Previous thread here: Half a stone off (or 3kg) in June http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/3600209-half-a-stone-off-or-3kg-in-june

Welcome all to half a stone off for July!

As in the June thread I promise to inject some enthusiasm into every day (and try to stay away from Greggs) We saw some amazing losses in June so let's see if we can beat June's total!!

All welcome whether you are fasting, 5:2 12:8, ww, slimming world etc etc.

All I ask for is positivity and for us all to support each other.

Much love and looking forward to Day 1!!!

Just saw the great news about Ivy cat! She is an absolute star!
I have also had to cancel yoga for the same reason.
I've lost another pound - and no danger of wine for the next week so definitely think I can hit my target for July. I am at my lowest weight for longer than I can actually remember!!! It must be the power of this thread.

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 13/07/2019 08:57

Hurrah for IvyCat™️

Boo for me being back at 79.4kg 🧐

WantLifeToBeBetter · 13/07/2019 09:26

Great news about IvyCat Smile

I am back after a few days AWOL (aka eating and drinking far too much). Need to get back at it this weekend so re-iterating my goals from the start (sorry, I appreciate this is of no interest to anyone but me but it helps me keep focused so please forgive the repetition!)

I want to prioritise "self care" and developing long term healthy eating habits over quick weight loss so am intending to focus on

  • cutting down on alcohol (unhelpful for weight, health and relationship)
  • cutting out after dinner snacking/grazing/binging
  • drinking more water
WantLifeToBeBetter · 13/07/2019 09:31

Cat related query:

If you guys have a chip activated catflap which actually works, what brand is it please? We just bought the top rated one on ZooPlus but it is very tempemental so the poor cat gets stuck outside half the time Sad

lemonbalmtea · 13/07/2019 09:36

2lb loss this week despite yesterdays diet abandonment. All the vigorous gardening (scrubbing and staining decking) must have helped.

Lost 1st 2lb in 2.5 months. Feeling positive as 10st milestone is in sight.

I cancelled Bounce Fit as my leg muscles are knackered.

I second the power of this thread!

Wellthatwastricky · 13/07/2019 09:47

So pleased to hear about Ivycat! Let's hope she's keeps on the up and up.

I've hit the dreaded plateau, so I'm exactly the same weight I was this time last week Angry. Really hacked off. Usually allow myself a relaxed Saturday but don't want weight to go up because I took my eye off the ball. Already treated myself to breakfast and accidentally made with full fat Greek yoghurt - tasted like eating double cream, it's been so long since I've had full fat dairy!

Ellieboolou27 · 13/07/2019 09:52

Morning all, bit late but ok if I join? Need a bit of support. Lost 16.5lb since beginning of June, calorie counting and working out 4-5 times a week. I need to lose 3.5 stone ideally 4.
Currently weighing in at a hefty 13.10

WantLifeToBeBetter · 13/07/2019 09:59

Welcome Ellieboolou27!

cricketmum84 · 13/07/2019 10:41

@lightlypoached omg those nibbles sound incredible!

@LooseAtTheSeams whoop! You are doing amazing!

@WantLifeToBeBetter do you mind if I join you in those goals? I really need to drink less alcohol and more water!! I'll happily have 2 pints of water on a morning but then nowhere near enough the rest of the day!

@lemonbalmtea excellent results! Well done!!

@Wellthatwastricky the plateau is so frustrating. Hope things start moving this week!

Welcome @Ellieboolou27 fantastic result so far!!

Well I've finally lost another pound!! Happy with that but I know I'm not going to be anywhere near where I wanted to be for our holiday next Saturday. Really stressing over whether I will need a seatbelt extender again. I'm also terrified of flying and worrying about leaving Ivycat so really struggling to get excited.

Also have to go try on all my holiday clothes at some point this morning and see what fits and what I need to buy. And I hate trying on clothes!!

Am planning on being extra good this weekend and try get a little bit more off!

Happy Saturday everyone. Hope everyone has a successful and fun filled day!!

Gaaah I seem to have really lost my way the last week or two. I'm back to 13st 10 now and I had one day this week where I just sat and scoffed an entire bag of Indonesian crackers - they were delicious!
So am trying hard to pull it back and have been strict with calories the last couple of days and went for a long walk with the kids yesterday. Hope by Wednesday (official weigh in day) I'll have some movement back in the right direction.

OhTheRoses · 13/07/2019 12:59

@WantLifeToBeBetter we have a Sure Flap. Has worked perfectly for four years. Still tickles me when I remember how we had to scan the cat to set it.

As for weight ot is sitting firmly at 12.10 after my dip to 12.8-1/2 earlier this week. If I eat little this w/e and have no wine am hoping to see 12.9 at ww on Monday night. That will be a 3lb loss for July so far. 15lb overall since 15 April. Don't think I can manage 7lb a month but am happy if I can deliver a steady 3 to 4lb per month. That will get me to 12 st by end September and hopeully to 11.2 by the end of the year.

More vibes for Ivy. @cricketmum84 even if you aren't where you wanted to be fast forward from the start and your losses are awesome and put you in a much much better place than when you started.

3dogs2cats · 13/07/2019 15:34

Well my starting weight on July 1st was 103.9k. Today I am 102.2. So I think I may be on target for 3 kilos, given I turned 60 last week, and celebrations ensued. @cricketmum84 thank you so much for this thread, with little cat to worry about too.so glad that she is doing better.

Millie2018 · 13/07/2019 17:05

Late check in. Did my walk! I’ve done 22 miles this week tracked. More then last week. I’m weighing in tomorrow morning. Fingers grossed for a small loss.
B. Wheat biscuits
L. Ham sandwich
D. Spinach and ricotta pizza half portion
Snacks: banana

PeriComoToes · 13/07/2019 19:22

What are 'wheat biscuits' Millie?

Ellieboolou27 · 13/07/2019 19:27

Thanks all, does everybody have a set weigh in day? I tend to weigh in daily but it's driving me a bit mental now, weighed yesterday at 13.10 then thought I'd weigh after joining the thread today to find out I'm 13.13 🤬

I'm bloody desperate to get out of the 13's but self sabotaging the last few days by late night picking!

Ellieboolou27 · 13/07/2019 19:28

@PeriComoToes I think they are weetabix

Fluffiest · 13/07/2019 20:00

Ellieboolou27 I weigh in daily because I need the accountability, but I feel like the Sunday weigh in is my official one of the week. Different people have different weigh in days.

My day has been up and down. Late to bed last night and up early this morning left me shattered today. I compensated with a big cooked breakfast, milkshake in a cafe and a can of coke. Not good!

But I reigned it in since. Pottered in the garden, had half a can of soup for tea and had a good twenty minute run this evening.

If I'm lucky it will balance our to me maintaining tomorrow but in anticipation of a gain I want to remind myself of all the other good things about this health kick such as:

Exercising daily and enjoying it for the first time in my life
Drastically cutting down my alcohol intake
Liking my reflection in the mirror
Clearer skin from eating less chocolate
Saving money by cutting down on take aways
Getting more sleep - I go to bed earlier to avoid evening snacking temptation

Sorry long post, but I needed to boost myself today!

Ellieboolou27 · 13/07/2019 20:48

@Fluffiest agree with going to bed earlier, had a terrible day today as was out and about and made bad choices. I don't really drink much but do love can of coke (not diet yuk)

New day tomorrow 👍

Millie2018 · 13/07/2019 21:23

@PeriComoToes yes they are the Tesco version of weetabix!

Millie2018 · 13/07/2019 21:25

I measure my weight ‘loss’ by the week, but weigh in daily so I don’t get any nasty surprises.

Ihatesundays · 13/07/2019 21:39

I got pissed last night and ate by body weight in carbs today so staying off the scales for a few days Grin

Ellieboolou27 · 13/07/2019 21:52

@Millie2018 same here! I'm so disappointed to have put 3lb in a day! So although I did a 30 minute kettlebell workout today I still ended up eating a giant aero bar 🐽

Monday is my log it day so will stay off scales until then.

Millie2018 · 13/07/2019 22:22

Mmmmmm aero

WantLifeToBeBetter · 13/07/2019 22:26

cricketmum84 - please do!

Thanks for the tip OhTheRoses - we're waiting for zoo plus to get back to us about a replacement or refund but if we gut another I will look at that.

First day back on it:
B - rye bread and peanut butter, banana
L - fish fingers, broccoli, courgette and peas, kiwi fruit
D - half a veggie pizza, salad, avocado, Becks blue
Snacked on a plum and carrots dipped in pesto (not great). No alcohol, no grazing after dinner, and about to have another glass of water Smile

Underworld345 · 13/07/2019 22:30

Does anyone do the 5:2 diet? I really struggle to meet the 500 calorie restriction! But manage around 700. Seems to be working but a bit slow and I’m not really active (sedentary job)
