Desperately need to lose this weight. I can't use the excuse of I've just had a baby because DS will 5 in November!! 4 years ago I only needed to lose 1.5 stone, now it's 2.5. Would like to do something along the lines of low fat/low calorie diet, with exercise 3 or 4 times per week, but really do need a bit of support, as I tend to weaken very easily....

Would anyone like to join me, with a weekly weigh-in, day to day support etc?

Thank you for your welcome Thunderpants!

I have managed to resist so far and found something interesting to do at work to keep my mind off food!

So how do you know about how many calories you should eat to maintain your weight and how many to eat to lose weight? Is it from Lizzombie's closerdiets web site?

And how often are you going to weigh yourself?

It is so lovely to talk about this to someone. My H is useless, just gets takeaways all the time!

yesterday i didn't feel very well. Felt very dizzy. had a poached egg and half a tin of beans on one piece of toast for lunch. last night we all had spaghetti bolognese with grated cheese and garlic bread. I only had a small plate of it with no cheese and no garlic bread. was starving by 8pm so had a very small bowl of porridge.

This morning, shredded wheat and a cup of tea. wasn't so hungry. not sure if it was because of the porridge last night?

feeling really down in the dumps today. don't know why. finding it hard not to comfort eat.

Scoobi6 · 15/08/2007 11:05

poor you angelwithin

feeling dizzy is not good surely, do you need to eat just a little bit more? or more often?

Leander · 15/08/2007 11:15

Morning all, So far so good, Like i said i really struggle when i am at work but i was good last night and had a chicken salad on my break all be it with a little drop of caesar dressing but not too bad.We has a drawer stashed wth sweets and i resisted the temptation(how strong am i )and when I got home i didnt have anything just a drink and then bed.

Leander · 15/08/2007 11:29

Angel, sorry you are feeling low Agree with scoobi that you should maybe be eating more, try having a banana to boost your sugar levels or maybe caramel snackajacks.

Leander · 15/08/2007 11:31

Bogwitch I think we agreed oweigh ourselves just once a week on a monday morning.

missgriss · 15/08/2007 13:32

Hi all

I buckled this morning and had a bar of Galaxy for breakfast

I've had a smoothie and a fruit salad since then, in a desperate attempt to make myself look good

I've not done much excercise this week either, as I don't get home until 9.30pm however today is my Friday so as from tomorrow I shall be on my excercise bike cycling by butt off

mazzystar · 15/08/2007 13:54

sorry you are feeling down angel

food like blueberries and seeds are good as snacks and i vaguely recall reading somewhere that they have mood-enhancing effects. and so does exercise, counter-intuitive as it seems.

feeling quite cheery today, have been trying on some clothes and - already after two and a half weeks - things fit me again, waist is deffo smaller. will take some time to erode these thighs of mine but it has given me hope. am yet to shift my ample bum today as babystar is poorly and its raining here.

gold star for strength of will leander.....!

PatsyCline · 15/08/2007 14:00

OK, just forced myself out of the kitchen so that I can't do my daily bread binge. My DDs drove me insane on the way back up the (very large) hill to our house - lots of moaning, but it was a good, hard walk.

I also got a Tai Chi video from the library (I can't face vigerous exercise at the moment and need to chill out more).

I know this will sound silly, but I took a few moments this morning to stop and think about today and what I wanted it to be like food wise and that seems to be helping!

whompingwillowinthedewmeadow · 15/08/2007 14:03

can I join in? Ive 2.5 stone to lose, but Ive a baby of 4 weeks and a DD of 3 and DS of 1, so cant exercise yet as much as I want too. Also, had a Cs so building it up. However going walking whenI can and want to do my yogalates DVD but at night Im just too tired!!

Afriad to start dieting as moods up anmd down and then I just want chocolate, BUT really want to.

going to break snacking on biccies habit and try to eat lowfat and healthily.

luckylady74 · 15/08/2007 14:08

hi all, just been to shops and spent 4.50 on 2 huge bags of fruit and veg from grocers -so much cheaper than supermarket and me and kids are gorging on fresh apricots - this is a nice part of going on a diet!
i think i'm finding protein fills me up for longer, but good carbs eg bagel/ banana is making me feel happier - does this make sense? i want to be aware of this so i can stop eating crap that makes me feel bad.
everyones being very good - keep inspiring me - roll on next monday and 2lbs at least please!

Thunderpants · 15/08/2007 14:11

Bogwitch - my DP is hopeless too. Fat as a fool and not even slightly bothered by it! I went to weight loss resources, which has a 3-day free trial and found out there. It's really good, and they don't bombard you with emails or anything, just good honest help. Someone on here suggested another site too, which I was just about to look for, as I want to look up calories in rhubarb. It is really hard to do this alone isn't it? I'm not really a joiner-inner but when I gave up smoking I found an online support group was invaluable, and I know I couldn't have done it without all the support I got from them. 6.5 years on, and instead of smoking I've gone for eating instead! Good luck. I'm planning to check in here on a daily basis. (I can't eat while I'm typing you see )

hi whomping - your body is still recovering and especially if youre breastfeeding n- even if you're not i'd go forgood fats rather than no fats and remember your body has done an amazing thing - 3 children - look after it gently and don't starve it

Scoobi6 · 15/08/2007 14:25

1, 3 and 4 weeks - blimey whomping its a wonder you find time to eat at all

Take it easy, you must still be recovering from the cs and getting used to having 3 lo to take care of

Scoobi6 · 15/08/2007 14:27

Today I brought to work:

Big bag of apples
Big bag of bananas
Muesli
Little packets of raisins, dried apricots etc

Determined to break my snacking on crisps and choccy at work habit!

bogwitch · 15/08/2007 14:42

Right going to refuse to eat takeaways that H always buys instead of proper meals - he can be fat on his own - lol!

Will try to be good tonight, I keep eating bad things just before bed so I will try to be strong.

Having this support is making me stronger by far than doing it on my own.

Today I have had: Apple, grapes, tin of low cal soup, roll, Weight Watchers Lemon & Ginger biscuits (which I absolutely love) and drinks of tea and coffee.

Sounds loads but much better than yesterday!

whompingwillowinthedewmeadow · 15/08/2007 19:46

theres always time to fit in eating!!

Bogwitch -thats fantastic - you're putting me to shame! v healthy - well done!!

fedda · 15/08/2007 21:39

I've tried my best today but after eating so many apples, strawberries, prunes and dried apricotes I feel really bloated. I had fish as well and mach pots, I'm afraid. At the moment i feel hungry and it's on going problem. I love snacking when everyone is in bad and I can relax at last, I can't face any fruit now!

Bubble99 · 15/08/2007 21:58

Evening all.

I am finding that I want to eat savoury foods for breakfast, rather than cereal.

Today I've had

Crumpet (no butter ) and marmite, cup of coffee with skimmed milk ( still can't quite bring myself to open that carton of soya milk )

Mid morning - quarter of a tub of low fat hummus with carrot sticks and a big glass of water

Lunch - Half a carton of minestrone soup and, an hour later,

...a load of the DCs' chips.

Met up with a friend and her DCs, went out for lunch and....oh well, you know how it goes.

Afternoon. Cup of tea and one small kitkat.....er.....plus a breakaway biscuit.

Tonight...Grilled chicken breast with a big salad.

What have you all been having for brekky? That's the crucial meal for me as it can all go downhill very quickly if I nosedive into the toast and butter.

luckylady74 · 15/08/2007 22:05

hi bubble, i have fruit and low fat greek yoghurt or today i had a raisin bagel - no butter because it's like a cake really! have you tried something like scrambled egg or beans on toast or oats to really keep you going - i like a banana on toast.

Bubble99 · 15/08/2007 22:09

Scrambled eggs sounds good. I don't really feel full after sweet stuff, including fruit. Even if the amount is the same.

bogwitch · 16/08/2007 09:06

Well after being so good during the day H gets fish and chips for dinner... what a prat.

Couldn't refuse really cos DD was starving and he hadn't even prepared anything else, grrrrr. Only had about half the portion of chips and ate all the fish but only a bit of the batter.

Trying to be good again today.

Breakfasts are difficult cos I don't really do breakfast. Tried Special K but a bit boring and still hungry afterwards. How about porridge Bubble? Good filler and a nice savoury taste if you don't add anything.

Bubble99 · 16/08/2007 09:20

bogwitch. I've just had a big bowl of home-made lentil and vegetable soup.

bogwitch · 16/08/2007 09:26

Bubble - fantastic breakfast!

We are breaking boundaries here people - lol!!

Leander · 16/08/2007 10:50

soup for breakfast whatever floats your boat.
seriously if soup works for you then go for it, who says we have to have cereal for breakfast soup for lunch etc we should have what we want when we want within reason of course, If ds heard me say that he would be asking for Tuna butties at 7am
I am giving back my gold star. Some noddy in work had bought huge choc buttons and i am sorry to say i caved and ate a few well loads really, and i was starving when i got home from work so had a tuna buttie, But i had forced myself to eat Salmon for tea with broccoli and 3 tiny baby boiled spuds.
