Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

Breakfast - half a bowl of poridge with honey. Lunch - starter - left over smocked salmon with a few pieces of red pepper. Beetroot, broccoli, carrots, garlic, red pepper and coriander soup. I might have more soon. It was good.

Fimbles5 · 10/12/2007 12:52

Fedda - It sounds lovely. Beats my ham and cucumber sandwich!! I can't believe what I have just done - for the first time in my life I have bought a halter neck top. What on earth possessed me to waste my money. I needed something for Christmas party and thought I would try it, the lady in the shop made me feel so fab with the compliments and for a split second I felt it. So I parted with my money, but now I am home looking in my mirror minus the compliments thinking to myself what on earth was I thinking?? I may have lost weight, but I still have those chunky arms!! I have no confidence to wear it at all, so will be taking it back tomorrow. Has anyone else bought a Christmas outfit yet??

fedda · 10/12/2007 13:28

Have a good think about it, fimbles and if you are sure it's not for you, please only then give it back tomorrow. You might decide though that you like it and then it could be your treat for all the hard work you are doing. No outfits here yet but I'm almost done for the presents for others (typical me).

kidsrusanta · 13/12/2007 00:26

you could get a stole or pashmina to drape over your arms to make you feel more confident.
they do say try something different to normal.
i normally wear trousers and t shirts until i tried a skirt and top and now love skirts and own 3 (i didn't own a skirt for 15yrs or more).
it does work in boosting your confidence.
My soup today was delious, i made it with swede, parsnip, carrot, celeriac, peas, sweetcorn, garlic, veg and chicken oxo with some worstershire sauce also pasta twists. have you ever tried celeriac it really sweetens the soup.

Hi, I'm soooo god at giving advice . Well, today DH brought me a huge box of chocolates from Marks and Spencer - those swiss once I think. Well, there ios chocolate and there is chocolate and it was the one. No, actually there were 3 in my mouth! Oh, dear! All my hard wotk goes as soon as i see chocolate with nuts.
Breakfast, DH at work, I'm good - poridge
Lunch - left over of mince (rather big one) with tomatoes and red pepper, tea with grapes and unsalted nuts.
Straight from school in the afternoon - those chockies with a cup of coffee with 2 sugars!
Dinner - omelete with onion and mushroomes and salad with tomato, yellow pepper, salad leaves, grapes and lime juice. Tiny bit of chedder. Coffee with 2 sugars and unsalted nuts.
I'm going to have 1 kiwi now.
I don't know if I want to weigh myself tomorrow. I probably will but I'm not looking forward to it.

Fimbles5 · 14/12/2007 10:50

Things not good here either!! Just started new job at school, and the staffroom is overflowing with chocolate and cakes everyday. Where is my willpower!?! Somebody please, send me some

Fimbles5 · 14/12/2007 11:46

Fedda - Noticed you posting a lot on another thread. Please come back to this one, I need you!!!! We are doing this together. You and the team are my weightloss/gain buddies. Please don't desert me.

fedda · 14/12/2007 14:29

Oh, fimbles, I thought I was posting a lot here. n fact I'm not sure if I post too much making some people fedda up with all my ideas. Anyway, of course I'm here and I'm with you. Thank you for your beautiful posting. It made my day. i have to say my will power has gone somewhere else and I don't know how to bring it back to me. Breakfast - poridge with honey and grapes. 10 o'clock - Starbaks coffee late with chocolate on the top and a nut bar (was soo tasty). Lunch - sae bass with salad, tomato juice and coffee late with 1 sugar and a tiny piece of bread and butter. Dinner will be rainbow trout with tosted almonds and salad, no doubt another cuppa.

Fimbles5 · 14/12/2007 15:35

Fedda - You can never post too many ideas. Your ideas are my inspiration, I have started having a go at soup making, and I even tried porridge (disaster - still didn't like it!!), but I tried. Weight loss not good, but the thought is there. How do we regain our willpower. Christmas dinner this evening, with wine and Christmas pud. Oops!!

fedda · 14/12/2007 20:16

Hi again, fimbles. It's just an idea but how about adding wome raw veg salad to your meals? That' what i was doing today and it feels good. Anyway, we can only do so much when it's a festive season so may be after the season we'll suddenly discover our willpowers?

fedda · 14/12/2007 20:41

fimbles, sorry for all my mistakes in my threads. Anyway, it's not that important but something important i forgot to say: you are my inspiration as well. Thank you so much for all your posts. They help a great deal to me.

kidsrusanta · 15/12/2007 22:14

do you know if this thread wasn't here i would have gone off the rails ages ago!
its inspiring to see others trying hard along with me.
im going to try to maintain my weight over christmas and then diet hard and exercise in the new year.
are you all with me?
well done fimbles for trying porridge, i tried blueberries this week thanks to fedda telling me how good they were.kids tried them too!

fedda · 15/12/2007 23:26

hi, kidrus. It's so nice to read your postings. Yes, I'm with you. I'm so glad you tried bluberries. I absolutely love them. I suppose I'm lucy in some ways considering many people say they don't like fruit or berries. I think I love all berries and most of fruit and i don't believe I must watch how much fruit I eat. It's enough for me to watch all the other stuff. Anyway, I like your idea of maintaining weight now and dieting after Christmas. I promise i'll do my best but my dieting is eating healthy food and walking. Am I qualified?

kidsrusanta · 16/12/2007 00:47

healthy food and walking sounds good to me!
i should also make a pact not to sit on here too late as it is making me too tired and grumpy next day.
thought i might rope a few friends into bowling once a week in the new year to try and get some exercise and a life.
(feeling a bit down due to lack of sleep)

Fimbles5 · 16/12/2007 09:15

I can't even seem to maintain at the moment. I will join you however!! (and try my best). I always assumed that in order to maintain you do increase your calorie intake a little, so to stop the weightloss. But there is no happy line for me. At the moment I lose a pound only to put two pounds on the following week. I will be here though for the big weigh in for the new year. Shall we say a stone by easter?!? We can but hope. Good Luck everyone.

fedda · 16/12/2007 12:51

Hi, girls. i put on almost 1 kg more so in total I put on 2 kg! And I haven't even started on the minced pies yet! Come on, fedda, you must stay positive! Oh, yes, if I haven't ;ost weight I'd be even havier!

kidsrusanta · 16/12/2007 23:17

Oh dear girls we are all finding it hard.
i would like to aim to lose 5lb to be 11 stone @ first then i will try to lose 7lb after.
I do feel it would be unrealistic to try to lose weight this close to christmas as we all have parties to go to and meals to attend, and after all we have got a life!

We can however limit ourselves to one mince pie and 1 small piece of chocolate a day with no biscuits or crisps.

Eat lots of veg with smaller portions of protein.

Eat plenty of fruit.

Avoid bread and starchy products.

Drink more water and less alcohol.

And i might try eating a bit more fish!

After all we are not dieting we are healthy eating.

kidsrusanta · 16/12/2007 23:18

healthy eating

kidsrusanta · 16/12/2007 23:20

why does that not work for me
dieting

kidsrusanta · 16/12/2007 23:21

omg thats just typical is this site trying to tell me something!
healthyeating HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

fedda · 16/12/2007 23:23

1 chocolate a day? Okay, how big is the chocolate? I have those chockies in a box - you know Assortment type. My very minimum of those - three! Oh, dear! I'll try water, fish, healthy eating, no buiscuits, may be even no minced pies (I can leave without those), no crisps, no bread, no pasta but I'll need potatoes though. Is my plan okay with you or am I really noughty?

kidsrusanta · 16/12/2007 23:36

some how i knew someone would querrie the choc thats why i put 1 small piece instead of 1 chunck!
Hopefully they're dark chocs and 3 is better than the whole packet.

I leave one tin out and hide the rest,I then get them out one by one during spring, they keep us going to easter!

My problem will be the xmas cake, its full of fruit and nuts though and i hate the icing and marzipan so hopefully just one small piece a day shouldn't be too bad.

we have to have will power.
I also like pots so wont ditch those but i know some of you are avoiding them.

I try to avoid bread and products with yeast as i have an interolance to it. (not always easy as i like pizza sometimes)

Anyway your not being naughty just human.

fedda · 16/12/2007 23:43

kidrus, sweetheart, thank you. i'm afraid my human nature doesn't like dark chocolate, it likes this milk chocolate with nuts, preferably whole nuts. I'm totally indiferent to Christmas cake and pudding as to me it's too much of good stuff if you know what I mean. I love every ingredient in it but put together I find it far too rich and after turkey impossible to digest. My weak points are chickies, ice cream, fudge, jam, honey, peanut cookies, almond cookies - should I carry on? It's awful, isn't it? Yes, my human nature!

kidsrusanta · 16/12/2007 23:56

oooooooo my fav too! ones in purple packets and clear orange wraps yum yum!

we hate the creams and usually eat all the nutty ones and then swap the tin with a friend who hates nutty chocs

not sure about the other things too sweet for me, im more of a biscuit, crisp or sweet person. nothing nicer than a sherbert fountain!

Strawberries and ice cream i love too, but more so in the summer as its too cold at the moment.

Any way i had better go to bed or i will over sleep again. roll on thurs for a lie in!
