Got back from hols last Saturday and promised I would start weight lose on Monday. Got into work on Tuesday to find a large tin of biscuits on the desk. Not good. Thought I would try Mumsnet for moral support and found out everyone started without me.
I'm 44 years (Jane Fonda where are you now!) 12 stones 5'6 and need to join in with others to lose the flab. Have 3 year old and work part-time 3 days a week, in a Yukky job. Anyone want to join me?
What get advice on losing weight mainly using exrcise as I really love my food
With a little support I might be able to diet too.

fedda - I am sure we are all having our ups and downs! I know I am!! Had a better weekend, and hopefully am back on track for the week. How much have you now lost? Think to yourself had you not of joined this thread, you may not have lost that. We must all stay positive.

fedda · 15/10/2007 11:38

Fimbles, since i joined the thread on a whole i've lost 4 kg but yesterday i gained 300g which is not a lot but it sort of started to come back. i need to stay in focus. It's so hard to maintain and keep going. I need to loose at least 3 more kg and keep it up. It's very hard espessially when my DH absolutely against the idea. I'm glad i have support on MN and I'm happy for all of us. We try our best but nobody can be perfect. No carbs after 5 is the clearest diet I've ever come across but it's still hard as most of my meals simplay need potatoes or rice. I can leave our cereal, pasta and bread easily but potatoes especcially are integrated part of my cooking so i just try it when i can and J. Hall says 80% is good enough. She also restricts teas and coffees to 2 cups a day and I sometimes have 3 but as i said, can't be perfect. i don't drink enough water, maximum 4 glasses a day so 2 littres is just beyond my patience.

Fimbles5 · 15/10/2007 18:10

Fedda - Have you thought about trying the sugar free flavoured volvic water. I buy a large bottle, keep it in the fridge and try to drink the whole bottle in a day. This is still not as much water as I should be drinking but it is a good start, and it is tasty too. Feels like a treat!! especially the strawberry flavour.

Fimbles5 · 15/10/2007 18:15

oh, and just dashed off to find out how much 4kgs is in lbs, and you are doing so well. We cannot expect miracles overnight, stay focused for Christmas, we have not been doing this for long and are doing so well. Draw a line under the bad days, hopefully the good ones will counteract.

Starbear · 15/10/2007 21:23

Fimbles5 How did you do?
Didn't go to the gym yesterday because I had a cold. Really because I couldn't cope going to the gym so early, no tea in the house and had to get Ds to a party by 12noon. Did go for a run with the club. Felt a bit yukky as I'm on the blob (so juvenile)so didn't do all. I'm down to 70 kgs. Need to lose 2lbs this week to make it fab
Meandmy, Hello just join in. How much do you want to lose? How are you planning on getting there?

Fimbles5 · 15/10/2007 21:29

Starbear - I managed to put on 3lbs in as many days!!! But as fedda says, we all have bad weeks, so I have been very motivated this week, so am looking forward to weigh in on Thursday and hopefully I will have put right all that went wrong last week. We will see?!? How are you doing?

fedda · 15/10/2007 21:42

Fimbles, I hope you will have good news soon. I went to the library and borrowed some books on detox. I'm not going to stay off meat and fish but I'll use the recipies to get more good stuff and hopefully it will still work. i went to coffee shop with my DS and I had a salmon sandwich removing half of the bread and coffee late with haselnut syrup but for lunch and dinner i made soup with cabbage, carrots, baby corn, garlic and can plum tomatoes with herbs and spices. i also had 2 cups of tea with jam sweetened with grape juice and unsalted nuts. I'm doing not brilliant but not too bad, I hope. i hope i'll dance for a bit later

kidsrus · 15/10/2007 22:30

hiya all stale mate for me this week but haven't been too well so snacked on crap a bit! fedda we had haddock, mash, peas and cheese sauce for tea and i thought of you whilst i made a fish pie with the left overs.
i mixed some fish & peas with the sauce in a dish covered with remaining mash and froze.
So on an if it day there should be a suitable meal for everyone in my freezer

fedda · 15/10/2007 23:27

Thank you, kidsrus. I hope you feel better soon.

Starbear · 16/10/2007 10:13

Fimbles5, I'm planning a major attack next Monday. Do you want to join me? How about it everyone else? Next Monday I'm going give up biscuits, cake, sweet things. Eat more veg and fruit. Give exercise a real go and see what the result will be the following week. I couldn't do it every week. Just one to give the weight lose a boost. (maybe it will work maybe it won't!

fedda · 16/10/2007 10:33

Starbear, I'll join you. No sweet things is fine with me. Would it be all right to have walking as wxcersise/ I don't mean mad walking, just walkin an hour a day at a normal speed like slim people walk?

Starbear · 16/10/2007 10:48

Fedda, Just do anything. Add a little extra to each and every day. Walk to the shops with a trolley instead of driving. Play kiss chase with the kids. Sit ups before having a shower. Get off the computer and run up and down on the spot. That sort of thing just add a little more ommph! Just to next week as see if the extra effort is worth it.

Hello, just come across this thread, please can I join too? I'm 5'4" and 11 stone. I should be 9 and a half. Weight has gone on slowly but surely since having children. Am a chocoholic and perisitant snacker. Have never tried dieting before as I doubt the power of my will. Have just starting listening to Paul McKenna's i can make you thin CD, in the hope that i can reprogramme my subconscious into not wanting to eat unless genuinely hungry and not to overeat. The proof will be in the absence of pudding!

Starbear · 17/10/2007 23:56

saffycat just jump in. Must go to bed now.
Speak soon

saffycat · 18/10/2007 22:32

Oh dear, suspected fatness confirmed at work today when a client asked exitedly, 'are you expecting?' I had to answer 'no, I'm just fat '. Bit of a wake up call, definately time to do take action.
