Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

Couple of spoons yoghurt with fruit of choice. Veggie sticks with homemade tahini dip or low fat houmous.

OhTheRoses · 02/07/2019 11:31

Not really tracking on holiday but not eating masses either. Cpl of glasses of wine every evening but think I'm entitled.

@cricketmum84 - only really hopped on to see how Ivy Cat is and hoping you are OK. Been thinking of you both. Flowers

Cautiously good news from the vets!
The kidney marker has dropped overnight from 960 to 770 which while a massive improvement is still a long way from where it needs to be. Still pushing on with fluids for another 48 hours and retest. They said some cats need up to a week in hospital on fluids for their kidneys to start working better again and it has only been 4 days here.

They are cautiously optimistic that she could be home at the weekend if the levels get down to an acceptable amount.

She will still have a level of kidney injury and will need supportive food and medication and the prognosis still isn't much more than a year though. Although some of your stories about cats going on for longer is giving me extra hope.

Keep keeping those paws crossed for further reductions! And thanks for all the love and support.

I'm off for visiting hours and cuddles with my Ivy cat ❤️❤️

Does anyone use any of the fitness classes or exercise apps? I downloaded those 30 day abdo and stretching apps but I don't know whether they are actually any good or not!?

crivit · 02/07/2019 12:33

Happy cat cuddles! Given how stubborn cats are, vet prognoses aren't always accurate Smile

cricketmum84 · 02/07/2019 12:35

@crivit well she's certainly defying the odds so far! She is one fiesty, strong little girl x

Hello! So I fell off the face of the earth a bit over the last week for a few reasons, mainly I was on a week long celebration of my birthday so just wanted to enjoy it. Also my mental health isn’t brilliant, probably just being triggered by stress at the moment. I’ve had a bit of gain but imagine some will be bloat. I’m starting July back at 80kg and would love to reach 76 by month end.

Today’s food:
B: Alpen and yoghurt
L: Tomato and lentil soup
D: Salmon and whole grain rice with sweet chilli
Snacks: a handful of leftover birthday chocs!

An added positive, my running times are getting much better and I’m now running 7.5k comfortably. Running seems to be doing a bit to relieve stress too.

Wishing everyone a very successful July - let’s get it done! Grin

Afternoon!

Another busy day here.

No breakfast, moussaka, couscous and salad for lunch, no dinner.

Fingers crossed your cat keeps improving cricket, & I hope things start to turn a corner for your son.

LooseAtTheSeams · 02/07/2019 14:01

Sending cuddles to Ivy cat!
I really enjoyed my Indian meal last night. I did a lof walking yesterday but didn't dare weigh myself this morning!

Gothamgirl1970 · 02/07/2019 14:36

Is it too late to join in?

cricketmum84 · 02/07/2019 14:37

Thanks for letting me join in. I have a lot to lose but have to start somewhere! I’m very glad to be here.

WantLifeToBeBetter · 02/07/2019 18:27

I stayed off the holiday sweets and now just need to stay off the booze and the mindless grazing tonight..

Glad to hear your cat is doing better today cricket.

SwimmerGirl40 · 02/07/2019 18:50

@lemonbalmtea

Those Nairn seeded oatcakes are delicious. I got some in Tesco earlier and had two with one triangle of laughing cow light.

bbpp · 02/07/2019 18:53

Hi, I'd like to join you all if that's alright!

Start weight: 14st 2lbs

No breakfast and lunch but had salmon with spinach, cauliflower, chickpeas and lentils for dinner. Going for a 6/7 mile walk in a mo

And best wishes to your cat ❤️

PeriComoToes · 02/07/2019 19:23

Hello

I've been looking for a thread to help me lose 4 stone and you all seem like a nice bunch. I have a fairly long road ahead so could do with some company.

I'm doing a bit of calorie counting, watching my carbs and cutting back on sugar and alcohol. I'd also like to improve my fitness which is at all time low.

This is day 5 for me but didn't weigh myself until yesterday so logging my start weight as 14st 3 with a 40 inch waist.

Lookingforpizza · 02/07/2019 19:58

@cricketmum84 just read upthread so sorry to hear about your cat! I hope she makes a swift recovery Flowers

lightlypoached · 02/07/2019 20:10

@cricketmum84 that's better news than you'd hoped for. Sending healing vibes to your little cat x

So lovely to see so many new faces on here.

And equally lovely to hear about @Lookingforpizza 'a birthday celebrations. That's the way to do it.
In our house we do birthday eve, birthday and boxing birthday at the very least 😂

I'm feeling a bit down today (no particular reason) so nice to come on here and see what you are all up to.

Millie2018 · 02/07/2019 21:42

Managed a 4 mile walk while the baby slept. Tonight has been so hard. Alone on the sofa. I’ve eaten 2 nectarines, a banana and a bowl of grapes, strawberries and raspberries! But, I have avoided the open box of chocolates in the fridge and I can eat as much fruit as I like on my plan.
So somehow I’ve stuck to plan. Proud of myself, as evenings on the sofa used to be my stuffing time.
I hope everyone else has had a good one. Really pleased to hear positive news about Ivy cat @cricketmum84.

Millie2018 · 02/07/2019 21:44

And a big welcome to the new joiners 🙌

CumbrianExile · 02/07/2019 22:29

lightlypoached I love the idea of birthday eve!

I've stuck to plan today and went for a walk on my lunch break. Feeling positive for tomorrow's weigh in.

WantLifeToBeBetter · 02/07/2019 22:41

Well done Cumbrian and Millie. Hope you're feeling better tomorrow lightlypoached.

I also stuck to the plan:
B - boiled egg, fried mushrooms, grilled tomato
L - avocado and crayfish salad, bread roll, banana
D - brown rice with quorn, veggies, olives and pesto
Snacks - a pear and some veggies

No booze, a decent amount of water and no grazing after dinner.

Now just have to do it all again tomorrow..

TreaterAnita · 02/07/2019 22:47

Evening all. Glad to hear you're had some positive news about your cat @cricketmum84.

Scales stuck stubbornly at yesterday's weight this morning (I weigh myself every day) but managed to come in under 800 cals today and didn't feel particularly hungry.

B: Skinny latte
L: Avocado & salmon sushi
D: Prawns & peppers, Spanish grains, courgette & salad

For the poster upthread asking for breakfast ideas, my go to when I've tried low carbing is a small piece of cheese and a small handful of nuts - sounds a bit odd but it's really portable and filling.

lemonbalmtea · 03/07/2019 00:09

want lifetobebetter Your day sounds delicious.

swimmergirl glad you like them, the plain ones are a bit too plain but those are likeable enough. Ryvita seeded is also good, I try to avoid processed wheat though.

I've reached a plateau where I would like to reach for all the foods. Instead have downloaded an App called Cronometer, it tracks and calculates the nutritional content of what you enter. The only thing I can't seem to do is enter exercise daily so I just worked out a daily average. It tells you headline info for six main nutrients and a full nutritional breakdown for the day. Who knows if its totally accurate but it gives an idea.

Crucially it means I can quickly plan the next day, as I'm not that au fait with calories, fat etc., and hopefully keep on track better.

Crazzzycat · 03/07/2019 00:18

A bit of a mixed day for me today.

The day started off ok, but then I did some experimental baking for one of the kids who is considering going vegan, as long as he can still have access to “decent cakes”. After both eating multiple pieces of cake, we’re now satisfied that it is definitely possible to make a tasty vegan cake 😂

On the plus side, my FitBit tells me I did 2 hours of exercise and burnt over 900 kcals. I’m pretty certain FitBit seriously overestimates calories burnt, but hopefully I burnt off enough to make up for at least one piece of cake. We’ll see tomorrow...
