Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Wow, only 66 days until 2020. So much can be achieved in that time and we could be greeting the New Year with renewed optimism, feeling happier and somewhat healthier.

Yesterday wasn’t my best day but still weight loss territory. My crewmate bought me a cappuccino and I was given a free latte at a job so it would of been rude not to! And we were on an operation and there were car sweets. But I didn’t have many.

S - crisps
L - egg sandwich and 2 clementines
S - Apple, cappucino, latte, few sweets
D - chicken Waldorf salad
S - popcorn and 4 chocolate fingers

I’m calling it approx 1700 calories. Also rode and got my steps in

I’m moving onto nights tonight so I’m going to count per 24 hours rather than per my ‘day’ as it messes the figures up a bit and I think counting until midnight then resetting will just average it out a bit more. Going to go for a long ride and possibly a run so will be good on the exercise today.

Cathy31 · 06/11/2019 08:39

Morning everyone! Sunshinecake, sounds like you have a horrible bug! Or migraine? Hope a walk helps but try to get some rest too if you can!

My newborn had a hungry night so I didn't get much sleep but I feel great! Could that be because I didn't have any sugary foods yesterday? I thought it would take longer to feel the benefits?

Today DH and I are going Christmas shopping and out for lunch while DD1 is at nursery Smile Been looking forward to this day for a while so I'm not going to worry too much about calories at lunch - I've had a light breakfast and we'll be on our feet all day, and are going to a brunch type place so there should be plenty of healthy options. And anyway, I think enjoying the time with DH is just as important!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Btw, sorry but I can't figure out how to tag people in my posts Blush I belong in the last century

cheesenpickles · 06/11/2019 09:02

Morning! Had my soup last night but needed to top it up with more stock as my soup maker has a min fill point and it went all watery. Sob. I'm 0.5lb down this morning which is good. 2lbs and I'll be at my lowest point.

Suddenly got it stuck in my head I want to start making bread. My way of thinking is, I bloody love bread but if I have to make it myself it'll a) be a lot less hidden ingredients than shop bought and b) will require some effort so I'll savour it rather than eat it "just because.

Off to the fireworks tonight with the sprogs so dinner will likely come from a fast food van but hoping the walking (because driving to this display is an insane idea) will counteract the junk. Hope everybody has a good day!

BustedDreams · 06/11/2019 09:10

Good Morning Lovelies

It was like Beirut around here last night. The nearest neighbours had a display that was quite impressive and very very noisy. We stayed home as we have pets.

@fallfallfall that recipe looks delicious and as I have pumpkin in I’m going to try it! Thank you for sharing.

@DownUdderer what is this jiggery pockery you speak of? Every little helps Grin

@SunshineCake great to read you’re feeling better. Enjoy your walk.

@Foreverlexicon sounds like you had a great day! Well done on swerving the car sweets! Enjoy your ride laters.

@Cathy31 to tag type @ then directly after the @ type the name ... like this @Cathy31 . Hope you have a great time Christmas shopping, that’ll sure start to get you in the festive mood. I agree, quality time spent with family trumps everything else Smile

Hope everyone has a good day!

Morning @cheesenpickles sorry cross posted. I make my oh his bread in a Panasonic bread maker. He does prefer it to shop bought. As it’s fresh with no added preservatives it doesn’t keep so long. Freezes great though. Thumbs up to your drop on the scales.

Morning all. I love bread too, plus trying to low-carb, I try to avoid it. But saying that I've just had a slice of seeded toast, unbuttered, with 2 eggs for my breakfast. I did a big bootcamp workout this morning, dog walk after, so was v hungry, cold & tired. So justifying it to myself. Will stick to just veg soup later on, and veggie & prawn stirfry for dinner.

But despite my day of driving yesterday, I had managed to clock 8k steps (I forgot about the dog walk!) and I've dropped another 1lb overnight. So feeling good and positive. Long may it last!

SunshineCake · 06/11/2019 12:03

@cheesenpickles I have just made a loaf of fresh bread. Dinner is roast chicken, fresh bread for everyone else and wedges for me. It's a favourite dinner as substantial enough but bit the bigness of a roast.

Lovely long walk with my dog and then errands. I have another headache. Not long until my brain scan.

Really wanted to go and fangirl The Queen as she's visiting 15 minutes away but dh drive by a few minutes ago and said don't go as too busy.

Did anyone see the piece on gluten intolerances yesterday, think it was in This Morning. She was saying gluten isn't always the culprit and could be one of the other ingredients in the bread. They did a scientific test and while I can't remember all she said it sounded plausible. I know I react to shop bought fresh bread so I will have some home made fresh bread to see how I fare. All that is in it is flour, water, yeast, salt, sugar and lactose free butter.

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/11/2019 12:44

waves to all of you

I've just done DD's birthday shopping and chocolates for their advent calendar - I'm making up fill your own with a choc and something to do most days like paper chains, decoration kit, ice skating, panto tickets etc

@chutneypig I have a little list of things I know I must do and have them written down. On the topic of organisation, I already keep lists of everything, use a diary and calendar and sometimes when I struggle to get going I will set the oven buzzer on 20 minutes to get as much done as I can.

With all the chat about bread...I think that there's truth in the mass produced shop bought cr*p.

Hope you have a lovely day shopping @Cathy31, hope you feel better after some fresh air @sunshinecake and I think you did well under the circumstances @Foreverlexicon.

Catch up with you all later. Just sitting and digesting my soup Halo

BustedDreams · 06/11/2019 14:33

Yes I saw the piece about gluten intolerance @SunshineCake. I think it was aimed at people who have self diagnosed their gluten sensitivity.

My coeliac was diagnosed in the hospital when I was admitted with a stomach bleed. They said according to my records my GP had been informed the previous year after I’d had a blood test. However the GP never shared my diagnosis with me 😮

@MrsJonesAndMe I’ve just enjoyed my soup. It’s so comforting on damp cold days like today.

@buzzofthebumblebee well done!

buzzofthebumblebee · 06/11/2019 17:04

That is dreadful @BustedDreams - poor you. Hope you are in control of the condition now.

And I have just had soup too. Late lunch as I kept myself busy this afternoon. Out this evening, so will be distracted from food again.

fallfallfall · 06/11/2019 17:15

Soup really is a major key in helping me maintain/get to a healthier weight. I go out of my way to find tasty ones that list calories and serving sizes.

BustedDreams · 06/11/2019 17:44

@buzzofthebumblebee I’m ok as long as I keep away from gluten.

Coincidentally being coeliac is connected to low thyroid function too. Both are deemed auto immune diseases. I was surprised how many foods/drinks have gluten in such as beers & vinegars 😮. I always know when I’ve been glutened!

BustedDreams · 06/11/2019 17:45

Soup features almost daily for me @fallfallfall. It’s so satisfying 😋

OP posts:
fallfallfall · 06/11/2019 18:04

@BustedDreams I use 1tbsp of honey vs the agave or sugar, only the juice of 1 lemon and hold off on the water, based on the texture.

buzzofthebumblebee · 06/11/2019 18:07

Soup is brilliant - except when too greedy to wait for it to cool down before putting in the blender, then melting one of the melt-proof bits Wink Still, I managed to find a replacement part, and armed teen DS with necessary tools and a mission to repair for me Grin

Galvantula · 06/11/2019 21:31

@busteddreams that's rubbish about your diagnosis. I almost got the same for a more minor issue (my osteoarthritis) - I called up and got told X ray results normal. I was still sore so made another appointment for help and gp said "oh yes you have mild OA in both hips" 🙄 "That is normal for your age though..."

Still maintaining weight here. Approaching TOTM which explains why I've caved and snacked a bit the last week or so. Today has been ok though.

We also ❤️ our bread maker. The oldest 2 were bread/toast fiends as toddlers, so it was nice to give them home made bread!

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/11/2019 22:00

Urgh, also snacky and PMS-ey @galvantula Hmm

Gosh, @BustedDreams that sounds useless of them.

SunshineCake · 06/11/2019 22:24

I need input as to whether I should weigh tomorrow or Friday. I'm convinced I've put loads on but was due to weigh Friday.

fallfallfall · 07/11/2019 01:07

Sunshine will weighing in affect your food choices for Thursday?
If it can help motivate you to make careful choices tomorrow, weighing in might help. If you have a set plan and things are going at least fine then wait.
It's unlikely you've put on loads of weight, possibly heavier due to salt or water retention but not loads of weight.

DownUdderer · 07/11/2019 04:39

I’m wistfully picturing all of you in the northern hemisphere with cold weather! It’s a hot dry day in NSW today, the sky is blanketed with smoke. There are Bush fires up north and the smoke is everywhere, it is awful for everyone in the Bush fire areas, but it’s making my eyes dry. It’s weird I’ve never experienced this before.

I couldn’t be bothered to think about food today so I’ve just had weetbix for breakfast and lunch! I’ll have a proper dinner with veg I promise!

fallfallfall · 07/11/2019 05:19

horrible horrible food choice day....maybe not calorie wise (although i'm deluded i'm sure).
we had two dreadful summers of fire; 2017 and 2018. i can imagine what you are going through, hopefully they are under control soon.

cheesenpickles · 07/11/2019 07:11

0.1lb orf this morning and considering I demolished a bag of candy floss last night at the fireworks I think I got lucky. Grin

SunshineCake · 07/11/2019 07:15

Thank you fallfallfall.. My meals are planned for today and I will have them whatever the weight. I would just adjust portion size if need too and maybe watch the snacks as a I had a couple yesterday, normally it is one or none.

I'm going in...

SunshineCake · 07/11/2019 07:18

I'm the same !

I am happy about that but any tips for kick stating the loss again as I e been this weight for at least eight days ?

I tried leaning backwards but couldn't manage it!Grin

BustedDreams · 07/11/2019 07:20

Good Morning Ladies (I read on a thread yesterday that some mnetters don’t like that greeting. Can’t please everyone Grin

@fallfallfall is that honey & lemon in water? Hope you have a better day today.

@buzzofthebumblebee I think we all make our soup differently. I roast my veg in the oven, then into a pan with stock, then wizz up with a stick blender whilst still in the pan. I’ve read some people use a soup maker too.

@Galvantula sounds like you’ve been through the mill to health wise. Hope you’ve found some relief!

@DownUdderer hope you stay safe! Sounds terrible. Especially for those that have respiratory issues.

For those who are interested the programme Lose a Stone for Christmas is on C5 @ 20:00

Have a great day, stay safe, stay dry (torrential rain here)
