Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

I love my Alexa, I use it a lot for playing music, timers etc but also saying goodnight to my kids when they’re in bed (I work away in the week).

Yesterday was pretty good in the end and I lost a fair bites morning, so at least yesterday’s high must have been water retention. I’m keeping a very detailed food diary to see if I can find what’s causing my bloating issues. I feel much better for cutting out the milk but there’s still something there. I had a meeting cancelled so managed a walk at lunch and got my 10000 in - felt so much better for it,

Do you have much in the way of protein at lunch @Cathy31? I find that helps head off the mid afternoon slump.

I’m really relying on my soup maker at the moment @cheesenpickles. So handy for lunches for the week. Got any good recipes?

Glad you got out for a ride @Foreverlexicon. Veg seems to be the first thing to go for me when I’m tired or in a rush.

AreYouSiriusLupin · 05/11/2019 07:51

Hope everyone is well this morning!

A good couple of days for me calorie wise. Just need to try and get some exercise in.

cheesenpickles · 05/11/2019 08:00

I love my Alexa. We use it for music but also doing the lights, adding things to the shopping basket and and controlling the heating. One of my fave skills is Tomato Helper which is basically a Pomodoro Timer. So I can focus on working of a specific task for 25 mins with 5 minute breaks. It's helped hugely with working from home. It can do loads more though.

DownUdderer · 05/11/2019 09:20

I’ve just had a lovely walk. I’m tired now, maybe I’ll try and have an early night tonight. I have eaten well the last two days. I’m in a mini plateau though.

BustedDreams · 05/11/2019 09:53

Good Morning

I had a good day yesterday until oh passed me a couple of fruit pastels and i unconsciously put them in my mouth ... btw they were delicious. I didn’t have my planned Greek yoghurt so won’t have gone over cals. I hardly ever have sweets, apart from dark chocolate on occasion.

I know I’m pre diabetes and need to get my mid section down. It is so much harder as an older person but I won’t give up. I’d be much heavier if I wasn’t mindful so all is not lost. I need to up the exercise! Sugar intake/insulin regulation is so closely entwined. Sugar is the devil 👿.

Benefits of reducing sugar.

Guide to sugar.

Today is roast veg & mixed bean soup. Tray bake with chicken legs and veggies. Greek yoghurt. Lemon water, white tea and I coffee with cream.

Great to read about all your progress 👏🏅🌟

Oo @cheesenpickles I'm going to look into tomato helper. I used Pomodoro successfully when studying for my exam earlier this year. Maybe I can apply it to getting stuff done in the house! 😁

Currently resisting dessert in the work canteen... My colleague had some and it looked good.

cheesenpickles · 05/11/2019 13:12

This is tonight's soup with an olive bloomer from Tesco. www.recipethis.com/soup-maker-cream-of-broccoli-soup/

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/11/2019 14:03

Hi all

I've made it back to my lowest weight in probably 5 years which I was at before the slew of illness and stuff breaking at half term Hmm So the only way is down now. BMI 23.8 Huzzah! Smile

Today's a bit of a funny day as we can't all eat together due to after school stuff, so I got myself a Thai curry meal for lunch. Had 5 bits of chicken and 3 green beans - Tesco Extra Special meals, I'm looking at you!

Tea will be a jacket with ham and cheese and salad. May have indulged in a rather large hot choc and some chocolate on top Blush

Keep going all of you!

BustedDreams · 05/11/2019 15:28

Looks awesome @cheesenpickles 😋

Tomato Helper? Pomodora? Are these known things or have I been living under a rock Grin

Off to google ........ zoooooooom

I’ve started this Thread I’ve created it to run alongside the programme ‘Lose a Stone for Christmas’.

Every bit helps Grin

It's a technique for productivity where you focus solely on one action or task (or lots of little ones, one at a time) for 25 mins then have a 5 min break. Makes it so you have enough time to get into a project but the breaks stop you from getting bored or distracted etc.

BustedDreams · 05/11/2019 16:11

Thank you @cheesenpickles ... sounds very useful!

Thanks so much for the tips everyone! These are really helpful. I've gone without a sweet snack all day (so far...) Didn't manage to get out for a walk today but am planning a day in town tomorrow to get started on Christmas shopping, so will be on my feet all day. And I weighed myself this morning - just under a kg lost in the past week! 6kg to go. I'd love to get there by Christmas...

Hope everyone has a good evening!

BustedDreams · 05/11/2019 16:22

That’s great to hear @Cathy31! Well done on swerving the snack too!

MrsJonesAndMe · 05/11/2019 17:30

great stuff @Cathy31

Mungomango · 05/11/2019 18:32

I'm going to try the pomodoro timer, that sounds good. Well done @Cathy31 on dodging the snacks Smile

Today's menu:
Porridge with berries
Pasta and salad for lunch
Poached eggs for tea (DH is away so I can get away without cooking Grin)
Snacks: decaf coffee with almond milk, dark chocolate and fruit

I did 20 minutes of gentle yoga this morning and my back feels better already.

Have a nice evening everyone x

chutneypig · 05/11/2019 20:06

That recipe looks delicious @cheesenpickles. Thanks!

I might give that tomato thing a go too. I’ve got a few less meetings next week so could do with some focussed effort on tasks I need to get done.

I did pretty well for a conference day today food wise and drank plenty of water. I even walked two miles across London to get from the station to the venue and get my steps in.

buzzofthebumblebee · 05/11/2019 20:17

Doing well everyone. And at your lowest weight in 5 yrs MrsJones? That's great. My day started well with another 1lb off - so 3 since last monday. But was very sedentary, lots of driving between work meetings, & lunch on the go. So feel a blugh this evening. Am not normal so inactive. 1 fish cake, broccoli and roast veg for dinner.

1 stone by Christmas Busted - might have a look at that thread. Are you seriously going for it? I would love to join too, & I certainly need to shift a stone pdq, but doubtful if I have the will power. Hmmm. Food for thought!

SunshineCake · 05/11/2019 21:40

Hi everyone

Such a busy day. In bed now feeling very unwell. Have taken heavy duty pain killer as have head ache, back pain and feel like I might faint.

B - banana
2nd B - left over mash and cheese
L - Ryvita and taramasalata
Snack - cake
D - GF pasta with bolognese
Other food - toast, Swiss roll again, 2 squares of rum and raisin chocolate.

Also weighed myself tonight.

Sleep needed.

Mungomango · 05/11/2019 21:58

Sleep well @SunshineCake, hope you feel better tomorrow

BustedDreams · 05/11/2019 22:28

Stayed on plan today. Kitchen cleaned & closed 18:30. Only drinks thereafter.

@MrsJonesAndMe Congratulations on your new weight! Awesome progress! I have BMI envy. 23.8 is pretty perfect.

@Mungomango I try to fit in a few poses each day of yoga. I find it great or my back.

@chutneypig it seems you made the best of things today. Well done on getting your steps in!

@buzzofthebumblebee I’m trying to be on point with my eating but without depriving myself. Aim high and I might make half way Grin

@SunshineCake hope you feel better come the morning.

Enjoy your evening/sleep.

Small steak and small baked potato for supper.
Getting back on track today literally at the university as well as the pool.
As suspected swimming was hard on my hand.
730 move calories
Made an amazing pumpkin stew!

DownUdderer · 06/11/2019 06:31

I am hoping for a pound off tomorrow! Sometimes if I lean back the scales show much better numbers! So on occasion I lean back just to see great numbers!

MrsJonesAndMe · 06/11/2019 06:44

Good morning all, hope you're feeling better today @SunshineCake

Sounds restrained @fallfallfall

Fingers crossed @downudder

Thanks @BustedDreams and @buzzofthebumblebee I'm chuffed. Now I need to cement these healthy eating habits. It's still not habit. Why is it so easy to fall into bad ones???

Have a good day all!

chutneypig · 06/11/2019 06:57

Do you like lists or journaling type things @MrsJonesAndMe? I find them great to keep me on track on the habit front. I reckon it’ll be easier now you’re at your lowest weight. I’ve been hovering at mine, with loss slow but I’m finding it a lot easier in the last weeks to a avoid slipping back. Something around knowing how much effort has gone into getting here.

Hope a nights sleep has helped @SunshineCake

I hate days like that @buzzofthebumblebee, makes me feel so sluggish.

That’s a great (and early) start @fallfallfall

Well done on the on plan day @BustedDreams

I had to smile at the scales balancing @DownUdderer!

I’m going to fit in a run before work today, otherwise meetings galore. Scales good this morning and I feel good in myself too.

SunshineCake · 06/11/2019 07:40

Morning all

Thank you for the good wishes. Apart from an initial headache and feeling like I might be sick I feel better. Having a couple of Ryvitas with houmous before I walk the dog in case I'm out longer than usual as already felt a bit faint.

@fallfallfall I hope your hand isn't too achey today. Have you checked your houmous against the recalled ones? Initially it was 23 but is now over 80 flavours/brands.

@DownUdderer Grin great plan! Hope you got the numbers you want. My weigh in is Friday so I might try it. Last nights didn't count as heavier in the evening. Don't know why I did really, think just to make sure tonnes hadn't gone on.

@MrsJonesAndMe Star.

Lovely to read you are feeling good in yourself, @chutneypig.
