Link to previous thread here: Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3652424-half-a-stone-or-3kg-off-for-august

Morning all! Welcome to the half a stone loss challenge for September. All are welcome whatever plan or method you are following. I'm mainly following ww online with some intermittent fasting thrown in for good measure!

All I ask is that we continue the uplifting positivity and support seen on previous threads! We cheerlead each other, celebrate success and support through the harder times.

We had a great month in August with lots of losses. I don't know about you lot but the longer this goes on the more it feels like a way of life for me now rather than "being on a diet"?

Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 19st 13
Loss for August: 14lbs
Loss for 2019: 5 st 3lbs
Target for September: 10lbs off

Ready for September??

❤️❤️

@WoollyFoolly sending positive vibes, as others have said the likelihood is it’s pro something benign. Fantastic losses @WorryWorryWorm are you calorie counting or doing something else? How tall are you?

cricketmum84 · 22/09/2019 08:41

Aaaaand we are back to the weird weight fluctuations! 19.7 this morning, god knows how I have apparently gained 3lbs overnight. I had 4 wholewheat crackers at 1pm with 20g of reduced fat cheddar. Then at 8ish I had 2 slices of pizza, 2 slices of garlic baguette and about 8 chips. 3 G&Ts and a glass of wine.

I'll be cooking a roast dinner today for DH and kids. I'll planning on having some worn chicken pieces in a vegetable gravy, little bit of mashed potato and some broccoli. I really need to get my iron intake up!

Weather is due to be miserable all day here so I'm planning on catching up with work once the England rugby has finished.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Yesterday's food:

B: 1 slice toast, peanut butter, grapes
L: jacket potato with tuna sweetcorn, salad, cheese. Didn't manage to even eat half, the café gave us so much.
S: 2 slices pizza,1 cookie, 1 glass wine.

Snacks: banana, 1 slice Victoria sponge.
Drinks: coffee, water.

Today am at 57.2 on scales. So a loss of about 1.5kg this month. Am trying to eat when I am hungry but stopping when I am full and my portion sizes are definitely smaller as as result!

ScoobyCan · 22/09/2019 08:52

Honestly - I have absolutely no idea why for the name change this morning??

So I'll put it back here under my actual username... sorry about that folks.

Good morning all! @WoollyFoolly I hope you're ok - finding unwanted lumps is scary. Is there a chance you can bring GP appt forward from Friday?

This week has been hugely stressful and there were a couple of days where I could have sloped off to the shop for carbs and chocolate, but despite vodka (Wednesday?) and Prosecco (last night) I have kept to my diet. And I have lost.

1st Sept: 14 stone 6 // 92.8 kg // 204.6 lbs
8th Sept: 14 stone 0 // 88.9kg // 196 lbs
15th Sept: 13 stone 9 // 86.8kg // 191 lbs
22nd Sept: 13 stone 6 // 85.5kg // 188 lbs

I am hugely pleased with a stone off in three weeks. Genuinely proud of myself. Now I need to keep it up and start upping the exercise so I don't plateau and get disheartened too often.

Good luck to everyone else on their journey!

ScoobyCan · 22/09/2019 09:09

@cricketmum84 - I'm doing a roast for the family too (slow cooking it) - it's been in since half 7, I don't know whether I'll be able to not eat until I break my fast at noon!

@FashionFoodLaughs I'm 5ft6.5, doing a diet similar to a ketogenic diet whilst on the 16:8. I had a nutritional therapist about 4 years ago who provided me with a diet plan appropriate to my body / physique / metabolism, and I lost 4 stone in 4.5 months or thereabouts (began in early March at 14 stone, got to 10 stone on 18 July), and kept it off in the main (sat just under 11 stone) until hideously acrimonious divorce with a covert narcissist over past two years. I have understandably put on weight comfort eating, which succeeded in bringing me back up to 14.6

I would like to enjoy Christmas, so aim to get down to 11 by then. 10 is too low for my build and I end up looking very very gaunt. I also have a bit of a weird self image issue: so I don't ever "see" myself as large or small. It is only when I'm super large or super small that I notice. So it creeps back on and because I've yo yo'd for the entirety of my life I have size 8 clothes up to size 18 clothes in my wardrobe... I'm possibly not the best example of a healthy balanced maintainable person!!!

cricketmum84 · 22/09/2019 09:18

@ScoobyCan a stone so far this month is incredible! Well done!!

AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter · 22/09/2019 11:13

@WoollyFoolly I've got my fingers crossed for you. I can imagine how scary it must have been!

I drank and ate far too much yesterday and need serious motivation to be good today! I had yoghurt, banana and granola for breakfast hoping that it would satisfy me but I'm sat here craving the chocolate in the kitchen. I just need to remember that I'll be gutted if i weigh more in the morning. Weekends are so hard!!

bluebeck · 22/09/2019 11:25

woolly I am sure you know it's unlikely to be anything sinister in that location so try not to worry.

worryworm and scooby brilliant weight loss, well done!

I did weigh myself this morning and have gained 2lbs through birthday festivities which isn't too bad. I only have one more big meal to go so if I am good today and tomorrow and get back on it, the overall damage shouldn't be too bad.

It has been a useful reminder of the impact alcohol has on my calorie intake. If I drink, I eat shit. It's not just the alcohol calories that have the impact. I will eat cake/crisps/chocolate/anything as soon as I start drinking.

It's quite dark and autumnal here today which is making me reflective.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

ScoobyCan · 22/09/2019 11:51

@bluebeck - I agree - whilst I haven't drunk until this week, I had a few glasses of Prosecco last night and I'm struggling to wait for midday as I'm really hungry. I'm used to eating all sorts of nonsense (crisps, wotsits, chipsticks, hula hoops, a whole salty buttered baguette with leerdammer / ham) the morning after. It's easier to lay off the alcohol as then there's less chance of me falling off the carb wagon 😭

Mrscog · 22/09/2019 12:07

Hi everyone, it's very late in the month, but can I join for the last week? Obviously not going to make the 7 lb in a week but I just need some help making a start!

A summer of crap eating and too much booze has left me 9lb over the weight at which I feel amazing and happy. I feel awful and bloated and flabby :(

Going to be sensible today (we have a meal out) but then start properly tomorrow. Going to cut out the sweet treats as I've got in to the habit of having a cake for breakfast every day, and go back to 16:8 fasting which really suits me and no booze in the week.

Weighed in at 55.8kg this morning (I am very short so weight is generally low end).

WoollyFoolly · 22/09/2019 16:46

Had my youngest's birthday party this morning with the resultant running around like a headless chicken that organising a party involves!
So today so far I think I've eaten a handful of jelly sweets, half a ham sandwich, and a handful of hula hoops.
Not recommended!

I'm happy to wait for the docs appointment, I'm sure it'll be fine.
ScoobyCan, you should be so proud, a stone off is incredible!!

cricketmum84 · 22/09/2019 17:05

Hi @Mrscog of course you are more than welcome :) mmm cake for breakfast!!

@WoollyFoolly I hate kids birthday parties 😂 so much stress and noise! Do let us know what the GP says although I'm sure it won't be anything to worry about.

I haven't eaten yet today. Lost most of my Sunday to bloody work. Ready for my veggie casserole and mash and a g&t and a hot bath. Am so fed up of losing my weekends and the stress levels that come with this job :(

Mrscog · 22/09/2019 17:28

Thanks for the welcome @cricketmum84, today was definitely not a weight loss day, but not a weight gain day either. I need to plan out what food to take to work tomorrow. And also when to do first weigh - would like to wait a week, but it's not likely - I might do Thursday.

Sigh81 · 22/09/2019 18:53

Hope everyone had good weekends.

I definitely ate more than I should have done: I lost someone close to me a short while ago and for some reason it was all I could think about today. So I ate to make myself feel better (and of course it didn't work!).

B: overnight oats, fruit.
L: ham, chicken, pea hand pie. Crunchie and a KitKat. Grapes.
D: steak, roasted vegetables, slice of toast. Watermelon with yoghurt.

Snack: apple with peanut butter.
Drinks: water. Cannot guarantee that this won't be joined by a whiskey tonight!

Studentnursesos12e · 22/09/2019 20:23

Weighed today and 11.4

Now I’m glad I’ve not gained but it would appear I’m in a plateau.

I have three HCA shifts this week (too many but it’s a one off) and I’m going to try do 2-3 x 600 calorie days and then 1540 limit as usual the other days. If this budges to a loss then I’ll go back to only one 600 cal day.

Tomorrow I’ve got cereal, salad, soup, 5 cal jelly and protein shake to last me a HCA shift and as my first 600 cal day.

Drogosnextwife · 22/09/2019 20:33

Hello everyone. I have just found this thread, was considering starting one of my own because I need some tips but hoping some of you could maybe help me.
How do you keep motivated? I have been wanting to lose weight for about a year and a half. I lost some weight and then put it back on, and have never managed to stay motivated enough to do it again. Also how much exercise do you all do?
I work from home so find it all too easy to over eat and tend to eat when I get stressed or bored.

CalmConfident · 22/09/2019 20:44

I have found the intermittent fasting is really working for me @drogosnextwife. The simple “no eating in this window” draconian nature of m seems to suit me far better than counting calories. I am doing it in conjunction with tracking on My fitness pal.

WoollyFoolly · 22/09/2019 20:49

Drogo I’ve been doing 16:8 and it’s been a revelation how easy I find it. I really don’t feel like I’m ‘dieting’, it’s a lifestyle change. Ive had a fair few day off, but I’m also just trying to stick to the principle of eating when I’m actually hungry, not just out of habit.
I do little exercise, I have a chronic illness so at times I literally go to work and then spend the rest of the day on the sofa.
Since May, I’ve lost almost 2 stone, probably around another to go.
studentnurse have you tried the up and go energise shakes? I find them really really filling - I think they are around 300cals and 33g protein.

Drogosnextwife · 22/09/2019 20:55

CalmConfident
WoollyFoolly

Thanks, that's actually something I was reading about last week and though I could maybe manage that. I'm guessing you have to cut calories alongside the fasting?

CalmConfident · 22/09/2019 21:13

There is less time for eating and I have found I am less bothered somehow. It has stopped me snacking late at night which was always my challenge. I use an app called zero which has been good to work out the timings.

Drogosnextwife · 22/09/2019 23:15

Thanks I'll try that

cricketmum84 · 22/09/2019 23:42

I'm also finding the 16:8 really easy. I don't eat breakfast anyway and haven't done for a long time. I eat from 12.30-8.30. It fits in really well with my normal eating pattern.

Started off well today with a very hard yoga session (heart rate up to 130!) and an omelette breakfast. But with 3 pieces of toast and marmalade. skipped lunch. Had fat chicken pie with tons of veg for dinner, a glass of red. Then went out (on a school night!) to a gig and had 2 gins and slimline. Just got it and had another piece of toast.

Fast day tomorrow!

Tanaqui · 23/09/2019 05:59

Awesome loss @ScoobyCan.

Hello @Mrscog and @Drogosnextwife. Drog, I struggle with motivation and this thread does help. I exercise quite a lot and actually I am not sure it really helps- I am relatively fit, but I also work full time and I have been looking at where I fall off the diet wagon and it's usually when i am overtures.

Like this weekend! And am now 10.2.2. I hope I haven't really put 4lb on in a week, but if it was a "fake" low it is possible. I could do with t.o.m. appearing (at the age of very irregular) as I think I'd feel better! Going to try and relax and get back to the 16:8 (am a bit put off by my hyper experience!), but it has worked really well for me in the past.

Have good days today guys!

Tanaqui · 23/09/2019 06:00
