Lose in November

Following on from the previous monthly loss threads, here’s November’s thread. I’ve omitted goal specifics of a certain number of lbs because as we’ve seen we are losing at different rates or maintaining. We need to create our own eating plan that is sustainable, enjoyable and provides all the nutrients we need to be healthy. It isn’t about extremes.

These threads are becoming quite holistic in nature and offer support to enable everyone to build & maintain emotional resilience and good mental health which undoubtedly underpins healthy eating habits and lifestyle. That said, we mustn’t forget we are human and with that comes fallibility ..... It’s at those times the support on these threads is second to none. The support I’ve seen on these threads (and personally benefitted from 🙏) is awesome. I’ve not once seen any unkind or harsh posts. You’ve all been awesome 👏.

Wow, only 66 days until 2020. So much can be achieved in that time and we could be greeting the New Year with renewed optimism, feeling happier and somewhat healthier.

OP posts:
Mungomango · 15/11/2019 21:11

Ups and downs tbh but trying to focus on the positives. I'm trying to get fit as well as lose weight so my aim is to be able to run 5kms by mid December.

BustedDreams · 15/11/2019 21:20

That’s a healthy positive goal @Mungomango!

My thyroid meds have recently been increased and the6 are playing Merry hell with appetite and water retention. You just have to koko. Hope you ups outnumber the downs!

Mungomango · 15/11/2019 21:32

Good luck with the meds Busted, that must be tough. Hope you get on top of the side effects as much as you can.

cheesenpickles · 16/11/2019 08:03

My weight is really staying solid right now and tbh I'm not surprised. My work involves a lot of food and ramps up this time of year so I've been to all sorts of food things this week and more to go. I'm still weighing and trying to stick to it where possible but think I may have to just keep a check on it and put a pin in getting the scales down for a few weeks. However I'm not gaining weight and I'm being active which is way more than I was doing this time last year.

Don't worry I'll still keep checking in though. Not totally falling off the wagon!

BustedDreams · 16/11/2019 09:28

Nice to see you @cheesenpickles. Yes i agree it can be so difficult around this time of year. Even though I tell friends and family about my endeavours to lose the flab they still offer/impose treats. For example the other night my oh made me a Baileys Latte. I was sat in the sitting room in front of the fire and he said all I needed was a drink! I was too polite to refuse (wouldn’t want to hurt his feelings) I will admit it was rather delicious but will have busted my calorie count for the day out the water. I have been on point too. Then my friend visited yesterday and brought home made cupcakes. I did manage to swerve by saying I’d just eaten and would have later. Food is so ingrained in the culture of love & nurture.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Paperwork for me!

How about your OH hurting your desire to stay within calories ? It can't be just one way.

I'm struggling emotionally today and think I'm eating because I'm sad not because I am hungry.

MrsJonesAndMe · 16/11/2019 21:55

Hi all, just a quick check in after party day. Consumed too many of the wrong things.

Tomorrow is a new day.

SunshineCake · 16/11/2019 22:31

Indeed, MrsJones.

Any clue to how I can quick start losing again? I haven't lost anything much in a fortnight.

DownUdderer · 17/11/2019 00:33

I think during cold and dark English winter months it’s hard work trying to stick to good eating plans. Like you’ve said people are trying to be kind and offering food. I’m on the beach at the moment in Australian summer, I’m not sure what I’ll have for lunch because I didn’t plan ahead.

I’ve lost a pound this morning, that’s 5 pounds off for November. I’m extremely happy with that. Ona busy day I can seem to have an unplanned fast day and that seems to help loose weight as long as it’s followed up with a day of proper eating. I walk as much as I can each day, I’m always trying to get my 10k steps.

fallfallfall · 17/11/2019 05:09

oh wow down i'd love to loose 5 or even loose my appetite for the occasional meal.
the cold weather has me nibbling.
however, on the plus side, my exercise has increased.
i need to log the food and face the calories :(
positive thoughts everyone for a peaceful sunday.

Galvantula · 17/11/2019 06:49

Morning all. V sleepy me checking in today as oldest and youngest DC both had a sick bug overnight. So tired 😓😓😓

Just hoping 3rd one doesn't come down with it too. 😷

Still hovering around 60kg here.

BustedDreams · 17/11/2019 11:40

Good morning

I don’t know ifs it’s mn or my iPad but just lost a post and now typing is really difficult & slow. Letters not typing and freezing up and stuff.

@SunshineCake sorry o hear you’re sad. Is there anyone in rl who you can share how you feel with. It might help. Keep posting here to we will all listen if you want to share.

Lovely to read people are losing! Really inspiring.

I feel I’m letting the side down. Believe it or not I’ve gained half a stone since 28 th October 😢😢😢. Pre diabetes, under active thyroid and water retention to blame. The treats I’ve had in that time I can count on one hand and in themselves would not weigh that on the scale. My average weekly calories are around the 7500 mark. If I wasn’t eating the way I do I’d be much much heavier. Not good when barely 5ft. Anyway I’m not getting too despondent about it and will just carry on.

Have a great Sunday! I’m just going to light the fire and read my Sunday papers whilst the chicken roasts in the oven. 😊

Hi @BustedDreams I can talk to dh but sometimes it is hard. I feel I am losing my way a bit as I haven't lost anything in two weeks and I kept eating things I am intolerant too and while the symptoms are not too bad, and I am not putting weight on, I am not losing anything either.

Foreverlexicon · 17/11/2019 16:31

I’ve been awol and eating everything for like the last 10 days.

Not sure why, I think I need to get off the sugar as it gives me such bad cravings for more. One more night shift before I’m off so I’m back on the wagon as off now.

I need to do a big food shop tomorrow and will make a healthy meal plan and fight through the sugar cravings! I really want to make some headway before Christmas.

Galvantula · 17/11/2019 16:50

Aw @BustedDreams and @SunshineCake. I think having lots going on makes it harder to lose for sure. Well all get back on it some time!

I have been snacking with intent today after my zero sleep night. Blush

Eldest has bounced back since above post, but poor 4yo is still sick :( She's being v brave though.

Hope your shopping goes well Forever!

MrsJonesAndMe · 17/11/2019 18:03

Hi all

Sending (((hugs))) your way @SunshineCake and for you @BustedDreams because you really don't deserve that gain!

Hope that the children are better and the middle one escapes @Galvantula

Back on it @Foreverlexicon

I must get back on it too - despite my weight being OK at the moment, I look decidedly pregnant from having processed stuff/gluten and fizzy drinks. It really is hard in the cold and dark isn't it?! Angry

fallfallfall · 17/11/2019 18:15

I’m starting the day a touch angry, disappointed, pissed off at myself and dh....
Details to follow, heading to the indoor track and pool.

BustedDreams · 17/11/2019 18:22

Thank you for the good wishes and empathy.

The attached photo popped up on my Insta. It states the obvious, but I for one need constant reminders of how I can do better. More water, not enough sleep or exercise, stress ... it all adds up.

Enjoyed my roast chicken dinner. 100g roast chicken and about 450g of veg including fine beans, Brussels sprouts, leeks and garden peas. Small amount of creamy sauce. All lot came in at 597 calories. Yummy.

I am going to start weighing daily as I need to keep track of the gains. Fingers crossed I’m not heavier tomorrow. I’d settle for staying the same rather than see further gains.

Enjoy your evening :)

I've got a really bad headache. Any ideas as would rather not take paracetamol as taken a lot this week.

BustedDreams · 17/11/2019 18:58

Water @SunshineCake? Sometimes headaches can be because of dehydration. If you’ve had a lot of headaches and taken lots of doses of meds that can bring on rebound headaches. Also pain relief usually brings on constipation too :(

Are you able to go and lay down for a bit? Hope you feel better soon!

OP posts:
SunshineCake · 17/11/2019 19:27

I'm drinking as much as I can but feel it has been less than usual today. It has been 2-3 days nice I've had any pain relief. I just don't know why I have a headache, normally I can hazard a guess.

I'm watching strictly and might have an early night. Busy busy week.

SunshineCake · 17/11/2019 19:28

Since*

The pain relief was for my back/hip.

Mungomango · 17/11/2019 20:41

Like that Insta pic @BustedDreams. I'm guilty of quite a few of those!

Hope the headache has eased up @SunshineCake.

I've had a mixed weekend here.. too much wine and chocolate (oops) but did manage two short runs so hopefully the two offset each other. I got on the scales this morning and haven't gained so that's good. Soup for lunch today and sausage pasta (with lots of veg for me) for dinner. Comfort food as the weather is cold and rainy today!

Have a good Sunday night/Monday everyone!
