I did well on calorie controlled and general 'mindful eating'

Happierwithouthim · 03/10/2019 18:40

I'm already over cals for today but my dinner was lush & we're now watching tv in front of fire for evening keeping safe from Lorenzo Grin

Thanks everyone I've got to do something!

I will start calorie counting tomorrow I think, I know that pasta and potatoes don't really get you much for the calories, so will stick to fish, eggs, fruit and salad. I've managed to lose weight in the past by calorie counting but give up because it's hard!

I'm Going to make soup at the weekend, I think if I can make it chunky that should help keep me full, not sure what to do about lunches for the next four weeks, I can take soup in a thermos food flask but it only stays warm rather than hot.

Tomorrow's plan is eggs for breakfast, banana, yogurt and weight watchers soup for lunch, salmon and veg for dinner. That's around 1254 kcals. Fingers crossed 🤞

WreckTangled · 03/10/2019 19:34

Camden do you fill the flask with boiling water and leave it whilst heating the soup? I do this and mine is perfect eating temperature at lunch time. You could also have chilli and casserole type things. My food flask broke and I can't afford another one so I've got to keep having salad 😭 oh also veg curry is a good one.

Wolfcub · 03/10/2019 21:38

Happier I think it’s exacerbated by not only not having time to eat (currently working 44 hours plus in four days) and also when I do have time just having no appetite because I am too stressed/too tired. On the plus side my metabolism is probably in overdrive from the stress, I know my blood pressure is up because I can feel it (normally I run high in any event)

CamdenTownie · 03/10/2019 21:42

Hi wreck - yes it's a thermos one, I fill it from a boiling kettle and leave it a while before putting the food in piping hot, but I do this at around 6am and eat at about 1pm, do you think this is too long?

Weight watchers tomato soup is nice but I really do crave the bread.

WreckTangled · 03/10/2019 21:45

Can you make your own soup? Much less sugar and more filling. Yes maybe. I would make mine about 8 and eat around 12:30 so nowhere near as long. Tbf I'm not a fan of really hot food and would happily eat it warmish Grin

CamdenTownie · 03/10/2019 22:07

Wreck - I'm Planning on making some sweet potato and butternut soup at the weekend, and I might also make some leek and potato too, that's a favourite here. Weight watchers tomato soup is only 72 calories per tin, so it's easy to count, the chicken noodle is only 52 calories!

I think I need to cut back on the potatoes, and pasta, and stop eating bread all together, I know they are cheap meals but I can't really eat too much of them, recently I've been buying frozen veg to save money, but may have to buy some fresh stuff too.

I've got £309 to buy everything between now and 25th October, so I'll really need to stick to a good meal plan and budget well, thankfully I do have lots in the freezer and cupboards to use up.

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/10/2019 06:33

I use mostly frozen veg as it's easy and nutritional sound. Pasta is very calorific for what you get imo.

Up today and yesterday but I know it's salt/greed

Wolfcub · 04/10/2019 06:49

Another 1.5lb off

WreckTangled · 04/10/2019 07:04

I can't see a weight watchers soup being very filling. I would omit the potato from the butternut squash soup, or have you tried curried sweet potato? Really nice and so easy. I low carb so can't have them but used to. I also do leek and cauliflower instead of potato and you can't tell the difference. I like some frozen veg but not all. I find broccoli and cauliflower go all mushy so good for soup but not in a cheese sauce Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 04/10/2019 07:33

I would do lentil based soup too. Cheap, filling and nutritional

CamdenTownie · 04/10/2019 08:44

Oh yes life - I love red lentils, will try butternut, red pepper and lentil soup I think! Great suggestion 👍🏻

Agree with the frozen broccoli- sometimes it just ends up as a Pot of stalks! Dh won't touch broccoli, cauliflower or courgette, kids don't like mushrooms or courgettes but will eat every other veg.

I think I'll look for a good recipe for chicken and sweet corn soup, maybe chuck a bit or orzo in too.

Just about to start writing a shopping list for tomorrow!

CamdenTownie · 04/10/2019 08:54

Weight watchers soup is ok, doesn't fill you up I guess but as it's only 72 cals it's not the only thing I'll eat, so my banana is 90 cals and yogurt 111, 273 calories for lunch is ok, if I can stick to 300 breakfast, 300 lunch and between 600-700 dinner, that's a good day!

If I go crazy and restrict myself too much that's when I give up, have a binge and fall off the wagon.

Happierwithouthim · 04/10/2019 10:23

Sts this morn so average is an even 159 so hopefully I'll get in just under that for my weekly average when I weigh tomorrow morning for final time this week Grin

Was well over calories yesterday with some pringles and a 3 fingers of small kit kat bar so maybe there might be a jump from that Hmm

One of my more filling lunches camden is tuna mayo sweetcorn sandwich - full can of tuna/frozen corn defrosts by lunchtime and some extra light mayo with two slices of seeded wholemeal bread.

Lentil carrot & bacon soup is amazing too, I got the recipe on mumsnet years ago.

Roasted red peppers and tomatoes blitzed into a soup with lots of black pepper is delicious as well.

Not2bObvious · 04/10/2019 12:14

Average still up but only by .2, so I’ll hope for maintenance or as close as. Seems to go I get a loss, then a minor gain or maintain, then a loss. Although next week I’ll be gone 4 days so no chance!
Yep too much restriction would defo lead to a binge camden, as long as the lunch fills you - 0% Greek yogurt is super filling and you could get 150gr with berries/banana for around 200 cals depending on the amount of fruit. Up the protein for sure. Cold cooked chicken is great for lunch.
All this talk of soup, just made a batch of veg soup for lunch....with a slice of buttery bread

Just checked my weight loss for Sept exactly 1lb - October will be better than this Grin

Not2bObvious · 04/10/2019 21:47

From the 1st of Sept to 1st Oct - I’m down 3.4lb, but that’s just dealing with a portion of the summer splurgeBlush

Still seem to be hovering up. But lots of carbs and salt as I've been very tired

CamdenTownie · 05/10/2019 07:26

Fab ideas- thanks guys, I love Greek yoghurt (Fage - but will look for a cheaper alternative) with Agave, and I'll give the soups a Whirl too, dd1 has been asking to make soup so she will be pleased!

I'm going shopping at Asda today, but left my list at work, I'm Also going to grab some bagels thins since happier mentioned fried eggs on them it's all I'm thinking about.

I haven't weighed myself, because it's the time of the month so I don't think it'd be accurate, but how are you working out your monthly average? This must be a better way to see weight loss.

Happierwithouthim · 05/10/2019 07:32

-0.8lbs this week Grin

Poached eggs Camden Wink

Camden most of us weigh daily.

I love bagels! I make my own low carb version it's not quite the same but still good. I just had the teeniest bite of DD's English muffin 🤤

I want to make up some jelly but our fridge is bursting. Dh says we don't need a new one Hmm

Made low carb cookies last night too

The Aldi version of fage is what you want. White tub, pink writing 0% fat - loads cheaper

lifelongfrugaleer · 05/10/2019 08:40

That's one full fridge. Le yum for the cookies.
There will be more cake here today for DS party.

Yy to weight everyday. Seems counter intuitive but helps see patterns and fluctuations

Wolfcub · 05/10/2019 08:49

Up about 3/8ths but had most of a bottle of wine last night so not a surprise. I am very very close to the half stone mark if this eeeks weightloss sticks
