Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

lightlypoached don't give up, you can do this! Remember it's a marathon not a sprint, what you do on one day or even a couple of days isn't so important, it's what you do day in, day out habitually that matters.

I'm doing well this week which is great as I'm on holiday next week so that will be more of a challenge. The good part is that my DH now knows I'm doing this (he didn't notice, I told him) and he is a super healthy eater and very supportive. The bad part is we're off to Devon and I do love a cream tea.

Weigh in today is 13 st 6.5. Total loss for July is 2.5 lbs, all of that is in the last week. It means I've hit my first stone lost and am halfway to my target of 2 stone which will put me in the healthy BMI range. 😁

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 19/07/2019 07:53

cricket I'm glad your son is home Smile

Try a bit of meditation! (You can try Calm on YouTube), particularly the self-love stuff.

Brilliant BillyPribble! Love hitting a target.

I didn't have a whoosh today, so weight loss this week is 1.25lbs, weight loss in July is 4lbs. Happy with that.

Plan for today, sugary latte (because it's Friday), fried egg on toast for lunch and pizza for dinner! Yum.

cricketmum84 · 19/07/2019 08:23

Morning my lovelies! It's Day 19 today!!!

I've finally managed to lose another pound yay! And it's jolly holidays tomorrow!

I will still be around lots as I really need to try and stay on the straight and narrow as much as possible and not gain too much. Apparently Bulgaria isn't great for vegetarian options so I imagine I'll be having a lot of salads, no big cooked breakfasts either. It'll be the ice cold beers that I'll struggle with! Most places list their veggie options as fish or omelette and I don't eat either...

I'm planning on a nice early swim as soon as the pool opens on a morning while everyone is still asleep to help keep me active.

Throwing motivation your way @lightlypoached! You can do this! Today is a fresh new day! When I'm struggling I go shopping and buy luxury fruit and veg that I wouldn't normally spend on. Things like extra special strawberries, pink apples, asparagus etc. Try the 12 a day challenge where you have to eat 12 different types of fruit or veg? And think about how you will feel at your goal weight. How much lighter you will feel, how good it will feel when you do up those skinny jeans and tuck a shirt into them (one of my weird goals lol)!

Firmly in plateau land here, despite three days of averaging only 1000 cals. Trying not to feel too demoralised but very frustrating.

Reading up on how to break the plateau has also been off-putting. The message seems to be "try harder"! I feel that I can't do much more food wise but might try 5:2.

Summer hols have started and I'll be in my own with a 1 & 4 year old all day for the next 7 weeks (DHs few days off not counted) so I don't think I'll be able to up exercise and will have to try hard not turn to drink. Considering taking the opposite approach and eating more for a few days and see what happens.

cricketmum84 · 19/07/2019 08:32

Forgot to mention Ivycat at the vet again this morning for blood tests. Keeping everything crossed for another reduction in those tricky kidney levels. And also that she continues improving while we are on holiday, I will be worrying about her like crazy even though she is going to stay with my lovely nana now instead of the cattery!

Urgh. Weighed myself this morning and have lost a pound since Monday. Great! That's 5.6 pounds since the start of July I thought, except it isn't because clearly I can't add up. It's 4.6 pounds which is where I thought I was last week. So even though I've lost a pound I feel like I've lost nothing this week so far iyswim.

Struggling this week, not sleeping well at all and am 'tired hungry' all the time. Fed up but will persevere.

Must catch up with the thread!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 19/07/2019 08:39

I feel lighter yet I’m back to 79.4 meaning no change. I don’t get it.

I blame my impending period.

Millie2018 · 19/07/2019 08:50

@lightlypoached I always try on my ‘skinny’ clothes for motivation and a reminder of what I’m aiming for. I wore a pair of pre children black jeans on Wednesday night. In fairness they are elasticated and still pretty tight, but I wore them out nonetheless! (Not that I was particularly skinny before children 😂)
@wellthatwastricky I’m also looking at the entire summer holidays alone with my 4yr old and 1yr old. It’s going to be a long summer. I’m going to do lots of picnics in the park and plenty of swimming together.
Plan for today:
B. Wheat biscuits and fruit
L. Beef sandwich
D. Soup
Exercise. None again today, just can’t manage anything substantial at the moment.
Snacks. Some chocolate buttons tonight when the kids are in bed
Have a good day everyone

Vebrithien · 19/07/2019 08:53

Thanks for all your support.
Lots of cramping here, but no other symptoms.
Second scan is on Tuesday. Just feel so tired.

Ihatesundays · 19/07/2019 09:07

My weight has bounced back up - this is my pattern though. I lose some weight, I go back up and then go back down again. Annoying.

The exercise has certainly shrunk my thighs. Disappointed I didn’t measure myself now.

Crazzzycat · 19/07/2019 10:38

Lowest numbers on the scales this morning: 76.3. That’s a loss of 1.3 kg since the start of the month.

That may not sound like much, but since hitting the healthy weight range I’ve been more focussed on nutrition than calories and have been going over my 1400 kcal limit fairly regularly. So, I’m pretty chuffed the weightloss is continuing, albeit at a slower pace!

If I manage to lose just under a pound, I will have lost 20% of my body weight this year. I’d love to hit that target this month. I think I will buy myself something nice to celebrate, but what? 🤔

MilesJuppIsMyBitch · 19/07/2019 11:11

Inspired by Crazzzycat I just did a bit of maths, & I've lost over 6% of my body weight since the beginning of June.

BrillyPribble · 19/07/2019 13:50

MFP handily calculates your %age weight loss for you so I've lost 7.1% of myself since starting. 😁
I'm finding my size 18 clothes are now starting to fall down (bad enough when it's jeans but when it's your pants falling down under a dress, that's not good!). I wish I'd measured myself at the start too. I've measured now though.
I usually do a wardrobe sort through at the end of the summer and swap summer clothes for winter ones but this time I think I'll be getting all my old smaller clothes out of storage sooner rather than later.

Millie2018 · 19/07/2019 14:15

Also inspired I’ve just calculated mine. 7.6% loss using my starting weight at the beginning of May. Pretty happy with that.

Ihatesundays · 19/07/2019 14:19

I’ve lost 6.5%

PeriComoToes · 19/07/2019 15:01

Where on MFP does it calculate that?

Crazzzycat · 19/07/2019 16:09

Wow, some impressive percentages here!

For some reason I find percentage weightloss hugely motivational. I don’t think my brain has fully caught up with how much I’ve lost yet, so I often look in the mirror and think I’m way too chubby.

But when I remind myself that I’m now a healthy weight and have lost almost a fifth of myself, I know that what I’m seeing in the mirror simply can’t be true. It’s a good reality check ☺️

BrillyPribble · 19/07/2019 18:50

@PeriComoToes look on the progress screen, top right hand corner where it gives the amount lost it also says the % lost

Fluffiest · 19/07/2019 19:38

Congratulations BillyPribble on losing a stone. That's amazing!

I've been for a run tonight after three days of not exercising due to cold. I felt so good afterwards. I think I'm finally feeling those exercising endorphins everyone else goes on about.

Am pretty happy with what I ate today but I don't want to eat anything else. I really really want to lose one more pound this week. So no Friday night wine for me Sad going to have a shower and watch some guilty pleasure TV (Glee, Gossip Girl and Gilmore Girks - all the HS!)

PeriComoToes · 19/07/2019 21:31

I don't get that on the progress screen Billy not even a running total in pounds 🤷 am looking at the app on phone so maybe that's why.

Hurrah for guilty pleasure TV. I've just started watching Ugly Betty again.

Millie2018 · 19/07/2019 21:38

Closing the kitchen. Stuck to plan (including the chocolate buttons)!
Hope everyone has had a good day.

cricketmum84 · 19/07/2019 21:47

Ok I'm about half packed. We don't fly until 5 tomorrow evening so for a bit of leeway in the morning. Doesn't help that I didn't finish up with work until 8pm.

Absolutely amazing news from the vets today. All but one of the kidney markers in Ivy's blood tests were within normal ranges, the one that's over is only slightly over!! In some absolute bloody miracle it looks like she is recovering from the kidney injury. The vets are just amazed that everything keeps dropping, it's just so unexpected.

The prognosis of a year that had absolutely broken my heart is scrapped completely. She could keep going for years with no ill effects!!!

I'm so so happy that my eyes keep leaking....

Oh wow @cricketmum84, that’s fantastic news! That must be such a relief.

3dogs2cats · 19/07/2019 22:32

Bad day here. I was anticipating a difficult morning with a former friend and so was not surprised I had a feeling of dread. Turned out I was ill. Feel like shit. Fever cold sores cramps and chills. And managed to go over my calorie limit. I get flare ups of diverticulitis and the only thing that helps is a cup of tea and a digestive. 71 calories in one dull little brown circle, how can that be. I had half a packet. bleurgh

Vebrithien · 20/07/2019 06:08

That's just amazing cricket! Well done IvyCat!
What a lovely thing to go on holiday knowing.
Hope you have a wonderful time even if DS is rather sweaty and you come back refreshed.
