Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Day 28 is here! 3 days left to make a dent in this last 2lbs off. Tbh even if I STA between now and Friday I'm still really happy with August results. I only gave in to the vegan roll temptation once!

I'm absolutely exhausted this morning. Without going into boring detail one of my team ducked up yesterday and I spent until 2am fixing it. And then my alarm went off at 5.30. I literally look like the walking dead. Lots and lots off coffee required!!

Lunch will probably be some sort of pre packaged low fat sandwich, I have the new temptation of a noodle bar that's opened in the centre where I work. It smells amazing every time I walk past it. And they do salt and pepper chips... literally cannot cope!!!

Dinner is the new Linda McCartney hoi sin duck thing with a fine cucumber and spring onion salad and a couple of those little rice pancakes. Really looking forward to trying it!!

Hope everyone has a lovely day! X

No change but staying at this lowest weight, 0.3kg until I see 74kg.

No exercised for 5 days due to a bad knee which is very very annoying. Might try upper body workout tonight.

Millie2017 · 28/08/2019 08:50

@Tanaqui thank you, it’s a good point. I need to try something new for September as August has been a bit of a disaster for various reasons. I go for wheat biscuits for breakfast as I think they will keep me full up. I could try something GF like muesli instead. Again, sandwich at lunch is for convenience and as a salad leaves me hungry again by about 3 and stuffing fruit.
After my junk food dinner I have a spot the size of Everest on my chin. That’ll teach me.
Plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits
L. Ham salad roll
D. Chicken and vegetables
Snacks: fruit
Have a good day everyone.

Hello, I joined the thread early on but didn't keep up with it.

I decided to read the Fast 800 book as I kept reading about Dr Michael Mosely on threads like these. Wow I wish I had read it sooner! I urge anyone struggling to at least try and read the book. It's a revelation. I loved reading the science behind his plan and feel I have a better understanding of how my body converts what i eat in to fuel or fat.

For the last 18 months my post baby weight loss stalled. Joined SW in May and in two months I yoyo-ed up and down. I just couldn't stick to the plan at all.

Read the fast 800 book, mostly stuck to the plan and I've already lost 12lb in less than 4 weeks. And that includes a week lost to camping (gained 2.5lb and lost it again in 2 days) and then last week was my period week so loss stalled a little but since I've finished my period it seems to be falling off me again.

The plan is so easy to stick to as you eat lots of protein and healthy fats so you feel satisfied. Bloody delicious too with all the yummy healthy fats. Eating fat doesn't make you fat!

The Magic Pill on Netflix is a good watch too.

I am so, so excited for the next few weeks. I've got another 5.5 stone to lose for my BMI ago be around 22 and where I was most happiest with my weight 10 years ago. It actually doesn't feel that far off to be able to achieve it, yet with SW it felt like it would take years!

EttyG · 28/08/2019 09:17

Oh and I also say this as someone who is an emotional binge eater, mostly how I got overweight in the first place. Yet I don't feel like it needs much willpower. It just clicks!!

Ihatesundays · 28/08/2019 09:18

I know lots of people who do SW who never seem to change weight significantly. Just go up and down, and they always seem obsessed with it!

EttyG · 28/08/2019 09:28

Knowing what I know now, I'm not surprised. It's so high carb... free pasta, potatoes etc. It's sugar/carbs that make you fat. When I first started fast 800 it was mind boggling that I was able to eat full fat Greek yoghurt and cheese. The recommendation for decades is to eat low fat varieties when you are overweight. Yet the nation is the heaviest it's ever been!

EttyG · 28/08/2019 09:29

I always knew that weight loss was much more than just 'eat less, move more' and this book explains exactly why.

WoollyFoolly · 28/08/2019 10:28

I agree with the Michael Mosley thing - I've not read his book but have read articles of his, it's really fascinating. I don't eat anything 'diet', aim for high protein, good fats. Inevitably that ends up fairly low carb most of the time. I don't consider myself to be on a diet, I want this to be my way of eating permanently.
millie it's protein and fat that is filling rather than carbs. There's a horrifying video clip from a bbc program called the truth about carbs I think. It shows just how much sugar (as in carbohydrates, not as in added sugar) is in seemingly healthy foods. It's worth watching!

Millie2017 · 28/08/2019 22:14

Closing the kitchen. Managed to go out for a swim today, which always makes me feel positive.
Will definitely do some research about a change of approach for September. Thanks everyone.

Ihatesundays · 28/08/2019 23:40

May have eaten a cream donut today
I need children to go back to school as I am much more disciplined on my own!

Tanaqui · 29/08/2019 05:36

@Ihatesundays, I hope you enjoyed it! Some things are worth the calories.

10.0.2 this morning! Currently feeling quite positive and have a gym class booked for later. Hope you all have a good day!

LooseAtTheSeams · 29/08/2019 07:40

Everyone's doing so well!
Doing well on the healthy eating front. Need to have a conversation with myself on the wine front! And must go for a run today!

Ihatesundays · 29/08/2019 08:38

Stayed exactly the same again. Going to be good today Grin

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 29/08/2019 12:31

I’m not even reporting how ridiculous this month has become so see you in September when the crazy has abated and life is normal and I can concentrate on me.

Millie2017 · 29/08/2019 12:49

@Ihatesundays same re. kids going back to school. My routine is all over the place.
@paulhollywood I need to rename this thread ‘put on half a stone for August’.... ha ha.
Morning all. I’m joking of course but also dreading my end of month weigh in. If I’ve stayed the same I’ll be happy!
Plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits and banana (already had)
L. Beef salad sandwich
D. Home made burgers and vegetables
Have a good day everyone.

HollyTheHarrier · 29/08/2019 13:43

The amount of cakes in the office is ridiculous and I am very bad at resisting! It has been eye opening logging in MFP and seeing how much sugar I eat. Today I have held out so far, going to try to get to the end of the day without cracking. Just to prove I can do one working day without cakes! Weight has bounced way up since last week - hoping it will settle back down again before the end of the month so that I don’t end August higher than I started!!

WoollyFoolly · 29/08/2019 17:05

Another one struggling with change of routine here!! It's such a manically busy time at home and at work, can't wait for things to calm down in a week or two so I can catch my breath.
Probably stuck to plan 80-90% of the time, was too tired to weigh this morning and totally forgot yesterday was Wednesday when I'm supposed to weigh in so I'll wait until tomorrow morning now. Couple of days to go, not sure if I'll manage to sneak under 13 but I'll give it a good go.

cricketmum84 · 29/08/2019 17:20

I ate a huge slice of pizza 😢 really annoyed with myself!! No way am I going to be in the 19s by Saturday!

Ihatesundays · 29/08/2019 18:05

We might have made a cake today! Oops... 4 days till school!

cricketmum84 · 29/08/2019 21:39

@Ihatesundays lol! September will be a better month.

I say this while sat with a big glass of wine and a (so far) unopened twirl next to me.

Placing this here for tomorrow :)

HollyTheHarrier · 29/08/2019 22:07

I really like that quote @cricketmum84

I’ve just cooked egg fried rice with a tonne of vegetables and some chicken. It’s absolutely delicious. 500 calories total but I ran this evening so can afford a few more and it feels like eating all the goodness. Reminds me why I feel better when I eat well! (Still going to eat chocolate for pudding)

Millie2017 · 29/08/2019 22:27

Closing the kitchen. Had a really lazy day with the kids, watched a lot of telly and lazed in the garden while they played. Was nice though.
Stuck to plan with the exception of a twirl (DH brought them on offer at Tesco). Won’t be tempted by them tomorrow night as put with a friend.
