Fizog · 20/09/2004 17:03

Forestfly - I've just started that journal - it has really motivated me!!!

JuniperDewdrop · 20/09/2004 18:08

I've started it too

Dingle · 20/09/2004 18:12

Just done mine, OH DEAR, not a very balanced diet today.Hardly eaten anything. (yet)

JuniperDewdrop · 20/09/2004 18:13

nutcracker · 20/09/2004 18:18

Am absolutly crap at sticking to anything so need help.

Also have now got tae bo dvd, have watched it but not done it yet

twogorgeousboys · 20/09/2004 18:25

MancMum, have just read your "Hattie Jaques in satin" comment and I cannot stop laughing (cos that's what I'd look like if someone asked me to don a bridesmaid dress).

Dingle · 20/09/2004 18:25

No wonder I feel like death warmed up- I've had 475 calories today (19 fat,55 carb,21 protein) and used at least 106 calories up!
Not had dinner yet.
DH is after fish & chips from the chippy, just glared at him!

Rowlers · 20/09/2004 18:41

Can I join the club?
I've never joined a club before!
Do I have to tell anyone how much I weigh?
Do I have to actually diet?
I've just started going to the gym again after having DD 6 months ago.
I've stopped (well almost) drinking alcohol but am CRAP at drinking slimming soups and stuff. Can I just have smaller portions and no sweet stuff?
Who's in charge here??!?!?!
Please let me in!
I would like to lost 2 and a half stone but have never lost more than 1/2 stone at any one time before. Am I being totally unrealistic?

Is that right?

I have no idea who is in charge but it really shouldn't be me. How about every tuesday
we post how much we have lost and whoever has the biggest drop we copy their diet. Easy.
Also i think we should have something as a reward, to aim for. Perhaps a present for the person who does the best. That would make it competitive.
Just need to think of a diet now.

libb · 20/09/2004 19:00

I will do the post every Tuesday if you like? do we need to know exact goals? should we set an exact cut off date such as the 10th December maybe? According that link you posted I have about 37lbs to lose! yoiks - won't be looking at that one again.

(ps: I only really lose weight when loaded down with anguish of some kind so this will be a challenge! I think I might get everyone at work to sponsor me for each pound lost and then choose a charity so I have no excuses - what do you think?)

libb · 20/09/2004 19:01

and I won't buy anything from Fatface until I do - now that is a challenge!

Shiraz · 20/09/2004 19:16

Right i am going to Boots tomorrow to weigh mysef, thats if i don;t have time to hunt out soem scales!

Tomorrow for me is a red day (slimming world original/red/meat day) mmmmmmmmmmm!

So i will put my start weight on here tomorrow then post my weight on Tuesday next week!

Good luck ladies, I've been really good today! Just need the slimming world password for the website so i can check syn values throughout the week!

Rowlers · 20/09/2004 19:32

Does anyone else find though that their weight varies by up to half a stone depending on time of the month? I never really know what I actually weigh. Should I just take the heaviest and use that as my bench mark? Anyone know?

KateandtheGirls · 20/09/2004 19:41

I do vary quite a lot. The first week I did WW I gained 2 pounds. I kind of lost any steam I had after that.

This past week I have been a total pig, hardly exercised, yet am down 1lb on last week. Doesn't make any sense.

I think if you just weigh yourself once a week, at the same time (i.e. first thing in the morning), there will be some fluctuation, but you'll also see an overall trend after a while.

On South Beach you are supposed to lose quite rapidly the first 2 weeks, so I don't know if I'll be able to wait until a week from now to weigh myself again!

Chinchilla · 20/09/2004 19:44

Please can I join too? I have 3.5 stones to lose (or 3 to take me to 9st). I am 5' 3" and weigh 12st 1lb (or I did at my first WW weigh-in on 9th Sept). I then had a week's holiday in Cornwall, so I don't know how well I've done. I have stuck to it since I got back, so hope to lose a couple of pounds by Thursday am (weigh day).

Good luck everyone.

vict17 · 20/09/2004 19:57

Can I join too? I would like to lose a stone but half a stone would be fabitty-fab to begin with My downfalls are alcohol, binge eating and pot noddles

vict17 · 20/09/2004 19:57

oh, and chinese takeaways - the shame!

JuA · 20/09/2004 20:00

I would like to join in too. I am thinking about joining WW online - but I need to buy a set of scales first! I went to the gym this morning and am hoping to manage to go twice a week but it depends on dh shifts as he has to look after dd

MancMum · 20/09/2004 20:29

Ok just had quick read of this and am going to declare publicly for first time that my name is MancMum and I weigh 11.5 stones and I need to drop at least 2 of that, preferably off my ass as the bridesmaid dress is designed to make bride (all 8.5 stone and 6' of her) look as great as possible... and I am really helping with a bum you could serve the buffet off....

I am going for a South Manchester Beach style diet - ie no crap carbs but still some booze on a Friday... and exercise ... want to try to take up running... ForestFly - how close are you to 'prod' me.. impressed with your gym plans...

twogorgeousboys · 20/09/2004 20:40

My diet is a bit odd, but its been working for me for about 5 weeks and so far I've lost 10lbs.

Basically, I've stopped eating "meals" as such and instead, have a series of small snacks throughout the day, whenever I feel hungry.

The one exception is breakfast, which is either porridge (same as children) or (if I am organised enough; grilled bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms and poached egg.

Eg of snacks:

a couple of bits of fruit

some crispbreads and reduced fat cheese plus grapes

a tin of soup

wholemeal roll, low fat spread, ham & salad

Joining in with this group will be a good motivator, it's hard doing it on your own isn't it!

Alized · 20/09/2004 21:00

If anyone is interested I have just lost 25lbs.

Ive done this by following W.W. Found it quiet easy as I can eat anything including CHOCOLATE.

This is my second time doing W.W. After my first child I went to classes but this time doind it at home. Your also allowed extra points for breast feeding.

Ive got 7lbs to go.

if a chocaholic can do this so can you. (smile)

KateandtheGirls · 20/09/2004 21:22

MancMum, I like the sound of the South Manchester Beach diet! I have to say I can't imagine getting the whole of the way through 2 weeks without any booze.

Furball · 20/09/2004 21:36

Alized - Joined WW tonight, compete novice, so any tips would be great. Well done to you for your loss, heres to your next half stone

Chinchilla · 20/09/2004 21:36

Alized - how can you manage chocolate on WW? Isn't it 1.5 points for 2 squares? Would love to know please.

Alized · 20/09/2004 21:51

Hi Chinchilla

Curlywurlys great only 2.5 points. you can put it in freezer and suck of the chocolate. Also like Ripples at 3.5 points.

Hi Furball

Eat lots of no point foods like salad or veg.
Do a lot of walking to gain extra points.
If Ive had my chocolate the eat Asdas cheap jellies for extra sweat intake they are sugar free. rowentrees tooo fattening.

By something a size smaller and keep trying it on untill it fits. Good luck to you both
