color, you could try using the journal that Forsetfly put a link in to.

I've been using it for a few days now and it's very enlightening. Evenings are my worst time for overeating but I am trying to make an effort to eat my main meal later in the evening so there's not such a long period of time between eating and going to bed.

I'm no good a rhymes but if someone can think of one, I'll give it a go too.

JuniperDewdrop · 23/09/2004 13:16

totally agree with the journal fizgog. It's opened my eyes to the calories I was consuming. I've just eaten one of DS2s home made cookies and I won't have another now I'm wiser. It sounds daft and I am nutritionally aware, it's just when it's there in black and white it wakes you up. Dykwim?

Day 3 and doing ok. Have lost almost 2lbs. Fitday keeping me on the straight & narrow so far - logging food eaten + weight loss every day.Told DH diet has started so he ate a magnum in front of me last night!! Need to concentrate every sec. of the day otherwise resolve broken. Shopping tomorrow, good incentive to keep going. Honestly, its only day 3- you'd think I'd been starving myself for weeks!! Color I've given myself a target of losing 32lbs by xmas. It is achievable - only 2.8lbs per week. How about you?

KateandtheGirls · 23/09/2004 14:42

That journal is really good, I agree.

I'm on day 4 of South Beach. So far I have lost 3 pounds in 3 days. I don't know if that's just random fluctuation though.

I'm starting to get a little bored. I used to love eating ham and eggs for breakfast (when it was a treat), but knowing that's pretty much all you can have makes it seem less appealing. I'm definitely not hungry, and I don't think I'm craving carbs particularly, but I feel a little odd. Slighty lightheaded and headachey. I guess that's the carb withdrawal, and hopefully that will go within the next few days. I do intend to stick to it, although I might have to have a beer or glass of wine this weekend!

Forestfly, how's the soup and water diet going? I KNOW I couldn't stick to that.

Keep up the good work ladies.

Forestfly · 23/09/2004 14:47

I have a confession - I am already eyeing up the ultimate advent calender - full of Kinder choccie goodness. DS was impressed, he isn't even weaned but I could tell he wanted to be right there and then.

I will be getting that calender - believe me.

that journal thing is great. Does anyone know what a 'good' pie chart should look like? Found the pyramid table, but can't mentally convert to pie chart.

Very visually strong image to see my little weight dot firmly in the 'overweight'. I've got 13 weeks & 2 days to reach my target (that's Christmas btw) - .75 kilos a week.

I may not feel more motivated, but I do like the charts & technology

twogorgeousboys · 23/09/2004 18:54

Yes, forestfly, thanks so much for the journal, absolutely brilliant. Think I may become completely engrossed and obsessed by the fat/carb/protein pie chart!

Have been doing ok,last couple of days, but must try not to weigh myself until next Tuesday.

Still doing the 1 meal (breakfast) and then small snacks throughout day thing which is working for me.

twogorgeousboys · 23/09/2004 18:55

I wondered this too ernest. I have it in a book somewhere, will try to dig out and post later.

Shiraz · 23/09/2004 20:15

Biying my new weighing scales tomorrow, haven;t made it to boots this week to weigh myself as e've been too busy! But i've been very very good, and sticking to the slimming world eating plan! Just won a bargain swish, top of the range exercise bike on ebay, worth $825, bought for £50.00! Dp wore my elliptical trainer out just before i had dd!..ooh i am very very determined now!! Becsxx

Forestfly · 23/09/2004 20:19

I am clearly not focussed like what you lot are . . .

Fizog · 24/09/2004 09:52

God I'm miserable today - craving bread like you wouldn't believe

Still I swam 40 lengths this morning and haven't eaten yet but I am hungry!! I walked into work and someone was eating an apple

Today is going to be tough!

ernest · 24/09/2004 10:08

what's wrong with an apple? I'm not big on fruit, but just choked one down & was feeling virtuous!

one big complaint though, I am completely hooked & obsessed by that journal thingy, esp the report - am I burning off more calories than I'm consuming. I'll have to leave mumsnet soon......

btw, what do you do when you feel ill & have 2 sick kids? Tv is getting very boring

JuniperDewdrop · 24/09/2004 10:22

Fizgog, hope you've eaten by now. You'll feel even more miserable if you don't hun x

I had a very good day yesterday according to my journal so if I keep this up should lose a lb or 2

how's everyone else doing? I love this journal (have I already said that? ) it's making me think before I eat!

JuniperDewdrop · 24/09/2004 10:23

Oh and my trampette came today and I'll burn calories just setting it up!

JuniperDewdrop · 24/09/2004 10:25

ernest, I snuggle under the duvet and watch videos in between cleaning up and fetching and carrying after them.

hugs to all the ernests xx

ernest · 24/09/2004 10:33

juniperdewdrop . I went to get one yesterday, paid & everything, was made to return to car to check would fit (dragging 3 kids back & forth) then they said they'd sold out

spikeycat · 24/09/2004 10:40

how much is 10.5 stone in pounds or kilgrams, and can I join in please, still have not lost my big fat flabby baby tum and am feeling depressed. Am going back to work too and none of my suits fit! Help!!!

JuniperDewdrop · 24/09/2004 10:51

awwwwwww ernest

I had to buy mine online. where did u try to get yours from?

ernest · 24/09/2004 12:49

spikeycat, 10.5 stone is about 66.7 kilos or 147 lb. I'm 64.5 kilos and my goal is 55.

Juniperdewdrop, maybe this is stupid - I wemnt to toysrus - becasue they had a bigger one. i could've got a normal size one which is about 1 m across, but the one in toysrus was 1.22. Doesn't sound much but was a much nicer size, especially if the kids want to bounce too. So help me decide, I could get a normal one (suitable up to 100 kilos) now, or I could wait for toysrus to get the larger one in, suitable up to 80 kilos. Dh is firmly in the 'you get what you pay for' camp, and hates it when I buy cheap stuff, so do I go for the smaller, more expensive, or wait for the larger cheaper one??

Spikeycat, I recommend forestfly's addictive web link.

Juniperdewdrop, have you played with your new toy yet? Is it good?

JuA · 24/09/2004 14:27

How are things going?
Hope you are feeling better Fizog.
Yesterday was an OK day for me... but I couldn't be bothered going to the gym when dh got in from
work.
Today is better - I have been to the gym and have had cereal for breakfast and soup and salad for lunch. I just hope I can keep it up over the weekend.

KateandtheGirls · 24/09/2004 15:43

Fizog, part of the idea of the South Beach diet is that you DO eat regularly. So you should have eaten something before the swim and then a snack after. You're not supposed to feel hungry.

I haven't felt hungry but a couple of days ago I felt decidedly lousy. (I think as a result of carb withdrawal.) Try and stick with it though. I'm on day 5 and I feel much better now.

I am getting sick of eggs, cheese and meat. (I never thought I would say that.) I feel as though I'm eating a crappy diet even though I am losing weight.

One thing I have been having every morning, which I'm enjoying more than I thought I would is V8 vegetable juice (do you have that in the UK?). I doctor it up a little by adding a squeeze of lemon or lime juice, a couple of drops of Worcestershire sauce, and a shake of celery salt, and drink it over ice. A Virgin Mary in other words. Yum. It tastes good, tastes healthy, and does have some of the allowable carbs so it does get you going. Fizog, do you think you could drink that in the morning even if you don't want to eat?

Fizog · 24/09/2004 15:52

Kate, ate my breakfast shortly after the post. I didn't feel hungry in the morning so didn't eat I haven't felt hungry all day since but I really miss bread.

If anything I feel slightly bloated all that time, are you finding that?

I haven't been able to cut out caffiene completely but have cut down to two espresso's a day and 2 cups of black tea (I know that's still quite a lot of caffiene but have been craving like mad) I have to find things to distract me unti l I'm next 'allowed' a cup of coffee.

I now understand what it is like for people trying to give up nicotine!

I feel really miserable today - with no reason, I wonder if that has something to do with my sudden change of diet??

Fizog · 24/09/2004 15:55

Ps yes we have v8, I don't mind it actually. Have used it in vegetable soups too.
