Lose in December ...

Yes really, you CAN

This thread is carrying on from the previous threads. This is November’s Thread.

Same as previous threads, I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which underpins healthy eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.

That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome

With planning and self care we can enjoy ourselves as well as maintain or even lose in December. I think we all agree that the main thing is to enjoy the festivities 🥳 without beating ourselves up if we end up throwing caution to the wind.

I am not calorie counting so no clue but I feel I'm probably eating 6.5/10 okay. DH adamant can't be pregnant and I'm sure he is right but I'm a bit scared.

SunshineCake · 07/12/2019 21:06

Thank you MrsJones. Maybe you have my period?! Glad you had a better day.

DownUdderer · 08/12/2019 01:35

I had cauliflower, broccoli and carrots with cream and cheese for dinner. Yum

BustedDreams · 08/12/2019 06:54

Morning

That’s my kind of supper at @DownUdderer ... that sounded delish 😋

@SunshineCake how are you today? Any better? I hope so.

Waves at @MrsJonesAndMe ... nice to see you.

Well I think I must be inhaling fumes from the Christmas goodies I’m surrounded with .... gained! I did have 25g of Chocotoney chocolate. Now that is a nice treat to have. But was eaten as part of cal allowance so should not gain!

Today is going to be tricky ... out with friends for lunch. I’m decided I won’t be drinking alcohol (I don’t much anyway, so not hard to do), won’t have dessert. Small sensible starter like prawns or something then the carvery roast, no spuds, stuffing or yorkie. OMAD as usual for Sunday. Should be ok to navigate.

Hope you all have a great Sunday.

Morning all

I have woken up in agony with my leg and back and even though I took paracetamol 50 minutes ago the pain is still as bad. I also feel really sick and have gained and look fat too.

I just want to cry. I clearly can't eat normally unless I am happy putting on weight and having tummy issues but I am so sick of living on three things.

I'm tired. Sad. In pain. Over three weeks late with my period and just wish I could be alone but don't want to wallow as that is a waste of time. Everyone is still asleep and I'm not.

Octopus37 · 08/12/2019 16:38

Sunshine, sending you hugs, sorry you are feeling so shit. Could your pains in your legs and back be hormonal, have had v similar this weekend, period started on Thursday. Those heat pads that you can buy help a bit. Hope that you are managing to get some rest today. Re your period, could you be going through peri, think I am on the brink of that, am nearly 45. Well done to everyone who is loosing weight, not doing brilliantly here, was the same 9st8 and a quarter yesterday morning, but have been eating maltesers this weekend and had a Chinese takeaway last night. Also haven't been able to do my exercise routine the last 4 days cause of all my aches and pains.

Obligatorync · 08/12/2019 16:44

Hello all! I'm a classic yoyoer...3 or 4 lb off a week, lose 3 stone, binge it all back on.
So I've been doing things differently and have lost 24lb in the last 25 weeks. I work harder some days than others.
Today I am sick as a dog so haven't eaten anything, it's not been hard work though. Hoping to manage dinner.

ConfusedAndStressed95 · 08/12/2019 19:44

Been a really crap couple of weeks here for diet and exercise and I have completely failed to track my eating habits. But I have only bitten four nails in total and left the other six alone and according to my mother I've bit my nails before I had a full set of teeth. Hoping to get back on track this week.

DownUdderer · 09/12/2019 03:16

Good luck everyone, feel better to everyone not feeling great.

I’m a pound down today, I’ve reached my goal of a healthy BMI! I was pleasantly shocked when I put it into my weight app!

We’re getting close to the end of the school year over here, just a week and a half to go and then it’s the summer holidays. If I plan ahead I’m ok with my food. I just need to avoid ice creams when we’re out! I try and have a skinny cow ice cream in the freezer at home for when I just cannot say no!

DownUdderer · 09/12/2019 03:17

I still would like to lose 9lb.

BustedDreams · 09/12/2019 08:56

Happy Monday Peeps

How motivated are you today? I’m on it with a home made mushroom soup for lunch and a medley of roast vegetables for evening meal.

I’ve stayed the same which is good! A treat or two did sneak in yesterday. Someone brought me a g&t from the bar and I had a dessert of pavlova with winter berries. Totally enjoyed every bit. Good food and good company feed the soul.

@SunshineCake Sorry to hear you’re not feeling good. I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it all better for you. Have you looked around an anti-inflammatory diet or The Wahls Protocol. I’m reading this at the moment. It’s very similar to how I eat anyway but with a few tweaks.

@Octopus37 I think to maintain at this time of year is a win Grin

@Obligatorync welcome and I hope you’re feeling somewhat better! Have you been able to identify the trigger for the self-sabotage? Losing 3st is great 👍 24lbs in 25 weeks is a nice steady loss. What have you done differently?

@ConfusedAndStressed95 yes sometimes life gets in the way of the best intentions. Sending motivational vibes.

@DownUdderer bloody well done on getting to healthy bmi👍🌟🏅. Awesome!

Hello everyone, I have been absent for a long time! A perfect storm of horrible work, stressful home stuff and family troubles made me disappear for a bit. And of course gain a bit, but I want to be back in it now that term has nearly finished!

It sounds as though lots of people are having a tough time At the moment, so 💐🌻💪🏼For all of us. I’ve missed your community and all you lovely people so looking forward to being back in the swing of things.

And as always, mega thanks to @BustedDreams for keeping this going.

Hi all and welcome back @DrDiva

Have a great day @BustedDreams and a Star for you @DownUdderer

I'm still hovering around 12.4kg down, so happy enough to pootle along.

Thinking of you @SunshineCake

fallfallfall · 09/12/2019 16:49

Hello all, surprised myself and my morning weigh in is down.
Exercise routine going along well, with my elliptical in place (previously hidden in a closet) to ensure I do 7km a day.
Aiming to meet my Apple Watch December challenge, a perfect month and close in on 365 days of exercise.
Food choices must be close to my 12-1300 calorie as that’s my norm and we’ve not eaten out.

DrDiva · 09/12/2019 20:27

Today’s success was not snacking between meals.

A (very) small success, but perhaps one nevertheless.

SunshineCake · 09/12/2019 21:56

Hello everyone

Sorry not been on today. So busy with vet and doctor visits along with housework and dog walking.

Around a pound or a little over a pound down this morning. Does it count when it's the same pound I've lost before ?

Not heard of those plans , @BustedDreams but will have a look, probably at the weekend as all week is busy and I need time to concentrate and make notes.

I am so touched by all your kind messages and good wishes to me. Makes me so emotional when I think how my own parents have never once asked how I am and just caused trouble necessitating me to be brought up in care. Strangers care more than them. Thank you.

BustedDreams · 10/12/2019 00:08

@SunshineCake try This link to read about the Wahls Protocol (don’t be put off my the mention of ms) Yes of course your 1lb loss counts, it’s another 1lb down from yesterday Grin

@fallfallfall 👍

@DrDiva that’s positive! It’s so hard this time of year with all the festive treats about.

Bless you @SunshineCake. We care about you!

I’ve had a mini woosh and lost a pound today, so two pounds in two days! I’m chuffed.

The smoke is really intense today, they’ve been back burning to try and avoid the fires spreading. I’ll try and add a photo.

One photo shows today’s smoke and the other shows what our view is on a clear evening.

fallfallfall · 10/12/2019 05:19

i remember that color well from the fires we had a few years back. i hope it settles soon.

DrDiva · 10/12/2019 07:51

Good morning!

@DownUdderer I really hope they get the fires under control soon. So awful for you always to have this hanging over you.

I have been following about White Island in NZ. I used to live where you could see the almost constant wisp of smoke from the crater. I don’t understand why people were allowed onto the island when the threat had been raised? Sad I’m sure access used to be much stricter.

BustedDreams · 10/12/2019 09:00

Morning Campers

STS. Today’s going to be difficult .... making cookie tree decorations ... the aroma will really torment me. I will be writing the initials/names of our deceased loved one on some of them. On Christmas Day I also lay a ‘place’ with a candle in memory of them all.

@DownUdderer does all the smoke affect your breathing? It looks quite scary, even though they are controlled fires. Keep safe.

@DrDiva the White Island eruption is terrible and I send condolences to all those who’ve lost loved ones. I’m really surprised that they allow visitors onto a active volcano. I wonder if that will change now.

I’ve been to White Island in NZ. I went years and years ago, maybe 15 years ago. It’s such a shock, so sad. It was a fascinating place to visit.
