Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

Ahhhh I had visions of you eating digestives Millie

HearMeSnore · 13/07/2019 23:17

I've been bad. We were supposed to go out for food tonight because DD was at a party and there's a decent pub near where she was going...so we were going to have a bite there while we waited to pick her up. There are some tasty but healthy options and they do fab little mini-puds with a cup of tea for afters, so I could have a taste of something sweet without overdoing it.
But no.
We had workmen in today and they weren't finished when it was time to drop DD off so DH had to stay here until they were done. We ended up ordering Indian takeaway instead. And they do mouthwatering paneer kebabs. So I went from my plan to have risotto verde with salad and a little two-bite brownie...to stuffing my face with fried cheese, and then demolishing a third of a tub of Ben & Jerry's.
Back on the wagon tomorrow. One day to undo the damage before weighing in.

TreaterAnita · 13/07/2019 23:19

I do the same as @Millie2018 & @Ellieboolou27 re weighing, check everyday but rely on the end of week figure. I find it quite interesting to watch the fluctuations.

@Underworld345 I have done 5:2 but now do 4:3 (4 days of fasting at 800 cals then 3 days normal eating, but I try to restrict my weekly average to 1200 cals per day).

I think MM now says that 5:2 works for both men and women with 800 cal fast days, so you may be fine if you can manage 700. I went through a phase of doing 2x 650 back to back and that was quite effective.

Ate quite a lot today, but within cals for the week:

B: skinny latte
L: half cheese & ham toastie, skinny latte
S: blueberry Nakd bar, bagel thin w/ cream cheese & tomato
D: burger w/ half bun, salad & a few chips

crivit · 13/07/2019 23:25

Just catching up on the thread and did a whoop and little air punch when I read about ivycat. I then explained myself to my partner who is lying next to me Blush

@HearMeSnore - was there any chilli involved? Probably at least some turmeric. Lovely health giving and potentially weight loss aiding spices nod

HearMeSnore · 13/07/2019 23:31

Ha, that's a good point crivit. Turmeric, definitely. And there were red peppers and onions in it. That was one or two of my five-a-day right there. Grin

Can't think of a similar way to justify the ice-cream, though.

Millie2018 · 14/07/2019 08:16

@PeriComoToes To be honest a couple of digestives probably have less calories then 2 weetabix, but wouldn’t be as filling!
So I’m 0.2kg down for this week. I’m ok with that as at one point I was looking at a small gain. That brings July total to 1.9kg loss.
I have that wedding to attend today so diet will be shelved. I have a lovely summer dress to wear and it’s raining. Hopefully it will stop by lunchtime.
Hope everyone has a good day.

LooseAtTheSeams · 14/07/2019 08:38

Millie I'm hoping the rain moves on, too. I refuse to go running in the rain! Your weight loss is very impressive!
Mostly good yesterday - salad for lunch so halo of virtue there although the roast veg pizza in the evening tarnished that! But no snacks or wine.
Monday is my official weigh day but I do get on the scales most days just to check I'm staying below a certain threshold. (It's the weight I could never go below on all my previous attempts!)

Fluffiest · 14/07/2019 08:41

Morning weigh in at 9st7. I have lost 1lb this week. But its still a loss so I'll have that.

Today is a tricky day to navigate. Pub lunch with parents and we have a 15% discount code for Just Eat that expires today.

Oh and I'm tired again today. DD (aged 3) woke up at 8:30pm convinced it was morning because it was light outside and then couldn't get her back to sleep until after midnight. Confused

Ellieboolou27 · 14/07/2019 09:44

@Fluffiest 9st 7 is my dream weight!
So we have 2.5 weeks left of July, I'm going hardcore for the rest of this month and to try my hardest to stick to 1200 calories a day, plus aiming for 5 HITT workouts this week.

Breakfast 2 weetabix/ fruit
Lunch tuna mayo lettuce wraps and carrots
Dinner steak mushrooms and asparagus

I must have my daily can of coke (140 calories) but trying to cut this to weekends only

Underworld345 · 14/07/2019 12:24

Wondering if anyone has any good workouts? High intensity ones I can do from YouTube at home. When I say high intensity I mean like insanity. I liked that but found the workout too long.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 14/07/2019 12:27

Weight back up to 79kg after a shit few days of clingy crying children, mardy husband and an unwise late night trip to the supermarket for Mars bars.

3kg ain’t happening

OhTheRoses · 14/07/2019 12:33

I wasn't particularly good yesterday:

Half fish pie for one for breakfast (so as not to waste)
Two skin on chicken thighs for lunch with a bit of low mayo
Burger, half a bun, salad and about 8 fat chips for supper
And two large gin and slims.

Had lost 1/2lb this morning.
Presently in long bath and this is usually my lightest weigh of the day. On this basis hope to have lost 1lb tom at ww. I don't eat much at all on Mondays - until I have been to WW!

As for exercise because I have broken a vertebrae (well healed) and have osteoporosis I can only do gentle pilates (before I get out of bed), walking and gardening. I simple dare not try anything high impact or that can result in a trip or fall. I also work 8am to about 7pm in a v full on role so it's hard to fit much on. Homd by 8ish and often it's dishy, laundry, dinner, sit and bed by 10ish.

Fluffiest · 14/07/2019 14:25

Ellieboolou27 I'm a short arse so whilst this weight feels a lot better than what I was, I could still stand to lose some more.

OhTheRoses that sounds really tough. You must be exhausted! I would really struggle on that schedule!

cricketmum84 · 14/07/2019 15:48

Another mega busy day for me today!

Been out shopping for last minute holiday bits, then off to meet a lovely lady to pick up some special kidney care food for Ivycat that she had spare. Then onto the rescue that Ivycat came from to see the lady who runs it and drop off some normal food that Ivycat can't eat and accidentally stayed for quite some time having snuggles with all the disabled cats that live there as long term residents. Fell in love with a kitten called Norman. Didn't bring any cats home though.

Haven't eaten yet today but lovely DH is making me a sausage and butter bean casserole for later. Although am annoyed with him Cos he cooked the normal sausages in a pan and then cooked my veggie ones in the same pan without washing it so now my veggie sausages are covered in meat juice 🤬

I'm knackered and too hot and dreading Monday!! Just need to get through this week and then I'll be on holiday with cocktails, cold pool and lots of books!!!

OhTheRoses · 14/07/2019 16:33

People always say that fluffiest. I think I'm just used to it. DH is a workaholic and was always out by 6.30am and often not home until 9.30pm so I suppose I have adjusted. I sometimes wonder how I do it at 59. Three years ago I was poised to wind down and had reduced to the equiv of 4 days a week and then my career took off again in my twilight years and with grown up dc it could happen.

To be fair I do no house work or ironing so my free time is my own nowadays and I'm no longerbon a piece of elastic picking up from sports and singing. The DC can pick me up now if I have drinks after work Grin

OhTheRoses · 14/07/2019 16:34

Oh and the important bit. Was 12st 8-1/2lb after my bath Smile. Hoping for 12st9lb at ww tom.

WantLifeToBeBetter · 14/07/2019 19:00

Difficult day here - DP is quite unwell (CFS on top of another chronic illness) and is (understandably) miserable and grumpy which obviously rubs off. He's also been taking about how worried he is about the impact of a potential baby on his health and while it's totally healthy and reasonable for him to share his fears it's still really difficult to hear, especially after my miscarriage last month Sad. Anyway, it's been harder than usual to stay away from the choc ices/wine but (so far) I've managed it (I have drunk a lot of very sugary fizzy apple juice/fake wine but, well, f**k it at least it's not alcohol).

B - peanut butter on rye bread, banana
L - butter bean stew, rye bread
D - vegetable soup with grated protein cheese, salad, rye bread, maybe a yoghurt
Snacks - raspberries, random half jar of pasta sauce Blush

Kind of ran 8k but had to stop half way to have a good cry Blush

WantLifeToBeBetter · 14/07/2019 19:03

Sorry - probably over shared there Blush

Good luck tomorrow @OhTheRoses

@Underworld345 I'm a fan of Jillian Michaels 30 day shred

OhTheRoses · 14/07/2019 19:21

No you didn't Want. Sounds tough and it's part of your tapestry. Baby losses are v hard and often happen when we don't understand every inch of our partner's psyche because in the first 20 years we haven't done it all together Flowers.

Millie2018 · 14/07/2019 19:36

Well this might make some of you laugh. The wedding I went to today ran out of food. I’m not even kidding. I thought it was going to be a buffet but they decided to put a couple of plates of food on each table in a ‘help yourself’ kind of way.... well it was like snack time at a stay and play session (imagine toddlers biting each other for the last rice cake). Seriously though, when the food ran out someone asked the bride if there was any more and she said no, I thought there would be enough out. Oh dear. And no alcohol. Again, I thought they would put a couple of bottles on each table, but no. So at least it was a win for the diet!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 14/07/2019 19:47

Oh my GODDDDDD @Millie2018

Your poor chum! Forever her special day will be immortalised as “the one where they ran out of food”.

Blush
HearMeSnore · 14/07/2019 20:35

Haven't weighed at all this week so feeling a bit apprehensive in case I have a shock tomorrow. I think I was mostly good except for the takeaway curry last night. Stayed off the wine but did have a large G&T in the pub on Friday. And took DD to Macdonalds for lunch today, but I had grilled chicken salad & small fries. So I don't think I deserve a shock but I can't help worrying a bit.

Does anyone know if having a really heavy period affects the weigh-in? (I know it wouldn't be actual weight loss but it's been a humdinger this month. I feel like a squeezed sponge.)

Millie2018 · 14/07/2019 21:02

@PaulHollywoodsSexGut I know! It’s all we could talk about on the way home. If my dad had been there he would have walked out for sure!

Ellieboolou27 · 14/07/2019 22:13

@Millie2018 result for the diet! No so much for the bride - how embarrassing.
I remember attending a wedding once where they served afternoon tea, sandwiches and scones at 1pm then then a bacon rolls came out at 9pm, all I remember about the day was being starving 🤣

Wellthatwastricky · 14/07/2019 22:15

Millie, I was at a wedding that ran out of food once! Booze was free flowing though, thankfully Grin

Want - my DH has CFS and has done since just after our first DC was born. Please feel free to PM me if you ever want to talk about it. Thanks

Fairly decent weekend, though I might have eaten a large slab of Lindt instead of the small squares of dark I intended to have (oh alright, I had the dark choc too...), will find out how that's affected things in the morning!
