Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

so did i fedda couldn't do much else.it was pouring with rain and we trudged along the beach through the puddles looking like drowned rats.
we had to strip before we could get back in the car.
but it was a good day with a great atmosphere and we sang singing in the rain around the course.

fedda · 13/02/2008 23:43

Well done, kidrus

mrsmalaprop · 14/02/2008 09:22

Good for you doing race for life. I, like Fedda, really don't do running. I've decided I'm not built for it (weak knees)and really admire people who do, so well done, kidsrus!

I did my weekly weigh in this morning and am half a stone lighter than 3 weeks ago. Hooray! I think I'm getting there!

...that is until next week when the stress of full time teaching begins and I'm too tired to exercise and don't have enough time to eat properly (takeaways...etc - dh won't cook). I hope that, with your help, I will stay on track. Prepare for some whingeing!

Fimbles5 · 14/02/2008 09:40

Well done MrsM on the weightloss so far, Keep up the good work, and Well done Kidsrus on the race for life. I am thinking of doing it also, last summer I couldn't run from here to there without getting breathless, but some friends encouraged me to start running and although it didn't really help with the weightloss in September I did a 10k run for Cancer Research. Unfortunately due to the darker evenings, I have let the running slip, so once again am unfit!! But, I do plan to start again as soon as it is light in the evenings to be able to go out. Good Luck kidsrus - You are a star!!

Fimbles5 · 17/02/2008 09:24

It was lovely. Hubby was so impressed. I made loads so I have some left for lunch today. It had so much more flavour than a canned soup. Feeling very proud of myself, and will definately be trying some more. And it was so easy - like you said it would be.

fedda · 17/02/2008 12:53

Lovely to hear about your success, fimbles. May i ask for your recipy, plrase?

Fimbles5 · 17/02/2008 20:15

Fedda - Of course you can have recipe. I fryed 1 rasher of chopped bacon in pan until soft and then added 1 onion, 1 carrot, 1 celery stalk (chopped) and cooked for 5 mins. Stir in 1tbsp of plain flour and then add 550g canned tomatoes, 3/4pt chicken stock (I made mine with water and stock cube), 1tbsp tomato puree, salt & pepper, 1/2tsp sugar, 1/2tsp basil and 1 bay leaf. Bring to the boil and simmer for 45mins. Remove bay leaf and puree if required and then return to saucepan to heat and serve. It was absolutely divine!! However, been out this evening and had roast dinner, apple crumble and custard and chocolates

Fimbles5 · 17/02/2008 20:15

Oops, I should have said chicken stock. Sorry, apparently this makes all the difference.

Fimbles5 · 17/02/2008 20:16

Oh, I am going mad .... I did say chicken stock

fedda · 17/02/2008 20:40

Thank you very much, fimbles for the recipy and for a lovely warm post. Your soup sounds absolutely divine. I must try it.
