Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

Hi Fedda - B/Bagel with butter, L/Tuna & Cucumber roll & bag of crisps, D/Will be toad in the hole for family, but unfortunately 1 toad for me on its own with lots and lots of veg Believe it or not after yesterday even with the crisps for lunch today has been a good day!! So far.

fedda · 12/02/2008 16:40

Hi, fimbles. I'm happy for you. I'm trying to be good as well.

Fimbles5 · 12/02/2008 19:37

Oh Fedda Bless you!! - Please advise me how to stop eating. Once again I am spiralling out of control. Why can I do so well for a short period of time and then it all goes downhill and I binge big time. Am I alone as I am beginning to think I have a major problem. Since teatime (when I filled up on veg) I have eaten 1 x small cake, numerous rich tea biscuits, a chocolate penguin biscuit and 4 roses chocolates and still going. None of these do I need as I am not hungry but still I am saying what can I eat next. HELP!!!

kidsrus · 12/02/2008 20:48

fimbles snap!
i usually do that today i have had
frosties
tuna mayo &salad
choc coin,4 pink wafers, pear,a few crisps
veg soup (broccoili stalk,celery,carrots,parsnip,cabbage,swede,peas,veg oxo,worcester sauce)bloody delish
now eating melon with pop corn to follow and maybe more pink wafers.
been drinking fruit tea and squash again today also 1 glass of water.

fimbles drink orange juice with meals(helps iron absorb) and eat lots of greens full of iron)
mrs m dd is 2 and ds is 6
good day today as the weather was fab again.

Fimbles5 · 12/02/2008 21:07

Thanks kidsrus - Its good to know I am not the only one, although apart from the choc coin you still seem to be eating healthily. Well done you!! Feeling a little better now as hubby persuaded me to go on treadmill as fed up with what I had eaten, so have just run 4 miles and am now off to have a shower. Hopefully after shower, if I go straight to bed I won't eat any more today. Tomorrow I start a fresh - again

kidsrus · 12/02/2008 22:01

thanks fimbles do you think so, the wafers are 1 pt each the popcorn is 2pts and the frosties would be better if they were porridge. i feel i eat too much although i try to eat fruit and veg instead of sweet things.
i resisted the choc left from xmas and im planning to bring one of the tins out at easter.
dh gave me a pack of thorntons on sun for our anni and i made light work of those (glad there was only 9 in the pack!)
hopefully i get flowers on thurs and not chocs!
what does you dh/dp get you?

fedda · 12/02/2008 22:02

Fimbles, sorry I've only seen your messages now. Your running will put it all right for you and tomorrow IS another day so you'll be doing well again. I'm afraid I'm so similar to you and i can try to stop you, yet i can't stop myself. In a way it's easier for me NOT to have biscuits then to have just one, not to have my fav chockies and not to have ice-cream as once I start there is NO stopping me and all my good intentions and good quatations like slimming tastes better then chocolate go to the window and i just scoff everything like there is no tomorrow. i know at a time that's it's wrong but I lul myself and i don't need to say what i do, i just eat, eat and eat. And the next day i get up and think: 'What can i eat?' so in a way the more i eat the more I want the next day. It's NO GOOD. Let's try to help each other.

I liked this article: www.rd.com/healthy-living/weight-loss/easy-ways-to-lose-weight-50-ideas/article.html

DforDiva · 12/02/2008 22:25

hi everyone,
can i join you here? 500+post so i didnt go thru all, but i promise will check regularly from now on.
i had my ds late august, and started gym after 3m. i have been doing gym for 3m now, and lost about 2stone since had ds.i put whooping 5 stone for the last 3 years since had dd. i go gym 4 times a week for 1hour to 1.30
i mainly use stepper 20min, threadmill 20min, cross trainer 20min and weights.
i try not to cut my meal, as i think we eat fairly healthy. i rink loads of water sometimes 5-6litres.
i quite pleased about the weight i lost, as it was xmas and new year, i still had full dinner, chocolates and etc...
every morning i cry because of my lack of sleep. i feel guilty if dont go gym, to go out of home is the hardest bit. once im out in the gym, i work hard. i feel better and lighter when i leave gym.
i got to loose at least 2.5stone.
i know i can do it, but its such a hard work, isnt it?

fedda · 12/02/2008 22:30

Warm welcome,DforDiva. I love this thread. Everyone is so helpful, inspiring and genuine.

DforDiva · 12/02/2008 22:38

thanks fedda, im trying to keep up.
im not diet person, i dont think it will work for me, i only believe i need good toning up, and get back into shape.
while i sit here my arms ache of doing too much weights. i ended up with wings under my arms, so i try to get rid of it

fedda · 12/02/2008 22:51

So, you are not a diet person, you are a flying person with wings. Welcome again. I have to say, i don't have any wings as I'm too lazy to excersise. I don't diet either. I just try to have healthy meals and snacks and i walk and do some little house work. I'm not strong so I slip into havy snacking moods and I really appreciate all the support and inspiration i get on MN. I'm there for you if i can be of any help.

Fimbles5 · 13/02/2008 08:49

Welcome DforDiva - Its so nice to have some new people joining our ongoing thread. Good Luck and I hope I can be of some help. The good thing about this thread that I have found is everybody is here to listen, so if you are having a bad time as I am at present, someone will be there for you. Thanks Fedda and kidsrus once again for sharing my experiences, offering sympathy and of course lots of advice. Hopefully, next week I can get back on track and report a loss.

fedda · 13/02/2008 10:53

Help!!!!!!!! Today - celery stick before taking kids to school; muesli mixed with granola cereal. semi. coffee with 2 sugars and a piece of fudge

Fimbles5 · 13/02/2008 12:44

Welcome Fedda to my club - The celery stick was good (Well Done). I think we are all having a tough time at the moment. Hopefully, the new bods to this thread will help us with advice and inspiration. If it is any consolation I have just been shopping for a valentines meal I intend to cook on Saturday. My shopping basket has lots of double cream, natural yoghurt and chocolate. Doesn't look good does it? Least we are still thinking healthy thoughts aren't we??

fedda · 13/02/2008 16:15

Yes, we mean well, that's for sure. Lunch - shop bought veg soup with added lamb from yesterday stew. Dinner will be chicken, not sure of vegies. I'm off to have coffee with 2 sugars.

mrsmalaprop · 13/02/2008 16:26

Hello all.

Just taking a break from essay tedium to say hello and hope you're all feeling good today.

Hello DforDiva. I only joined this thread a few days ago and everyone has been lovely. Well done for getting as far as you have already. It sounds as though you are well on track.

Hi Fedda. You deserve the sugary coffee. It's only a small thing and the rest of the day seems to be going well.

I am feeling guilty today. The eating has been fine - quorn sausage, Tomatoes and mushrooms for B, Chicken salad for lunch and stirfry planned for dinner, but I didn't manage to go to the gym today despite planning to. I am so bogged down with the work I have to do that I feel guity if I leave my books for 5 minutes. I just feel rubbish on the days I don't get any exercise. I may pull myself together and go in a bit regardless. I know I will feel better if I do.

Enough complaining. How are you today?
