Lose in November

Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Just a quick one to stay accountable. I won’t list last nights food choices yet but I Def think counting til midnight is the way to go.

Yesterday;
Breakfast - fruit and fibre cereal
Snack - popcorn and chocolate
Dinner - jacket pot with bbq pulled pork, cheese and veg

Came in at 1550.
No idea on weight but uniform feels comfortable now and I’m not getting heartburn anymore. I’m going to keep going though as I’m sure I’m only a days bloat away from it being uncomfortable again so I do need to lose a good 10lb to make this permanent.

Not feeling very happy in myself at the monent, I’ve just gone back on antidepressants so I’m finding I’m not making the healthiest choices right now but my calories are staying in the right place so I’m not going to stress. I’m not binging despite my mood which I’m proud of doing not going to beat myself up over a few days lacking veg.

SunshineCake · 07/11/2019 09:54

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling good at the moment *@Foreverlexicon. Is that because you are on the ADs and not happy about it or you are on them because you aren't feeling well? I've been on them several times as had PND & AND four times but they weren't helping, no meds would for me with what was wrong, but I take Angus Castus and couldn't manage well without them.

Plan today is to have a decent breakfast as when I don't I'm hungry more in the evening. Was there a study that showed weight gain wasn't because of late night eating so no time to burn it off but it's all, and just, about the calorie amount.

BustedDreams · 07/11/2019 10:18

@Foreverlexicon sorry to hear about how you’re feeling. Hope you feel better soon! The fact you remain in control of your eating is a huge positive! Well done. Sending a hug.

Thanks @busteddreams! (Hope that's worked...)

Yesterday was pretty good for me - I had fish and salads at lunch, and just 2 spoons of DH's ice cream. Had a much better night with the baby too so I feel positive for today. Started well, with porridge (I actually weighed out a 40g portion!) and an apple, and planning a big salad and some kind of protein for lunch.

@Sunshinecake, do you find that Agnus castus helps with low mood/ depression? I'm highish risk for PND and would rather not need antidepressants if possible (though I know they're a huge help to a lot of people, and I will definitely take them if that becomes necessary)

@Foreverlexicon, it sounds like you're doing really well, avoiding binges despite low mood. That's such a positive. I hope you start to feel better soon but meanwhile be kind to yourself.

MrsJonesAndMe · 07/11/2019 12:51

Hello all

Just a quick check in. My belly (girly section) feel really tender. Forgot to mark last cycle on calendar so a bit in the dark, but guessing it's my period on it's way.

(((hugs))) to @Foreverlexicon and @SunshineCake

I fell into a box of chocolates and a hot chocolate this morning Blush Jacket with salad for lunch and chilli and rice for tea.

fallfallfall · 07/11/2019 15:14

@BustedDreams 3 separate ingredients.

buzzofthebumblebee · 07/11/2019 15:18

Hope the AD's kick-in again soon @Foreverlexicon, and you emerge from the fog soon. But the fact that you are on-track with calories is a huge achievement - don't underestimate that, or yourself!

You've given me food for thought too (ha ha !!). I could quite easily dive into the biscuits today to numb the work stress. But no - food is not the answer. So I've saved myself zillions of calories already today. It better show in tomorrow's weigh-in !

SunshineCake · 07/11/2019 16:11

Cathy31 - my old GP told me about AC as he wanted to get me off ADs but it took a while as I still needed the ADs. Then I felt they weren't helping so fibbed to the GP and have taken AC ever since. It works for me as I feel it if I miss one. I don't think you can take it when breast feeding though, you mention a baby so just alerting you. I am peri-menopausal and will take AC for as long as I have periods.

buzzofthebumblebee · 07/11/2019 17:36

V interesting sunshine please may you let me know dose, brand, and where you get the AC from? I may just give them a try - also hated AD's, and peri-m, and feel I need something. Especially now I've vetoed the sugary carby sweet stuff. 9 days in without sugar and I feel heaps better, and my body generally less bloated.

I have to admit though I haven't quit the alcohol yet, and yes technically it is sugar. But I have it in the form of gin and slimline. My mind is a constant whirr. Feel I need the gin to wind down. I bet I don't - but at the moment, it is one step too far to quit that too.

SunshineCake · 07/11/2019 19:34

Mungomango · 07/11/2019 20:48

Hi all, hope everyone's doing well. Zero weight loss for me this week which is a bit disappointing, but at least I've maintained.

I've got DD8's birthday party this week so I'm going to have to be strong with all the sweets and goodies around the house!

I've got a dance class tonight and I'm going to try and get out for a run (ok, slow waddle!) this weekend too.

I'm feeling inspired by the chat about soup and also making your own bread. I think I'm going to look on eBay for a second hand bread maker this week...

fallfallfall · 07/11/2019 21:49

what are AC's? in my world it would be an air conditioner which does help with hot flushes and mood.

SunshineCake · 07/11/2019 21:58

Agnus Castus, fall.

cheesenpickles · 08/11/2019 08:01

0.9lb off this morning!

buzzofthebumblebee · 08/11/2019 08:03

Maintaining far better than putting on Mungo - so well done!

Steady loss for me since starting. Quite pleased, but wish it were coming off quicker! Need to dig deep this weekend to keep the will-power up

monday 28th Oct - 13 st 0.5
friday 1st Nov - 12 st 12.5
friday 8th Nov - 12 st 10 .75

SunshineCake · 08/11/2019 08:08

Well done cheesenpickles.

I'm so puzzled by the science.

This week I didn't weigh at all apart from one evening where I knew it would tell me a higher than real weight and yesterday. I have also eaten things I was intolerant too to see how I managed and have also had chocolate, chocolate peanuts and two bags of sweets. I am the same weight as last week. I am taking this as a positive due to the aforementioned things but I don't understand how I've not gone up, also due to the aforementioned things.

Any ideas??

Going to walk my dog now then taking her for her vaccinations so I'm not ignoring any replies, I'm out! Grin.

BustedDreams · 08/11/2019 09:03

Good Morning

@cheesenpickles great loss!

@buzzofthebumblebee fantastic steady progress!

@Mungomango I feel your pain. Keep going, it will happen!

@fallfallfall ok thank you.

Did anyone else see that programme How to lose Weight. It was advertised as losing a stone by Christmas but last night it was saying Lose it in a month 😮. Fast 800 came out top but it was the lowest calorie diet. The others were Huel, Raw and sugar free.

MrsJonesAndMe · 08/11/2019 10:30

Well done @cheesenpickles and @buzzofthebumblebee and never mind @Mungomango, you will get there!

I am 0.3lbs off 2 stone this morning! So since 30 July I have lost 27.7lbs. It would not have been possible without you ladies, so thank you Flowers

No idea @SunshineCake because I'm down this morning despite a box of chocolates yesterday and my period turning up Confused

Hope you're feeling a bit better @Foreverlexicon when do you have some time off again? Your job is a stressful one. Glad you have the horse for some much needed head space/exercise.

Freezing where I am, but grateful not to be flooded! Have a good day all.

fallfallfall · 08/11/2019 17:18

Weight slightly down .1 or .2, my body is always slow like this.
My carb heavy day is behind me I’ve had a couple good hilly walks.
Made split yellow pea soup yesterday at 200 cal per serving
Today I hope to make a light version of Italian wedding soup (390 cal per serving).
Although it’s gloomy weather today, no reason to not get in my steps.

Mungomango · 08/11/2019 19:13

Well done everyone's who lost this week, even a tiny loss is progress.

@fallfallfall slow and steady is the best way to go I reckon

@MrsJonesAndMe nearly two stone off, that's amazing! You must be thrilled

@SunshineCake Great that you've maintained despite the slips

I've just been for my first (very slow) run in about 6 weeks. It felt good to be out there, so will try and do another one or two this week. I'm also going to start doing 5 minutes of light weights in the evening. Right, now off to do some party planning (slightly concerned about how I'm going to entertain 20 kids at home!!)

Cathy31 · 08/11/2019 20:04

Well done everyone who is maintaining/ losing/ sticking to healthy choices!

Not the best day for me. I had a dreadful night with my DC, which is my excuse for having two hot chocolates today (one was a low cal instant with water though!), and eating a couple of chocolate sweets too... On the positive side, my meals were fine - I'm sure I got 4 portions of veg in. And I went for a long walk with baby in sling, despite the rain.

Tomorrow is a new day! I'm aiming for 5 veg and 2 fruit, and No chocolate in any form! I will report back!

MrsJonesAndMe · 09/11/2019 13:31

How is your day going @Cathy31?

I'm another 0.1kg down, so in the right direction though I overate quite a bit yesterday. Soup for lunch and stir fry for tea, so guessing that was enough of the right stuff. Today I've had soup and tonight is risotto. It's the snacking that's the downfall. Ravenous with period Angry

Hope you all have a good day. How are you feeling after the run @Mungomango?

fallfallfall · 09/11/2019 17:05

I hate it when the scales go up even a little despite decent food choices and exercise....
Possibly a result of yesterday’s hilly exercise.
Positive thoughts everyone.

Mungomango · 09/11/2019 19:06

@MrsJonesAndMe I felt pretty good after my run thanks. I'm doing a couch to 5k app so it's nice and gentle. I'd recommend it. I used to be a runner but over the last few years I've fallen out of the habit so just trying to get back on track.
