Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

It's such a scorcher today! Sweat or other, I've managed to finally shed a full pound, fingers crossed for a little bit more before the end of the month.

Daisy, mainly wish I could get around to writing again, but also I no longer paint and small children have killed my cooking mojo when I used to be very into cooking (definitely not living up to my idea of nutritious varied homemade food for the DCs, chicken pesto pasta again anyone?).

Cricket, glad you are having a good hol. I saw the biggest thunderstorm I've ever experienced when I'm Bulgaria in my teens, it was incredible!

Plans for today are mainly not melting. So far I've had crudités with Parma ham, a mini milk and tonight prob having tortellini and veg. Salads and cold cuts planned for the rest of the week. Predicted to be 36 here on Thursday, hell to me.

Vebrithien · 23/07/2019 16:33

Afternoon all,
I've been lurking, rather than posting this last week. Well done to all for their losses. Flowers for all those of you having a tough time.
I had a follow up scan today. Only a tiny bit of growth (half what should be expected). I'll have a final scan next week, and if no more development, surgery next Wednesday.
I'm still sad, but more resigned now.

What will be, will be. At least I know that by waiting one more week, I've given it every possible chance.

I'll probably be back to weighing tomorrow.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 23/07/2019 18:48

Thanks for you Vebrithien, that must be so, so hard.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 23/07/2019 19:45

We're making iced biscuits for the teachers, & I've had to runaway upstairs and post. I've just eaten an iced unicorn head and it was Delicious.

I'm going to have a cold shower & give my head a wobble.

lemonbalmtea · 23/07/2019 20:43

I'm so sorry to hear that vebrethien Flowers.

I'd just like to light heartedly complain about my weighing scales. While I'd not been a saint they informed me the damage had been contained. But this morning, no, they have put an extra two pounds on me. Where was this two pounds hiding? I will focus on the overall direction and not be put off. Today I've had porridge, egg sandwich, carrot sticks and unknown soup (could be sweet potato, its defrosting). Turned down a chocolate biscuit and an ice lolly.

HollyTheHarrier · 23/07/2019 23:09

Today was challenging, felt hungry all day. Managed to contain the damage to 50 calories over target through exercise. Scales still stubbornly refusing to acknowledge how hard I have been trying 😒

lightlypoached · 24/07/2019 06:31

Morning 60.6/31% today, pretty much the same as yesterday.

Off out for dinner with old friends tonight so it won't be a low calorie day 😂

Still struggling to get out of bed but ge world awaits.

Fluffiest · 24/07/2019 07:21

Sorry to hear your update, vebrethien, Flowers. Hope you are being extra gentle and kind to yourself.

Too hot for exercise yesterday but did have a walk with DD and was up pottering around the house and garden, for most of the day. I was good at the BBQ, only had one hot dog, and a load of salad and resisted puddings. Did come home and have two glasses of chilled white wine though. They were lovely!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 24/07/2019 07:43

Not doing too badly thanks to tracking on FatSecret (thanks to the PP that recommended that, much better than the dreaded MFP).

However I think that with my postnatal physio appointment imminent I’ll be clear to start C25K next month and will hopefully see the weight just fall off Wink

I predict a 0kg total loss next week but my goodness this thread has been such a help and has held me accountable to shrink my snacking and be more mindful of the food I’m eating.

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 24/07/2019 07:56

Morning!

Ooh, hadn't clocked a new weight loss app has been recommended: I'll have a look.

Terrible night's sleep last night because of the heat and the lightning ⚡️⚡️⚡️

Feel bloated and exhausted.

I'm going to try to turn it into positive motivation for getting thinner. Heat is much easier to cope with when you're thin!

Plan for today:

B: yoghurt & nuts
L: steak & salad.

I've already had a sugary coffee to wake me up, but will stick to plan for the rest of the day.

Have a great day everyone!

Vebrithien · 24/07/2019 07:57

Morning all. Brace yourselves, this is likely to be long...

Have woken up with a cold this morning, which doesn't seem fair, after everything else that is going on.
We also had the most magnificent lightning storm last night, I've never seen flashes coming that fast.

Finally weighed myself again this morning, 94.8kg.
This means I've lost 3.6 kg in two weeks. I realise that this isn't the most sustainable way of losing weight, but given the nausea and anxiety I've had, it's understandable.

I've lost 5.2 kg since the start of July, and 16.2 kg since April. 10cm off of my waist, since I started measuring in June.
I've gone from a size 24 trouser to a 20, and am wearing a size 16 top that I got for our holiday, down from a 22.
I still have quite a tummy, especially at the bottom, but have lost the folds/lines in my back around my waist (spare tyre?). To see it written down almost makes it more believable.

2.8 kg loss now would put me at about 3 stone loss, and 4.8 kg would get me nicely into the overweight BMI group. I'd love to reach this before going on holiday in exactly 1 months time. It averages at about 1 kg a week.

Have a good day all.

lightlypoached · 24/07/2019 08:30

@Vebrithien that is amazing. See all those size changes and 10cm off your waist is incredible.

X

DeadButDelicious · 24/07/2019 09:20

Thank you @Fluffiest and @Wellthatwastricky it keeps my brain busy!

Ugh it was oppressively hot here yesterday but I didn't cave in to temptation and cooked (very simple) meals.

It better cool down soon. I'm not built for this weather! Grin

LooseAtTheSeams · 24/07/2019 09:23

lemonbalmtea I think we must have the same scales!
Rather mixed success here - I snaffled some mini sausage rolls last night. Not entirely sure not drinking wine has made up for it and I'm not going to check the calories!
Had toast and peanut butter plus fruit and yoghurt this morning. Planning a couscous salad lunch.

Ihatesundays · 24/07/2019 09:24

Zero sleep and zero weight loss.

Thinking I might have to go on an actual ‘diet’ rather than calorie counting. The exercise is making a difference every day though

TimesAreHardForDreamers · 24/07/2019 11:31

@vebrithien that is amazing! Wow!

Fluffiest · 24/07/2019 20:18

Hmm not done great today. I had a mini magnum and a mini trifle pot Blush both gifted by other people. I just couldn't say no. Oh and I ate DD's left over potato wedges.

Attempted a run this evening but was just too hot. Gave up after ten minutes and then walked. Hope you all are faring better.

cricketmum84 · 24/07/2019 20:48

I have only eaten once today. But I really made up for it Blush

Chinese restaurant and I had Szechuan fish, half a portion of egg fried rice, a handful of chips and some prawn crackers.

Have had to relax the vegetarian diet a little and eaten some fish.

3 beers down and 2 gin and slimline tonics. Stayed away from cocktails today as I felt a bit ropey this morning. Just sipping a black cherry cider on the balcony. Avoided crisps, chocolate biscuits, ice creams and bread. All of which I was offered numerous times today!!

How is everyone doing? Last push now for the last week of July!!!

3dogs2cats · 24/07/2019 21:41

Had 2 pieces of cake today. Very delicious. Trying not to be cross, I didn’t have any other redundant calories apart from the ice cream with the fruit salad.
Went to yoga. Had gin and slim this pm but no snacks. Oh dear I’ve been a bit crap. Ah well tomorrow is a new day.

HollyTheHarrier · 24/07/2019 22:57

Turning in for the day on just over 1,000 calories (with some guess work as I had buffet sandwiches for lunch). No exercise today due to work so pleased to have come in under budget on calories. Can’t check weight as away from home. Hot and knackered and ready for bed.

cricket that sounds delicious and good work avoiding biscuits!

Fluffiest · 25/07/2019 07:32

Maintained this morning. Which I'm happy with because I have not been resisting the ice cream or doing much exercise.

If I can get through this hot spell without gaining I will count that as a win

cricketmum84 · 25/07/2019 07:33

Day 25 and we are all still going strong!

I'm finding it really hard not having scales on holiday so I can't see how things are going. I feel like I'm doing really well with food but it probably is the cold beer round the pool and the 2 for 1 cocktails that will be taking me over calories each day.

Plan for today is lots and lots of water, it's going to be very hot here although not as hot as at home!! Small shopska salad for lunch and then DH and kidlets want to go to a grill house they have seen tonight so will probably end up with grilled veg or fish with lots of salad. Gonna try stay away from the booze and maybe a couple of g&ts tonight.

Keep cool and safe guys xx

I'm up before everyone else this morning so I could meander around getting ready rather than herding the toddler about, hopped on the scale and I'm 119.6kg! I'm out of the 120's!!

Weight at end of June: 123.2kg

1/07/2019: 122.5kg

8/07/2019: 120.6kg

15/07/2019: 121.2kg

22/07/2019: 120.0kg

25/07/2019: 119.6kg

Loss so far in July: 3.6kg

Weight at beginning of 2019: 142.9kg
Total loss so far: 23.3kg (3.669stones/51.

I suspect I'm sweating it out because it is hideously hot (I live in the north, this was not the deal!) but I am paying extra special attention to staying hydrated. No exercise over the last few days as it really is to hot to take the dog out, we're looking at a high of 32 today. The toddler is getting a bit stir crazy but she'll just have to wait it out, it's supposed to drop to 23 ish here tomorrow so we'll go out then.

Hope you're all managing in this heat!

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 25/07/2019 08:00

Well done on the loss DeadButDelicious!

I completely lost it yesterday. Last day of school, & everything went out if the window.

Biscuits & ice-cream, plus a Becks Blue.

BUT I didn't binge (unheard of).

The scales are putting me at 2lbs heavier, but that is extremely unlikely to be fat, as I just haven't eaten enough.

Lots of (thin) people have said to me in the past "Oh, it's so much easier to lose weight in the summer. I just eat salads!"

After congratulating them on their amazing ness, I always think, 'it's not easier for me!'

I think sleep-deprivation probably plays a large part. I don't sleep well when it's hot, then I crave sugary foods.

Hope everyone can stay cool & comfortable today Smile

ainslieb · 25/07/2019 08:09

9 stone 9.4 lbs this morning. 5.2 lbs since the 17th June.

Going in the right direction at least
