Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

oh dear the surprise element did'nt work ive gained 3lb over the weekend
but tried hard again today to make up for it.

porrige, salad with only ww biscuit 1 point and bit of l/f salad cream 2 kiwis and pork casserole made with loads of veg tinned toms and oxo cubes. my sin was a healthy eating pomegrate bar. 1 coffee white with 1,fruit tea and 1 hotchoc low cal.do you think thats ok or am i over doing it?

fedda · 12/11/2007 22:03

kidrus, my weight goes up and down and what really helps me is vegetable soup but I avoid oxo cubes. I have to say I don't loke all these sins ideas and special slimming products but I'm suppose i'm lucky as i love fruit and veg and have it a lot for snacks. I can't stand herbal teas and i rare have fruit tea, they taste totally artificial to me and I'm much happier to have black tea with a good squezz of lemon and a tea spoon of honey. mind you, my mum in low wouldn't touch it so there you go. Everybody has different taste. The point is though, I think is to have normal food which makes us slim and many veges and berries do. kellogs K is loaded with sugar and some other stuff and to me they taste not very nice so having tried them I'm out, I'm afraid. The same goes for their bars. All this special slimming stuff is just confusing us and on the long run i think makes us fatter but it's just my opinion based on my experience. Soups don't make us fat if we use veg and water, my secret ingredient is some semi-skimmed milk i add to some of them which makes my soup taste creamy. Anyway, good luck to us all and we are only people, we can make mistakes, we should worry. Even computers do. Yesterday i've lost my connection in the evening and nothing i could do about it. So, there is always tomorrow and we can make things better. Nobody is perfect, all we can do is try.

kidsrus · 12/11/2007 22:30

thanks fedda im off to bed with a glass of water now as i feel like eating something.
i will have to dream about eating instead hopefully that won't make me fat.
Like you say my weight goes up and down like a yoyo. i might weigh in the morn to see if its any different. good night all

fedda · 12/11/2007 22:58

I must take myself off the computer as well. I'm also going to have some water. Good night.

kidsrus · 13/11/2007 22:43

Yeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
I weighed again this morning and that 3lb has gone along with another 1lb.
I'm dismissing yesterdays weight as todays makes me feel more positive.
perhaps i should weigh on a tues after a good mon instead of mon after a bad sun
done quite good today porridge, pork casserole left over, baked pot with tuna & salad, pomegrante bar 1 coffee apple, satsuma & big sin half pack garibaldi (6.5pts).
But they were nice and i know i did wrong

fedda · 13/11/2007 22:54

Oh, I love garibaldi. i feel i'm overeating. i had poridge for breakfast which was good but then instead of just veg soup as intended i had to taste my mince for dinner's stuffed peppers so i ended up having soup with sweet potatoes, cattots, chopped tomatoes and minced meet! Had bluberries and apples and then 2 stuffed peppers with minced beet, chopped garlic, grated cattot, chopped can tomatoes, mushrooms and peas. before lunch I had to have new Starbaks creation of cream brulle late! i also had 2 cups of coffee at home. i don't want to weigh myself today or tomorrow!

kidsrus · 13/11/2007 22:59

that sounds alright to me fedda it was mainly fruit and veg the only things with calories was the mince and cream brulle.
You have to have some calories!

fedda · 13/11/2007 23:07

thank you, kidrus. i feel i had too big portions and I just feel I overdid it today. It's this heavy feeling which I don't like and also i didn't need that last cup of coffee and i knew it, I boiled my kettle 3 times starting with fresh water each time, knowing that I didn't want it but somehow i wanted to have it. Do you know the feeling? i was doing really well before. May be i started to rebel? So stupid of me!

kidsrus · 13/11/2007 23:18

yes i know the feeling it was the same one i had before i ate those garibaldi's but i haven't had any for at least a year and it was my reward for losing that weight(well thats my excuse!)life is no fun without being a bit naughty sometimes

fedda · 13/11/2007 23:38

That's true but i developed my reward system and I had a massage today so i should have known better. in my rewards there re things like geting new clothes, scarfs, neclesses, massage, hair cut, going to theatre, the list can be endless without food but i feel i failed myself today. You know it's easier for me not to have ice-cream then just have 1, not to have buiscuits then to have 2? i don't know when to stop so if i don't have garibaldi I'm fine, if someone offers me with my tea or coffee- i need at least 3! The same goes for peanut cookies and my favourite fruit yougurts. Anyway, we i cook i need to know whether it's any good and when I taste and i like it - that's doomed. Stuffed peppers were too good, it's their fault!

kidsrus · 14/11/2007 21:24

stuffed peppers sounds good, do you stuff with bolognase or cous cous?
Im trying to find new easy recipes with low calories.
Porridge, whole tin veg soup, bangers mash & onion gravey,1 coffee,1 hot choc,1 kiwi & 1 apple hopeing thats not too many cals for today.

fedda · 14/11/2007 21:59

I stuffed peppers with minced beef, chopped garlic (didn't have onions but normaly i'd have chopped onion as well), can skinned tomatoes wich I chopped with scissors, frozen peas and grated carrot (my mum would always use rice but i didn't as it was for after 5 and i'm stil trying to avoid some carbs joanna Hall suggested after 5PM). They were nice but they's taste better with rice though.
Today i had porrige with a spoon of honey made with semi-skimmed milk, no water as I don't like watery porridge, sweet potato, carrot, peas and a bit of mince in my soup from yesterday, apples and bluberries, a cup of tea with honey and lemon, a cup of coffee with honey and nuts 9unsalted), grapes. it's a lot! i also had mushroom omelete with salad of tomatoes, cucumber, spinach leaves, avocado, grapes and 1/2 apple. So, do i have any hope?

kidsrus · 14/11/2007 22:27

is honey a diet secret i don't know about? i was just looki8ng on another diet thread and they seem to be eating lots of honey too.
I have never tried Blue berries what do they taste like? Sweet? sour? dare i try them?

fedda · 14/11/2007 23:24

Honey is not a diet secret. I'm afraid any sweet product whether sugar, glucose, artificial sweetener, molasses, honey, fruit sugar or lot's of others are still sugars and leed to obesity. Some people say honey is better and I tend to believe it so since I simply can't have tea or coffee unsweetened i go for honey. Bluberries is wonder food. It was discovered it's good for memory and for eye sight, it's goof for your waist and it also tastes wonderful - it's sweet. Do try it and enjoy guilt free sweet things.

kidsrus · 14/11/2007 23:45

ahh i need memory food (what was i talking about)
Do you know any foods good for alertness too?
My poor ds complains if i sit down to listen to him read that i'm snoring.
M/n is the only thing that keeps me awake, talking of that i'd better go and get some shut eye good night all.

fedda · 15/11/2007 11:20

unfortunately we are all effected by computers so we do feel more tired. I also tend to stay up to 12 midnight as this is my time but I pay for it in the morning. Good energy food is raw salads, soups raw energy when you grate your veg which are possible to eat raw and gently reheat it and eat it. Fruit is also good and so are berries. i have to say it again, I'm not qualified to give any advice so it's only my experience and what i read in books and magazines.

fedda · 16/11/2007 21:48

2 cups of cofee with grated chocolate and dry vanilla on the top in Starbaks, normal dinner but followed by brie and cofee with 4 squares of milk chocolate with nuts - it's all just naughty! . I need a recsue!

kidsrus · 17/11/2007 23:55

porridge,cake,soup,cake,crisps,big mac,chips,and choc shake,another cake, strawberries,kiwi and grapes [hmmm]
Beat that!
tomo's another day
i will try harder.

Fimbles5 · 18/11/2007 19:41

Can I join in too - I won't even attempt to list what I have eaten over the weekend.
Should we all start a fresh tomorrow

fedda · 18/11/2007 20:30

There is some hope, though. I recsued myself with beetroot soup made with raw beetroot which i cooked with it's skin, carrots, chopped tomatoes and herbs and spices. I also had some apples for snacks and today i had quark with some honey for breakfast, 2 bananas and unsweetened coffee latte for lunch and roast dinner - lamb, brassell sprouts, carrots and parsnips, some cheese with plenty of grapes and i'm going to have a cup of coffee and later some apples. Let's all try.

Starbear · 18/11/2007 20:57

Sorry girls I have abandoned you all. Not feeling great, no real excuses. I'm going to start again on Monday. I did feel better with no carbs after 5pm and I was losing weight but I got bored with it all. Please forgive me can I rejoin?

OP posts:
fedda · 18/11/2007 21:15

Starbear, you are a star of this thread. You've started it all and inspired so many of us. Please, keep posting. I'm afraid we all get fed up from time to time and we have slips. What's important though is that we are still trying to do what we can. Let's inspire each other. I can't have tea or coffee without something to go with it. I now have pieces of apple (or 2 apples) or quark with a taspoon of honey, or unsalted nuts or grapes. What do you have with your cuppa?

Starbear · 21/11/2007 21:40

Fedda I think you are fab but typically I have been on the computer chatting instead of getting some work done around the house or ironing name tags etc. I have very limited time in the evenings as I have to go to bed sooo early. I might just post every weekend when I have a little more time. Off to cuddle DH on the sofa now. I think love makes us a bit chubby

OP posts:
fedda · 21/11/2007 22:14

Starbear, thank you for your kind words. I'm not at all fab but it's still pleasant to read. I spend a lot of time on the net and read instead of doing stuff. Anyway, speaking of reading, i read 'Frennch women don't get fat' and the point of the book was that french women don't care for excersise or low fat diet, they enjoy bread, chocolate and stuff many of us deny but they know how much to eat and when to stop. Unfortunately I'll never learn that and instead of 6 nuts I'll have the whole bowl of them! The only thing which helps me is soups and salads with a bit of olive oil and a lot of lemon juice. I can have generous portions of soups and salads and I don't feel guilty. Anyway, enjoy your closiness with DH. Mine is asleep already! I should be too but that's my time now!

Fimbles5 · 22/11/2007 20:02

Hello everyone - How are we all doing this week??? Didn't want our thread to fade away, as I so want us all to stay motivated and reach our goals, and this is helping me so much. After a very bad weekend, I once again spiralled out of control, but cannot believe I managed to lose 1.5lbs anyway. I can only put this down to the amount of exercise I did last week. This may mean that next week when I weigh in I could be in for a big shock, but am happy at the moment . Any other success stories to keep us going??
