Link to previous thread here: Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3652424-half-a-stone-or-3kg-off-for-august

Morning all! Welcome to the half a stone loss challenge for September. All are welcome whatever plan or method you are following. I'm mainly following ww online with some intermittent fasting thrown in for good measure!

All I ask is that we continue the uplifting positivity and support seen on previous threads! We cheerlead each other, celebrate success and support through the harder times.

We had a great month in August with lots of losses. I don't know about you lot but the longer this goes on the more it feels like a way of life for me now rather than "being on a diet"?

Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 19st 13
Loss for August: 14lbs
Loss for 2019: 5 st 3lbs
Target for September: 10lbs off

Ready for September??

❤️❤️

Morning all! Almost back to normality in the cricket house, we have an extremely excited DD who can't wait to get to her new year 6 classroom today. DS starts year 10 tomorrow.

Same weight today although I ended up WFH yesterday and had hot buttered toast for lunch instead of a salad so that's probably why.

Plan for today is:
B - water and a banana
L - little bit of leftover LM hoi sin duck that's not duck with cucumber and spring onion
D - quorn chicken style pieces in spicy tomato sauce with salad and a little sour cream on the side.

Wishing us all a successful and low fat day!

P.s am in awe of those of you who have already been out for a run!!

@Tanaqui are you allowed to eat in your class? Could you take a healthy snack you can pick at?
Hoping for another good day today. As I had no coffee yesterday and having done the exercise class in the evening, I slept like a log!

SegregateMumBev · 03/09/2019 07:40

B: egg spinach and mushroom
L: out, but will try to opt for soup or something
D: veggie strifry.

Lots of water, and celery sticks for munching.

LooseAtTheSeams · 03/09/2019 07:59

Scooby you are very welcome! It's got some amazing recipes and your dish looks wonderful!
Tanaqui I used to teach an evening class and really sympathise! Agree about having a snack at 4.30 - I found the key thing was to have something ready to eat as soon as I got home - the longer I waited, the worse the cravings!
I'm still aching a bit from all the exercise at the weekend!
Cricket I'm intrigued by the LM duck - will have to investigate!

WoollyFoolly · 03/09/2019 08:00

@Tanaqui, I'd take a protein shake and drink it straight after the class, either home made or a ready made one. I like the up n go energize ones and one of those would mean I wouldn't need a meal afterwards they are very filling.
Crazy day today, DDs birthday (she's not back at school yet) plus first day back for DS. We'll be going to McDonald's for lunch 🙄 and have family coming for tea (pizza....crisps....birthday cake...). But one day off won't change the progress or the rest of the journey.

Ihatesundays · 03/09/2019 08:01

Another 0.1kg to take me to 75kg - annoying I don’t see a 4 there.

Off for a big walk and perhaps an exercise class!

crivit · 03/09/2019 08:02

@Tanaqui - echoing what Millie2017 said there. If you can have a healthy snack in class that sounds ideal given the time limits. Something you really like too, as if you're just eating it because it fits then you may still feel off when you get home.

Same weight 3 days in a row for me. Porridge again for breakfast. Lunch will be a better than yesterday salad (I hope) and I may go for a soup again tonight but a veg one instead of last night's lentil job.

cricketmum84 · 03/09/2019 08:25

@LooseAtTheSeams it's on offer at Morrison's at the moment. I get the little thin rice pancakes from an Asian food shop near work and do duck rolls with hoi sin sauce and shredded cucumber and spring onion! It's gorgeous. Even before I went veggie I wouldn't have eaten duck cos they are too close to pets for me so I'm not sure if it tastes like it lol!

Hi everyone! Late to the party this month, as we've just got back from holidays.

Fell off the wagon spectacularly in August (standard), but haven't gained much, as I didn't really drink, & didn't binge.

Weight this morning: 12st 2

Goal weight for 1st Oct: 11st 9

I'm mainly a 16:8er. Good luck everyone!

Onesmallstep67 · 03/09/2019 08:46

Morning everyone. Really enjoying following my first ever thread on here. Lovely how people are supporting and encouraging each other.
I've finally dipped under the 17 stone mark this morning so decided that I am never going back there again. Yay
By following other people's day to day routines I have realised that I definitely need to increase my activity levels. But my bad habits have become entrenched over a really long time. Time for a change. Small steps, more walking and maybe aqua fit.
Have a great day. Looking forward to reading more ideas for meals and following everyone's progress x

Crazzzycat · 03/09/2019 09:07

Weighed myself this morning and I’m now 78.5 kg, which is a 0.8 kg drop since yesterday. Obviously it’s not “real” weightloss, but it means that I only gained 2 kg during the Summer holidays, rather than 3. That sounds a lot more acceptable to me! Smile

I don’t really have a plan for today, as my shopping won’t get delivered until late this evening. I’ve found that not having a plan is always a bit dangerous, but at least I don’t have any junk food in the house either, so hopefully it will all work out ok!

Hopefully · 03/09/2019 10:17

tanaqui I am also struggling with a couple of days a week where my routine is totally thrown - I stay with a friend and have dinner with them, and usually end up eating incredibly late, which means (a) I snack early to avoid getting hungry, but (b) I am still starving by dinner time so end up eating loads. I'm also not sure how to approach it, but thinking about trying to switch it round and eat dinner super early then just take a snack with me to the friend's house to have while they eat dinner.

Onesmallstep that's brilliant to get under the 17 stone barrier - crossing those 'new stone' thresholds is such a milestone.

Really struggling with fasting today, I guess because I ran this morning (set a new 2019 PB for 5k - 31:29 - which is still five minutes slower than my PB a few years ago, but the quickest I've done since getting back to running this year).

uppershopping · 03/09/2019 10:30

Hi! Checking in at 1.5lbs extra from 10 days ago due to holiday. All in all much lower gain than I expected.

I'm finding it hard to get back into the swing but I'm aiming for 7lbs off this month!

KondoKonvert · 03/09/2019 12:20

Food diary for today:

B: bacon, eggs, avocado, coffee with cream
L: chicken, spinach, cucumber, celery & mozzarella
D: beef stew with leeks, mushrooms and cauliflower

Exercise: day 1 of 30 day shred

muddledmidget · 03/09/2019 12:23

September is going OK so far, am down from 11st9 to 11st5.75 which I'm pleased about.

Having trouble saying no to temptation at the moment, ie when my husband suggests going out, I'm not picking good meals. So instead I'm trying to cut down. Instead of 2 eggs on 2 toasts for breakfast, I'm having one egg on one toast, for dinner, 1 fajita with salad rather than 2. And if I have chips with a meal out, putting half of them onto my husbands plate.

Plus I'm trying to eat my 5 a day, which is meaning some big salads with lunch and dinner.

Millie2017 · 03/09/2019 12:30

I won’t post a picture every day I promise, I’m just really pleased with my tuna salad! Added a small portion of low fat salad cheese and low fat cheddar this time.

Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!!
Noisysparrows · 03/09/2019 13:23

Right, day one, back from holidays and on it. Plopping my food diary here so I can't deviate later!

B: banana and protein smoothie
L: chicken/vegetable soup with barley and lentils
D: (yet to be consumed Smile) salmon in chilli/soy dressing, broccoli, baby potatoes
Snack: apple

This should bring me to just under my 1200kcal target (only aiming this low for the first week as a kickstart) so I have a little wiggle room for an extra snack or larger dinner this evening if I'm hungry.

No time for formal exercise today but planning out my yoga classes/runs for the rest of the week.

Haven't ventured onto the dreaded scales yet but I will...I will!

Jeds55 · 03/09/2019 13:56

Thanks for the welcome Smile
Loving reading everyone's daily menus, need inspiration. Good day yesterday to kick start the weight loss. Woke really hungry today but been so busy that managed to avoid temptation, so far:
Weetabix x 3 with skimmed milk
Potato and leek soup with 1.5 slice bread
Dinner is going to be a stir fry with lots veg and quorn chicken pieces, other half out so I can make it as spicy as I like!
Snacks: fruit, Greek yogurt
Have a good day all

ScoobyCan · 03/09/2019 14:27

@Millie2017 that looks so colourful and tasty!! I was wondering whether my keto diet works with tuna? I LOVE tinned tuna! I'm sure my nutrition friend would have a few things to say about it so I haven't asked.... any thoughts?!

HeroicAlien · 03/09/2019 14:35

Millie2017 I like the pictures - good to see that "diet" food can look appealing!

Bit of a rubbish day for me yesterday - DH was late back from work which meant we didn't eat until 8.30pm, and I was caught by the post-work munchies. Which is doubly irritating because I know that's when I tend to pig out, and I was going to try and stop it. Hmm.

But today is another day! So plan for today is/was M&S salmon salad and a bag of lentil curls for lunch, and spag bol with courgetti instead of spag for tea. And definitely no snacks when I get in from work. I WILL stay strong!

Tanaqui · 03/09/2019 16:49

Thank you all for the ideas! I can't take a snack, but I could take a protein shake- I'm not in the UK but will see if I can get a gf one here, or I could make a milk based drink and have that. Then I would just have to be strong and not even open the kitchen afterwards! I will try it tomorrow (have my class again then!). Thank you! (Am off to power step now to burn off last night's ice cream).

2018SoFarSoGreat · 03/09/2019 16:59

I'm in, slowly but in.

Starting weight: 185 lbs (Sept 3)
Starting weight: 201 lbs (April 20)
Goal weight: 175 lbs (just because that's one I've been able to reach and sustain - would love to be less!)
September target: 4 lbs

Blood sugar and good cholesterol both needed attention at physical in April. Normal overweight weight is 182 but I knew I'd piled it on. I blame bereavement and general malaise, but seeing the scales gave me a good shake up. I've upped my steps to be sure to meet/exceed my 10,000 daily, and cut out the sweets and glass(es) of bubbly with dinner. Have not been dieting as such, just paying attention, and weighing every morning. It keeps me on target, I think.

Good luck, everyone. We can do this.

Crazzzycat · 03/09/2019 18:45

I had a bit of a wobble today, probably as a result of feeling like shit all day. I think the autumn colds are coming early this year 🤧

I had a spicy bean wrap for lunch and the same thing for dinner. Snacks were two tangerines, two corn thins with homemade pumpkin seed butter and banana, a slice of quorn ham and...quite a few biscuits 🙈 It came in just under 1400 kcal probably because I’m not counting the few handfuls of crisps that also disappeared down my gullet

twobambinos · 03/09/2019 18:46

Can I please join. Again. Ds is nearly 1 and I've been eating bad for over a year now. I have a stone to get to a happy ish weight so going to aim for that first. My will power was at an all time low for the last while. Hoping 7lbs in September can be mine. Exercise every day even if it is just a 30 minute walk.

Millie2017 · 03/09/2019 21:31

Closing the kitchen. Inspired by some of the dishes on this thread I went out and brought some huge mushrooms to stuff with pepper and spinach for lunch tomorrow.
No exercise today but I had a billion name labels to iron into school uniform, so i was standing the entire time and not snacking... every cloud and all that!
