pan fired fillet of dori with herby mash and peas; banana pieces from kids' desert.
Will have some snack later and I'm going to have a cup of tea with 1 sugar now, feel I could do with it now.

DforDiva · 24/02/2008 19:00

hi everyone, glad to see all still around.
kidsrus, i buy my meat from loval butcher, i dont know could be just us dh and i think its tastes nicer.
i have been good untill today, had loads of chocolate shortcake and chunky kitkat
well, it can t be that bad, i believe eating chocolate occasionally wont do any harm
[who says that]
fumbles, dont feel down, you might as well loose more next week.
good luck everyone

fedda · 24/02/2008 21:39

Hi, everyone. Today: B - poridge with semi, honey and prunes
L - 2 small grilled sausages, mushrooms and 2 poched eggs with tea with milk, no sugar and 1 toast with little butter on.
D - roast pork with roast pots, half of yourkshire pud, steamed carrots, little gauda chese with crackers and half a pear, tea with 1 sugar and more crackers
Will have another tea with 1 sugar and pomegranat, possibly some crackers.

Fimbles5 · 25/02/2008 08:05

Morning everyone - Well another new week and another new start!! Thanks DforDiva for your kind words, I do plan to try harder this week, I desperately need to find some time for exercise. I now feel that I am eating healthier although I have the odd slip up (odd usually quite frequently), but I am still not exercising as much as I should. What with work, family and studying I don't seem to find the time - but this week my mission is to find at least 2hrs over 2 evenings to workout. Had quite a good weekend foodwise so hopefully by Thursday I may have lost some of what I gained last week. How about everybody else - any success stories to keep us motivated this week?

fedda · 25/02/2008 13:05

Hi, fimbles. It's nice to hear from you. I'm okya, went to the coffee shop today to have a cup of coffee (late) with 2 sugars and little powdered chocolate on top with a nut bar. Now I had some cherries and I'm cooking carrot and coriander soup. Only walk for excersise. I'm going to restart my dance to my favourite pop songs to keep moving.
