Link to previous month here: Half a stone (or 3kg) for July http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3624800-half-a-stone-or-3kg-for-july

Hello everyone! Old timers, newbies, lurkers and anyone I've missed and welcome to the Half a stone challenge for August!

Everyone welcome regardless of what diet or exercise plan you are following.

All I ask is positivity and support for all of us (and someone to follow me around and steer me away from the Greggs vegan rolls please).

I'm currently on holiday until Saturday so will weigh in then and let you all know the damage as my starting weight for August.

Much love x

Hah this thread is a joy. Just looked thru it and found my starting weight was actually 101.5 so if I lose a kilo that will be a small loss.

Ihatesundays · 21/08/2019 08:56

After my weight wiggling about last few days it’s settled back down to the lowest weight again.
Usually the sign it will go down again. Fingers crossed!

LooseAtTheSeams · 21/08/2019 09:25

Verbrithien that's just amazing - you have achieved so much, you must feel very motivated now!!
Not sure if weight is down this morning but yesterday my trousers were definitely looser around the waist - so either they've expanded or the weight has shifted a bit!
I'm feeding a friend's cat over the next couple of days - just wondering if I can turn this into a fitness activity by running there and back! (Obviously cuddling the cat before the return run - you can't just put food down and ignore all the purring!)

sheshootssheimplores · 21/08/2019 09:34

I’ve been a bit quiet as my weight loss had totally plateaued. So I forced it to move by doing my first 35 hour fast 😧. My god it wasn’t easy but as of this morning another pound down 👌

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 21/08/2019 12:19

Steam it @cricketmum84

Wrap in a greasproof paper “wrap” with some lemon and it’ll taste gorgeous.

Look up “monkfish + steam in oven” and you’ll get 100000000000000 recipes.

I am not even bothering trying to lose 3kg this month, in laws are here, it’s a waste of time.

Had bloods today so will know if I’ve got T2 by the end of the week. Shitting it yet still I find myself eating an Oreo.

Lookingforpizza · 21/08/2019 13:04

Hello all!

Good start to the day and managing to avoid the sweet snacks that are going around in our six hour meeting today Sad

B: latte and apple slices
L: Carrots and jalapeño hummus
D: Jacket potato with leftover bolognese and cheese
Snacks: Banana, Maltesers and another latte to get me through this meeting.

Not sure how many cals in my bolognese but I estimate I'll end up on around 1400 cals overall. Hoping to get out for a short run this evening just to stretch my legs out.

lightlypoached · 21/08/2019 21:57

@Vebrithien wwwwwoooooooooohooooooooooo!

That is all. SmileGrin

AdventureTravelDreamer · 21/08/2019 21:59

Three weeks in and have lost 3lbs so I'll take that. Ideally I'd like a quicker weight loss - wouldn't we all!!! - but as my bmi is just in the healthy bracket and I am menopausal and I am giving in to the temptation of alcohol I think I have to be realistic.

Swam 50 lengths this morning and cycled 15 miles with the family this evening. My thighs are not thanking me for the cycle!! But at least the Prosecco I am drinking feels justified Grin

Vebrithien · 22/08/2019 06:23

@lightlypoached

Thanks! Grin

Braved scales again this morning and delighted to find I have dropped another 0.3kg - only tiny movement but going in the right direction. Food plan for today: yoghurt, soup + bread, tuna steak + stir fried rice and greens. Leaves about 350 calories for snacks. Fingers crossed!

AdventureTravelDreamer · 22/08/2019 08:30

I'm a daily weigher when I am trying to lose weight. A little frustratingly the scales have stayed exactly the same for the last three mornings!! Surely I must lose at least 0.1 of a lb soon!!!

cricketmum84 · 22/08/2019 08:57

Morning all!

Arrrgggghhhh still no loss for me!! What is going on!

Yesterday was a bit of a disaster, I worked from 8.30am until midnight. I'm knackered. The monkfish hadn't defrosted in time so I ended up having about 10 potato wedges for tea. I'm starving this morning and so stressed out that my anxiety is doing about a million miles an hour.

I haven't brought any food with me at all so going to run in Morrison's next to my office and grab a falafel wrap or something for later and some fruit. Take 2 on the fish tonight!

SERIOUS chocolate cravings this morning even though I don't usually like it. I'm also really craving mashed potato which is weird!

Weight up a little bit and ravenous. I can cope on 16:8 but I am starving all the time.
So annoyed....just want to lose some weight!

AdventureTravelDreamer · 22/08/2019 10:18

Seems like a few of us are struggling a little at the moment. Hang in there everyone, it WILL shift eventually!!

And I hope work eases up @cricketmum84, those hours sound crazy!!!

I had a bowl of bran flakes with a banana sliced on top for breakfast, have a low cal soup in the fridge for lunch and then am going to a friends for a birthday tea later for her daughter. There is going to be no snacking and no alcohol today, I want to see that 6!!!!!

Hippywannabe · 22/08/2019 11:59

Game changer snack alert. 0% fat greek yogurt and sweet chilli sauce.
OMG it is amazing.

Half a stone (or 3kg) off for August!!
Lookingforpizza · 22/08/2019 12:42

Hey all! Snapped on my cravings last night and ate a whole bag of dairy milk caramel nibbles. So yesueday was definitely a maintenance day. Fighting take away cravings today by planning an exciting and tasty home cooked meal.

Today's food:
B: Muesli (nas) with skim milk
L: Bean and tomato soup
D: Sausage, bean and sweet potato casserole - really excited about making this, it's a bit chilly where I am today so fancy a nice winter warmer. Not made it before so hoping its as tasty as I am imagining Grin
Snacks: banana, apple, latte, maltesers

I should be on about 1500 calories for the day which I'm happy with. No run tonight as I need to squeeze in 7 episodes of Peaky Blinders before it returns on Sunday Grin

sheshootssheimplores · 22/08/2019 12:48

I’m fasting today but I’ve decided I’m going to allow myself two cups of tea!! So I’ve done that lol

WoollyFoolly · 22/08/2019 13:42

Arrgh STS here for 8th day in a row. Hope it starts to shift soon. Will try and make it a super-light calorie day today to see if that gets things moving.
So far have only had a protein shake, which is actually delicious and really filling so not wanting lunch yet. I've got mackerel to have with pasta for tea, might just do that early on and try and avoid lunch altogether.

bluebeck · 22/08/2019 18:53

11:9:6 so have shifted down half a pound.

Had a crazy busy day so have hardly felt hungry today, didn't eat until 1pm (ham sandwich) and then had a tiny portion of arrabiata pasta tonight with a huge green salad.

Well done everyone losing, and keep going everyone who is stuck.

sheshootssheimplores · 22/08/2019 21:16

Well done bluebeck 👍

CoolLikeOvie · 22/08/2019 21:44

@WoollyFoolly do you make up your protein shakes in a blender or a shaker bottle? Mine came today but I couldn't find my blender blades (haven't used it since my last health kick years ago Blush) so used an old shaker bottle, and the texture was not nice! Don't know how I'm going to stomach it in the morning.

Hope the scales start moving for everyone. I generally never lose for the 2 weeks between ovulation and my period, and I ovulated today, so I suspect I won't see much movement for a while either. Going to do some measurements though, they tend to give me a bit of motivation when the scale isn't budging.

KOKO Smile

WoollyFoolly · 22/08/2019 22:22

If I'm making one myself I use a blender but then it's made with fruit, oats or nuts, Greek yoghurt and a scoop of protein powder. I've made just protein powder and milk or water before and that was not nice.
This morning I had a ready made one though, an energize honeycomb flavour one, delicious!

cricketmum84 · 22/08/2019 22:40

Really didn't like the monkfish :( the texture was just too close to meat for me, it made me feel a bit sick.

So for dinner I have had 4 baby potatoes (like 3cm long ones), 3 broccoli florets and 3 baby corn.

If those scales haven't moved tomorrow I will actually throw them at someone!

Tanaqui · 23/08/2019 06:01

Sorry Cricket! I think Monkfish and tuna are both quite "meaty" fishes.

I had a couple of crap days, lots of carbs, some sugary treats and an enormous amount of salted peanuts, which also meant I woke up all night thirsty! Still 10.2.4, so back on it today. I need to focus on the long term goal! KOKO and 🍀all.

Tanaqui · 23/08/2019 06:06

Thinking about what @CoolLikeOvie said, does ovulation make people hungry? I was eating frozen flapjack at 6am, which is honestly really really unlike me, (and having had a lot to eat at 8pm the night before) and just wondered if maybe there was some kind of hormonal reason? Or maybe just my body desperately trying to regain!
