Lose in December ...

Yes really, you CAN

This thread is carrying on from the previous threads. This is November’s Thread.

Same as previous threads, I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which underpins healthy eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.

That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome

With planning and self care we can enjoy ourselves as well as maintain or even lose in December. I think we all agree that the main thing is to enjoy the festivities 🥳 without beating ourselves up if we end up throwing caution to the wind.

@RubySlippers77 it really helped but discovering I was intolerant to 30 things was a shock. I stopped eating all of the culprits and lost 1.5 stone. I have had two more tests and currently should not eat about eight things. I'm struggling though now tbh.

@Ruraldream hello and welcome. Painful bloating is horrible. I hope you find something that works.

Hi @MrsJonesAndMe how are you doing ? I was 0.5lb down this morning. Yay.

Went for my asthma check. No improvement. Had impromptu blood test after lovely nurse asked another lovely nurse to squeeze me in. Have to have another test to check for lung damage. Busy day with dd but now I'm feeling very shaky and want to hide in bed. Also, nurse not happy hospital refused to do a brain scan that the GP wanted so he's going to chat to the GP and get it sorted. Nurse is worried Sad.

MrsJonesAndMe · 04/12/2019 20:05

I'm OK-ish. Hoping that it gets pushed forward for you @sunshinecake x

SunshineCake · 04/12/2019 20:57

Here if you want to chat, MrsJones.

Thank you.

DownUdderer · 05/12/2019 01:39

As soon as I let myself have a few carbs I want more and they do make me feel rubbish. I had a chocolate and mint slice from a cafe today and it made me feel ill! I felt sickly. So silly!

I’ll have something better for lunch, low carb.

fallfallfall · 05/12/2019 05:04

welcome rural
i hope you get the call soon for you scan sunshine and that your health concerns settle
i'm so set with my food choices i don't know what i'd do if i had allergies and intolerance.
9pm the "kitchen is closed" and i'd kill for a cup of tea with milk and SUGAR

Jollyholibobs · 05/12/2019 07:35

Yesterday good day. Closed on 1094 cals.
Weight down again this morning
I am out this evening with ex colleagues for a pre Xmas get together. Involving a meal. Have looked at restaurants website for the menu. It’s often good to plan ahead but I am struggling to find a low cal, healthy vegetarian option. It’s a Turkish restaurant. This will happen a lot over the next few weeks. Feels silly to call off as I really enjoy this yearly catch up with old friends. Will try and opt out of a starter and a desert. And avoid the flat bread.
On the plus side weight is down another 2lbs this morning.posting on here helps me to focus. I didn’t make it to the gym as was travelling for work and got back late. Did not fall into my bad habit of eating rubbish though when I got home late tired and hungry. Had a healthy snack on the train which helped.

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/12/2019 12:23

Well done @Jollyholibobs

It's nothing major @SunshineCake just lots of little things that pile up. Feel like running away TBH, but I should count my lucky stars for all the good instead really slaps self

Have a good day everyone x

BustedDreams · 05/12/2019 14:12

That’s a great day you had @Jollyholibobs and to find a little loss is rewarding.

@SunshineCake hope you’re ok. Try not to worry to much, although I know that’s easier said than done.

@MrsJonesAndMe hope stuff improves for you soon!

@fallfallfall it’s so difficult when the cravings hit. Well done for swerving the sugar!

I've no clue what I am doing but I haven't been counting calories. All just got op difficult weighing everything as impossible sometimes to work it out. Just breathing is a win atm.

DownUdderer · 06/12/2019 01:11

I need to get my head together and refocus. I’ve had a few days in a row where I’ve been making excuses and indulging in carbs and sugary snacks. It’s annoyingly because it makes me feel sick, and fed up and it makes me moody too! I slept crap last night.

After Mum and dad left to return to the UK, I’ve just taken my foot off the pedal.

I’m trying to make good choices today. I’ve been to the supermarket and bought heaps of veg.

I ate donuts the other day! I just couldn’t say no to myself and I’m up a pound today.

I hope week two of December can be better for me.

Koko everyone.

Jollyholibobs · 06/12/2019 06:45

Up 1.6lbs today after a bit of an overdo yesterday. Felt a bit overtired all day and there were Christmas themed cakes at work towards the end of the day I could not resist. But it’s still going to be there today so definitely need to give myself a shake. Otherwise my meal out was delicious last night and not too heavy. I think I had mentally written the day off as I knew the evening meal would tip me over my calories. Not a healthy way to view it I know. @DownUdderer I recognise what you are describing. Sometimes it takes too much mental energy to keep yourself on the right track. Don’t beat yourself up just refocus and look forward.

Busy weekend ahead. Definitely need a plan to prevent falling off the wagon.

Have a good day everyone.

DownUdderer · 06/12/2019 09:46

I agree, planning really helps! It helps to just stick to the plan and not even think about off plan foods. And it helps not to buy off plan food! If it’s in the house it’s just a temptation!

DownUdderer · 06/12/2019 10:08

I’m just reading that 21 Canadian fire fighters have arrived in Sydney to help the Australian fire fighters. I cannot imagine flying across the globe to help out out bush fires. Very humbling.

BustedDreams · 06/12/2019 13:34

@DownUdderer good idea stocking up on healthy veg. It does feel more difficult to follow healthy eating principles and I honestly think it’s mainly due to psychological reasons ... eating our feelings. Fingers crossed week 2 is better for you (hug) What hero fire fighters ❤️

@Jollyholibobs office cake is the devil 👿. Just imagine it sitting around your hips and tum long after the taste of it has past! You can resist, you can resist .... repeat ;)

@SunshineCake hope you’re having a better time of it.

I’ve had home made coleslaw (made a batch) and boiled eggs for lunch. Quite nice. Stew later.

I’m just starting to trim up 🎄it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas 🌟

Hi everyone🙂

Busy day and feeling a little emotional

Lovely time walking my dog and was shocked when I realised we had been out for an hour and three quarters. Saw a dog we hadn't seen for ages which was lovely. Then my friend and her puppy arrived so that was wonderful. He's a sweetheart.

Christmas shopping but I was upset as dd had been very rude to me before I dropped her off.

Currently feeling very sick and faint. When I move I feel I may pass out. TOTM is about 2-3 weeks late too.

Also stressing as need some cotton fingerless gloves and can't find them anywhere.

fallfallfall · 06/12/2019 19:52

I’ve had my head down and focused, I’m pleased with the am weights, down and staying down from my dec1 weigh in.
Walking the track with weights has increased my heart rate during exercise. And I’m feeling fine (occasional tender knees).
Decorating done, I’ve proceeded onto cards.
sunshine what is the lightheaded stuff about, late TOM has me wondering if there’s a bun in the oven?
down, international help is totally cool, I gather your team helps here during our fire season.
I’ll chat more later, off to the track.

SunshineCake · 06/12/2019 22:08

Shock. I really can't be pregnant. I'm knackered and old.

DownUdderer · 06/12/2019 23:27

I’ve seen a drop this morning. I’ve lost the little gain I had plus one pound. I’m 10st 6. I’m 10lbs from target, and I’d like to get there in 5 weeks, because that’s my birthday! I’m not sure that will happen, but if I take my eyes off the goal then I really eat the wrong things.

fallfallfall · 06/12/2019 23:57

i try and control the home front with; home cooked meals and portion control adding in loads of veggies to make up for the decreased starches. but easily fall prey to things i love and have little ability to resist (nuts cake cheese, even dried fruit) best dealt with by simply NOT having any in the house.
yesterday i was invited and attended a brunch (great if i was doing intermittent fasting) as the person i was meeting was late and
technically had my breakfast at 11 am...BUT i didn't look at the menu as closely as i should.
they had three different portion sizes! extra, regular and small....in hindsight the small would have been perfect. note to self and others read the small print :).
busted i have a little bit of red cabbage left, not sure how i will use it up but i won't let it go to waste. not sure if "Buddha" bowls are popular elsewhere but that's what we're having for supper over here. it's more about the presentation than the ingredients. we stopped off at the east indian restaurant that we are huge fans of, together with fresh veggies and really nice mixed means i will fashion a bowl.

BustedDreams · 07/12/2019 07:07

@fallfallfall I love red cabbage. Cooked or raw in slaw. Yes I do budda bowls too. Usually with a salad or rice dish.

@DownUdderer 👍 Every little helps. The last milestone is always the longest. I lost just over 2 stone relatively quickly. The last stone is proving quite a challenge. I like a challenge Grin

Santa Claus Tracker for those with little ones.

Forgot to say we managed to put the Christmas decorations up yesterday and last night WITHOUT the usual mulled wine and nibbles accompaniment Grin. Have the scales rewarded me. No!

Morning all.

I'm trying to maintain progress by compensating for over indulgence with eating less later. Not sure that's the best way to go, but I find that denying any treats tends to make keeping going harder.

I saw almost a lb upwards blip this week, TOTM bloat I guess. Pleasantly surprised to see I'm a whole lb back down today. ☺️

Need to catch up on the thread a bit... Unfortunately working today. 🙄

SunshineCake · 07/12/2019 13:18

Up at 6 to drop off DD so haven't weighed myself. Another morning feeling sick and dizzy though Confused.

fallfallfall · 07/12/2019 18:53

So sunshine are you eating enough? Especially long lasting protein?

MrsJonesAndMe · 07/12/2019 19:05

Hi all, still around. Just sending some hugs your way @SunshineCake

We had a really good day, so a better mood here. period showed up after messing about all week which also tends to help my mood.

Hope you all have a good evening, check in again tomorrow.
