Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Hello! I am determined to do this this month- I've been away from the scales for a month but am back on Tuesday and will weigh then. Was 66kg but suspect have gained :(. Am thinking 16:8 but wondering if I could bear fast 800- how are people finding that? Will I be unbearable?

LooseAtTheSeams · 01/08/2019 07:24

Pleased to say I've started the month on 70.5 kg. Just trying to wake up enough to go for a run.
cricket's inspirational motto very much works for me. I am slowly heading towards my target. Good luck everyone!

WizzyWanta · 01/08/2019 07:30

I'm in!
Hit my mid-forties and the weight is creeping on. Determined to get a grip before it spirals out of control.
I need to stop comfort eating when I am bored or tired. I am going to try using this thread as a distraction technique.
Good luck everyone.

lightlypoached · 01/08/2019 07:55

Morning

69.4/31% this morning. Grin

Went to the pub after work and had 2 slimline tonics and pretended they were gin Smile

2 more days til holiday !

lightlypoached · 01/08/2019 07:55

That should be 60.4 not 69.4 😳

BrillyPribble · 01/08/2019 07:59

Morning all.
Start of the month for me is at 13st 4lb. I would love to end the month on a number starting with 12.
Losses so far :
May - 5lb
June - 7lb
July - 5lb

Weirdly despite now having lost over a stone, not a single person has noticed or commented! I have gone down a dress size and feel myself that it's quite noticeable. I'm pretty tall (5'10") and I know I need to lose/gain more for it to show up but still I would have thought over a stone would do it!!

SoBoredOfWaiting · 01/08/2019 08:37

Morning! Hopping on this thread in the hope that I can lose some weight before my holiday in October. I am still breastfeeding though so hope this doesn't hinder weight loss too much.

Height 5'2
Weight 11st 2lb
BMI 28.7

Goal 9st 6lb

Let's do this!

Vebrithien · 01/08/2019 09:02

Morning all,
Shuffling over from the July thread. Fairly traumatic month, with surgery yesterday for a second MMC (first one was in April this year).
The earlier MMC was the inspiration to start this weight loss journey.

July loss was 5.5 kg, so starting August at 94.5 kg.

Started April at 111 kg, so have lost 16.5 kg in total, and more than 10 cm off of my waist (started measuring in June). Gone down between 1 and 2 dress sizes.

We're off on holiday at the end of August, to sunny Spain. I want to wear a swimming costume and not feel awful. If I can get down to 91kg, then I will be in the overweight BMI category. This works out at just over 1 kg a week, which is roughly what I've been averaging.
Hope everyone has a good month!

Fluffiest · 01/08/2019 09:09

Morning and hello to all the new joiners. I have been on these threads since June and have lost just over a stone.

My method has been to eat less junk and smaller portions at meals, and to do a twenty minute run or aerobic routine at home every day. I weigh myself daily and that's really helped me understand how much food is too much.

That's the plan but I've had trouble sticking with it these last few days. Had people round a lot this week that ate intoy exercise time and have been turning to pop again for energy which is a really bad habit for me.

Starting August weight is 9st4, I'm aiming to reach 8st11 by the end of the month. That number looks too good to be achievable but we'll see what happens.

Immediate goal is resist the sweet allure of coke today and go for a run this evening.

Good luck to everyone!

DeadButDelicious · 01/08/2019 09:38

Morning all! A slight gain this morning, but I think that’s a normal fluctuation given I only weighed myself yesterday. The scale was flickering between 119.8 and 120kg before it settled on 120 so I think it’s only a slight gain since yesterday. This is why I don’t weigh everyday though. It can be very disheartening.

Weight at end of July: 119.9kg

1/08/2019: 120.0kg

Loss so far in August: 0

Weight at beginning of 2019: 142.9kg
Total loss so far: 22.9kg (3.6stones/50lbs)

Went a little... off piste... shall we say, yesterday and ended up having a very naughty day so I'm following that up with a somewhat good day today.

B: Yogurt
L: quorn beef steak with rice and vegetables malt loaf and a little low cal chocolate mousse.
D: quorn beef steak with baked potato and vegetables malt loaf and a low cal chocolate mousse.

Bit samey but it needs using up! And it brings me in at 1434 for the day.

This months Apple Watch challenge is to close all three rings 17 times, so that's my aim for this month.

Good luck to all!

DuckWillow · 01/08/2019 09:41

Hi OP, TeamRH Fitness are an online fitness and weightloss group. It's £4.99 a month.

They work out the cals I need to lose 1lb a week. For my current height, weight and activity this is 1900 cals. It sounds loads but I am losing a steady 1lb a week on it.

They set me protein and fibre goals for each day too. Am loving it and my binge eating disappeared almost overnight once I began following it.

sheshootssheimplores · 01/08/2019 10:18

I’m a RHFitness member and weirdly it didn’t work for me although I know it works for many. I think I’m insulin resistant though so intermittent fasting has worked beautifully.

hollyangel · 01/08/2019 10:27

Hello! Can I join?

I'm 5'8 and had got down to 13.05, but this morning have crept up to 13.3. Would love to lose 7 pounds in August, but still breastfeeding so not sure how that will go.

I plan to get back on the intermittent fasting wagon. 16:8 is brilliant.

Veggie scramble at 11:
Rice cake, almond butter and banana at 3
Dinner, to be decided. Protein, veg and some potatoes probably.
Snack of 120 cal choc bar and cuppa before my eating window closes at 7.

Will also try and get my 10k steps In. V motivated to smash my target in August!

3dogs2cats · 01/08/2019 10:32

Hello .
Starting August at 101.5 kilos. Hope to finish it properly and comfortably under 100 kilos. On holiday from tomorrow for a week. The plan is to do lots of walking and swimming and make healthy food choices, and not come home at my June weight.
Measured my waist and I have lost 2 inches in a couple of weeks, that is iencouraging.

DaisyChainsGetBroken · 01/08/2019 11:15

Hello. Been for a 5k run this morning although I did walk for about a k overall in between. Just having porridge for breakfast now. Have stocked up on healthy stuff last night. Ready to go.

Lookingforpizza · 01/08/2019 11:45

Hi all! I am crap at keeping up with things at the moment, must make a proper effort for the August thread! Hope everyone is well! I forgot to weigh myself this morning so will use Thursdays as weigh in days this month.

Today's food:
B: alpen (nas) and semi skim milk
L: tomato and three bean soup
D: sweet potato with tuna and salad cream and maybe some coleslaw
Snacks: latte, banana, choc ice

I think it all comes out to around 1200 which is fine, not much exercise just the usual walk.

Good luck to everyone this month - we can do it!!! Grin

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 01/08/2019 12:05

Morning Losers!

I lost it a bit (not in a good way) at the end of
July, but I'm feeling motivated by the new thread.

I just can't lose weight when it's really hot. My two main techniques for staying away from bingeing are keeping busy & exercise, & when it gets too hot I really struggle.

Add to that the beginning of the school holidays & a bit of a health scare (which I won't go into here), and I ended up with a three pound loss in July. Better than nothing, I suppose.

Anyway, plan for today is

B: yog & nuts
L: puttanesca

Then fast until tomorrow

Start weight for August: 11st 13lbs.

Weight lost since beginning of June: 9.25lbs.

Good luck everyone!

Oh, and Thanks for you Vebrithien

ForestDragon · 01/08/2019 12:19

Joining in! I've been steadily dropping weight through July using Noom and I'm 86.5kg this morning. I'm tall (179cm, almost 5ft 11) so that gives me a BMI of exactly 27. My goal for August is 83kg which would give me a BMI of 26 and keep me on track for my goal!

My big goal is to get to 80kg by the time I go back to work from maternity leave in October, that would just take me into the normal BMI zone. I'll then figure out where I want to land up - might then focus on waist size as I'm well over the recommended 31 inches (38 this morning). I had my second baby in April, and I'm enjoying reclaiming my body after my final pregnancy! I'm also thinking that it'll be harder to eat right and exercise when I'm busy back at work, so trying to get into good habits now. So far I've overhauled my breakfast and lunch, and eliminated high calorie snacking. This month I need to look at evening meals and others I share with my husband - these are mostly the ones which tip me over my daily calories. I need to find substitute ingredients which work practically without lots of extra work, or get my husband to agree to have other options - he really needs to lose a lot of weight but if I wait for him to be ready for us to do it together I'll never get there - choosing to worry just about myself for now at least. He gets grumpy with me if I talk about weight loss much, but he has noticed that I'm getting slimmer. Maybe that will inspire him? Can only hope.

Anyway, glad to join the thread and hope we all have lots of success in August!

WhenDoISleep · 01/08/2019 12:23

I'm back in. After having no motivation for the past 7 months my weight has gone back up to 14st 12lbs today - a stone heavier than this time last year. I need to lose weight for my own health. I'm going back to tracking in MFP as that worked well for me last year.

LooseAtTheSeams · 01/08/2019 12:44

After a run this morning, weight was 69.9kg! Suspect it's going to be a bit up and down as usual but this feels like a bit of a miracle after last week.
Checked BMI on NHS calculator. Nowhere near as bad as it used to be and it suggested losing another 3.5kg. So this is my target!
So far today:
B - cereal and soy milk
L - 4 whole meal rice cakes with peanut butter and avocado.
D - pasta and lentil sauce ( will try to go low on pasta portion!)

kwazycupcakes · 01/08/2019 12:47

hello, mind if i join you lovely lot?

@cricketmum84 i read this whilst eating a greggs vegan sausage roll so i feel your pain Grin

i will weigh first thing tomorrow morning! good luck everyone, we can do it Smile

BrillyPribble · 01/08/2019 13:50

I took my son to subway for lunch today and chose a salad bowl instead of the usual sandwich I would have had. It was absolutely bloody delicious! I really enjoyed it, and MFP has it as only 230 calories which seems incredibly low.

flyright · 01/08/2019 14:06

Hello,

What a lovely positive thread! I hope some of it can rub off on me. Smile

Lots to lose, keeping carbs low. Get sabotaged by booze, work events and lack of discipline.

But will give it a real go this month. 3kg/7 pounds. Can't be that hard can it?

Arthrette · 01/08/2019 14:06

I went to India for a vacation last week and was recommended some pills where you have one and you don't need to eat for something 20 hours. Plus who you pee, fat is expelled. I have brought quite a few back with me, seems good

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 01/08/2019 16:17

I AM FIT TO RUN AGAIN YAYYYYYYYY!!!!!!
