Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Thanks all for the encouragement the walk went really well. Wasn't too steep and I really enjoyed it! Keen to do more hikes now.

Sitting in the garden with a cuppa planning which parkrun to do tomorrow. I'm lucky that i have about 5 less than half an hour away. And loads more within an hour. Am doing a challenge to do lots of different ones before the end of the year so planning on a further away one tomo. Anyone else doing parkrun tomo?

@lookingforpizza that's always the danger isn't it going shopping when hungry!

@millie2018 I had been going to wear Jean's but switched to leggings with denim shorts over on your advice.

Good work! I’m jealous, as been in with the kids most of the day. You’ve inspired me to carve out some time this weekend for a long walk.

sheshootssheimplores · 02/08/2019 19:57

Ooh I’d love to be 10 stone 10!!!

I’m 11 stone 8 at the moment abd would like to get back down to 10 stone 3.

Millie2017 · 02/08/2019 20:40

I swear my husband is trying to sabotage me tonight. He just opened a pack of 2 cupcakes and offered me one. I turned it down.
Then he says ‘ooooh there’s still some fudge left, do you want some?’. Urrrrm no! He’s now scoffing fudge.
I’m closing the kitchen. Pretty much stuck to plan. I did have a yoghurt for pudding with the kids, but it was only 80 calories.

AdventureTravelDreamer · 02/08/2019 20:54

Glad you had a good time @DaisyChainsGetBroken, it looks lovely. We have a parkrun virtually on our doorstep, I can literally see the runners from my bedroom window and DD has just asked me if I will run with her in the morning! The emotional blackmail will probably make me go for a plod along despite being very slow!! She has set herself a target of getting to a 30 min parkrun before she goes back to school and my pb (not that I've done many!) is 36 mins so she will no doubt ditch before the first km is done!

AdventureTravelDreamer · 02/08/2019 20:55

Well done @Millie2017, that is great willpower!!

HollyTheHarrier · 02/08/2019 21:35

Checking in. Weight is static at 61.8kg. I find sometimes my weight jumps up and down like a jack in the box and other times it stays stubbornly unchanged for days?! It’s so bonkers. Anyway, today has been a weak willed day food wise. I ran 4 miles and did body pump so i’m still just about ok on net calories. @DaisyChainsGetBroken I will hopefully do parkrun tomorrow too

Daisychainsgetbroken · 02/08/2019 22:29

@AdventureTravelDreamer doesn't matter what your time is, just doing it is fab Smile my time goes up and down and I'll prob be fairly slow tomorrow but never mind. @hollytheharrier enjoy your run! I can reccomend the firefox extension thing for parkrun gives you extra challenges and you can play stopwatch bingo at any speed!

I ate far too many crisps with hummus this eve. They are these "healthy" crisps but I dont think they really are that healthy. I need to stop buying them as I can devour them and basically use them as a spoon to eat a tub of Hindus.

I like the idea of "closing the kitchen" that is a good mental thought process.

Daisychainsgetbroken · 02/08/2019 22:29

Hummus. Not Hindus. Blush sorry. Auto correct. Blush

LooseAtTheSeams · 02/08/2019 23:40

Weighed in this morning at 70.2 kg but won't have a chance to weigh myself again for a week as we're away on holiday. Food wise have done well today apart from celebratory glass of wine!

cricketmum84 · 03/08/2019 05:17

@Millie2017 my husband does this a lot. He's a bigger for opening crisps or chocolate and then putting them in the middle of us!!

Day 3 and I hope we are all going strong?

We fly home tonight so I'm in a right old sulk and desperately need to finish packing but instead am sat out on the balcony procrastinating until DH wakes up.

Yesterday I had a very small traditional Bulgarian pastry thing for breakfast, then didn't eat again until 8pm when I ordered a fish speciality, basically few different types of shellfish in a creamy sauce with potatoes and peppers and topped with cheese. I managed about 1/3 as it was too rich for me, plus I couldn't eat the dawns Cos they had heads and legs and were looking at me.... had 2 margaritas while we were out and a couple of small g&ts on the balcony when we got home plus about 5 crisps. I had bought myself a rocky road ice cream but I gave it to my daughter.

Happy Saturday everyone. Stay strong, I know weekends are always where I fall down a little on the diet!

@cricketmum84 safe trip home.end of hols are always a bit sad!

@LooseAtTheSeams have a good holiday! How often would you usually weigh yourself? I'm trying not to do it too often because I get a bit obsessed and then disheartened by every day natural fluctuations

AdventureTravelDreamer · 03/08/2019 07:38

Enjoy the last day of your hols @cricketmum84 Smile

I am up and in my running gear already as I can regularly talk myself out of going to parkrun and thought if I just got into running gear straight away I am less likely to back out!!

Off to visit a friend for lunch today. No idea where we are going as he has moved town so I am not at all familiar with where he now lives but have decided I am going to just choose whatever I want (within reason!), only drink sparkling water and the have a veggie omelette with salad for dinner. That way I am hoping to still be in a calorie deficit for the day.

Have a good weekend everyone Smile

inboxmayhem · 03/08/2019 07:44

Waves! I'm in. Lost half a stone in July and want to achieve the same for August.

Following SW which seems to work for me. I do 80/20 rule as eat out a lot.

Looking forward to hearing everyone else's journey.

Millie2017 · 03/08/2019 08:32

Morning all. I’m feeling pleased with resisting temptation yesterday and it showed on the scales today. I think DH doesn’t want to feel like a piglet eating by himself. I understand that, but he’s managed to lose a stone and a half since Christmas without much trying.
Anyway, he’s looking after the kids this morning while I head off to a keep fit class. Food plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits
L. Beef sandwich with salad
D. Mushroom stir fry

Snacks: plenty of fruit
Have a good day everyone

HollyTheHarrier · 03/08/2019 08:38

Decided to sack off parkrun in favour of mowing the lawn and sorting the house generally. Half marathon tomorrow and my legs are aching so am going to rest. Contemplating heading to the gym for a sauna first. Will decide after my second coffee ☕️

Fluffiest · 03/08/2019 08:40

Opps, I have gained a lb. Not a great start but its that time of the month which explains my chocolate binging, lethargy and poor sleep.

DH is off sea fishing all day today (its a once a year gathering with a bunch of his mates) so it's just me and DD today. I'm going to try and stay on the move and to eat salad and soup.

Time to refocus!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 03/08/2019 08:57

78.4kg today, am content with that.

Tonight I download the couch to 5K app; the old NHS one with Laura is gone now, can anyone recommend a replacement?

LooseAtTheSeams · 03/08/2019 08:58

Fluffiest that's nothing - 1 lb will melt away again!
Did my run/walk this morning - feeling very virtuous but fear food temptations will have to be resisted!

Ihatesundays · 03/08/2019 10:47

No change bit I lost a pound yesterday so no surprise

Hungry this morning though! 1 hour till lunch

Daisychainsgetbroken · 03/08/2019 11:03

@paulhollywoodssexgut unless it is a very very recent removal then laura is still there as an option on the app for me. I use it occasionally when I have slipped and am struggling to run.

Got up at 6 to drive to a seaside town to do their parkrun today. Beautiful but tiny event. Desperately trying to resist seaside foods now ha!

@HollyTheHarrier wow if you are doing a half marathon tomo then no pr was def a wise choice. Good luck.

HollyTheHarrier · 03/08/2019 11:11

Thanks daisy I run a lot so a steady parkrun would normally be ok before a half. Sadly I have a habit of eating all the biscuits straight after haha. Well done for making it to parkrun!

sheshootssheimplores · 03/08/2019 13:14

Doing amazingly well so far. I’ve lost seven pounds now. I keep looking at my weighing scale app in amazement 🤩

Dyrne · 03/08/2019 18:13

Well done to everyone for the losses!

And I am impressed at all those doing Parkrun today. I darent go at the moment, but I went out yesterday and completed the dreaded Week5 Run3 of C25K, which I managed to plod my way round; so hopefully in a few weeks I’ll be ready to try Parkrun!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut i’m Surprised they’ve got rid of it! I downloaded the actual Podcast so i’ve Got Laura encouraging me and the NHS’ cheesy music, which is surprisingly motivating!

Scales have been very slow this week, which is frustrating as i’ve been under 1200 calories every day. Am keeping away from the scales this weekend, hoping I’ll be pleasantly surprised on Monday with a big “whoosh”!

Dyrne · 03/08/2019 18:14

Also meant to say AdventureTravelDreamer it’s so lovely that you exercise with your daughter, what a lovely bonding time!
