Weight Watchers works - can do it on internet - don't have to sit in a class with lots of people discussing your weight. I've just started this week - aim 1.5 stone. Have lost 3.5 stone as I put on 5 stone in pregnancy - want to get to half stone heavier than I was before as I was too thin - never thought I'd say that - but realise it now I'm heavier.

Well done Shiraz

fairyfly · 04/10/2004 16:59

Well done! I am loosing heart now, need a kick, sticking to the gym, really working hard but don't feel any lighter, who knows

Fizog · 04/10/2004 17:16

Fairlyfly - don't loose heart! muscles is denser than fat so if you're really work out hard then you are unlikely to feel lighter but I promise you, you will look more toned even if you don't loose any/too much weight. It depends what type of exercise you are doing - do you have a prgramme designed by the gym?

Ps. I've lost nothing (again) so have just joined weight watchers and am going to switch from south beach to that as of tomorrow!

fairyfly · 04/10/2004 17:25

I am doing more than my programme about 40 minutes cardiovascular, and 40 minutes weights. Do feel healthy though, and tons more energy.
May join ww online people seem to reccomend it so much.
Wonder why south beach didn't work fizog, strange

ernest · 05/10/2004 09:08

Ok, so I'm 64.6 instead of 65.3, so that's 1.5 lb give or take. Not brilliant, but at least a step in the right direction. I got my trampette the other day. it really is great. Too early to say for sure, as still in the first flush of excitement, but it does seem to be very addictive. I've got it up all the time, so every time I go in the room I have a coupl eof minutes bounce, but have also stuck to 20 minutes a day ( only had it 2 days mind!) plus 10 minutes of ab exercises, so feel suitably achey.

Hope you all had a good week, good luck with ww forestfly, & well done to you, Shiraz.

MancMum · 05/10/2004 09:27

well back on track 4lb down - and 16 to go... I will look good in satin, I will look good in satin...

JuniperDewdrop · 05/10/2004 09:45

11st 7lb, so I've lost 1lb

notadrop · 05/10/2004 11:09

3lbs off this week - thats 8 in total. A step in the right direction!

Furball · 05/10/2004 11:19

1 1/2 off for me! So 5 1/2 off for me in total - Problem was, I hadn't eaten tea and then went and stuffed me face at TGI Fridays.

Fingers crossed for this week everyone. GOOD LUCK! [thin faced smiley]

fairyfly · 05/10/2004 11:24

2 Ib, actually really p'd off, i haven't the patience for this. I would loose 2ib in a week not going to the gym. I presumed it would be fallling off. Anyone any ideas for a week intense dieting before i loose all motivation. 2ib in all this time is is shocking!

Furball · 05/10/2004 11:30

Are you eating sort of the same, just doing your exercises?

I asked my WW lady last week about earning 'bonus ponints' and she said bonus points could only be earnt AFTER you had already done 10,000 steps or the equiviallent of recommended daily exercise. - This obviously applies to, not only WW, but everybody. Quite soul destroying when you think about it! Even though some, has to be better than none.

fairyfly · 05/10/2004 11:42

I am eating small meals, no bread, pasta, no cheese butter etc. Must try harder nd think of more things to give up

Fizog · 05/10/2004 13:18

FairyFly - I doubt you'll lose too much weight quickly if you are doing 40 minutes weights each time you go the gym - you are toning. You will look better and your clothes will feel loser bbut you might actually not lose any weight.

ernest · 05/10/2004 13:36

fairyfly - buy the book ' the food doctor diet' and stick to his 1 week intensive & then his general advice - great. I lost 2 lb per day - didn't feel too clever tho', but the weight stayed off. After the initial week, just slow, gentle loss & healthy diet. he says what is best to eat at which meal etc. Very good

fairyfly · 05/10/2004 13:41

Ernest i am going to a book shop later as it happens, so i will look out for it. Cheers

ernest · 05/10/2004 14:08

it's published by dk. it's great. for life not just temp weight loss I reckon

KateandtheGirls · 05/10/2004 14:44

I lost 1lb the past week, so 5lb altogether. Given that I have been following South Beach intermittently I'm quite happy to have lost anything. I've come to realise that there is no way I can do it absolutely by the book for 2 weeks - social situations, not to mention cravings, get in the way. But even on those days when I'm not doing it strictly I have been tending to do a low carb thing. For example I went out for dinner on Saturday. I only had one bite of the bread, and with my main course I got veggies instead of potatoes. We had a few beers, but they were low carb beers.

So my (revised) plan is to stick to it as much as possible, especially during the week, and when I don't to try to stick to low carb / good carb items as much as possible. I'll also keep checking my weight, so at the first sign that it might be shifting upwards I can be stricter.

Chinchilla · 05/10/2004 18:29

Furball - I read my WW booklet and assumed that the bonus points are for any exercise, not just once you have done 10,000 steps. I have been giving them to myself (1 point for a slow 15min walk, and 1.5 for a brisk 15 min walk), and have still lost weight...so far!

PuffTheMagicDragon · 05/10/2004 18:48

Lost half a pound this week, so 4lbs total. Am trying to be philosophical as I wish it were more, but its still in the right direction.

What I haven't done this week is drink enough water. Last week I had a litre bottle out in the kitchen and took a big swig every time I was passing. Must get back on track with this.

Well done everyone this week.

Fairyfly, don't lose heart with the exercise, the all round benefits you are feeling are really worth it. You have inspired me to dust off my exercise bike and get on it this week!

Puff (formerly 2gb)

fairyfly · 05/10/2004 18:57

well as long as you bike then how can i possibly stop, i'm only disheartened because the man of my dreams must have been a figment of my imagination

Furball · 05/10/2004 20:05

Chinchilla - I assumed the same, but the WW lady said not Not that it affects me mind
