Link to previous thread here: Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3652424-half-a-stone-or-3kg-off-for-august

Morning all! Welcome to the half a stone loss challenge for September. All are welcome whatever plan or method you are following. I'm mainly following ww online with some intermittent fasting thrown in for good measure!

All I ask is that we continue the uplifting positivity and support seen on previous threads! We cheerlead each other, celebrate success and support through the harder times.

We had a great month in August with lots of losses. I don't know about you lot but the longer this goes on the more it feels like a way of life for me now rather than "being on a diet"?

Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 19st 13
Loss for August: 14lbs
Loss for 2019: 5 st 3lbs
Target for September: 10lbs off

Ready for September??

❤️❤️

Well done @bluebeck !! What a fantastic result :)

Yes I'm sure I am eating a bit too little. DH is constantly dropping it into conversation, I am just really struggling with my appetite at the moment. Not sure if it's still a bit of an after affect of coming of ADs although it's been 5 or 6 weeks now. I just don't have any interest in food and get full very quickly.

I'm hoping that concentrating on nutrients rather than calories might give me a bit more interest.

Skipped tea tonight, some dick ran into the back of my car earlier while I was waiting for DD to come out of school and tried to drive off! I chased after him lol and banged on his window!! I was a bit shaken up by the bump and the confrontation so used my saved tea calories on a couple of strong gins.

Thanks everyone Grin

cricket that sounds horrible. I really hate that sort of thing and would probably end up with a sleepless night where I lay there silently fuming and reliving it!!

I bet he was surprised when you caught up with him Smile Cheeky bastard!

Hopefully the Gin will sort it out. I have no booze in the house other than a bottle of champagne and I am not sinking that alone so I will make up for it on Thursday night when I am out with friends in London and can celebrate properly.

cricketmum84 · 09/09/2019 20:51

@bluebeck it was right outside school, he had only got a couple of metres away but I bet I looked a right crazy woman jogging next to his car banging on it and shouting!! We've got it all on dashcam so he can't deny anything even though he was insistent it was just a light touch!! The whole car bolted forward, I jumped out of my skin!

@Millie2017 YouTube zumba’! I never thought of that... any recommendations?

Going to a real Zumba class tomorrow. Done the 30 day shred level 2 tonight and feeling a bit tired...

crivit · 09/09/2019 21:46

Congratulations @bluebeck !

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 09/09/2019 21:51

Hello everyone!
Can I join you please?
I REALLY need to lose weight.
My plan is not to drink, to exercise every day and to low carb.
Also would like to get back on the 5:2
I have 3 st to lose 🙄

Millie2016 · 09/09/2019 22:01

@Ihatesundays
I started by looking up songs I liked but it was an advert after every 3 minutes so in the end I just chose one that was a 40 minute continuous workout. Was fun in my lounge while the baby slept!
Tomorrow I’m going to do a 20 minute strong workout.
Closing the kitchen, did really well all day, feeling pleased and motivated.

Millie2016 · 09/09/2019 22:04

And congratulations @bluebeck!

HollyTheHarrier · 09/09/2019 22:51

Welcome @SmiledWithTheRisingSun

Good day today. Lots of healthy food and relatively low sugar. Well under calories as I ran 9 miles in total today. Considering whether to eat any more or just go to bed. Not actually hungry but I don’t want to be starving tomorrow!

Tanaqui · 10/09/2019 05:54

You are getting some awesome miles in Holly! It sounds old fashioned, but I have found a glass of milk really helpful if I've exercised and want a few calories but not really food. I'm not really into the protein shake type thing that proper sporty people might go for!

10.0.9 again today, so going to keep trying to stay under 1500 and see how I go.

SegregateMumBev · 10/09/2019 06:43

Had a great fast day yesterday - bovril, miso and celery, japanese omelette and a gallon of herbal tea.

Slept well, though it took a while to get over, and feeling fab this morning. I have to remind myself that I do this every week now, till it becomes a habit.

cricketmum84 · 10/09/2019 07:02

Right my lovelies! Positive mindset today. No more "poor me" lol!

I'm going to give MFP a go and focus more of nutrition than calories (although obv still sticking to calorie limits). I've also just taken delivery of a box of xls medical tea that I'm going to give a go to see if things start moving again.

The 1lb gain from yesterday is back off again but all that means is I'm back to September start weight! Although the size 20 jeans I pulled out of the wardrobe last week are already feeling a little bit loose around my things and bum. Hoping that means I am losing some inches even if the scales aren't playing ball 😂

Have a lovely day everyone!

Oops forgot food plan for today!

B - water and xls green tea
L - salad with 2 hard boiled eggs
D - 2 veggie sausages with roasted Mediterranean veg with garlic and rosemary

@cricketmum84 it's really difficult when the scales aren't moving, or are going in the wrong direction!! The image is my weight changes last week / weekend and it was so frustrating as I know I was being really careful calories wise and was exercising too. Thankfully we are now going in the right direction again Smile I think focussing on nutrition is a really good idea and just koko and it will start shifting again.

Well done @bl

Morning gang!

@Tanaqui I'm 5'7" (ish. I always thought I was 5'6", but i was measured recently at just over 5'7" - maybe all the yoga finally improved my posture!). I have absolutely no idea how to improve my slight binge mentality with 16:8, but I am finding keeping a good diary of literally every mouthful is helping a lot. And also not stressing too much if (when) I don't make it to 16 hours fasting - better to break early than be so ravenous that I eat nonstop for an hour, which is what has been happening. I am focusing on protein more, which is helping a bit, although yesterday stood and ate three homemade chapati in a row (after eating a perfectly normal meal), which had me feeling properly sick. Then had to eat an evening meal with my friend to be polite and really could have done without it. Sigh.

Weight is back up to 68.2kg this morning, which is depressing in the extreme, but I'm hoping it's down to the yoga and lack of proper hydration (and the aforementioned three chapati) than it is to actual weight gain, given that I weighed in at 67.4 yesterday. Going to aim to drink tons of water today and eat plenty of protein (ideas for ways to add protein to a Moroccan warm salad much appreciated, ideally not feta or both of which I've eaten a lot of recently). Also should be having a fairly active day as I'm helping my builder out for a couple of hours, and will try to run later.

Food plan for today:

  • Turmeric latte whenever I give up on my fast.
  • yoghurt and berries for breakfast if I can't wait until lunch, but I'm hoping that I'll be busy helping the builder and will make it through till 1pm just on some fruit.
  • Moroccan salad for lunch with roast veggies, houmous, roast beans, kale and pitta bread.
  • dinner - something light. I much prefer having my main meal at lunchtime, which I can do when I'm staying here for the evening meal. We are clearing the freezer so will probably just have a small portion of whatever random combination of leftovers I dig out of the freezer for the DCs.
Hopefully · 10/09/2019 07:36

That should say not feta or halloumi!

WhoKnewBeefStew · 10/09/2019 07:50

Going back to the gym today to do a HIIT session and sort a routine I can do on my own with the gym instructor. I'm hopefully back at work next week so won't be able to make the classes.

My knee is giving me no end of grief at the moment so trying to strengthen it up without making it hurt (if that makes sense.

Does anyone follow James Smith on Facebook? He's all about Calorie Deficit. Choice language but I find a lot of what he says makes total sense

HollyTheHarrier · 10/09/2019 07:57

Thanks @Tanaqui! I’m trying to get to 35 miles a week but it’s quite variable with work commitments from week to week. Milk is a good idea. I ended up having a small hot chocolate with hazelnut milk (just to use it up, I drink normal milk too). About 200 calories but less because I over heated it and about a third boiled over in the microwave 🤦‍♀️

Today plan:
4.5 mile run done
Breakfast - yoghurt and nuts/dried fruit, banana
Lunch - tbc
Dinner - veggie lasagne

LooseAtTheSeams · 10/09/2019 09:27

Cricket hope you're ok - that must have really shaken you. I am so impressed you chased him!
Crazzzycat totally agree about MFP!
Very stressful day at work yesterday - am going to think positively today, though!
Oats, yoghurt and cranberries for breakfast again - yum!
I have made healthy salad with couscous for lunch and announced to family we are having butternut squash and chickpea stew this evening!
Just need to avoid wine...

WhoKnewBeefStew · 10/09/2019 11:12

Did my HIIT today, thought I was going to puke or pass out! I can't believe how unfit I've got. I used to be able to do these, no problem, at the start of the year. It's taken me over an hour to stop wanting the throw up Shock
And to boot it was less calories than my dance yesterday, which was much. nicer

Crazzzycat · 10/09/2019 12:01

Thanks @bluebeck and congrats on the job!

I’m feeling a little bit calmer today, which will hopefully make it easier to stick to the plan.

Lookingforpizza · 10/09/2019 12:21

Hello all - I've caught the office lurgy and feeling frustrated today. I just want to go home, get into bed and eat comfort food. Ended up eating a boat load of rice last night as DP always cooks too much. I've been trying to eat all my breakfast and lunch later to stave off hunger pangs that kick in at about 5pm but it isn't working. I don't like to eat my tea any earlier than 7 if I can help it, as I end up hungry at bed time.

Today's food:
B: Muesli and oat milk
L: Tomato and bean soup
D: Eggy bread with a bit of halloumi on the side
Snacks: Latte, banana and probably some chocolate.

I think this comes out to about 1500. I really need to get out for a run as i haven't been in 10 days but it seems too much of a struggle today, I'm not coping well with this random cold weather!

Millie2016 · 10/09/2019 12:42

I think yesterday used up all my energy and I’m feeling lazy today.
Had my usual wheat biscuits for breakfast and made myself a beef sandwich for lunch. Surfing mn instead of doing my you tube workout... oh dear.
I need to find a way to maintain the momentum. This is one of the problems of being at home with DS, no one around to judge me!
Ok, I’m getting up and putting some washing away.
Have a good day everyone.

historysock · 10/09/2019 13:16

I've hit a rut. I'm bored of healthy eating. And bored of exercise. This is what always happens three weeks in!
Haven't fallen off the wagon yet though...about to drag myself out for a walk with the doggies.

JeSuisPrest · 10/09/2019 13:20

@historysock My advice would be to have whatever treat meal you want and not even think twice about it. Life is for living - 3 weeks without slipping is a major achievement and one 1,500 calorie meal is not going to make a jot of difference in the long term but it may be the treat you need to get you back on track.

I can't help with the excercise though - if I start missing classes that's a slippery slope for me as I find it so hard to regain my fitness even after missing a couple of weeks.
