Desperately need to lose this weight. I can't use the excuse of I've just had a baby because DS will 5 in November!! 4 years ago I only needed to lose 1.5 stone, now it's 2.5. Would like to do something along the lines of low fat/low calorie diet, with exercise 3 or 4 times per week, but really do need a bit of support, as I tend to weaken very easily....

Would anyone like to join me, with a weekly weigh-in, day to day support etc?

Hi, everyone. I decided to use the idea of 10/10 thread which is eating 10 portions pf fruit and veg + at least 10 minites excersise but I don't like their thread (sorry if anybody from 10/10 club is reading it). I think our thread is really good so I'll stay here and just borrow the idea of 10/10 which I think is totally genious. I don't feel hungry today as i eat when I want to little fruit, veg. salad + small amount of food, I hope shop bought 4 fish fingers is okay to have for lunch with tomato salad and tomato juice. How is everyone? Please, don't give up even if you have bad days, okay? I need you.

Thunderpants · 18/08/2007 17:06

Fedda I think everyone's hiding, having over-indulged last night! I'm planning on a (home-made) curry tonight. Won't been swimming in grease like a takeaway, but never mind, it'll still be spicy. bought fresh coriander to put on the top... it's making my mouth water as I'm starting to get a bit peckish. don't know if i'll manage to wait 'til dp gets home at 7.30. Thunderpants, enjoy it. I love curry! I'm going to have fish with green beans and boiled potatoes. We are going to try potatoes with a pinch of safron - my DH saw it in a cookery programme and he liked the look of pots.

whompingwillowinthedewmeadow · 18/08/2007 17:16

fedda - what is the 10/10 theory? Do you only eat fruit and veg?

luckylady74 · 18/08/2007 19:04

it all went horribly wrong last night after my smug mcd post! i've not stopped eating since - no excuses!it'll be a minor miracle if i've not gained weight.

slayerette · 18/08/2007 22:31

Had a roast lunch today with rhubarb crumble and icecream dessert but it was so tasty - one nice meal a week won't ruin everything will it?

Fingers crossed for Monday morning...

fedda · 19/08/2007 12:43

I wish 10/ 10 was my idea. I don't know who came to the idea first but: Coutressy of 3andnomore
'The basic idea is to get 10 portions of fruit and veg into yourself each day (or try anyway) and 10 minutes exercise!
Exercise wise, well, other then the past 2 days I am usually really "good" and do about 1h worth of exercise DVD...like Nell McAndres, Davinas, Tae Bo...so, I personally usually choose to do more then 10 minutes, but I generally enjoy doing exercise DVD's.'
You can find a very long thread about it on Health and it's called something like pears and apples 10/10 thread. Sorry, I can't do links. the thread is too long for me but the idea is brilliant so I think I'll try eat even though they say it's not specifically for loosing weight. if I cut out all the rubbish food, eat more veg and fruit and exersise + eat normal portions, not too big of the food i like I hope I'll get slimmer. well, i hope.

Here is the proper name of the thread:

I'm here!

Managed to avoid my usual wine-fest on Friday and/or Saturday night.

Has anyone else noticed feeling less hungry?
I'm finding that I'm not starving all the time and that my three meals plus a couple of snacks are enough.

Still can't face anything sweet for breakfast. This morning it was a bowl of minestrone soup.

Thunderpants · 19/08/2007 15:55

omg - i've lost 5lbs! can't believe it, i was hoping for 1, possibly 2, but 5! I'm delighted that I've managed to stick with it all week, without going off the rails, and i'm sure it's down to this thread. knowing there's lots of us trying to do the same thing really does help. won't be back 'til thursday, so hope everyone's weigh-ins go well, x

Fantastic, Thunderpants!

That is such a great start.

See you when you get back and, keep it up.

Slouchy · 19/08/2007 19:27

I'm here! Very of people who have lost 5 lbs or more. I'll be lucky if I make 2 I think. Grrr. But have got PMT so got bit of fluid retention + need to eat lots of sugar!
(Its ricepuddingpaddington with new name)

whompingwillowinthedewmeadow · 19/08/2007 19:27

congrats thunderpants - thats brill!!

fedda - do you eat anything ese? meat, cheese, cereal, pasta, etc??

Lizzzombie · 19/08/2007 21:24

Ok, so I've have been pretty good all week, apart from Friday night when I had my first proper big night out since having LO and drank way too much. But, I have not lost or gained one single ounce all week.
I think that my problem is down to exercise.
I am going to make a concerted effort to do more exercise each day. Although I buggy walk around town each day, I dont think its counting for anything.
Will try harder.
10/10 sounds a good idea. The more veg etc you eat, the more you will poop out...thats gotta have some effect on your waistline right?! x

Bubble99 · 19/08/2007 21:31

That's the theory, Liz.

Definitely up the exercise, if you can.

It's difficult to find time though, IME.

Bubble99 · 20/08/2007 07:15

Morning all.

I've lost 4lbs.

Really chuffed with that.

TheodoresMummy · 20/08/2007 08:52

Ok, going to try again.

Started a thread weeks ago on a mission to lose 2-3 stone, but have been totaly crap.

Well I have been cutting down on portions and def not eating crappy stuff, but still drink too much wine , and not exercising consistently.

But the weight has got to come off, it's really getting me down.

Actually, the bulges around the back, above my hips are def smaller, so that's encouraging.

I want to get from size 14/16 trousers down to a 10 eventually. I'm a bit smaller on top, so I guess that will just right itself along with the bottom half...?

Whimsy · 20/08/2007 09:01

Morning, I've lost 2 lbs this week. I did think it would be a bit more tbh, maybe you are heavier at certain times of the month, I don't know but I'm happy with 2

I have missed my odd glass of wine

I decided on a mini trampoline in the end - it's great fun, apparently 30mins of bouncing is the equivalent of 1hrs jogging (not that I have managed 30 mins yet )

totaleclipse · 20/08/2007 09:03

CONFESSION TIME

I did very very badly last week {of the shame} so erm.....I will start again today

totaleclipse · 20/08/2007 09:06

whimsy, I have a mini trampoline too, 12 minutes bouncing burns of on average 80calories, I can only manage about 6 minutes at a time at the moment, I just keep going back, doing several sessions of 5 minutes a day, before the dc kick me off
So imagine if you could do one hour a day, thats 400 calories a day burned off.

Scoobi6 · 20/08/2007 09:15

Morning everyone, I lost 4 lb this week so am delighted

Keeping an eye on this thread really helps, knowing you're all out there trying too, so thanks everyone!

totaleclipse · 20/08/2007 09:19

Right.........off to have my shreddies, then a go on the trampoline

bogwitch · 20/08/2007 09:19

Well I am crap. Not got the guts to weigh myself and had a bad weekend too.

Will try again this week ..... sigh....

Whimsy · 20/08/2007 09:21

Well DS2 had one for his birthday and had the idea that I could bounce as they played on theirs. Only thing is they both want to bounce with mommy, so after about 3 mins were all on mine
