Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

Hi, kidrus, you could make mushroom soup, tomatoes, cucumber, celery and grape salad with grilled fish, carrots and leek soup, steemed or stir-fry mixed veg with chicken, baked potato with shredded carrots and cabbage, cabbage and carrot soup, use apples, grapes, celery, carrots for snacks. Grilled pinaple or baked banana for pudding.

kidsrus · 24/11/2007 23:38

forgot to say the banana & pineapple will be for the family as i have a real aversion to them both.
don't think i could even touch them to chop them.
last night i made soup using celery,fennel,garlic,peas,carrots,chicken & veg stock,fusilli pasta & s&p.
it was delious every body had seconds.
lost another 1lb this week how are you all doing?

fedda · 25/11/2007 16:33

I've lost around 1 kg but it's not for certain as my digitalscales show different weight even when I try to use them 4 times in a row. I just can't understand it. The difference can be around 800g. Anyway, I feel as if I lost a bit so iyt's good but my tummy is the same!

Fimbles5 · 26/11/2007 07:36

Congratulations kidsrus & fedda on your losses. We are all doing so well!! Lets try to keep up the good work. Fedda, glad you are feeling a little better about yourself. That tummy will start to shape up for you soon, I am sure. Just persevere X

Fimbles5 · 26/11/2007 07:38

Fedda - If its any consolation, we all have something about our bodies we dislike (mine being my thunderous thighs/legs) and why is it no matter how hard you try you lose the weight from all the other parts of your body, but the part you hate. (My bust which was fine, has wasted away !! We can do this and you will have your flat tummy and I will have my thin legs

fedda · 26/11/2007 14:10

Thank you, fimbles. I have the same problem with my bust and also my face but my tummy is just soo ugly. i don't hate it though, I just want to look not pregnant. It's not too much to ask. childbirth didn't help but even as a girl I had this problem and my dad had anourmous tummy being hugely overweight. I'm fighting with nature here so it's hard.

flatmouse · 26/11/2007 14:23

Ladies, without me reading the entire thread (rude and lazy i know but it'd take me forever) - have you all lost weight steadily through increased exercise?

I ask because i am now in week 10 of much increased exercise (2x gym 1hr program, 1x pilates 1hr, 2x walk 3-5 miles - per week)
and over the course of the 10 weeks i have lost a stunning, incredible.... 4lbs

I have (on the positive side) actually gone down a dress-size and feel alot healthier - but i have at least 2 stone to loose and am a little despondant it's not going.

Your views?

fedda · 26/11/2007 21:22

Hi, flatmouse. I don't know what it is with the exersise but when i was trying really hard I wasn't loosing any weight. i've only done walking now and I've lost weight only due to my healthy diet - I was never hungry and didn't feel deprived but it was boring from time to time. I was loosely following Joanna Hall no carbs after 5 diet where she focused on 5 carbs, not all of them and they were bread, pasta, rice, cereal and potato. Snacks were unsalted nuts, fruit and veg, I've stopped fruit yougurtd and fromage frais, buiscuits, cakes, crisps and reduced bread to minimum but my weight is up and down so i'm just trying and leaning as probably the rest of us.

kidsrus · 26/11/2007 21:38

girls they say muscle weighs heavier than fat!
so as long as we all feel better in ourselves that is more important than how much we weigh.
we could all be annorexic and still want to lose weight and feel bad about our bodies.
lets try to like our bodies.
its funny as you are saying you would prefer bigger chest but i would prefer a smaller one.If mine was removed i would lose a stone.
as for my stomach i remember saying as a child i looked like a cambodian.its about the same width as my chest.
the rest of my body is fine with me just a bit of toning needed.
which bit do you like the most? i think my small firm butt is mine.

fedda · 26/11/2007 21:59

I'm not sure I have any to be proud of. Sorry, it sounds sad but I'm just being realistic. I suppose apart from big tummy, small chest and narrow face, not firm bot, not being sporty or terribly healthy, not getting younger or prettier, I'm doing okay. Anyway, I'm pleased I've started to look after myself more making sure I eat healthy stuff and cut out the rubbish. Chrismas is going to be a hard time as I'll have my in-laws staying with us for 2 weeks and it will be difficult to full so many people when i have no potaoes, pasta or rice for dinner. Rice and cereal aren't a problem, even pasta and rice would be okay but potaoes will be here probably every evening! it's roast, isn't it? Oh, dear! And all these chockies and buiscuits with teas and coffes. they know that I lovehocolate with nuts and they will for sure give me a box! One has to be a total genuois not to put on weight with all these things!

kidsrus · 26/11/2007 22:30

but xmas is a time to indulge. have a little then back to the diet after you cant stay on a diet every day of the year but you can watch that you don't pig out.
a little of what you like is good.
a lot of what you love is bad

kidsrus · 26/11/2007 22:33

its also not what you look like its your personality too you seem to be so caring and positive and i would love to have a slim face instead of a round one.

fedda · 27/11/2007 14:00

Thank you, you seem to be caring too, kidrus. Don't we all though want what we don't have? I'd love to have a curly hair and a friend of mine hated her curles paying to her hairdresser to get her hair straight! Anyway, since I've lost some weight, although not as much as i wanted, I feel much better going up the hill not to stragle with my breath and even being happy to bend for my DS's toys and going upstairs and downstairs in the house. I used to try to avoid it as my heart was beating so fast and I'd be tired after going upstairs each time. Now it's no problem so it's good to feal lighter. I don't really want to gain it back due to Christmas and I'm very good at goining my weight back so I need some tips on how to stay healthy while enjoying myself. This trread is my favourite. I look at other threads and I don't feel the same way, i hope we all carry on posting. It helps a lot. Thank you everybody who is still here.

kidsrus · 28/11/2007 00:04

heres one way to get rid of sprouts www.eyegas.com/attackofthesprouts/
or you could eat them like this www.eyegas.com/sproutifarts/

fedda · 28/11/2007 18:13

Luckily i love sprouts and I eat them not only on Christmas day. I just steamthem and eat them with any meat. It's nice though to have a laugh.

kidsrus · 29/11/2007 19:04

please can you help us and vote

kidsrus · 29/11/2007 19:05

sorry forgot to say today before midnight please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fedda · 01/12/2007 10:37

I hope everyone is okay. I'm upset as I put on 700g. I know, it's not a lot but it's more rather then less!

Fimbles5 · 01/12/2007 12:34

Fedda - Please don't be upset. I really don't know what I can say to make things any better. You seem to be trying so hard, but yet not achieving the results, and believe me I know how hard that can be. How much have you lost since we started - I always weigh in pounds, so how much is 700g?? Try to look at the overall picture. You may have put on 700g this week but overall you have lost ? which you wouldn't have lost had you not been eating healthily. Keep smiling!!!

fedda · 01/12/2007 18:06

Thank you, fimbles. I'm afraid I'm useless with pounds, I only understand in killogrammes and 1000g + 1 kg. I've lost around 4 kg since we started and I was putting on 700g before, loosing it and putting it back. In the night time though it seems I weigh 2,5 kg more then 2 days ago so I might have put on more then I'm thinking. yes, I'm trying harder and I don't think i can try harder. I had an odd buiscuit or a bit of chocolate but generally I don't eat either and it's hard for me. I'm used to have 6 peanut cookies with my coffee and having 5 cups of coffee a day, now only 1 or 2. No cakes hovewer beauitifully looking! Anyway, how are you doing? please, don't be afraid to upset me if you have good news, it will inspire me, not upset me.

fedda · 01/12/2007 18:07

Sorry ,I ment 1000g = 1kg

fedda · 03/12/2007 14:29

I'm really fed up. I've put on some more weight and I have a feeling that probably most of you have stopped posting because you have the same news. Is there ANY hope?

kidsrus · 03/12/2007 15:50

fedda weigh first thing in the morning and after your best days not worse, also pee first .
i always weigh more at night.
