Link to previous thread here: Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3652424-half-a-stone-or-3kg-off-for-august

Morning all! Welcome to the half a stone loss challenge for September. All are welcome whatever plan or method you are following. I'm mainly following ww online with some intermittent fasting thrown in for good measure!

All I ask is that we continue the uplifting positivity and support seen on previous threads! We cheerlead each other, celebrate success and support through the harder times.

We had a great month in August with lots of losses. I don't know about you lot but the longer this goes on the more it feels like a way of life for me now rather than "being on a diet"?

Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 19st 13
Loss for August: 14lbs
Loss for 2019: 5 st 3lbs
Target for September: 10lbs off

Ready for September??

❤️❤️

12st 11 here this morning so 2lb off this first week. I've changed my goal weight on MFP now, my original goal was to reach 12st 7 which gets me into the normal BMI bracket so I've now added a new further goal of 12st. MFP progress chart looks really pleasing 😁

On the veggie thing, I'm not vegetarian but my DH is so we eat a lot of veggie food naturally. I do find it almost impossible to hit my daily protein goals if I don't have meat though. One thing I really like about MFP is that it gives you a nutritional breakdown and has targets for fat, protein, carbs etc.

JeSuisPrest · 07/09/2019 10:00

I've lost 1.5lb this week. It's been tough getting back in the "zone". 2 HIIT classes and low carbing seems to have kick started me. I will be having a couple of glasses of wine tonight whilat watching Strictly though. Everything in moderation. I don't want to be the thinner if it makes me grumpy and miserable, I want to remember to take time to enjoy myself as well. Just not 4 times a week! 🤷‍♀️😂

sheshootssheimplores · 07/09/2019 10:04

So I weighed in this morning and I’ve put on 3 lb lol 🤣

To be fair I’ve been EXTREMELY diligent the last 6 weeks with intermittent fasting and yesterday I fancied a day off. So it’s not a big surprise. I’m fasting again today so we’ll see what the scale says tomorrow.

LooseAtTheSeams · 07/09/2019 10:32

Vegan since January - don't find protein a problem but do have to keep an eye on calcium and I take a vegan multivitamin with calcium to top up.
Just staggered back from yoga. Not sure I actually have the energy to stand on the scales!

AndTheyLivedHappilyEverAfter · 07/09/2019 10:52

Weighed in this morning (after being good for 5 days) and only lost 1lb- gutted!! Definitely going to fast until my meal out tonight. I need to make sure I run at least 3 times next week to try and speed up loss.

HollyTheHarrier · 07/09/2019 11:04

@WoollyFoolly that charts looks amazing! Well done!

Well done others on weight loss too. I have stayed the same with my early morning weigh in which is good as that was a low and I have a tendency to bounce back up. After this morning’s run I had lost 0.6kg 😂 but that will be mostly water. Plan for today:
Breakfast: toast, peanut butter, banana
Brunch: homemade muffin
Lunch: egg and avocado sandwich

That leaves me 850 calories for dinner and snacks which I haven’t planned yet. Definitely doable, but being at home all day is dangerous!

CalmConfident · 07/09/2019 11:29

Reporting in...I have lost 1.1kg since last week! MFP plus IF (vary between 16:8 and 18:6). Result!

Wanderlusting99 · 07/09/2019 11:29

I started a little late on the 3rd, but scales today say 158lbs, which is 2.8lbs off since Tuesday so I'm happy with that (if it's real! time of the month so fluid levels can be a bit mad)

I'm not veggie or vegan currently, although I was veggie for 8 years, then not, then vegan for 18 months (which ended in needing a transfusion!) so I still like to eat at least half my meals vegan but I know it doesn't suit me as a full time plan sadly.

Ihatesundays · 07/09/2019 11:56

No change for me but lost 1.5ib this week which is great.

WallyIndie · 07/09/2019 12:32

Joining! Put on 10kg over the last 2 years after wedding and would like to lose it!
Weighed today at 68.8kg this morning.

Going to try to pick up running again as I haven't really been exercising, so did a 6km slow jog this morning :)

Started late...so aiming at least 2kg to lose for September!

Crazzzycat · 07/09/2019 13:18

@LooseAtTheSeams what vegan supplement are you using?

I’m not vegan, but have been vegetarian my entire adult life, plus I’m severely lactose intolerant. So the only animal products I eat are a small amount of lactose free cheese and the occasional egg.

And when it comes to protein goals, I think the MFP goals are flipping insane! I’m not a bodybuilder, so just stick with what the NHS recommends. I’ve lost 3 stone so far, so it seems to be working!

LooseAtTheSeams · 07/09/2019 13:52

@Crazzzycat it's the Holland and Barrett vegan one. The capsules are a lurid green colour!

cricketmum84 · 07/09/2019 13:52

@Crazzzycat I take a daily vegan and vegetarian multivitamin and a daily B12 both from H&B.

I stock up when the penny sale is on :)

WoollyFoolly · 07/09/2019 13:59

Ahhh I didn't realise the MFP goals were high, no wonder I never reach them! I've recalculated using the nhs 0.75g per kg body weight so mine is now 60g (MFP had 80g)

Lunch for today, smoked mackerel salad

WhoKnewBeefStew · 07/09/2019 14:00

What is MFP?

So today I'm going to be good food wise, but do plan a few glasses of wine tonight.

I'm also going to be 'dry' midweek as I think this has been my downfall and why I can't seem to loose weight. Is also responsible for my lack of will power re chocolate on an evening.

WoollyFoolly · 07/09/2019 14:01

My Fitness Pal - it's an app that you can enter your food into and it tracks calories

TimesAreHardForDreamers · 07/09/2019 15:43

1 week in and the scales say 11.7 (and 5/8) so lost just over 4lbs.
I'm guessing a lot of that was water and bloating from my period, but I'll take it! Now I've got to keep the momentum up next week when the scales slow down

cricketmum84 · 07/09/2019 15:56

Spent the afternoon baking and cake decorating - although I won't be eating any.

DD wanted to make a panda cake for her friends birthday. So guess who had to make a panda cake....

I'm quite happy for a first attempt though!

Today's food so far has been

B - 2 rice crackers with a hard boiled egg and a babybel light sliced on top. Sounds a bit weird but I had it the other day as that was what was in the fridge and I liked it, it's low calorie and high ish protein.

L - salad with avocado and mozzarella

Calories so far 336. Am going to a friend's for dinner and book club this evening, she has said we are having a mix of foods and that it will be healthy so hopefully healthy also means low calorie as I will also be drinking wine Grin

Am aiming to do a spin class before I go out too to make sure I can eat and drink as I would normally and still get a calorie deficit today.

whoknewbeedstew I am aiming to be dry Mon - Thurs this week. Wine is my downfall and we've had a very poorly dog this week which has led to midweek wine too!

Hope everyone is navigating the weekend ok!

HeroicAlien · 07/09/2019 17:01

Another person aiming to be dry midweek. I was dry Sunday to Wednesday of this week, and I'm sure it's why I've lost weight. Over indulged last night so having a night off tonight, and will try and keep that going for a few days.

Quite scary how much difference it makes, but I was definitely drinking too much over the summer, so cutting back is a good idea for many reasons - it just feels a bit wrong having Saturday night without a glass of wine!

Crazzzycat · 07/09/2019 17:22

@WoollyFoolly, MFP set my protein to140 grams a day! 😂

I think it’s so high because of the amount of time I spend exercising each day. But most of that is just going for walks, not anything I need to build a crazy amount of muscle for!

Crazzzycat · 07/09/2019 17:24

I love that cake @cricketmum84! It’s adorable.

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/09/2019 17:33

That's a fabulous Panda cake cricketmum I'm very impressed, and I'm impressed by your self control if you managed not to luck the bowl or sneak a few pieces of icing.

I weighed in this morning at 13st13lbs, which is one pound off this week. This is the first time I've been under 14st in 10 years! I've been low carbing, but haven't been massively strict about it. I'm not eating refined sugar, but still having small amounts of rice or pasta with my main meal.

My jeans and work trousers keep falling down, which is annoying. I'm not sure whether to buy new now, or put up with the falling down trousers until I lose a bit more so I can buy 2 sizes smaller. I don't want to waste money buying clothes I'll (hopefully) be too small for in a couple of months.

Wanderlusting99 · 07/09/2019 17:42

Love the panda cake!
