Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Hello all! In the highly unlikely event I shed 3kg overnight then my starting weight for this thread is bang on 79kg.

Aim for 31st August: 77.5kg.

COME ONNNNNNN.

BrillyPribble · 31/07/2019 10:13

My limit on MFP is 1300. I wouldn't reduce your calories, you just eat that amount in 2 meals & snacks instead of 3. The idea is to be well-fed in your eating window. Make sure you eat plenty of protein and fat rather than carbs, they will keep you fuller longer. Give it a try for a week and see how you get on? I couldn't do the 5:2 fasting but this seems to suit me.

DeadButDelicious · 31/07/2019 10:14

Placemarking! Have a picture of chunky butt DDog.

Will weigh in tomorrow!

OT but I thought you might like to see the size of this Apple I just bought on holiday. The waiter said it's bigger than his salary. 😂😂

DH has banned me from 5:2 as he thinks I would be unbearable.
Well I am probably going to have over 1000 calories for lunch so I am good for today Grin

sockatoe · 31/07/2019 15:09

I'm placemarking and trying to lose weight. Unfortunately, I'm not prepared for what the scales will tell me yet. Sadly life has allowed a lot of weight to creep on without me noticing and I'm not ready or willing for the trauma that actual numbers will bring. Yet.
Thank you for the thread, I shall cheer all your achievements and hopefully I shall lose the same, just without actual proof Confused

DaisyChainsGetBroken · 31/07/2019 15:18

Hello. Was there for the last part of the last thread but ready to fully jump into this one. Have eaten my body weight in digestive and Philadelphia today. So urgently need to get back on the bandwagon. Look forward to chatting.

Lovethetimeyouhave · 31/07/2019 16:07

Can I join? I was 3 stone over well, lost 5lbs so far!

Dyrne · 31/07/2019 18:13

Hi all, I lurked on the July thread but didn’t join in - I lost 2.5kgs in July, so hopefully actually joining the August thread will help me lose more in August!

I’m just, as of this week, out of the Obese BMI and into Overweight, which i’m thrilled about (though annoyed at myself as I shouldn’t have been there in the first place!)

I’m calorie counting using MFP and doing 16:8, which I find great as I find I can usually ignore my hunger till lunchtime, but weirdly if I have breakfast my stomach thinks it’s open for business so will bother me more throughout the morning!! Grin

I’ve started C25K as well, currently on Week 5. Have got Run 2 to do tonight.

I might experiment with 5:2 this month to give things a boost. I managed well on it a couple of years ago before I fell headfirst into a pit of despair and sharer bags of crisps and chocolate

DuckWillow · 31/07/2019 18:19

Checking in,

I am with TeamRH Fitness and planning on slow weight loss with increased fitness.

So far it’s been amazing.

PeriComoToes · 31/07/2019 19:05

Tell me more about RHFitness Duck

I am (usually) the same Dryden with regards to breakfast, it opens the floodgates. Though some mornings I wake up hungry and can't make it past 10am.

PeriComoToes · 31/07/2019 19:05

I don't who the fuck Dryden is Dyrne 😂

Wellthatwastricky · 31/07/2019 21:12

Hello, getting myself here and ready for August! Have just said farewell to July with a takeaway, bugger...

Goal for August - 7lbs. Going on holiday in one month, really would like to be able to get into some of my old clothes, otherwise I'm going to be doing a mad dash for a new and irritatingly short term summer wardrobe.

HollyTheHarrier · 31/07/2019 21:42

July progress: started the month at 65.2kg, today weighed in at 61.8. So 3.4kg down. My low point was 60.9kg but that was straight after a run and think I was just very dehydrated. So 61.8kg feels like a better starting point for August.

Goal for August is to drop 2kg, as I get closer to my goal I think I need to be realistic that my weight loss will slow down and I really want this to be sustainable.

HollyTheHarrier · 31/07/2019 21:44

Some days are a struggle and today was one. Think I will be just about within calories but have been hungry and tired all day and just wanted food. Hoping to start August with fresh enthusiasm!

Dyrne · 31/07/2019 22:15

everbloom I get the feeling, it’s so tough when people say things like “oh go one, just this once” or “one won’t hurt”.

The trouble is, all those “just once” or “just one” treats add up! If I accepted every treat I was offered then i’d never get anywhere!

I find a lighthearted “you know me, I can’t stop at one so I have to have none!” Works. Keep it breezy - no one likes a diet bore or to be made to feel like they’re being greedy. I always emphasise that it’s my issue, not theirs; and i’m having to put up with short term pain for long term gain. If it really is a very special occasion then obviously make an exception!

PeriComoToes Grin i’m the same - on the days I’m starving I drink so much water to try and fill my stomach! I’m sure my colleagues think i’m PG because of my constant trips to the loo!!

Alaimo · 31/07/2019 22:25

I only started mid July, but lost 1.3kg in 2 weeks. Aim is to lose another 1.5kg before I go on holiday in the 16th. Second aim is to not to put any of it back on while on holiday...

AdventureTravelDreamer · 31/07/2019 23:35

Right I'm in! Was on this thread a few months ago but totally fell off the bandwagon and there's been a lot of stress eating (and drinking!) since.

Will weigh and measure in the morning. My plan is lower calories, ensuring enough are from protein and making time for exercise as recently work has just taken over!!

misselphaba · 31/07/2019 23:47

I'm starting at 10st 10lbs. I've put on a good stone this year and now it has to go. I'm going to do 16:8 and lay off the alcohol. I'm going to try to avoid calorie counting as it melts my head.

I last ate (OK drank) at 9pm so I'll miss breakfast and have lunch at around 1pm.

BlueTimesTwo · 01/08/2019 03:58

Hi, I'd like to join please.

I lurked in July but lost no weight so I'm hoping the accountability of joining the thread helps motivate me! I've put on almost 5kg in the last year and would like to take it back off.

Starting weight is 64.8kg. My plan is cutting out sugar which is always my downfall.

Wow so many newbies already! Welcome all :) we are a lovely group and everyone is so supportive on here.

It's ❤️ Day 1 ❤️ and I hope we are all raring and ready to go!!

We are heading out on the bus today for a wander around new nessebar for some shopping and lunch. Should get plenty of steps in to work off my bounty ice cream from last night! Then back here for a quick swim to cool off.

Plan for today is:
B - watermelon and a peach
L - traditional Bulgarian salad with avocado strips, seeds and feta
D - haven't fully decided where we are going her but likely to be another salad if it's still roasting hot or veggie curry if it's cooled down after the predicted storms later.

It was 29 degrees at 11pm last night and almost unbearable even to sit out on the balcony with a wine!

Have a lovely day everyone.

Weigh in for me is 13:11 which means for the whole of july I lost bugger all. However I also didn't put any on and I will take that as I have been eating and drinking far too much.

Today will be a pottering round the house day. My foot/ankle is really painful to walk on and I have no idea why. I tried walking it off yesterday which didn't work so today I am going to rest it and see if that works.

Lunch will be ham or tuna something.
Dinner is cajun chicken with sweet potato mash.
Snack will be melon. I chopped one up yesterday so it is all ready in the fridge for me.

Happy holidays cricket
Good luck to everyone for a good start to the month.

lightlypoached · 01/08/2019 07:00

@LesLavandes yes you can have booze on non fasting days.

Basic regime is 16 hours not eating, but drinking plenty. In the 16 hr fast period No drinks with milk in but black tea is fine, no fruit juice or sugary drinks . 8 hours eating either 'normally' or with reduced calories.

You can ramp it up by restricting yourself to 800 calories in the 8 hour window for every day in the 1st 2 weeks, which really gives you a boost. This is optional, though

I tend to do 3-4 days of 16/8 per week when I'm trying to lose. And then will do 1 day a week for health maintenance once I'm at target weight.

Hope this helps.

Millie2018 · 01/08/2019 07:01

Morning all. So after a gain in May my recent stats are:
June -2.7kg
July -1.9 kg
After taking time out yesterday to think about what I want in August I’ve realised that while I’d like to lose 2kg this month, my real objective is to get back to doing exercise more regularly. I need to stop making excuses and get back into it.
This month my mantra is “eat less move more”. More fruit and veg and less crap. Plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits
L. Ham sandwich
D. Home made burger and veggies
Snacks: plenty of water and fruit
Have a good day everyone
