Lose in November

Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

You can do it @fallfallfall

Thanks @Mungomango I've tried it twice before but have decided I'm not a jogger/runner. Dodgy knees.

Galvantula · 09/11/2019 21:21

Also maintaining here. It ties in exactly with my MFP entries I think, so I wasn't surprised.

This is my MFP progress for the last 3 months though. Going the right way.

DH didn't buy a load of tempting snacks at the shops this week. I couldn't decide whether to be happy or disappointed 😁 Having some wine tonight but no beer and no snacks.

Almost the start of another new week... 💪💪

Have also had some wine this evening, but stopped at 2 glasses, and no snacks. So big progress. Actually, food going surprisingly well, have stopped obsessing about it, and also no longer nose-diving into the nearest bar of chocolate or packet of biscuits or crisps at the 1st sign of stress Grin But feeling a bit blugh. Eating less seems to have slowed my digestion to almost stop.Oh well. May brave a weigh in tomorrow.

saraclara · 09/11/2019 22:29

Do you mind if I join you? I'm not on an extensive weight loss journey, but I do need to lose the 7 pounds that I put on out of nowhere, due to a thyroid problem. I'm close to needing the next clothes size up (I'm only 5' 0" so there's not much space to spread 7lb), so the pressure's on. And though I'm now on thyroid medication, it's a very low dose yet, so I might be fighting my body hard, to lose this half a stone.
I'm only on day 5 so far.

DownUdderer · 10/11/2019 05:08

Welcome @saraclara everyone is lovely here :)

I’m finding it hard to plan what to eat while my parents are here for a visit. But I’m trying to at least eat good options or small portions. I have missed a few of my daily walks, but air quality was low and I couldn’t face it, the smoke made my eyes so dry. I really feel bad for any asthmatics. And it’s terrible that so many houses have been burned down. The fires are quite far away but the weather has caused the smoke to travel a long way.

I’m going for a hike tomorrow.

The scales aren’t shifting at the moment.

DownUdderer · 10/11/2019 05:09

Good luck everyone and I hope no one gets flooded.

fallfallfall · 10/11/2019 05:29

too much water in one spot and not enough in another :(. i hope it all balances out soon down.
meanwhile it was a gloomy grey day BUT i fit in a swim and a walk so as per my watch 790+ active calories.
i made soup for supper (Italian Wedding Soup) and dh figured our portion size made it a good 450 cals. 3 meals worth (6 portions) in the freezer.
i had pie for desert :( dh and i went to costco and i have a hard time saying no to his requests for treats when i impose my low cal meals on him as well.

Foreverlexicon · 10/11/2019 06:28

Not posted for a few days but I’m doing okay. I did have a bit of a binge after I wrote that last post. I didn’t manage to sleep much between my night shifts and just felt blergh but it wasn’t terrible.

Antidepressants are making me feel pretty sick so I haven’t eaten much the last few days although my choices still haven’t been great but I weighed myself and I’m 0.2 above the lightest I’ve been in well over a year so I’m pleased with that. I’d like to lose 7lb by Christmas as then I’ll be back to my comfort zone.

I hope these side effects wear off soon. I’ve been on them before and they did really help me, I only came off them 3 years ago because I had to for recruitment for my job. Now I’m in it doesn’t matter.

I’m on my rest days now, I went to see War Horse in theatre on Friday which was absolutely incredible! No idea what I’m going to eat today, gf is coming over and we’re both big on cooking so we’ll probably make something but she knows I’m losing weight so I’m sure we can pick something healthy.

cheesenpickles · 10/11/2019 07:27

Oh gosh. I'm so behind with everybody! Shock the bread went very very well. In fact so well I made pizza from scratch last night as well.

I'm still sticking to my intermittent fasting but the low carb thing proved a bit tricky. I think I can definitely skip pasta and potatoes but bread and cake is my downfall. All is not lost though because I weighed this morning and I'm actually the lowest I've been at 156.8lbs. I've been at the gym at least once a week (aiming for more but wfh and small kids, I have to be realistic) so all moving in the right direction.

Hope everybody is well xxx

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/11/2019 07:51

Welcome @saraclara I'm on Levo too.

Well done @Galvantula, @Foreverlexicon and @cheesenpickles

all about balance @fallfallfall and @DownUdderer

I'm hoping to get a good walk in today while the sun is out - off to a NT property. Ham and veg for tea. Happy Sunday and hope you all have a good day.

Cathy31 · 10/11/2019 15:37

Well done everyone, sounds like you're all doing so well!

@MrsJonesAndMe, thanks for asking. Yesterday wasn't good for me unfortunately. Had an argument with DH (can't even remember what it was about now Confused) and, probably because of the lack of sleep and hormones, I ended up crying and felt rubbish for the rest of the day. I don't eat much when I feel like that, but then once I finally cheered up I ^really broke my no chocolate rule. Oh well. Today has been much better - no chocolate, plenty of veg, and a lovely soup made for dinner. I'm weighing on Tuesday, don't expect to have lost but hopefully have maintained....

Hi @saraclara! I'm also around the 5ft mark so a small amount of weight shows quickly. Annoying, isn't it!

SunshineCake · 10/11/2019 19:44

Hi all

Sorry not to be replying. Struggling emotionally today. Too embarrassed to say what's up.

Weight was up 1.5lbs but I'm okay. Just plodding on.

MrsJonesAndMe · 10/11/2019 20:14

(((hugs))) @sunshinecake please don't feel embarrassed - though of course you don't need to if you don't want to, but we're here.

Oh no @Cathy31 DH and I rarely argue, so that's upsetting when it happens. Glad to hear today has been better.

Reasonable day here. Monday again Shock A busy and stressful week ahead with birthday cake and pizza...yikes!

Mungomango · 10/11/2019 20:40

hugs from me too @SunshineCake. I hope you get through whatever you're going through

Welcome @saraclara! I'm a shortie too at 5'3'' and it's so annoying that every little pound shows

@DownUdderer are you in the Sydney region? The fires look horrific. Stay safe.

@mrsjones (can't tag you for some reason) your birthday or someone elses? Good luck with your stressful week

I got a nasty shock this morning.. I'm up 2 lbs! I can't believe it. I did drink wine every evening over the weekend but not to excess. I also had some cake and biscuits as it was DD's party, but again nothing too bad. I'm hoping it's just a glitch and I'm going to use it as motivation to try harder this week! I've cut up carrots and cucumber and that's going to be it for my snacks over the next few days.

Soup for lunch and bean chilli for dinner, yum!

BustedDreams · 11/11/2019 06:38

Just a quick post. Hope you all had a great weekend. Not posted for a couple of days so had a catch up and read up about everyone’s progress. Fabulous progress being made.

Here’s to another great week!

buzzofthebumblebee · 11/11/2019 16:19

I didn't weigh in this morning as I didn't want the shock of a gain, as this would be de-motivating & send me off the clean-eating path. I know it would partly be due to TMI digestive bloat Blush but also as I had proper food and large portions yesterday - shepherds pie & apple crumble, with wine. All home made. So hard to entertain and feed everyone else then cut back myself. So I didn't : (
Fresh start today.
Hope you loose your shock gain swiftly @Mungomango, & everyone else continue to do well

So many little things and big things affect our appetite.
Weight is same within .2
Somehow I sense a lack of veg in the diet, too much white comfort starch. It’s chilly here and I know shepherds pie will be on the menu very soon.
I’ll add a salad to tonight’s mix and cut back on the mashed potatoes.

Mungomango · 11/11/2019 18:53

Thanks @buzzofthebumblebee . So hard when you're entertaining. Each day we have to start afresh. I accidentally ate some choccies and cake yesterday Blush

I'm still weighing the same but hopefully it will drop off soon. I've started the day with a YouTube workout and I'm feeling energised!

@fallfallfall I crave comfort starchy food in cold weather too. Upping the veggies sounds like a good idea though. I'm trying to do the same too

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/11/2019 21:04

Becoming a mum to a teenager @Mungomango Shock

I too have had too much of the munchies, but I've tried to keep up with tablets, yoga, water and eating some good stuff too. Weight has gone up a bit over the last few days, but 5 days of spotting and still waiting for period Hmm

Waves to all and hope all OK @Foreverlexicon and @BustedDreams

DownUdderer · 11/11/2019 23:46

Hi guys. Keep on keeping on!

We’re in a bush fire prone area, so I’m on high alert today. So far no fires are near us and hopefully the day goes by without any. The temperature is high today so the fire service is extremely worried. I’m being sensible.

I’ve lost a pound this morning and I’m so so happy!

cheesenpickles · 12/11/2019 07:18

Oh wow @DownUdderer! Hope you're ok and nothing happens in your area.

The scales are down 0.8lbs this morning and my BMI is 25.3. SO CLOSE!

Galvantula · 12/11/2019 09:29

Argh I just typed a whole message and lost it. Can't remember it all 🙈🙈

Hope you're feeling better @SunshineCake.

And hope it stays ok in your area @DownUdderer. 😯

MrsJones eek a teenager! I'm actually scared that I'll have my own one in a few years...

My scales hit 60kg/9st 6 today. :) Hoping to keep this downward trend going.

I'm at home this week so have attempted to have healthier stuff and only miniscule sweet snacks around to stay on track...

That plus all the walks up and down to school and nursery should help! 💪💪

MrsJonesAndMe · 12/11/2019 13:07

Hello all

Well my busiest day and Aunt Flo has shown up Hmm I've just decided to go with things today as I have to get through and worry about things again tomorrow.

Stay safe @DownUdderer and well done on the loss.

Eek, @cheesenpickles that's close!

It's scary how time has flown by @Galvantula but all you can do is keep looking forwards. Thankfully no obvious interest in boys or make up yet Wonder if it will appear overnight!

Have a good day all.

Cathy31 · 12/11/2019 13:20

Stay safe @DownUdderer!

Amazingly, I've lost a very tiny bit this week, despite some pretty bad days. It's really motivated me to try harder, as it makes my goal by Christmas seem more attainable with a bit more consistent healthy eating.

Hope everyone is feeling ok today!
