Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

Ivy cat is gorgeous! Hope all goes well over the next couple of days.
Good day food wise yesterday apart from guzzling wine while watching Wimbledon highlights. I made a vegan stir fry ramen thing - basically a normal stir fry with tofu
and a much smaller portion of noodles than I usually consume plus stock with soy sauce and miso paste.
I have made yet another healthy salad for lunch and I am wearing a summer dress that I can finally get back into! Little victories and all that!

PeriComoToes · 03/07/2019 11:43

Thanks! "Miles*. The name pretty much sums up how I feel a lot of the time. Being perimenopausal sucks but am hoping that things will improve by getting fitter and losing the weight.

Congrats on your 20 mins run, great achievement!

I had a very rare lie in today, 10am!!! Am planning to have a very lazy day, so far so good.

jfk1718 · 03/07/2019 11:45

I managed 20k steps and 1200 cals yesterday. Today going to be worse though, as busy day at work, so trying to keep motivated (though going swimsuit shopping yesterday has helped with that).

To the person who was asking about fitness videos. I think fitness blender is really good. Loads of loads of videos for different things and all completely free.

Sorry to hear you’re struggling LookingForPizza. Mental health issues are such a bitch to deal with. No wise words from me on how to deal with them unfortunately. Just take it one day at a time and remember to be kind to yourself 🤗

Thanks WhatALearningCurve and Swimmergirl for clarifying how FitBit estimates calories burnt. I always thought the estimates were ridiculously high, so generally don’t eat them back. But seeing that huge number did make me feel a little bit better after yesterday’s excess.

Anyway it turns out I needn’t have worried. Lowest number ever on the scales this morning: 76.9 Smile May be eating more vegan cakes is the key to weightloss 🤔

WantLifeToBeBetter · 03/07/2019 12:31

Sorry you're having a tough time @LookingForPizza. Have you had treatment for MH issues before? Or do you think it could be hormonal? (Just speaking for myself I tend to cry more because of hormones, whereas MH difficulties tend to make me more angry/unmotivated/empty feeling. Of course everyone is different.) I hope your meeting goes well in any case Flowers

crivit · 03/07/2019 12:57

Sending positive thoughts to everyone struggling with life crap at the moment while simultaneously getting more and more cat broody thanks to all the photos!

My weigh-in this morning was, I think as it was about 6 hours ago, 74.3kg. Same breakfast for me again today because I was too busy /stressed to do an overnight oats soak. Lunch will be chips with salad as I'm meeting my mom for lunch and that's all I can have from there. Unfortunately dinner will also probably be potatoes with kale and something else protein-y yet to be decided.

@Crazzzycat - I'm sorry to say that as a vegan of more than 20 years, if vegan cake was the answer I wouldn't need to be on this thread BlushSad.

Have lost another 1/2 lb so 1 lbsince Sunday.

Today
Breakfast 1/2 pack of puy lentils, 2 poached eggs

Lunch Mixed green and puy lentils, baked salmon, mixed leaves, tomato, cucumber

Dinner hummus, salad, slice of rye bread

Snack 4 Nairn seeded out cakes and 2 triangles laughing cow light, apple, small tub of berries, 8 almonds

The diet seems to be working. Not sure when I’ll get bored of it though. I’ll be so happy if I lose the full 7lbs in 2 weeks.

HearMeSnore · 03/07/2019 13:01

DH opened the box of chocolates last night and before I knew what was happening I'd had four. Once the wrapper is off I have absolutely no restraint. Given half a chance I'd be just like that nun from Father Ted, sitting in pile of wrappers, face covered in chocolate.

I made him hide the rest. And in solidarity he has offered to a do a "Dry July" which will be helpful.

Bought a size 18 swimsuit yesterday, which is probably a waste of money now that I'm trying to get back to a 16 but there's no way I'll shift enough weight before our holiday. I tried a 16 on. It was like trying to get a duvet back into the bag it came in.

Been good so far today. Fruit, salad, packet of baked lentil curls and lots of water. No plan for dinner yet - DH is cooking. Will just have whatever he makes, and trust that a smallish portion with no booze or dessert will be ok.

Lookingforpizza · 03/07/2019 13:07

Thanks guys. @WantLifeToBeBetter I’ve always had anxiety but generally can manage it quite well. The work stuff has been building up for a long long time and I think I’m just hitting a breaking point really. It’s very unlike me to feel generally tearful but I’ve cried every morning before or on my way to work for the last week. I hate feeling this way, especially when I can’t put my finger on what it is that’s making me feel so anxious i.e completing a project or having a big deadline. It’s just all so bloody hard sometimes.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 03/07/2019 13:24

Just checked my bmi, & I've just tipped from obese to overweight.

Good nsv Smile

Vebrithien · 03/07/2019 13:46

Thank you for your well wishes. DS and DN are both on antibiotics, but doing well. Going to see them on Saturday (we don't live nearby).

Cricket lovely photos of you and IvyCat.

OhTheRoses I hadn't thought about getting two sizes and returning one nearer to the date. I like it!

On a side note, have been on the NHS website, looking at BMI (I know it isn't the be all and end all, but it it taken into account by the midwives). I had thought that I needed to be 89 kg, to move down from obese to overweight, but according to the NHS calculator, I need to be below 91.8kg. this feels so much more do-able! It takes it down from 1.1 kg loss a week to 0.9 kg loss a week, to be ready for our holiday.
(I have been in touch with my nutritional midwife, and she is happy with how things are going)

Crazzzycat · 03/07/2019 14:15

That’s fantastic news MilesJuppIsMyBitch! Going from obese to overweight was a huge motivational push for me. I hope it will do something similar for you!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 03/07/2019 15:01

Nice one @MilesJuppIsMyBitch

Hello all. Can I join in? I have about 25lb to lose in total (currently 179, want to reach 154 or 11st to be within the healthy weight range). I'm thinking of starting 16:8 but I'm seeing conflicting ideas about whether you have to have your eight hours earlier in the day or if it's ok to do it from, say, 2pm to 10pm, if I know I'm going out that evening. Any thoughts?

easterholidays · 03/07/2019 18:08

(Don't have any cats to share, sorry, but I'm enjoying everyone else's!)

OhTheRoses · 03/07/2019 18:09

How is she @cricketmum84 ?

Catboi is on a diet having been declared obese by the vet and described on the claim form as "this very obese cat".

He has lost 0.7kg down from 7.8kg to 7.1kg. He is on Hills skinny diet and half a pot of stuff in gravy twice a day. He is a BIG cat. His mother was BSH Queen who escaped and BSH boys are huge. I may be in denial. He may be running about a bit more now his osteoarthritis is being treated.

cricketmum84 · 03/07/2019 18:25

Wow that's a biiiiiiiig cat!! Ivy cat has never got above 2.95kg!! But she is very small compared to normal cats.

Vets called earlier just to say she is much the same, still bright and happy and eating and drinking well. Full bloods again tomorrow so we are all praying for another improvement in the kidney levels. I will be pretty tense in the morning until the results come in!

7kg!! My two are around 3-3.5kg, 7kg is a whopper cat!
I can't share a photo of my black cat because she's impossible to take a photo of but here's my handsome boy.
Odd day today, literally not stopped with running round to various school events so got a Tesco meal deal but avoided sandwiches and had a sushi box and then spoiled it with a massive bag of crisps instead 🙄
Still somehow within my calorie limit for the day though and because I've been walking around everywhere I've done nearly twice as many steps as I usually do in a day.
I have a Fitbit and use MFP but I've set up MFP to ignore the exercise calories so they never get added on.

Especially for you cricketmum a picture of my rescue cat. He loves making himself nests. Don’t ask me why, but it’s kind of adorable 😁

I really hope you’ll get some good news soon about your cat!

@BrillyPribble your puss cat is majestic AF!! He does a fab pose!

@Crazzzycat that is adorable. Our old cat used to do that all the time in a bush in the garden! Very cute :)
