Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Yay Paul! My lovely lovely friend bought me a piece of delicious gf cake this morning, but I managed to have a small lunch (slice of gf toast and slither of cheese- no veg as had upset stomach earlier. 4 tiny gf crackers with a cuppa, hoping to find something small and soothing for dinner- maybe porridge!

Dyrne · 01/08/2019 20:09

cricketmum84 I am so envious of you on holiday at the moment! All that sun and lovely food sounds fab!

BrillyPribble how annoying no one has commented! I think they say it does always take longer for others to notice weight loss...

Vebrithien sorry to hear you’ve had such a rubbish time of it recently Flowers

DeadButDelicious I know what you mean about being annoyed when the scales go up a bit - mine are 200g above yesterday which i’m really annoyed about as I ate within my calories AND did my C25K W5D2 run yesterday! I’ve got an Apple Watch too - the challenges have become really motivating for me. I completed May, June and July but August’s is now to close all three rings 28 times!! Shock I think i’m going to struggle with this one - total exercise minutes or distance i’ve found easier in previous months as I can overcompensate if i’ve had a ‘low’ day - with this challenge i’ve got to be consistent! I guess that’s why they call it a challenge Grin we’ve got this!! Halo

lightlypoached · 01/08/2019 20:23

@Dyrne you just need a poo. That will take off those pesky 200g. Grin

Ihatesundays · 01/08/2019 20:29

First day of 16:8 - it ended up being being 8.5 hours as i ate lunch early.
However I didn’t really have any dinner last night so was a bit desperate.
Been for a power walk as well.

Didn’t miss having breakfast that much. Especially as I could have tea. Mostly I was hungry mid-afternoon.

I’m off to a good start. Eaten loads of fruit today, had a good breakfast and lunch. Possibly a bit too much dinner but no pudding and did a power walk as well so hopefully it was a balanced day.
Closing the kitchen.

AdventureTravelDreamer · 01/08/2019 23:21

Good day 1 here Smile

So many posts already! Let's hope we can all keep this up.

Meals planned for the next few days but I am going for lunch with a friend on Sat so that could cause a slip up!

Brilly well done on your loss to date. I can understand that it is frustrating to think people haven't noticed but perhaps they are just not commenting. I very rarely comment on someone's weight as it's such an emotive subject for so many.

Need to sleep now but will read the full thread tomorrow

EttyG · 02/08/2019 00:37

Hello I'd love to join you all!

I've probably got about 6 stone to lose in total, but for now I just want to get to my pre pregnancy weight (DS is nearly 2 so no excuses really!). I absolutely ballooned in pregnancy. I stopped weighing myself but it must have been 4-5 stone Blush I lost some in the first 4 months but still have about 1.5 stone to go.

I've been faffing about with slimming world the last two months but already yo-yo-ing. Dr Michael Moseley keeps popping up on various threads though so I've just ordered his book. I'm interested in reading the science but a bit daunted by the fasting and 800 calories! I might keep up with the SW weigh ins though as they give me a bit of a weekly focus. Plus my scales are rubbish, different weight every time you stand on them.

Anyway fingers crossed for a good month!

Morning all! It's Day 2!! And my last full day of holiday (sob!)

Huge welcome to all the new joiners. Sorry I don't have time to reply to everyone, I'll be more on it once I'm home and Back to normality and cold weather!

Had a bit of a slip yesterday, had a gorgeous Greek salad at lunchtime after a long walk in 35 degree heat and a couple of cold beers. Didn't drink anywhere near as much water as I need. Then out for dinner but the place we wanted to go was full up so ended up at a different restaurant. I ordered feta shopps style which is just feta, eggs, tomatoes and peppers baked in a small clay pot, not that bad but I had 3/4 of a garlic flat bread to dip in it! Plus 2 gin cocktails. Resisted Ice cream on the way back though.

Hoping to be much better behaved today!

I feel slimmer than when we got here, no way to know for definite though until I get home and weighed. May need to continue the Bulgarian diet at home!! I've eaten so much cucumber I may start to resemble one 😂

Much love x

Morning! Final weigh in before hols!

60.6/ 27% body fat.

I'm happy with that as an aim Was to reduce visceral fat.

Went to book club last night and people noticed that I looked trimmer ! Comfortably wore a pair of cigarette trousers I've owned for about 10 years.
, so that's good. Managed to only have 2 slimline g&t as well.

And my lovely work colleague has stated 16:8 and is loving it.

A mad mad day today: working (although officialy on hols) then yoga, nails, last minute shopping, shower, fake tan, packing, checking DS packing , dinner, dance lesson and sleep before a 3am start.

Am up and at 'em already. Smile

Good luck we ruined

Have a lovely holiday @lightlypoached and hope today isn't too stressful! Just think this time tomorrow you will be almost there! Xx

Morning all. Unsure of plans today as our play group has been cancelled. Will probably take the kids to the park.
Plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits
L. Beef sandwich
D. Fish and veggies
Snacks: plenty of fruit and water
Exercise: 100 squats at home as I have the kids by myself all day
Goal for today: must not eat in the evening. The weekly food shop comes today and DH always has an after dinner treat like a twirl or Pringles. I just resist. Last month I caved more then I should. I might have a mug of hot milk like an old lady.

Millie2017 · 02/08/2019 07:24

Must resist!

Fluffiest · 02/08/2019 07:43

Morning, mixed day for me yesterday. I was alone in the office and gave in to the snack drawer - I ate 2 wispa bars and then my boss bought me sweets for doing a difficult job, which was nice of her. So I had a sugar fest.

In the evening we had lamb kofta wraps with a low fat mint and cucumber yoghurt and salad. That tasted really fresh.

Still didn't manage to exercise. The rain showers keep putting me off. Tonight I am either going to run or I am going to do some vigorous decorating... Either way I am going to get moving. Might also do a lunch time walk.

Daisychainsgetbroken · 02/08/2019 08:38

Will catch up with everyone's progress properly this eve but just come on for a quick panic. Going hill walking with new bf today. Never been before. Having an absolute panic I'll be too slow/too crap/too fat to do it. In my head I still weigh 6+ stone more. I was the one who suggested this place but absolutely panicking now and think I cant do it! Will be great exercise and fab views. Any words of wisdom?!

cricketmum84 · 02/08/2019 08:43

@Daisychainsgetbroken is he quite fit? Maybe he's having the same worries as you!

I would be honest from the start and say you're not sure if you will be able to keep the pace so let's take it steady?

I forgot to tell you all my NSV last night! I'm very much a blend into the background, hide away kinda person (yes even with bright pink hair). But I went out in a very bold patterned jumpsuit (that I couldn't get over my bum last holiday) last night and actually felt good about myself!! DH took the first photo in years where I've not instantly gone "ugh" and deleted it 😂

@Daisychainsgetbroken take a camera and then you have an excuse reason to stop to take a break photos GrinGrin

Millie2017 · 02/08/2019 08:45

@daisychainsgetbroken I’m a walker! Take water. Don’t layer up, you’ll get hot. Wear comfortable shoes and decent socks. Rest when you need to - no shame in that! Enjoy the views and the fresh air. Oh and make sure you have a sugary snack stashed away in case you start flagging. A couple of jelly babies will perk you back up super quick!
The only problem I ever experience is that the tops of my thighs rub. If you have the same don’t wear denim! I always go for leggings.

Ihatesundays · 02/08/2019 08:48

I am 76.2kg - so I have lost about 1 pound! Hurray

The first target I set was 76kg - so what do people think my next one should be? (I weighed 68kg a few years ago if that helps - wasn’t that skinny then either)

Daisychainsgetbroken · 02/08/2019 08:51

Yes he is much fitter than me. Can almost run 10k in the time I can run 5. Done loads of climbing etc.

Thanks photo=break is a good plan. Equally I could fake having to fix my shoelace Haha.

If I make it to the top I'll post a photo later.

rubybricks · 02/08/2019 10:08

Can I join? Lurked in July, would love to lose 7lb in August, am a daily weigher and not caught up with the full thread yet but hoping that being accountable will make a difference to my choices...

Lookingforpizza · 02/08/2019 13:05

Morning all! Weighed in this morning at 78.6kg, happy with that as I've basically maintained despite a month "off" effectively. Stupidly went to the supermarket whilst hungry last night so ended up eating an entire bar of galaxy. It only brought my totals to 1750, which isn't bad but I need to break these sorts of habits. There's also cake in the office today which is hard to resist!

Today's food:
B: Alpen (nas) with semi skim milk
L: Sweet potato with tuna and light salad cream
D: Spanish rice with prawns and chorizo
Snacks: latte and cake

I think I'll end up on around 1600 but I went for a good walk on my lunch break so hopefully it won't be so bad, and should be an active and healthy weekend with DP.

Based on today's weigh in I'd be happy to get down to 75.5kg for this month or near enough. That means I'm only 5kg away from my overall goal at that point!

Happy Friday everyone Grin

Ionacat · 02/08/2019 13:21

I’m going to join if I may. Weight has crept on over the summer term and from this week, I’m back on it. Starting at 11st 9 as of this morning. Really need to get down to around 10st so this would be a good start. Counting calories with MFP and have upped the exercise as I’d got really lazy. Swim last night and plan to run this evening. Also started the 30 day ab challenge.
B crumpet, satsuma and blueberries
L salad, tuna with salsa on wholemeal bread, raspberries and strawberries
D homemade pizza with a wholemeal base topped with lots of roasted veg and salad.

AdventureTravelDreamer · 02/08/2019 18:50

I weighed yesterday at 10st 10lbs which is always my upper limit. Whenever I feel like I have let my diet and exercise go and put on weight and feel enough is enough it always seems to be the weight I am. I know you can tell with your clothes when you have gained (as well as see it!) but I find it odd that this is always my starting point!

Another reasonable day food wise and good exercise wise as we had a family trip to the gym and DD and I did our whole work out side by side which was nice including sit ups with passing a medicine ball between us.

@DaisyChainsGetBroken hope you had a lovely day and that the walk went well.
