Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

Thanks cricket, I won't tell him that, he already has a VERY high opinion of himself. 😼

crazzzycat, that is super cute!

Loving the cat love on here!

PeriComoToes · 03/07/2019 19:50

So many adorable cats!

Great nsv miles, I've got 8lbs to go until I hit that particular one and really hoping that's where I'll be by the end of the month.

I've taken some 'before' pictures today. Oh lordy.

Also tried a dress and skirt on that are too small. The dress wasn't too bad, it did up but I think it might be ok by the end of the month. The skirt, however, is a different matter. I'll need to lose 5 inches off my waist if I want to be able to do it up. I will (eventually) succeed!

Fluffiest · 03/07/2019 20:04

You lot are making me very cat broody!

I have a pair of trousers that I have kept hold of in the hope of fitting in to them again. I threw out everything else that didn't fit me anymore but I kept these because I used to feel really stylish in them.

Kind of a naff day for me. Ate a packet of wotsits for a late breakfast, sausage roll for lunch and then made fish fingers from scratch with potato wedges and peas for tea. Tried to go for a run but only managed to run 10 minutes and walked the rest. Think I am having a that time of the month problem and it's taken my weight loss mojo.

Maybe I need to try the trousers on again for a motivational boost. I'm half a stone lighter since I last tried them!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 03/07/2019 20:06

Thanks Crazzzycat, PeriComoToes & crivet Smile

Right back atcha PaulHollywoodsSexGut Grin

Had my treatment at the hospital today, so bought an M&S hoisin duck noodle thing and some dim sum.

No idea how many calories, but it was my only meal, so I'm not worried.

twobambinos · 03/07/2019 20:58

I love how busy this thread is theres always updates to read its very motivational.

I think my calories for today have come in around 1250 so not too bad. Also got in a bit of a walk not as long as I would have liked as had the dcs with me but better than nothing.

I also have some clothes that I think even 3 or 4 pounds will make a big difference to. I'm looking forward to wearing those. And then a whole wardrobe full of stuff that if I lose a stone I'll be able to fit it which will be so nice.

I'm resisting temptation here tonight by drinking glasses of water. It's not the same is it.

CumbrianExile · 03/07/2019 21:12

Loving the cat pictures. I would love one but dh is allergic!

So weighed in today an overall maintain for June (I put 8lb on holiday haha, that is now gone!) And I am starting July on 13 stone 5.5. So target is 12 stone 12.5.

Good day food wise but I am currently enjoy and gin and diet lemonade. Its within syns though so all good.

cricketmum84 · 03/07/2019 21:45

Haha @twobambinos it's really not the same!!

I ate way too much today but was too full for tea so probs pulled some Cals back. During the day I have had:

Satsuma
Fibre one bar
Sandwich in seeded bread with cream cheese and salad
Banana
Iced coconut latte and gluten free brownie

No room for tea at all!! Just had to listen to DH chowing down on 4 sausages, chips, two toast and an entire tin of beans followed by ice cream. How is it fair that men can eat sooooo much and never put on weight???

@Vebrithien I'm really sorry I missed your question from this morning!

No they aren't sure what's caused the poisoning, I have a suspicion but I have no way to prove it.

They don't think it's anti freeze as it's the wrong time of year for it to be left out and also it usually causes some crystals in the urine that they aren't seeing with her. Could be lily poisoning. Obviously we don't have them in the house or the garden but other people could have.

We have a horrible, loud, extremely sweaty, basically foul neighbour who complained on the local Facebook group recently about cats in his veg patch. He threatened to "kick the shit" out of the next cat he saw in his garden. We are 2 gardens away and I wouldn't put it past him to put poisoned food down.

My next door neighbour has also seen and heard these threats and came round to tell me she had seen ivy Friday night on her fence licking her lips and paws as if she had just eaten 😢

That does sound difficult @Lookingforpizza. I don't have any advice really, except to look after yourself and take a break if you possibly can, but I'm sure you know that already Flowers.

I had a decent day. No alcohol again and managed an 8k run slow jog after work.

B - 2 slices of toast with peanut butter & marmite
L - big box from the salad bar & a boiled egg
D - poached salmon, rye bread, more salad, & a yoghurt
S - apple

The cat had a less good day, food wise: he decided to nibble on one of my spider plants and then projectile vomited in the living room Hmm. Loving all the other cats on the thread and sending continued good wishes to Ivy.

Hope everyone else had a good day.

cricketmum84 · 03/07/2019 22:00

@Blankscreen I have the ww scales. They do all sorts of fancy measurements but I only use them for weight.

@whatsnormalanyway That's a fantastic victory!! Well done!!!

@Lookingforpizza ❤️❤️❤️ for you. Trust me I know how hard it is to focus when your head is doing a million miles an hour and stressing about everything. Deep calming breaths and focus on one step at a time.

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch amazing NSV! Can't wait until I get to that point!

Welcome @easterholidays ! I'll forgive you for the lack of cat pics 😂

@Fluffiest your username just cries out that you need a cat!!!

Just off to bed and haven’t had a chance to catch up on the thread, will do in the morning. I will say I’m loving the cat pictures though.
I stuck to plan today. Managed to swerve the cake at my lunch out and got an unexpected 3 mile walk in as well as my swim so all good.

hopeful31yrs · 03/07/2019 22:16

Weight 63.6kg today - hit 10st exactly... 71 days of dieting and exercise and 19.5lbs down. Hoping to get to 60kg and a "normal" BMI as my first goal. This is 2.8 yrs post second baby! 😂

TreaterAnita · 03/07/2019 23:09

@easterholidays, I think IF is supposed to be more effective if you don't eat late at night, but I doubt it makes a massive difference so long as you only eat once in a 24-hour period, so you still get the benefit of restricting calories and fasting.

Decent 'whoosh' on the scales today - down 1.2kg.

B: Half a skinny latte (dropped the other half on the pavement Angry and an apple
L: Flat white and a peanut Nakd bar
D: Coconut chicken with BNS, pepper and spinach salad

Crazzzycat · 04/07/2019 00:27

@easterholidays I do intermittent fasting and I think the main reason why it works is because it’s actually pretty difficult to fit 2000 kcal into 8 hours, let alone overeat. I’m sure it’s possible, but you’d need to put in some serious effort! So I wouldn’t worry too much about when you eat, just focus on what you eat.

I did normal calorie counting before I found out about IF and, to be honest, got pretty frustrated with my calories not stretching much further than three tiny meals and a packet of Wotsits. I hated having to say no to healthy thing, like nuts or extra portions of fruit. It just didn’t feel like the sustainable lifestyle change I was after.

With IF, I can have two reasonably sized meals and a couple of healthy snacks. And that usually still leaves me with enough calories for a small piece of chocolate, or something else a little less wholesome. So I can definitely recommend it! Smile

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 04/07/2019 06:56

Morning!

Very happy today, as I've just nudged into the next stone bracket. Last week: 12st 1.25 lbs. this week: 11st 13.75lbs.

I did an actual double-take Smile

Congratulations hopeful31years that's a brilliant loss!

Another shout for IF here. I just look ahead at my day, and work out how it will fit. No set start-time.

I like to have one really big, proper, satisfying meal, and one smaller meal (usually breakfast).

Have a good day everyone.

cricketmum84 · 04/07/2019 07:09

Good morning all! It's ❤️ Day 4! ❤️

Busy day in the office for me and then straight after work we are taking DD to the fair (and possibly DS but only if he goes to school today)!!

Plan for today is:

B - banana and coffee
L - slice of seeded bread with light philly on top
S - satsuma
D - DH wants to go to the chippy!!! What do I do??

Blood tests results due for Ivycat at some point this morning. I'll update as soon as I can.

Have a lovely Thursday everyone!!

Good morning everyone . This is Bobby cat saying hi too!

I walked nearly 30k steps yesterday . Was actually a lovely way to spend the day and the students did themselves proud.

Today will be
Spicy veg thing
Lamb steak thing
Snacks will be sun bites and some fruit.
I am hoping to get to the gym after work too.

Have a good day everyone.

Half a stone (or 3kg) for July
Fluffiest · 04/07/2019 07:29

Bobby cat is gorgeous! Look at all those colours!

Maintained today. I would really like to drop one more 1lb this week if I can but am feeling really lethargic. Going to try and buck myself up with lots of fruit and salad today.

Lookingforpizza · 04/07/2019 08:15

Morning all, and thanks for all your kind posts yesterday. I had a bit of a food blip last night but didn’t eat anywhere near as much as I had “planned” to, so that’s something. I also managed to wake up early today and get out for a (slow!) 7.5k run, which I enjoyed. Hoping the endorphins carry me through the day.

Today’s food:
B: Alpen and yoghurt, latte
L: Tomato and lentil soup
D: I’m hosting my book club so usually throw together some oven pizzas and nibbles so will try to keep the cals down for me.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Millie2018 · 04/07/2019 08:19

Morning all. Plan for today
B. Wheat biscuits and fruit
L. Ham sandwich on brown
D. Fish and veggies
S. banana
E. Zumba class tonight and a lunchtime walk
@cricketmum84 I saw your post about your neighbour. It sent a shiver down my spine. Given the threat and poor Ivy’s condition, might it be worth a call to 101. Even just to have it logged in case something happens to someone else’s pet too?
Feeling inspired seeing all the losses starting. Looking forward to my weigh in on Sunday.
Have a good day everyone.

PeriComoToes · 04/07/2019 08:38

Terrible night's sleep and consequently am ravenous. Never hungry in this early in the morning, so annoying!

Will have eggs and avocado I think.

Another gorgeous cat! I don't have one but am increasingly thinking maybe I should which considering I used to be scared shirtless of them a few years ago is a revelation.

Have a great day everyone.

BrillyPribble · 04/07/2019 08:42

D - DH wants to go to the chippy!!! What do I do??
I'd get chips! Seriously, just have half a portion, we did this last weekend (went to the beach) and I shared a portion with my DH. Stopped when I was full and didn't pick at the chips the kids left. One chippy meal won't undo the rest of it. It's what you do habitually that will make the difference. I logged mine in MFP and was still within my daily calories, the total meal was about 550 cals.

lightlypoached · 04/07/2019 08:50

@OhTheRoses maybe we should start a cat diet thread? 😂 I have 2 - one is naturally teeny, the other a greedy whopper who even eats the bread we put out for the birds 😆😺

The big one hid when she was due at the vet on Monday. She knows. She knows he's gonna put her on a diet.

I had a rubbish day yesterday. Still feeling unexplainable yukky. On the verge of tears for no reason, dizzy and nauseous with a 4 day tension headache (am post menopause so prob not hormones). So rubbish I didn't even make it to dancing, and I love dancing So I ate full calories (1400) instead of fast. Did a 7am strenuous yoga class today and will do a fast day tomorrow.

So I'm 61.3 this morning.

Working at home today so will keep an eye out for news on ivycat. And the rest of you of course Smile

easterholidays · 04/07/2019 09:12

Thank you @Crazzzycat and @MilesJuppIsMyBitch, that's v encouraging!

@lightlypoached 1400 calories is still low, so I think you can count yesterday as a win.

I'm going to wait till lunchtime to eat today and then make it a piece of fish with some salad I made yesterday (chickpeas, sweetcorn, red pepper and red onion with parsley, chives and lime juice - recommended!); then aim for a small and early supper. I don't currently fit into any of my nice clothes so I have a good incentive Grin

xJune88 · 04/07/2019 09:18
