Link to previous thread here: Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!! http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3652424-half-a-stone-or-3kg-off-for-august

Morning all! Welcome to the half a stone loss challenge for September. All are welcome whatever plan or method you are following. I'm mainly following ww online with some intermittent fasting thrown in for good measure!

All I ask is that we continue the uplifting positivity and support seen on previous threads! We cheerlead each other, celebrate success and support through the harder times.

We had a great month in August with lots of losses. I don't know about you lot but the longer this goes on the more it feels like a way of life for me now rather than "being on a diet"?

Stats for me are:
Starting weight: 19st 13
Loss for August: 14lbs
Loss for 2019: 5 st 3lbs
Target for September: 10lbs off

Ready for September??

❤️❤️

The vegan nut free satay Kiev was literally the most disgusting thing I have ever put in my mouth.

I gave it to 15yo DS (affectionately named noo noo as he will hoover up anything) so my tea was 5 potato wedges. Serves me right for eating crap during the day!

@cricketmum84 - come on over - OH doesn't eat anything which isn't beige so I've got plenty left 😂

Your vegan kiev satay sounds, erm, intriguing...!!!

cricketmum84 · 04/09/2019 20:29

Haha oh god it was awful!! The soy "chicken" part of it was passable. However the stuff it was filled with just tasted and smelt like peanut butter. And if there's one thing I really really can't stand it's peanut butter. To the point I can't go near the kids if they have had it until they have brushed their teeth otherwise it makes me gag.

Stupidly I thought it wouldn't be nutty as it says nut free on the pack!

“named noo noo as he will hoover up anything”

That’s made my day @cricketmum84 Grin

crivit · 04/09/2019 21:52

@Lookingforpizza - absolutely. My motivation and general mood can flip flop in an instant. Unfortunately I don't have an answer for it but I can certainly empathise.

@cricketmum84 - I on other hand really like peanut butter... Who makes these comfort food sounding items?

I'm taking a small win tonight. I made some pasta for dinner but overestimated the amount. Probably around 20% more than a decent serving so not enough for lunch tomorrow. I thought 'sod it, dont want to waste it so I suppose I'll eat it now'. However, my sensible self stepped in and decided that although it's not enough for a lunch, it is enough to have as part of a salad type lunch. The leftovers are therefore in the fridge rather than my stomach 😎

cricketmum84 · 04/09/2019 22:22

@crivit it's by a company called squeezy beans. Found them in Asda :) x

cricketmum84 · 04/09/2019 22:23

Nope totally wrong.... squeaky beans!!!

@ScoobyCan that salad looks lush!
I had a swim once DH got in from work but then had an aero afterwards. Not a good choice, but been really good the rest of the day so I’ll forgive myself.
Mental note: stop ‘rewarding’ myself with junk food. I need to find something else.

CumbrianExile · 04/09/2019 23:04

Evening.

Weigh in day today and I came in at 13st3.5. Considering there was much cake I cany complain about a 1/2lb gain.

Game face on for tomorrow. B baked porridge oats, lunch sw bolognese and dinner is quorn chicken nuggets and salad.

Blondebakingmumma · 05/09/2019 03:55

Hi all!
Love reading everyone’s updates and meal plans.
@hopefully sourdough is very tempting to binge when it tastes so damn good

Good start today. I over shot my 16 hour fast by 1 1/2 hours because I was busy with the school run and errands.

Broke my fast with

Slice of sourdough with egg
White coffee
Grilled haloumi

Will have a banana if I get hungry before dinner. I eat very earl with the kids 4ish and then close my eating window at 5

Blondebakingmumma · 05/09/2019 03:57

Forgot to add my weigh in

SW 65.1kg
CW 63.2kg
GW 55kg
September GW 61

I suspect I’ve lost a lot of water weight. But better to not carry excess fluids I guess ☺️

Tanaqui · 05/09/2019 05:58

Almost didn't check in this morning as I had an absolute disaster (food wise!) last night. Ate my dinner - salad, smoked salmon, gf bread- so, good. Then, over the evening ate cereal, toast, crackers, peanuts, sesame seeds, flapjack, an entire pint of ice cream, a cinnamon bun, chocolate and possibly more I have forgotten. I literally cannot understand how it fitted in my stomach. And I could get it if I'd been really low cal the last few days, but I've had a bad few days! I should not have been hungry. And as I ate I was saying why am I doing this?! Argh!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 05/09/2019 06:33

an entire pint of ice cream

So it wasn’t just me then.

I also think I need to move my mindset from “reward” after fasting to “just eat normally”

So the model for my foods going forward for the rest of the month is going to be

B: Fruit and Fibre
L: Soup and Bread/Sandwich/Toastie
D: one of our usual teas so lasagne, homemade pizza, and at the weekend hot dog/burger
P: apple pie and custard now winter is here in Scotland Grin

All veggie now, not that it makes a squeak of difference. 10kg of saturated fat is still veggie as is 1kg if chocolate and a quarter ton of Wotsits.

historysock · 05/09/2019 06:38

Had a great day yesterday until had to go out for a friends birthday. Figured I would just have a salad and a gin and slim but the place we went to only had cheese, charcuterie and wine!
At least it was all Keto friendly (except the wine Sad-two glasses).
Feel really bloated and sluggish this morning...

HollyTheHarrier · 05/09/2019 06:59

Weight slightly down today but still up on September starting weight. Fingers crossed this direction of travel continues! Plan for today:
Yoghurt with dried fruit/nuts
Chicken avocado salad

Not sure about dinner yet, probably more chicken as I have some that will need eating! Planning to run tonight after work

Hopefully · 05/09/2019 07:00

Haven't stepped on the scales this morning as I stayed at friends, but I feel awful - bloated and bleurgh. Ate late, ate too much (although healthy - salmon, quinoa and tons of veg then greek yog for pudding, but way too much fish and grain). Also my period really needs to show up - it occasionally comes late, but it feels like the PMT/bloaty/comfort eating bit just drags on and on indefinitely when it does.

I've decided, as a halfway measure to calorie counting, to keep a strict food diary, so I record every single thing that goes in my mouth. I know that I'm killing my diet with a mouthful here and there every time I walk through the kitchen, and I'm going to start writing it all down so I can't be in denial. Also need to drink more, which I'm going to record in my food diary too.

Paullhollywood I have definitely also developed a 'reward for fasting' mindset. I really really want to get back into fasting working for me, but every day at the moment I am breaking fast, then literally standing in the kitchen shovelling in extra bits of food because I 'deserve' it after fasting all night. I actually worry it's verging on a binge eating mindset.

orangeshoebox · 05/09/2019 07:17

I'm convinced my scales are lying.
not really, but it's not nice to be reminded this way of an otherwise great summer

cricketmum84 · 05/09/2019 07:31

FFS back up to 20st this morning after 19s since the start of September!!!! Like I know I didn't do great yesterday but I hardly ate enough to gain 2lbs!!!!!

DH is saying it's because I'm not eating so then when I eat "normally" I'm gaining. He also says my eating is "disordered" just Cos I'm not scoffing 2 sandwiches a day plus a massive tea. He doesn't understand that I just don't have his metabolism!!

Skipping breakfast today, then I have some carrot sticks and low fat hummous for lunch. Dinner is roast pork for the meat eaters, I'm having a couple of mushroom sausages with a mini Yorkshire pudding, some broccoli and some onion gravy.

Hope everyone has a lovely day! X

Weighed in at 12st 12lb this morning, delighted! Only 5 more lbs to go before I'm officially not overweight!
Also have a bit of a (nice) dilemma. We're having family photos done next month (birthday present for MIL). My clothes are all baggy on me now, I've decided I'd really like to buy a nice new dress for the photo to celebrate weight loss so far. I don't feel like I know what to look for and what would suit me. I've spent so long buying clothes just because I could fit in them without looking too pregnant or because they disguised my massive stomach. Argh! Anyone want to find me a lovely size 16 dress?

Millie2017 · 05/09/2019 07:41

Did a mid week weigh in and I seem to have got away with the aero.
@Tanaqui you could try clearing out some of the treats (not necessarily bin it - our food bank take most of the stuff in packets). Or not replacing it. I keep ice lollies for the kids, but I have stopped getting the tubs. Restrict your ability and temptation to binge. I also find if I eat a lot the night before, I’m ‘starving’ the next day. Which leads to more eating. It’s a cycle.
Plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits
L. Stuffed mushroom and a poached egg
D. Fish and vegetables
Might try and go out for a walk after DH gets in, but will be the third time this week he’s spent the evening alone on the sofa, so will have to see how he feels. Have a good day everyone.

Ihatesundays · 05/09/2019 07:57

Another 0.2kg taking me to 74.6, and that’s a whole 0.5kg this week alone - my best week yet!

Going out for lunch but won’t be anything that bad.

cricketmum84 · 05/09/2019 08:38

@Tanaqui that's a very hungry caterpillar kind of evening!

Draw a line, start again. One day isn't going to ruin the whole month x

@Hopefully and @PaulHollywoodsSexGut I don’t keep any snack or treat food in the house because I have no control 😂
There is always the risk of over eating bread though. The fabulous thing with IF is if you feast too much you can then follow up with a longer fast. Or shorten your eating window if you find you are eating too much. A friend of mine has been OMAD (One Meal a Day) for years. She looks and feels wonderful. She says she can eat whatever she wants in her eating window without guilt and doesn’t put on weight. IF is pretty flexible ☺️ Not sure I’m ready to shorten my window yet 😂

bluebeck · 05/09/2019 09:34

woolly Something like this? Or is that too much of a pattern for you?

cricket don't worry it will be gone by tomorrow. There's something in the air! I went from 11:10 to 11:7 overnight last night (which is what I was 5 days ago)

Have a good day everyone. I am getting my hair and eyebrows done.

Ahardknocklife · 05/09/2019 09:36

1st time check in. It's been a hectic week to start my first diet what with starting a new job! So having had 2 dinners out (zizzi 600cal pizzas), I've been sticking to oats and blueberries in the morning, small healthy lunches and have taken to doing a 12 mins Ab exercise daily and attempting to fit 6000 steps into my daily routine. I weighed this morning at 11st 11lb having started on Sunday at 12st 3lb.

Big thank you to all you lovely ladies for keeping me motivated with your meal plans, exercise and general chit chat. It's amazing to see how you're all doing so well even with some non diet days chucked in.
