Link to previous thread here: Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3652424-half-a-stone-or-3kg-off-for-august

Morning all! Welcome to the half a stone loss challenge for September. All are welcome whatever plan or method you are following. I'm mainly following ww online with some intermittent fasting thrown in for good measure!

All I ask is that we continue the uplifting positivity and support seen on previous threads! We cheerlead each other, celebrate success and support through the harder times.

We had a great month in August with lots of losses. I don't know about you lot but the longer this goes on the more it feels like a way of life for me now rather than "being on a diet"?

Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 19st 13
Loss for August: 14lbs
Loss for 2019: 5 st 3lbs
Target for September: 10lbs off

Ready for September??

❤️❤️

Hello! Haven't checked in for a couple of days as I was feeling so low about failing to lose weight, but have been lurking and reading. I actually went for OMAD yesterday and found that worked well - I've lost control so much with my eating that it's easier in a way to just say to myself that I'm not eating than it is to try to eat sensibly. I didn't even binge when I did eat, although I'm sure I ate a good 1,000 calories or more in that one meal.

I don't necessarily think it's the best long term solution for me, but food has become a bit of a source of anxiety and stress to me over the past couple of weeks, and this feels like a way to reset myself and get out of those bad standing-in-the-kitchen-binging habits that I've slipped into, as long as I can keep my OMAD to preparing a decent meal and actually sitting down and eating it.

Weighed in at 77.6kg today, but still haven't managed more than two days on the trot below my September start weight of 77.8kg. I think until it's been a few days below that weight, I can't really claim to have actually lost it!

WoollyFoolly · 20/09/2019 09:58

Oh paulhollywood I walked into Lidl yesterday to be confronted by piles of panettone boxes, mince pies, Christmas puds

I love every single thing that is a Christmas indulgence. And I'm the only one in the family who likes mince pies and panettone and yet I still buy many of them every year and eat them all myself. I will have to have a good think about how to approach this this year. Try and allow myself an occasional treat but with the temptation of having the rest of the box available or go cold turkey and don't buy any?

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 20/09/2019 11:39

WoolyFoolly buy a box of mince pies and freeze them! Let one defrost and warm it up in the oven, lift up the lid and put a dollop if cream underneath & eat it.

It's lots of effort to go to so should stop you binging, and the amazingness of it should carry you through [santa]

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 20/09/2019 11:40

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch

GTFO.

You just changed my life.

WoollyFoolly · 20/09/2019 12:48

MilesJupp you're a genius!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 20/09/2019 13:03

You're welcome 😇

cricketmum84 · 20/09/2019 16:14

Genius idea @MilesJuppIsMyBitch !! I'm the only one in the house who likes them and I spend all of October - January throwing half boxes away.

As an aside - I know a lot of us are veggie on here. What are the best vegetarian mince pies?? I'm sure they have suet in them normally?

WoollyFoolly · 20/09/2019 16:30

I think the majority of the big names are all veggie anyway cricket. Lidl and ALDI both do lovely Christmas stuff, including mince pies.

LooseAtTheSeams · 20/09/2019 18:15

cricket co-op do really good veggie mince pies, closely followed by M&S - in my humble opinion!
DH and DS2 also make them on Christmas Eve - it's a tradition!

AdventureTravelDreamer · 20/09/2019 21:30

@cricketmum84 I think most supermarket mince pies are veggie these days, I can't think of any that aren't. DH loves mince pies, I can guarantee that he'll buy them before me. But then he doesn't have a bit of fat on him and never watches what he eats so can basically eat as many as he wants Envy

He's just gone out to pick up DD from Scouts and asked if I want anything, which is essentially him asking if I want him to pick up a bottle of wine. I said no. Not sure I recognise myself these days!!

lightlypoached · 21/09/2019 08:06

61.2/31% this morning. Not bad. Smile

AdventureTravelDreamer · 21/09/2019 08:10

So three weeks in and I have lost 5.4lbs in total, 1.4lbs this week and I am super chuffed Grin

I would love to get to -7lbs by Friday but know that is probably a bit unrealistic but what I weigh then will be my ending weight for the month as DH and I going to northern Italy for 5 nights that day.

Hope everyone else has had a successful week too Smile

Sigh81 · 21/09/2019 08:36

Down to 57.5kg this morning, so about half way there. Feeling motivated.

Food diary yesrerday:

B) cheese and ham croissant (Friday treat)
L) salmon sashimi, fig, 3 small rocky road bites
D) ham sandwich, light/baked crisps, peach.

Not as much fruit and veg as I should but will do better today, when I will also be walking lots!

AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter · 21/09/2019 08:43

Morning everyone,

Weighed in this morning at 10.8/67.5 which is the same as I was mid week but (TMI) AF has arrived and I'm a tad constipated Blush. I'm out out tonight so will probably eat and drink loads! Just hoping I can manage to be good tomorrow and not succumb to bacon butties and McD's like I normally do!

I really find this group helpful, thanks everyone!!

FashionFoodLaughs · 21/09/2019 09:08

Morning all. Had a very restrained time at a family wedding (had about 1500 calories and no wine) and was rewarded by a 1lb loss this morning! This never happens! Down to 11 0.5 from 11.5 so hoping I’ll get half a stone off by the end of the month. Love this thread!

cricketmum84 · 21/09/2019 10:37

Morning all! Oof am I glad it's the weekend!! Work is just so pressurised at the moment. I have absolutely loads to catch up on this weekend too :( pass the gin!!

Still hovering at 19.4, despite being under calories every day this week.

Ivycat is joining me on the diet 😂 she had a check up at the vets this morning and had gained an entire kilo in a month Blush I was trying to feed her up after she had lost so much when she was so poorly. Looks like I overdid it! On the plus side her bloods came back all normal again so we just need a urine test to come back clear and she will be signed off from treatment!

Plan for today is:
L - think I may make a batch of sweet potato and red onion bhajis for the freezer and have a couple with yoghurt and mint
D - everyone is having pizza... I'll join them if I can restrict myself to 2 slices!

Have a lovely Saturday everyone!

Half a stone or 3kgs off in September!!

I daren't weigh myself. Birthday Week is in full swing and went to The Ivy last night.

It will all be over by Wednesday so I will brave the scales then and assess the damage.

I am enjoying myself though Grin

WoollyFoolly · 21/09/2019 12:54

Unexpected downside of weight loss is that I discovered today I have a hard lump on my ribcage which I'd never noticed before. 😕 think it's probably a bony spur and fortunately am at the GP on Friday anyway but it's never nice finding odd lumps.

CalmConfident · 21/09/2019 13:56

Just weighed in...65.0 kg exactly. My goal was under 65...so nearly there!!!!

Was out celebrating last night so lots of alcohol calories...

Going to be strict this week for the final sept push!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 21/09/2019 21:48

Sorry to hear that WoollyFoolly. Try not to panic, don't google, and remember it's statistically MUCH more likely to be nothing than something HmmThanks

Studentnursesos12e · 21/09/2019 22:48

Hi can I tag along. I weigh very infrequently but last weighed 26/8 and 11.4. I will weigh tomorrow and am hoping for a good loss.

I do calorie counting (1540) and 1-2 600 cal days a week. My TW is 9.12 (I’m 5’3).

Studentnursesos12e · 21/09/2019 22:49

Oh and finishing on 1334 cals

WoollyFoolly · 21/09/2019 23:51

Thanks Miles, I know it's very likely something innocuous, I suspect a bone spur (I already have bony overgrowths on my hands). But it's a bit of extra stress at an already stressful time and there's always that teeny tiny voice in the back of your mind. I shall firmly ignore both the voice and google! (Actually, too late, but google says highly likely to be bone spur or lipoma so quite helpful in this case.)
Anyway, a very stressful and busy day resulted in not so many calories for me - leftovers of ratatouille and grilled halloumi for lunch and spicy soup and olive bread for tea.

Tanaqui · 22/09/2019 07:37

I hope you can avoid worrying too much Woolly.
Well done all of you who are getting good losses!
I had a disaster yesterday- weighed in the morning and was 10.1.5 again, totally dispirited and tired and hungry, and literally ate all day- and not even really treat food! Lots of gf toast and cheese, nuts, cereal, yoghurt, chocolate - don't dare weigh today. Think I had got over tired and that was the result. Will try and get back on it today or I will be heavier at the end of sept than I was at the start.

WorryWorryWorm · 22/09/2019 07:54

Good morning all! @WoollyFoolly I hope you're ok - finding unwanted lumps is scary. Is there a chance you can bring GP appt forward from Friday?

This week has been hugely stressful and there were a couple of days where I could have sloped off to the shop for carbs and chocolate, but despite vodka (Wednesday?) and Prosecco (last night) I have kept to my diet. And I have lost.

1st Sept: 14 stone 6 // 92.8 kg // 204.6 lbs
8th Sept: 14 stone 0 // 88.9kg // 196 lbs
15th Sept: 13 stone 9 // 86.8kg // 191 lbs
22nd Sept: 13 stone 6 // 85.5kg // 188 lbs

I am hugely pleased with a stone off in three weeks. Genuinely proud of myself. Now I need to keep it up and start upping the exercise so I don't plateau and get disheartened too often.

Good luck to everyone else on their journey! Thanks
